Booked for lunch with family, one being of lesser mobility. Access was excellent from the road up a long ramp to the entrance with easy access to toilets. Then it got better, the staff were welcoming and friendly all the way through. The food was outstanding, especially the slow cooked lamb shoulder pie. The best pie and chips I've ever had, thank you chef.

Lovely pub/restaurant with upmarket rooms in Northumberland village location overlooking the River coquet. For walkers the St.Oswalds way footpath passes through the village. The X15 bus passes through to Alnwick & on to Berwick to the North or Morpeth & Newcastle to the South. A short drive to the beautiful Northumberland coast, Alnmouth, Boulmer, Embleton, Beadnell, Seahouses & Bamburgh with numerous walks, pubs, cafe & restaurants. The rooms are superb and the drinks and food on offer at the Northumberland arms are first class. Well worth a visit or even better an overnight stay.

Stopped over for one night before visiting Alnwick. Room was fantastic with a view over the river Coquet and very comfortable. All members of staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially the lady who checked us in and showed us to our room. Had dinner down in the bar, taking advantage of the Wednesday steak night. Brilliant food and offered gluten free options for myself. Breakfast in the morning was included with the room and again was very good. The chef even popped his head out the kitchen to say good morning and to ask how we enjoyed what he had cooked. Definitely would stay again if I'm visiting the area.

We had heard how good this pub was and decided on this visit to Northumberland we would try it. Our family went for Sunday lunch over the Easter bank holiday weekend and we were so pleased we did. Everything about the visit was great. The location, the friendliness of the staff, the venue itself and best of all the food. Would recommend it and will certainly be going back.

We chose this restaurant to meet family as we’ve eaten numerous times over the years and always really enjoyed the food and service. Today was a real let down. The restaurant wasn’t that busy and the meals took a long time to arrive. When they did the food was over cooked and we weren’t even asked if we wanted anymore drinks throughout or indeed asked for dessert. All the waitresses looked like they were on another planet and not attentive. This was a huge disappointment as we have always raved about this place to family and we left feeling embarrassed that we had recommended it.

I visited for an impromptu lunch yesterday....I wish I'd missed out on breakfast before hand as I was unable to finish what I can only describe as the most delicious Lamb Pie, I had a piping hot bowl of leak and potato soup to start, which was delicious, then onto the Lamb shoulder pie served with a generous pot of the most delicious roast potato's and Gravy that could rival my mothers!! which I would highly recommend (the lovely and very attentive waiting staff allowed me to put what I couldn't eat into a takeaway box) that was a lovely touch. I was leaving room as I wanted to sample the dessert menu, and again, it was superb Pistachio and Amalfi lemon cake. Again, I would highly recommend this. The price was exactly what I would have expected and very good value. I stayed for a drink unfortunately it had to be a shandy as I was driving but there was an wide selection, I can't comment on the accommodation as I haven't stayed there yet which means I suppose I'll have to return and soak up what was a very warm and friendly atmosphere, I'm looking forward to a very comfy night in a beautiful setting, if you're ever driving up the A1 and you feel tired and hungry head for this place you will thank me I'm sure.

We were so looking forward to our Sunday lunch after reading the reviews. We arrived early and were told we could take our seats straight away, even we said we were happy to sit at the bar with a drink. We took are seats and gave our drinks orders ( which came quickly) and our food orders. Cutlery and table water was brought to us. As time passed, we looked at all the meals being served, and we both commented that we hoped our Yorkshire puddings weren't as over cooked as the ones we saw being served! When we had then sat patiently for an hour, and saw tables who came in afterwards served, we decided to leave. l appreciated they were very busy, but communication and an explanation for the delay would have been the professional thing to do. If you can't cope with such large numbers, then don't take so many bookings! You ruined our Sunday afternoon.

Lovely pub opposite the river in this pretty village. The pub is spotless and thoughtfully laid out as you don't feel on top of other tables. We ate here twice, the first being a scrummy bubble and squeak pie with Guinness gravy and the best chips we've ever had. Second was the Sunday veggie roast which is also potentially the best we've had in a pub. The texture and taste of the lentil loaf was amazing and the sides and yorkies were amazing. Whether you live in a neighbouring village or visiting north Northumberland, reserve a table either for lunch or dinner, or book a room at The Northumberland Arms, Felton a gem nestled by the river. We stayed for a couple of nights as it was our wedding anniversary which coincides with Burns Night, celebrated annually in Northumberland. We arrived on the Friday for lunch and had the seafood sharing platter. It was truly devine. Service by staff was impeccable. The rooms were cozy and very comfortable. Very good tea and coffee making facilities as well as sparkling and still water renewed every day. The breakfasts were buffet style for the continental and cooked to order for the hot selection. On the Saturday evening our table was booked and when the Burns supper was beginning, a Scottish piper did the rounds and the Maitre d’ (Trevor) followed him with a haggis Wellington on a huge platter for us to take photos. A couple of Robert Burns poems were read and then the meal was served. First course was the chef’s take on Cullen Skink. For those who don’t know, it sounds an awful name but a most delicious fish stew with smoked haddock. Plenty of double cream was incorporated by the chef. Outstanding. Then we had haggis, neeps and tatties, (puréed turnip and smooth potatoes) with butter a plenty. The pudding was the Scottish Cranachan, again with the chef’s take on it, using a stewed rhubarb instead of raspberries. Delicious nonetheless. And to round it off, a good whisky. Next day on the Sunday, we had cooked breakfast and just enjoyed the day with a short walk and then ate the most amazing Sunday lunch. I had roast beef, my wife had roast belly pork. The Yorkshire puddings were huge and resembled a sink hole. Tender stem broccoli, sweet carrots and creamed potatoes with loads of butter. We would definitely do this again perhaps just for a midweek lunch. Please check out the photos.

We were staying in the area for New Year, so after looking at the reviews booked for the 9 of us. The welcome from staff was warm, and we promptly got seated. The menu was limited, which was disappointing as there was no mention of this on the website. We had the selection of breads to share. This took 30 minutes to come out to the table. We then waited a further hour after we had finished our starter for the mains to come out. This is ridiculous, and it wasn't until my husband went and said something we had been left in the conservatory with no interaction from the staff at all during this time. There was no apology, but I just i will go and see. However, the food was exceptional although a little pricey, but everyone enjoyed the food. I would definitely go back if the services were improved.

On the only rainy day of our holiday in Northumberland we decided to visit the Northumberland Arms for lunch as we had checked and it was dog friendly. And boy was it! When we arrived the lovely staff seated us at a nice cosy table with arm chairs and space fir us to settle the dog, when taking our drinks order they asked if the dog wanted a bowl of water. They also have an actual 3 course menu with 3 chooses of each course for dogs, brilliant! We had a baked Camembert to share, then chicken schnitzel and sea bass, doggo had pease pudding and ham then sausage and mash. The staff were lovely, the food was excellent. The only negative we had was nothing to do with the restaurant itself but a very entitled home counties couple, she was making a big fuss about how parched her dog was, so being kind I said the dog could take a drink out of our dogs bowl, to which they picked up his bowl took it over to her table where her dog didn’t want a drink at all and kept it. We had to ask staff for another bowl of water for our dog. Why are people like that????

We absolutely loved our stay at the Northumberland Arms in Morpeth. As a family of one parent and two kids, we were all impressed with the spacious room and luxurious bathroom. The high-quality bed linens made for a super comfortable night’s sleep, and the room had everything we needed, with great amenities provided throughout. The location is incredibly convenient, with ample parking right on site, making it easy for us to come and go. We also had dinner at the restaurant, and it was delicious! The sticky toffee pudding was a first for us, and it was absolutely amazeballs—we’re still talking about it! The wine selection was also great, and we all enjoyed the meal. Breakfast the next morning was good, though it leaned a bit more towards carb-heavy options. Still, it was tasty and a solid start to the day. You can tell it’s a popular venue from the numbers of cars parked on the road outside. The ambiance is good, the staff were pleasant and the food was good. My observation are personal preferences…..the Yorkshire pudding probably took up a third of the plate, I found it difficult to cut, and you were left wondering if you’d knock other items of the plate. I’d rather have two small Yorkshires, so you can “manage” them. The belly pork was ok but didn’t appear to come with crackling. Why are you only ever asked about sauces/condiments once the food has been brought!? I asked for apple sauce, almost 5 minutes later it came in a chilled metal pot, I suspect straight from the fridge……I prefer mine warm or at least room temperature…..the request for additional gravy never materialised.

Overall, would still return and sincerely recommend. Oooh. And I thought I'd found the first shower this side of the 21st century that wasn't thermostatically controlled but having this evening ventured further north into Scotland I find the same here in another £200 a night room so guess it's a thing up here. Lovely evening meal, had main course and desert which was plenty. Loved the doggie menu and our dog can heartily recommend the sausage and mash. Very doggie friendly restaurant with lovely attentive staff. A great evening, will certainly be back when in the area next.

We had a meal here, I have to say the food was beautiful, however for me the portion was tiny I had 4 courses and was still hungry. I have eaten in many beautiful restaurants and have always been extremely happy after two or three courses.

The staff were lovely, even with coming in early for a table they made sure they found comfortable place to sit and have drinks, give us a menu and take our order as the other table was leaving. The roast dinners were excellent. The best swede and carrot mash with crispy Yorkshire puddings and roast potato's. Staff were excellent and friendly. Our first time there but will be back!

Absolutely lovely food and outstanding customer service. Good atmosphere and lovely location. We had the beef stottie and it was unreal. The sticky toffee pudding is award worthy. Staff were great.

We were treated to an evening meal at this establishment by friends in the area. I hesitate to say “pub” as the meal was definitely elevated fare. Having said that, the ambience was relaxed and although they were extremely busy for a Thursday night, and I'm sure the staff felt they were rushed off their collective feet, we never felt anxious. Loved that the dog could be with us, and personally, if some people were a little exasperated with the pace of service, I look at that as a positive. Good to see such commerce after the carnage caused by the pandemic.

I love it here. The staff are attentive and friendly and show good knowledge of covid 19 procedures. You can sit where there are around 4-5 tables as well as outdoor seating. There's always at least one vegan option on offer but if that has sold out, at least their coffee can be served with oat milk (decent flat whites too!) Castaways is situated within minutes to pebble beach and if you walk for 10, there's a long sandy beach. They also allow dogs inside

Great prices on spirits. Lovely selection of real ale. Great Beer garden overlooking the river. Very busy bar filled with locals and dogs. Lovely separate lounge with double doors onto a beer garden. No loud music. Old music videos on tvs but not turned up loud (good!) monthly live music on Sunday afternoons.
