We ordered a scone and a toastie. After a 20 minute wait the scones was delivered and 15 minutes after that the cheese onion and tomato toastie arrived. No garnish. Not worth waiting for. A thin slice of brown bread with the woody bits of tomato included. We won't be back.

Popped in for brunch and didn’t disappoint. Beautiful fresh brioche breakfast bun, with fried egg, local bacon and sausage. A lovely dish. Fab service as ever. A little gem in Hexham.

The Queen’s Hall cafe is a very pleasant place for hot drinks and snacks. We were only in for drinks and my wife declared her flat white to be fantastic while I was more than happy with my generous pot of tea. We didn’t have room for food, but the scones look to be rather good - especially their famed cheese and bacon ones.

Really like this place. Limited menu but very tasty food and very good coffee. A great atmosphere: seems to be a popular place to catch up with friends for a natter...

We have visited the queen's Hall often. Particularly after rhyme time at the library when they have welcomed children/families and the relative chaos they bring. Today we visited with a small child and a lady in particular was so exceptionally rude that we had to leave. She could clearly see that my child was struggling and created a made up rule that my child had to be seated while in the cafe. This lead to a complete break down and meant we had to leave the cafe with a half finished meal and not a sip of tip tea being drunk. I will NEVER return. The Rising Cafe welcome us with open arms and that is where will visit in future

We moved to Corbridge, a nearby village, back in August 2022, and we came into Hexham for a walk around with both sets of grandparents! What an absolutely brilliant find! Lots of staff milling around but service was very slow. When the food eventually arrived part of the order was wrong - not what we asked for but that was down to us apparently! Replaced with the correct order eventually. Food is great but service is ridiculously slow for the number of staff they have.

Spacious, but lacking in ambience. Staff ranged from super friendly to snotty. Everyone raves about scones which were ok. Though I didn’t have the cheese one and that did look a lot better than my plain scone. Coffee ok. Nothing to get excited about though.

We are fairly regular customers who live about 45 minutes away and pop in when we can. Consistently excellent and the Croque Monsieur is a total indulgence. Chocolate Tiffin is amazing. Scones great. Today we had the Full English for the first time, and it was top notch. So much attention to detail in the sourcing of ingredients, seasoning and cooking. Another new favourite 😋

Today I visited with my elderly relatives in their 80s. The food was absolutely delicious but two males working today had absolutely no respect for elderly people. Firstly a young male with a hair bun and glasses working on the coffee machine addressed my uncle with very little respect. My uncle was unsure of where to order from due to there being a few counters and screens. He stood at the till for a second then saw the young boy with the glasses and hair bun and the boy shouted “no!” At my uncle and pointed at the correct place. Like my uncle was a fool. It really upset me personally as my uncle should be treat with respect. Then we were served by another man with short hair glasses and tattoos. He was also exceptionally rude to my uncle. As my uncle was ordering toasties the man kept talking over him and saying would you like crisps and salad with that and my uncle didn’t hear as there was a screen in the way and he was looking at the menu and the man contributed to talk over my uncle and repeat himself until my uncle heard. It was honestly disgusting. Completely disrespectful and a disgrace. If the men working there today do not like their jobs or have any value for their customers maybe seek out a different job where they don’t have to deal with customers.

We visit here every Saturday morning and have not been let down once. This is high praise indeed and to keep up that standard constantly is a rare gift. The staff are friendly and attentive. I have visited on several Saturdays, just for the scones! It's a very noisy echoing space and it's really hard to have a conversation. The decor is quite tired and the furnishings do look as if they've been sourced from a skip or a junk shop. The chairs are not comfortable at all. Service is painfully slow even though the staff seem to be constantly busy. You have to help yourself to cutlery, water and serviettes (if there are any on the windowsill) Allow plenty of time for your visit. You can spend up to 30 minutes in the queue with only four people in front of you and it's usually 20 - 50 minutes after that before you get your order.

Housed within Queens Hall Arts Centre is this gem of a cafe, with deceptively simple fayre of scones, home bakes, soup and sandwiches. All done to perfection though and therein lies the secret. Honestly the sandwiches are delicious - mine was beef and blue cheese. They are all served with a vibrant salad. The scones I hear of taking on legendary status and I can testify that someone here knows their coffee too - its just lovely. What a clean, simply furnished space, Scandinavian in feel, warm and inviting with friendly and rightly proud staff. Thank you, a lovely visit.

I chose this venue for an important meeting because I currently have a leg in a half plaster and I knew there was manoeuvring space between the tables. That was the extent of my needs and expectations. Boy, was this a revelation. They clearly pride themselves on their baked goods and rightly so; I've never had a cheese and bacon scone before and it was sublime! But equally striking was the wide range of unusual coffees; what's a babycino? And how big is the "big marshmallow" which is available on request to top off a hot chocolate? All the food which came across the counter was prepared in open view and looked gorgeous. Utterly family friendly. There's a microwave for bottles and a free hot water dispenser, plus discreet cushioned seats in the same area for breastfeeding. It's a lovely atmosphere. I was really, really impressed and will be back even after my leg is mended!

Scones were out of this world. The only problem here is the lack of small tables. Most of the tables are for 6 and its a bit off putting trying to have a conversation, just the two of you, when sharing a table with another 4 strangers. However well recommended.

If you choose the afternoon tea, you'd better not eat the day before 😂 or at least take one or two items in a box with you when you leave. You WILL be full! The pies, scones and cakes are all top tier (the cheesecake is my fave), and the sandwiches are so fresh and yummy (and big).

Great restaurant with 5-star service. Loved the small menu - 3 choices each course, although I think that made it harder for me to choose cause they all sounded fantastic! The restaurant were happy for us to share our starters as didn’t want to fill up but didn’t want to miss out! Also - fantastic wine choices! Nothing seemed too much for the staff! Thank you for making my dinner so special!
