Good selection of light meals available. Service good, food tasty, portion size was perfectly adequate as a light meal. Very busy as it was lunchtime during half term. Staff capable and friendly. Only slight downside was the limited toilet facilities, but as Hexham Abbey is just across the road, and has its own toilet facilities, that would have been the back up plan if it had been needed.

Food tasted great but small portion. Individual pie, crisps and coleslaw. Tiny pie, a few crisps, one teaspoon of coleslaw and one lettuce leaf, half a tomato. Not value for money at all.

I've been a regular here through 3 owners. The latest owner had a rough first week with coffee problems- pretty important no matter how good the food. After getting a new machine, training staff to use it and carefully considering things like cup size for different shots, experimenting with all the details that it takes to produce consistently good coffee- it's back to a great standard. For me it's the best coffee in town again- especially if you drink it black where there is no sweet milk to hide the core flavour. Food is still excellent value and well made. And staff have always been friendly and helpful too. If you've been waiting for the new owners to settle in, I think you'll be pleased now.

our third visit here, call into Hexham occasionally. We had a latte & a flat white. There was no trace of coffee in either cup. They were both like hot watery milk. Our cheese scones arrived when we had finished our drinks- too late. Took them home, they were dry. Have already decided which cafe will visit for the next time & it won't be here.

We called here for breakfast based on the reviews, how we wished we hadn't. Waitress was run off her feet and not the most accommodating. Waited at least 15 minutes for our order to be taken. You could see the cooks making the food and we all noticed how breakfast items were cooked one at a time and then placed on the plates under hot lights until the rest was done and there was a lot of microwaving of pre cooked food!!!. The food was dry and burnt and not worth the wait.

We visited Hexham yesterday and found this café in the Market Place, after a lovely River Tyne walk. It was quite busy at 1pm but we didn't have to wait long for our table. The girls made us feel very welcome and worked so hard while we were there clearing tables and getting everyone seated as soon as possible. My husband had a bacon sarnie and I had a ham and mushroom omelette which was so light and fluffy, delicious. Coffees were great too. Plenty of choice on the menu and great prices. Doggy friendly too with a treat for pooch 🐾

We are a group of retired gentlemen who meet in various places around the Northeast of England for a walk, friendly chat a cup of tea/coffee and a scone. The lovely cafe in the picturesque, historic town of Hexham has to go down as one of the best we have ever visited. The young staff were friendly, polite and efficient. Service was excellent. The fruit scones were probably the best we’ve had in the 7 years we’ve been meeting. WELL DONE Small World Cafe. We will definitely be back

Very busy, a little bit noisy. Latte and cheese scone very nice. One very big no no is that the staff scrape waste food from plates into a bin in front of the counter right next to tables where customers eat their meals. Not a nice sight and most off putting. The staff need to work with a smile on their faces and be more pleasant. We will not return because of the waste disposal bin.

We haven't been in for a long while and because it wasn't busy (it often is) we went in. We sat in the window overlooking the Market Place. We enjoyed a lovely big coffee and nice cheese and fruit scones. We found it quite noisy, maybe the floor bounces the sound back, even though the background music was quiet. Reasonable prices. There is plenty of outside seating for fine days. Beware small step down when entering toilet. We shall return more frequently.

You could not find a better spot to sit and enjoy the superb very reasonably priced food from a varied menu be it a hot meal or just what I call proper Coffee and a delish home made tray bake or scone in the lovely Market Place of Hexham to watch the world go by. A few more added plus points are that it is Dog friendly, with seating outdoors for when the sun is out when you can relax and enjoy the ambience with an amazingly refreshing Fruit Shake or sip Whine or Beer if you so wish. Being a regular we can honestly say that Angela and her merry team could not be more attentive or considerate of Customers who are lucky enough to spend time there.

Great choice and they were careful taking my order, making sure it was ordered as gluten free. I had jacket potato with beef chilli and crisps on the side. There was also a great choice of gluten free cakes. I had chocolate brownie and took carrot cake away with me. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Popped in on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Varied menu to suit all palates. We chose a ham salad bun and a bacon, bri & cranberry panini, my husband got water, I opted for a white wine (why not).. Unfortunately it was Chardonnay, on paying the bill I said the wine was the only minus of the lunch, she pointed out that I should of been offered a choice on ordering of that or SB, which I would of preferred. I'll know the next time as we'll definitely return. Staff all polite and efficient.

Lovely staff! Squeezed me in near to closing time, but didn't rush me or compromise on service. Lots of food had run out for the day (a good sign!) but I was offered soup and a sandwich as a compromise of what I'd been looking at on the menu. Both were very tasty, and I grabbed a box of small pastries to take away - these were delicious.
