Lovely pub opposite the river in this pretty village. The pub is spotless and thoughtfully laid out as you don't feel on top of other tables. We ate here twice, the first being a scrummy bubble and squeak pie with Guinness gravy and the best chips we've ever had. Second was the Sunday veggie roast which is also potentially the best we've had in a pub. The texture and taste of the lentil loaf was amazing and the sides and yorkies were amazing. Highly recommend.

Since moving to Morpeth the Northumberland arms is our favourite spot. The atmosphere is cosy, the food is delicious and the staff are always friendly and polite. Having made my way around most of the menu I highly recommend the chicken schnitzel (super tasty), pie (comfort food beyond belief) and their Sunday dinner which is the best I’ve had. The only problem is it’s so good, we now eat out a little too often!

100% yes I would recommend. myself my husband, sister I.L and mother I.L came today for Sunday dinner. we both had belly pork and they had beef. ordered cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets as extra. which we didn't need as the portions were super generous. I left saying that this was THE BEST Sunday I've had in many years. and will be willing to make the 1.5hr trip to visit. we made room for dessert, glad we did because these again were beautiful. apple and rhubarb crumble, sticky toffee and clementine tart. service from all was friendly and helpful.

Had the best meal we’ve ever eaten. The staff were 10/10 - relaxed paced meal, with the comfiest seating possible! The food was 10/10, with innovative replacement meals for the things they had run out of! Everything local to area which was amazing to sample, and blown away by vegetarian choice. Could not recommend tis highly enough.

Great food and accommodation! Second time here for food, first time for accommodation. Varied menu. Himalayan salt aged sirloin was a special, and delicious. Chips are really crispy. Monkfish special was also really tasty, with lots of little touches that made it special. Breakfast menu also very varied, including a vegan hash. Room was very comfortable. Ringtons tea and coffee bags, and biscuits. Spacious powerful shower.

We went for Sunday dinner and had the roast chicken and medium rare beef. The food was exceptional and full of flavour. The staff were very attentive and good at their job. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. We enjoyed our mains that much we just had to try the desserts too. We both got stuck toffee pudding which was delicious, added touch of honeycomb on top too! We are booked to go back for Sunday dinner next month too. It’s a 70 mile round trip for us, but it’s worth it!

Whether you live in a neighbouring village or visiting north Northumberland, reserve a table either for lunch or dinner, or book a room at The Northumberland Arms, Felton a gem nestled by the river. We stayed for a couple of nights as it was our wedding anniversary which coincides with Burns Night, celebrated annually in Northumberland. We arrived on the Friday for lunch and had the seafood sharing platter. It was truly devine. Service by staff was impeccable. The rooms were cozy and very comfortable. Very good tea and coffee making facilities as well as sparkling and still water renewed every day. The breakfasts were buffet style for the continental and cooked to order for the hot selection. On the Saturday evening our table was booked and when the Burns supper was beginning, a Scottish piper did the rounds and the Maitre d’ (Trevor) followed him with a haggis Wellington on a huge platter for us to take photos. A couple of Robert Burns poems were read and then the meal was served. First course was the chef’s take on Cullen Skink. For those who don’t know, it sounds an awful name but a most delicious fish stew with smoked haddock. Plenty of double cream was incorporated by the chef. Outstanding. Then we had haggis, neeps and tatties, (puréed turnip and smooth potatoes) with butter a plenty. The pudding was the Scottish Cranachan, again with the chef’s take on it, using a stewed rhubarb instead of raspberries. Delicious nonetheless. And to round it off, a good whisky. Next day on the Sunday, we had cooked breakfast and just enjoyed the day with a short walk and then ate the most amazing Sunday lunch. I had roast beef, my wife had roast belly pork. The Yorkshire puddings were huge and resembled a sink hole. Tender stem broccoli, sweet carrots and creamed potatoes with loads of butter. We would definitely do this again perhaps just for a midweek lunch. Please check out the photos.

My goodness, the food here is astounding! The steak was the best we’ve had anywhere in England and the chips were divine! Couldn’t get enough of them. We ate here by accident because our hotel lost power thanks to Storm Eowyn and couldn’t provide food, but we have bookmarked this place to stay next time we come to Northumberland because the rooms look gorgeous. We were staying in the area for New Year, so after looking at the reviews booked for the 9 of us. The welcome from staff was warm, and we promptly got seated. The menu was limited, which was disappointing as there was no mention of this on the website. We had the selection of breads to share. This took 30 minutes to come out to the table. We then waited a further hour after we had finished our starter for the mains to come out. This is ridiculous, and it wasn't until my husband went and said something we had been left in the conservatory with no interaction from the staff at all during this time. There was no apology, but I just i will go and see. However, the food was exceptional although a little pricey, but everyone enjoyed the food. I would definitely go back if the services were improved.

On the only rainy day of our holiday in Northumberland we decided to visit the Northumberland Arms for lunch as we had checked and it was dog friendly. And boy was it! When we arrived the lovely staff seated us at a nice cosy table with arm chairs and space fir us to settle the dog, when taking our drinks order they asked if the dog wanted a bowl of water. They also have an actual 3 course menu with 3 chooses of each course for dogs, brilliant! We had a baked Camembert to share, then chicken schnitzel and sea bass, doggo had pease pudding and ham then sausage and mash. The staff were lovely, the food was excellent. The only negative we had was nothing to do with the restaurant itself but a very entitled home counties couple, she was making a big fuss about how parched her dog was, so being kind I said the dog could take a drink out of our dogs bowl, to which they picked up his bowl took it over to her table where her dog didn’t want a drink at all and kept it. We had to ask staff for another bowl of water for our dog. Why are people like that????

We absolutely loved our stay at the Northumberland Arms in Morpeth. As a family of one parent and two kids, we were all impressed with the spacious room and luxurious bathroom. The high-quality bed linens made for a super comfortable night’s sleep, and the room had everything we needed, with great amenities provided throughout. The location is incredibly convenient, with ample parking right on site, making it easy for us to come and go. We also had dinner at the restaurant, and it was delicious! The sticky toffee pudding was a first for us, and it was absolutely amazeballs—we’re still talking about it! The wine selection was also great, and we all enjoyed the meal. Breakfast the next morning was good, though it leaned a bit more towards carb-heavy options. Still, it was tasty and a solid start to the day. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend the Northumberland Arms, especially for families. It’s a perfect blend of comfort, quality, and convenience!

This place has never disappointed. Had another excellent meal this week whilst staying locally in Felton. Lovely ambiance, friendly and courteous staff, and excellent food. The food is priced at the higher end of what most pubs might charge but if you're on holiday and want to treat yourself then in my view it's very worth it. You can tell it’s a popular venue from the numbers of cars parked on the road outside. The ambiance is good, the staff were pleasant and the food was good. My observation are personal preferences…..the Yorkshire pudding probably took up a third of the plate, I found it difficult to cut, and you were left wondering if you’d knock other items of the plate. I’d rather have two small Yorkshires, so you can “manage” them. The belly pork was ok but didn’t appear to come with crackling. Why are you only ever asked about sauces/condiments once the food has been brought!? I asked for apple sauce, almost 5 minutes later it came in a chilled metal pot, I suspect straight from the fridge……I prefer mine warm or at least room temperature…..the request for additional gravy never materialised.

Very tasty food, feels posh and classy. Collapsible child bed in room hopelessly soft, thankfully room for 3 in the main bed, certainly in our room above the kitchens, where the radio/music comes up through the floorboards until 11pm. Delightful dogs menu almost makes us want to get another dog for next time. Got our breakfast order slightly wrong .. what they call Eggs Royale came without egg?? Overall, would still return and sincerely recommend. Oooh. And I thought I'd found the first shower this side of the 21st century that wasn't thermostatically controlled but having this evening ventured further north into Scotland I find the same here in another £200 a night room so guess it's a thing up here. Where's that north south divide? They have in Yorkshire

We were treated to an evening meal at this establishment by friends in the area. I hesitate to say “pub” as the meal was definitely elevated fare. Having said that, the ambience was relaxed and although they were extremely busy for a Thursday night, and I'm sure the staff felt they were rushed off their collective feet, we never felt anxious. Loved that the dog could be with us, and personally, if some people were a little exasperated with the pace of service, I look at that as a positive. Good to see such commerce after the carnage caused by the pandemic.

We both agreed it was as nice as Michelin star restaurants for more than double the price! The menu has been put together with a lot of love by a very talented chef, and was full of unique and interesting dishes, high quality seasonal ingredients and tempting touches that you could come every day for weeks before running out of something you’re excited to order. Everything was 10/10 and if we’re ever in the area it will be a pleasure to go back. Mam and I went for Sunday roasts (lamb for mam, pork belly for me). The dinners arrived beautifully presented. First impressions were positive. We each thought our roasts were very good. Depth and breadth of flavour across the ensemble of roasties, gravy, braised red cabbage and carrots. There was a touch of green cabbage in there and a couple of florets of broccoli. Both meats cooked perfectly. A grand Yorkshire pudding topped off the dishes. We were happy to leave a gratuity. It’s clear the staff care, which is lovely.

Sadly, we only found this restaurant right at the end of our holiday in Northumberland. It was the only food place that didn't disappoint at all. We both had the game pie, lovely pastry, totally encasing venison, pheasant, pigeon and partridge - and a piece of shot for my husband :) Wonderful mash, delicious gravy and finely chopped cabbage and mustard. Chips for him, also great. Dessert of apple and spiced pear crumble with ice cream AND custard. The cheesecake was too creamy and not cheesy enough for me but my husband loved it, so we swapped. Proper old fashioned crumble, not a load of oats and nuts and biscuits on the top. Waitress was perfect, friendly, professional and kept us informed of what was going on. There was some wait for each course but it was well worth it when the food came, not a problem at all. And it's a lovely old refurbished building. Highly recommended.

Called in for food before going to a gig. Couldn't fault anything. I had a large glass of house red, m/r steak frites with buttered greens. Finished with a double espresso. It all helped with the 2.5hrs of driving I had to do after the gig.

Last week we came as a family of 5 to celebrate my husband’s 60th, for a traditional roast dinner. Not living in the area but visiting for a week’s holiday, dining out can always be something of a lottery, however we felt we struck gold with this establishment!!! The food was absolutely superb!!! As was lunch the following Saturday when we returned again - we were that impressed! The atmosphere was relaxed and informal - but attentive - with exceptional quality ingredients and presentation. Trevor was a delight as were all of the other waiting staff. We will definitely be back when we’re in the area and will highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Called in for lunch today and as usual it was just amazing. Our 2 Goldies had the fish off the doggie menu and really enjoyed it. Will be back as soon as we are in the area.

What a fantastic way to celebrate our 33 year wedding anniversary. The food, the team that looked after us and the whole night were simply magic. We are already planning to return and have Sunday lunch. Thank you

Booked for an lunch. We were seated in the conservatory. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. There was only the lunch menu on. We ordered drinks & then just mains. I opted for the crispy chicken ceaser salad wrap, my partner ordered the game pie ( may include shot aka part of the bullet) & my daughter the soup. The wrap was lovely, I ended up having it with the soup & it was as tasty would 100% get it again, my daughter wasn’t a fan of the seeds on top of the soup, so she ended up with my skin on fries. Apparently the game pie was unreal a proper pie. It’s only our 2nd visit here, we came across it by accident & we absolutely love. Will definitely be trying there sister pub in ponteland as well

We recently had the best night away here and could not fault anything. From the moment we arrived we we greeted by friendly staff and taken to our room - tastefully decorated and spotless clean we knew we were in for a relaxing night. We had a room with a stand-alone bath tub which oozed luxury and calm. Just what we needed after a busy Christmas. We dined in the bar/snug area of the restaurant and the food was Devine. Beautifully presented and full of flavour, it was obvious the chefs work hard to produce a menu which isn’t just your average pub food. This was special and pleased my fiancé on every level which isn’t easy when it comes to food. We had three courses and each one left us wanting more - I’m still dreaming about the crumble dessert. Having had the most comfortable nights sleep and woken fresh and recharged, we headed down for breakfast and this ended our stay on a high. Homemade granola and fresh fruit along with a full English breakfast set us both up for a day exploring Northumberland. The produce was clearly high quality and locally sourced, making the his breakfast extra special. This place is the perfect retreat away from home, not too far from the city but far enough to feel you are away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. We couldn’t recommend it enough.

Our server knew very little about their products - didn’t know if they were serving cocktails , didn’t know which country a particular wine was from . Website states it’s vegetarian friendly but there was very limited veggie choices for two of our party. Starters were lovely , but then we waited a good 25/30 minutes for the mains . They didn’t all come out together and when I asked where one of the dishes we were still waiting for was I was told “ oh that will be out in a few minutes “ Steak was bleeding all over the plate , hand cut chips were potatoes cut into huge chunks and had almost no colour or taste . We were disappointed especially after the positive reviews. Maybe it was just an off night .

We pre-booked a table approx 45mins prior to arriving and there was plenty of availability and so we expected it to be quiet and probably lacking in atmosphere, how wrong we were. The restaurant was very busy and the atmosphere was warmly welcoming and pleasant. The table was dressed formerly yet it felt comfortable and not stuffy. We ordered from the lunch menu and all three of us decided to have the fish and chips, WOW! We can honestly say these are in our top 5 of all fish and chips that we've ever eaten. Beautifully cooked fish in a light, crispy and non greasy batter, served with homemade hugely chunky chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. Amazing quality food and cooked superbly. We also ordered from the doggy menu a portion of sausage, mash and peas which our little pooch devoured. A fab portion and not a drop left for him, it was lovely to see a dedicated doggy menu and quite the novelty. Service from everyone was superb and we will 100% return and recommend. Great job from all for a fabulous lunch, Thankyou.

Absolutely brilliant - home made fish & chips - fresh & delicious. We took two home made cakes away and they too were delicious. Well done 👍
