Food very good, reception and dining room staff friendly and helpful. Bar staff not very good, one female brusque to the point of rudeness. Rooms small and not very comfortable, no where to relax in the rooms apart from on the uncomfortable bed. Not an issue if there were comfortable chairs and communal areas to relax for hotel guests or even comfortable chairs in the bar areas which there wasn’t. Would not recommend as a hotel or a bar to visit but food was good

We love the Olde Ship and ate here 3 times during our week up the Coast. Sunday dinner (birthday evening meal) was amazing. Loads of beef, excellent veg and a rich gravy. My beetroot feta salad starter was lovely. My other half wasn't too well but enjoyed the cauliflower soup...he raved about the butter served with the bread! A lunch of smoked cheese sarni I fries and more soup followed a day or so later...excellent again and weather good enough to sit outside. Bonus. Had a chuckle with the bar staff when my tip became extremely generous but was quickly amended with lots of apologies. Very well dealt with. Our last evening meal of the week was equally as good ...I had the beetroot feta starter again, OH had the famous crab soup..loved it. I went for the pie and mash...excellent all round and he had the chowder. Fabulous! The Olde Shipp didn't disappoint at all...very friendly efficient staff and amazing food. Can't wait to return.

Well, where do I start. First of all to the positives. The actual pub/restaurant is fantastic, really well decorated and feels great. Now on to the not so great… we ordered the special steak pie and children’s cheeseburger both were really good. My wife and other son had the fish goujons and chicken burger. Both were absolutley awful as they had clearly been cooked on dirty grease. I brought this to the attention of the duty manager who told me that they ‘looked fine and must be fine as nobody else had complained’ I’m sorry but the fact that nobody else has complained is not a reason that it’s okay. I told her that both were foul. To which she replied ‘well I think you’re foul’ seriously!!. To be told that when you’re out with your family (kids aged 4 and 8 ) is incredible and also totally unacceptable . I was only bringing to their attention that the oil they used was dirty. It wasn’t an opinion, it was a fact. To then be told I was foul was completely uncalled for. They took the price of one of the kids meals off the bill - not that I was looking for any discount and u make this crystal clear, I was purely bringing this to their attention (conveniently the meal they did discount was the cheapest, even although both were foul) They also then charged us for a coffee that we did not have and that was not on our bill. They did refund this, however, the attitude of the duty manager was truly awful. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Three of us ate here last night. I ordered drinks at the bar and was served with the frostiest reception I’ve ever experienced. The lady behind the bar looked inconvenienced by my presence and huffed her way through my order and the request for a menu. Drinks secured, I returned to the bar to order our food- three steak pies with veg and chips. The food came out within 5 mins (suggesting that not much is prepared “fresh”) and we were staggered by the size of the pie. For £18 per meal it was an insult. The pie was around the size of a small pork pie and we probably made it last four bites at most. Stunned and not in a good way. We will not return.

Had the most wonderful 5 day stay in this quaint hotel, staff were very welcoming when I arrived and felt very much ar home as I was travelling solo. Breakfast was just perfect for me, with a good variety of hot choices, I ate in the restaurant 3 evenings again a great choice, served by a lovely waitress Brooke who was very friendly and attentive. My double room was not overly large but had everything I needed and had a great ensuite with a beautiful bath, it would have been nice if bath salts or bath oils had been supplied. Beer garden great with plenty of seating areas and a great sun trap when the sun appears 😀 Overall a great place to stay, and I will definitely return if I'm back on the Northumberland Coast

Visiting family up north and decided to take a few days for ourselves and planned a trip to the Farne Islands. The Olde Ship is a place I remember fondly from my youth and is in a prime location so I booked the four poster bed room. It is a lovely large square room with windows on two side and a large en-suite. Two minutes walk from the hotel are the boat trips in the harbour, we would advise booking in advance as the get very busy and fully booked up. There are a few to choose from including, sunset cruises and longer trips with landing options. The hotel has the most atmospheric bars, narrow corridors adorned with maritime treasures and a rousing bar with live music at weekends. The full seaside experience. Breakfast is excellent, my husband had the kippers every morning and I opted for eggs. Service was great and the food delicious. Seahouses is small so within minute walk are other place to eat too, Italian, Indian, ice cream to die for and of course fish and chips. I’m told the best fish and chips ever, but it’s not for us so we can’t comment. The beach is fabulous and we walked up to Bamburgh Castle, swimming in the sea on the way back. We were there the last week of July and had the most glorious heat wave. The only element that could be improved is the shower, it is very old and sounds like generator.

Between them, the four other parties in our small room at the Olde Ship's restaurant end had brought five dogs. Two of these were well-behaved, but the other three, predictably, barked at one another, intermittently, deafeningly and intolerably. Of the well-behaved dogs, one was vast, and intruded all over our space, lying down in a posture which blocked our access to the whole of the outside world. This supine monster might have impeded the staff too, had they not been so evidently content to leave us substantially undisturbed by menus, the taking of orders, the delivery of food, &c. We would have paid and left much sooner had we been given the opportunity.

The Olde Ship Inn is simply the best. Te rooms are warm cosy and well equipped. The bathroom was clean, modern with fabulously powerful and hot shower. The food was delicious. Kippers at breakfast were special. Roast on Sunday was full, hot tasty and beautifully presented. The building bar restaurant and common parts are all well cared for and interesting. But the best thing about the Olde Ship Inn is the team. All were warm, friendly, relaxed, professional and helpful. I would single out Ashley on reception and in the restaurant as providing top service. He was attentive, helpful and I know put in a real long shift the day we arrived but still did a great job.

Went in here whilst we were waiting for our Indian takeaway. Went in the first section which was busy. Worked our way round to the other side of the bar were there were seats. Got told by a very unfriendly local at the bar that dogs were not allowed in this bar, and we should go somewhere else. Another drinker said we were okay. The bar staff had seen us walk in with our dog as well and said nothing. Didn't see signs on the door to this bar saying no dogs either. Anyway with the guys arrogance we decided it wasn't worth it. We thanked the other fella and went over the road to the Bamburgh Castle. Much nicer environment and IS dog friendly.

Been coming to The Ship Inn for many years now. Used to love the crab sandwiches. Not anymore. I understand prices have risen recently, and don't mind paying the price. The pub is as you'd expect, old but quaint so no real issue there. Sat in the restaurant. The menu was quite limited. The waitress Kim said something about it was a new chef/proper chef! So we all have high hopes for the food. This was short lived, the burgers were dry overdone with no flavour, the sausages, very overdone in fact , almost burnt the crab soup tasted more like tomato soup! Will not return.

Awful pub. Bar staff rude. Beer terrible. Especially SeaHouse Stack. Terrible taste when I asked at bar said it was a new barrel. Not family friendly wouldn’t let our 14 year old son stay in main bar after we had been served so had to stand next to toilets, kitchen and exit where people kept walking past. Such a shame as we were on holiday and hoping to stay for a while. Not in that pub though again. Went across the road to the other pub across road Bamburgh Castle Inn….proper pub.

The room was comfortable with a modern clean bathroom. The tea and coffee provided was of good quality (Ringtons). The breakfast offered a good choice with continental and cooked options. My husband enjoyed the fresh kippers. The bar area was cosy and traditional with hand pulled ales. There was a charming fire and it was lovely to sit there and relax. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday dinner with gluten free and vegetarian options. There was a good choice of meats. The presentation was stylish and it was very tasty. I enjoyed the lemon curd Eton Mess for dessert. Seahouses is a great location on the Northumbrian coastline. We’ll definitely return one day.

Nice toilets, even if a rabbit warren via two kitchen doors and numerous nooks to find them. Tables do not appear to be inviting or conducive to enjoying a restaurant styled menu. Given that this venue charges premium restaurant charges. At the bar we were initially ignored and when asked where the menus were so we can review at a table told surly “they just everywhere”. Both the food and drink here is good. Service can be a bit slow at times but the food is worth the wait. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Went to the Old Ship as an alternative to our hotel across the road Loved the memorabilia on the walls: could have spent a day looking round Food OK but overpriced. I get the impression that the Seahouses hostellries have an agreement to keep board...

Waited 50 minutes for a bacon sandwich. Gave up after the fifth table that ordered after me was served. No apologies no offer of a refund. Worst service I’ve had in years. Smables

The bar itself was lovely, crammed with nautical memorabilia. Good choice of quality beers, not too expensive. However, it was completely ruined by the couldn't care attitude of one mature lady member of staff. As customers we were treated with disdain, and were treated as...

A great pub for drinks. We had already eaten by the time we called in to the Old Ship, so can’t comment on the food. But all the different bar areas and nooks and crannies make this an unmisseable place for a drink in Seahouses.

Went for lunch on a Sunday we thought the Sunday roast was way overpriced so we paid nearly forty pounds for two ploughman's and two pints of what they told us was draft lager, the ploughman's consisted of 5 stalks of wet celery ( the...

Great outdoor area with fantastic views. Really good outdoor space for dogs. The waiter in the wine and beer area is lovely and friendly. The waitress inside seemed confused/rude when people came in for other drinks as they only sell wine & beer outside. We...

This place is the real deal. It has the most interesting collection of marine memorabilia scattered throughout the Inn. The Pub is very popular, good beer. Good food in the restaurant. Everyone is pleasant. The only drawback, they seemed to be very short staffed when...

The cafe prices are ludicrous. £3.45 for a toasted tea cake with barely any fruit in it is ridiculous as is a fiver for two cups of tea and £9 for a cooked breakfast!! The staff are not the most pleasant either. Sadly the shop and garden centre prices are way off the scale too compared to most other garden centres. Definitely would not recommend or revisit.

Called in at lunchtime for a couple of drinks. This is the second time but no more. A man, the same on both occasions standing at bar had the foulest loud mouth He was actually talking to the barman and two others Every other word began with "f' He had a dog with him This time he pulled seat out at one of the tables for his dog to sit at Absolutely disgusting. My husband mentioned to barman who grinned and apologised Not good enough

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.

Popped in for lunch on a day over to Lindisfarne. Despite advertising that they cater for gluten free, a disappointing menu. When I asked at the bar if they do anything gluten free, the barman said that anything gluten free will have GF after it on menu, but they can do any sandwich with gluten free bread. There were no meals suitable on menu, so I went back to bar and asked if their spread was dairy free. Barmaid gives a big sigh and goes to check. Comes back to say yes it is, what do you want- like it was a big inconvenience for her. It’s not my husbands fault that he has allergies. Such attitude makes me wonder how anyone goes back here. Sarnie was ok but they didnt seem to do it separate to normal food as hubby found a bit of grated cheese attached to his bread. If he hadn’t spotted it, he would have been I’ll. overpriced too as the bread was just normal sliced bread. WONT BE GOING BACK!
