This is our local regular spot for coffee, cakes, and lunch. The food is always tasty and piping when served. The carrot cake (and Lime & Blueberry cake) are to die for! The staff are all great, especially the lovely lady with red hair that is front of house most of the time (since been told her name is Caroline from one of the lovely guys) - she is always happy, smiley, and very sociable with all the customers - she is fantastic at her job! The tables are always cleared quickly even at the peak of the day. The general atmosphere is great, and I like it's the general buzz of conversation you hear rather than music playing away in the background like a lot of places. People are quick to post negative stuff online - be kind and post the good stuff too! ❤️

Beautiful cafe in Cresswell with an extensive menu. Decent coffee nice bacon & sausage Butty and yummy flapjack for £16. And although not cheap I thought but decent value for such a nice cafe, and I sat outside with many others as it was a beautiful day…

I have been coming on and off to this cafe for years, the people change often but always the quality never does change, top quality food, love the bread they use for toast. Today I had a bacon & egg toasted sandwich, a coffee, bag of dog sausages and a scone to go, £17 ish, not cheap, BUT the food is freshly prepared, top quality and cooked to order, the service is fast, friendly & efficient and honestly, those scones are to die for, a different type every day. Dog & child friendly. Perfect! This cafe is spot on! 😁

Very milky cappuccino, excellent scones, beautiful location, all spoilt by smelly dogs and some smelly people coming straight into the cafe from the beach. There ought to be a designated area for dogs. This place is worth 5 stars otherwise. Just an update, (some years later!) Things haven't changed much, the coffee and bacon sandwiches are still very good but the place is extremely busy (always!) with dogs everywhere in the cafe, you have to wonder about hiygene, or the lack of it! A waitress at a table near us accidentally dropped a tray full of tea pots, cups etc. The tea and milk was spilt everywhere. The people moved to a new table while 2 members of staff wiped up the mess.... They used the same cloth to clean the table, the chairs and the floor! Shocking. Why on earth not have a separate area for dogs?

We spent a lovely afternoon at the Drift Cafe in Cresswell. The staff were so pleasant and put up with us very fussy ladies, making sure we were happy. The homemade gammon broth and cheese and chive scones were delicious, highly recommended especially on cold winter days. Definitely worth a visit.

The Drift used to be a fab cafe very geared to dog folk, who kept it going over the winter months. It’s bigger, less friendly only because it’s just so busy, and with that, inevitably it seems attention and helpfulness has reduced. Despite having to get a numbered table before ordering, staff seem not to know where the numbers are. Signs everywhere saying no dogs on the seats (of rough wooden benches) or on laps!!! A dog in an area next to the cafe, barked all the time at customers dogs, no sausages on offer to the dogs which they used to do, no bowls of cold water for them either. Sadly, won’t be going back. So many better places now.

Lovely location right by miles of sandy beach and dunes for walking. Plenty of free parking nearby too. Plenty of inside and outside seating and clean toilets. Extensive menu prepared to order including regional specialities like stotties and haggis. Home made cakes are delicious. Despite being very busy and staff working hard they still have time for a friendly chat with customers. Tables are cleared quickly and kept clean . Walls are adorned with local artwork which is for sale and there is an area selling local food and craft products. Lovely stop off when walking in the area or having a beach day. If you like listening to loud, opinionated OAPs that support Nigel Farage this is the cafe for you. First and last time visiting I also didn't realise that it was dog friendly I don't understand how cafes serving food allow this. I wouldn't bring my cat to breakfast with me and he's an emotional support animal. The food was not up to much and certainly wouldn't say it was worth £25 for a full breakfast and fried egg sandwich with a Bailey's hot chocolate. And as the owner states everyone is entitled to opinion. Just like everyone has a bum hole doesn't mean everyone needs to hear or see it. But if this cafe supports racist, misogynist and homophobic views I wish them all the best.

Food was gorgeous, vegetable broth out of this world. However lunch ruined by the sheer number of dogs in the cafe and their constant whining. As there are different rooms to eat in could you not make at least one dog free? I was uncomfortable when I saw one guest allowing her dog to lick the corner of the table repeatedly. When the table was cleared it wasn't fully wiped. Surely if dogs are allowed in then extra care should be taken with cleaning. A shame as the food was amazing. We've eaten there 3 times but this will make me think twice about going again.

We stopped by for a bite to eat following a long leisurely walk on the beach. We had lovely food and ended up staying for an extra drink and some cake following some lunch. Our little one was well catered for and the staff were all very welcoming for an October half term drop in. The cafe is a little expensive as they have a monopoly on the area (only other eatery is a ice cream shop up the road) but the quality, staff and quantity made up for it in my opinion. We'll be back.

This is an updated review for the Drift cafe at Cresswell. This cafe used to be amazing with really nice fresh food & lovely staff. However on recent visits this establishment has greatly declined in both food quality & service. Recently we visited & ordered various breakfast sandwiches, slices of cake & toasted teacakes with hot drinks. On ordering we were asked if we wanted sauce on the sandwiches. When our order arrived the sandwiches & the tea cake had sauce on. When asking the staff why their was brown sauce on a fruit teacake we were very rudely told, that's what you ordered. No offer to change or refund so my 74 year old father who has terminal cancer had nothing to eat. The cakes were dry & not fresh & the quality of the breakfast sandwiches poor. This was meant to be a nice family trip out for one of my father's final memories but was ruined by the rude & callous staff. A lovely local cafe spoiled by greed & incompetence.

We’ve just had another fortnight at Druridge Bay and so visiting The Drift Cafe was a regular activity. As usual it was fantastic, the food is excellent, the staff so warm and friendly we can’t fault it. To the people giving bad reviews based on the price, you really need to get out more as their prices are normal and reasonable. To the people giving bad reviews based on surly and unfriendly staff, I’m afraid that says more about you than it does about them. You get what you project perhaps if you go in there a little less demanding and entitled people would be friendlier to you, think about it.

We requested sausages instead of chicken nuggets for the kids meal, but they refused, despite serving all day breakfasts. The wrap was acceptable but that’s about all, and the whole experience cost £39 for 2 adults and 1 child for lunch. Last time we had some great fish and chips, which they don’t even serve now.
