The best restaurants in Northumberland North East

We chose Milecastle Inn as a place to hold a family event. It was the perfect place to choose! The pub room was incredibly cosy and the staff could not have been more welcoming. They created a special place for just us which worked incredibly well. The buffet which they provided was very good value for money and extremely tasty. We recommend the pub, staff, atmosphere and food 💯. Thank you everyone at the Milecastle Inn for making our day so special!

A very cosy, friendly pub with good choice of beer. Good menu choice, proper home cooking, with generous portions of tasty traditional dishes. We had a great meal, with efficient & good natured service.

Very nice drinks staff was so friendly never ate here. But had a good experience all round. Very enjoyable, parking was ok and the little village it was in was very quaint. We were staying in a nearby cottage so very near to walk.

My cousin and I were hugely impressed by Castaways. I had been reluctant to go because about 20 years ago the original café had been taken over by a useless couple. But when I passed and looked in, I could see that its original atmosphere had been recreated by the current management. Our reception was very friendly. The café was full (always a good sign) and we were third in the queue. Our table was soon ready and we were seatedby a waitress. We were very comfortable and the atmosphere was nice. Many pleasant people there as customers happily dining and chatting. Good choice of food and drink. I had the traditional breakfast and my cousin had… I think it was avocado and egg on sourdough bread. We were both very content with our lunch. I will certainly return and bring members of my family to enjoy castaways. Nicely sited, easy car parking and great views over Seaton Sluice and the sea. Get yourself along there and have a treat!

First time visit, food and service were excellent and very reasonably priced. Very courteous staff, made to feel very welcome. More than happy to return

We stayed in an air b&b a minutes walk from this pub and only stumbled across it because I did my usual desperate search for decent gf food - and what an amazing find! So many choices for the main dinner meal, I ended up having chicken goujons and chips which was excellent. So good we ended up coming back for sunday lunch! A whole sunday lunch pre marked gf and df, no questions, no compromises - made my holiday! Really good with the kids too. Can not recommend more.

I had the fritters, lemon sole and berry parfait with mocktails. All were super delicious. The other diners with me enjoyed their food as well.

Only ate in the bar - Food was good, and there was good service. However for pub food, it was quite expensive.

Had many fantastic meals here over the years, my lunch on Wednesday was very very poor, food was below average and the usual serving staff had zero conversation, there was more staff than customers who seemed to huddle together whispering in the corner of the restaurant, very off putting I must say..

Excellent stay. Came to an 80th birthday celebration. Staff SO friendly.

Popped in here late morning and had a wonderful bacon roll and drinks too. Service with a smile, efficient. The cakes looked amazing too. Toilets were immaculate too. Thank you

For some reason we had not been here for some time and walking through the doors on a dark and windy Halloween evening immediately wondered why not? The food choice and quality is top class. As are the friendly and very efficient staff - both in the restaurant and at the bar. While the decor and ambience is everything you could hope for in a lovely country pub, restaurant and hotel. Excellent value too. We felt welcomed and treated in a special place where the staff - front of house and kitchen - made that extra effort to ensure everyone went home with a smile on their face. Well done to all involved.

Had a delivery today, everything was fantastic from ordering to delivery & the food was delicious. We had potato skins, garlic bread with cheese & the king prawns with chorizo & rice. We couldn't eat it all between 2 of us. I would highly recommend them. The guy on the phone was so helpful, he also delivered it to us on Percy Woods as well. He kept us updated throughout.

Both had lamb which was lovely and came with really delicious veg including cauliflower cheese and perfect roasties. Excellent sticky toffee pudding too. Service was good and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant, despite being very busy. Husband asked for ice cream with dessert as well as the cream and mentioned it was his birthday. They produced a plate with 'Happy Birthday' on it with a bowl of ice cream on the side! What a lovely gesture. Highly recommend this lovely place. Upstairs dining room is gorgeous.

A cozy tea room offering fresh sandwiches and paninis, perfect for a light breakfast. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, ideal for enjoying tea and a relaxed morning meal. A hidden gem for breakfast lovers!
