got delayed a by about half an hour and chips could have down with another minute cooking, but was a banging meal all the same. delivery man was good too.
Outstanding meal and atmosphere! Lovely quiche of the day and a house made veggie burger with real chips! Nice cup of tea to go with. Also made an order for a takeaway breakfast for the next day! Excellent all around!
Delightful place to call in for a drink. Charming outside area right by the River Coquet, just down from the old bridge. Friendly staff, glad we stopped by.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The staff were excellent and the food was really good and served quickly even though we hadn’t booked and they were very busy.
Menu was varied and food was delicious with massive portions. We visited twice during our stay to Rothbury. Weather was glorious when we visited so we were also able to enjoy a drink in the beer garden which had lovely views of the Rothbury countryside.
Staff were also very friendly. Would highly recommend!
This is a second review. My first one is below,
We went here again midweek and mid afternoon, around 3.30pm ish. The food was amazingly good and the staff just as friendly. The restaurant and toilets are spotlessly clean.
The food is all made on site by their chef. It's not mass-produced, generic rubbish but authentic handmade dishes. The portion sizes are just right, not too big or small. The prices were great too. We had the afternoon special of three courses with sparkling water and it was under £20 per person. We were the only people in for most of our meal.
Here's my first review from a few moths ago:
My wife and I went here three weeks ago.
I've been meaning to leave a review, but time has been against me. We arrived early on a Saturday evening, soon after opening so before the big Saturday night rush. I can highly recommend this restaurant. The staff were friendly, joyful, entertaining, and helpful. The food was delicious and served quickly.
It makes a refreshing change to eat somewhere the staff are genuinely interested in serving and not just working robotically to a script.
10 stars from me. Fabulous.
Just stopped off for a snack and coffee.
Lovely airey cafe space with an excellent choice of meals/snacks/salads.
My wife and I shared a portion of fritata with was lovely and had really flavoursome coffee.
Came to try the restaurant. Upon arrival at 7pm the place was empty with only one customer. We asked if they had tables available for two. They said no and that were extremely busy and wouldn’t take walk ins due to demand of the restaurant. I looked around a bit confused due to emptiness. I asked is it possible to be seated before any book ins came as we would only be quick. They said no and that they had no bookings. Me and my partner were left feeling confused and disappointed. The staff just stared at us till we left. They lost out on custom and service that night. How disappointing. I would have understood if busy.
Thought I'd treat my sister so we came for a light lunch. Each ordered cheese savoury sandwich on brown bread -simple, yes?
Waitress arrived and we were given cheese savoury in a white roll.... Like Mrs Overall had taken the order.
Gave up trying to catch waitress' attention re. her mistake as we had a hospital appointment to get to so just ate it. The filling was a thin smear of cheese savoury. I would have been embarrassed to serve this at home, my family would ask where the rest of their was.
We did raise the issue to the young lady who took our payment, no resolution offered.
Poor effort skimping on filling at these prices. Would have spoken to owner about it but they were busy on the phone trying to fix their problem with card payments not working and we had to get to the hospital. Fortunately, we managed to get the cash together.
I know it's VE day but rationing of cheese ended in the 1950's.
Could not recommend.
