Lovely spot for a drink. Steph, who was on the bar, was lovely and attentive and made a great recommendation of dry rose wine. We chatted about general life, and she informed me that she was not a local but travelled quite a distance for work because she loves the working environment at The Olde Ship Inn and has really felt like she has settled in quite quickly. You would never have known that she has only worked a handful of shifts. Total asset to the business and you are lucky to have such a welcoming and lovely member of your team. Thank you Steph, I popped in for a quiet drink after losing my beloved companion (Luther - my dog) and she really made the experience pleasant. Great job Steph, we need more people like you within the industry. Nothing was a bother and she was on hand attentively. My glass was never empty. Thank you so much, Steph, I will be back to try the menu next time!

Another Sunday and another trip out, today’s destination Seahouses and a 1500 booking at The Olde Ship Inn as chosen by my good lady friend, this venue was chosen for location and because it’s dog friendly, yes, the dogs came out again. We were early, like half an hour early so had a look around The Olde Ship Inn before heading to the restaurant bit to eat, what a quirky venue, watch your head if you’re over 6’5” like myself though. After having a little mooch around inside The Olde Ship Inn we headed to the dining room/restaurant area and were greeted by Steph who offered us a nice little table in the corner of the entrance to the main dining area, although this little table was very almost a TripAdvisor point loser a little later on! Steph took our drinks order in, I had a 0% Guinness and a pint of lager shandy for my good lady. Steph then kindly provided my better half with a couple of water bowls for the dogs. Steph then asked if we both had any allergies that the kitchen should be aware of and to give her a little wave when we were ready to order, a nice considerate touch there. I’d spotted a trio of meats sharer for two for £40 on the menu and a sideboard sharer for £10 which included extra roasties, gravy, cauliflower cheese and pigs’n’blankets etc and so we opted for this feast. I took a risk by not having ordered in starters but this possibly turned out to be my smartest move of the day. Our food arrived in reasonably good time and there was loads, and I mean loads brought to our little table, an unbelievable platter of beautifully presented Sunday lunch goodies and there was more than enough for two people. Now, I’m a big eater but even I couldn’t have managed a starter and then all this food to follow! This is where my little table niggle and potential TripAdvisor point loser came into play, we were very lucky to get everything on that little table and I had to be very cautious as one false move and our plates might have been launched everywhere and the dogs might have got themselves a bonus meal, but with a bit of due care and attention, no accidents happened. The food was excellent, like really excellent, all the meats; beef, lamb and pork beautifully roasted, the Pig’n’Blankets were huge, the great big Yorkshire puddings were awesome and there was plenty of tasty gravy and great roasties. We were both absolutely stuffed after getting well stuck in, too stuffed to even entertain a pudding when Steph offered us the desserts menu, unfortunately. So overall, The Olde Ship Inn, well, I’ve got to give the place full marks mainly down to Steph who kindly and very politely served us and the excellent quality of good food served up that left us stuffed. The venue itself very quirky with a nice ambiance, I barely noticed the music playing so no problems having intimate conversations with your nearest and dearest dining partners there! Did we have sea views? No, but I wasn’t bothered about any of that, but I’ll gladly recommend The Olde Ship Inn if you’re visiting Seahouses, you’ll certainly leave with a very full tummy if you order in what I did.

Came here for our Sunday dinner while on holiday in Seahouses. Ashley met us in the bar area and took us to our spacious table for us and our 2 dogs. We both ordered the topside from the Sunday roast menu, our portion was huge with lots of veg and potatoes and meat was cooked to our liking. We both had desert which were also lovely. Great service and chat from Ashley throughout our meal. Definitely recommend a visit here and will return when back in the area.

Food very good, reception and dining room staff friendly and helpful. Bar staff not very good, one female brusque to the point of rudeness. Rooms small and not very comfortable, no where to relax in the rooms apart from on the uncomfortable bed. Not an issue if there were comfortable chairs and communal areas to relax for hotel guests or even comfortable chairs in the bar areas which there wasn’t. Would not recommend as a hotel or a bar to visit but food was good

We love the Olde Ship and ate here 3 times during our week up the Coast. Sunday dinner (birthday evening meal) was amazing. Loads of beef, excellent veg and a rich gravy. My beetroot feta salad starter was lovely. My other half wasn't too well but enjoyed the cauliflower soup...he raved about the butter served with the bread! A lunch of smoked cheese sarni I fries and more soup followed a day or so later...excellent again and weather good enough to sit outside. Bonus. Had a chuckle with the bar staff when my tip became extremely generous but was quickly amended with lots of apologies. Very well dealt with. Our last evening meal of the week was equally as good ...I had the beetroot feta starter again, OH had the famous crab soup..loved it. I went for the pie and mash...excellent all round and he had the chowder. Fabulous! The Olde Shipp didn't disappoint at all...very friendly efficient staff and amazing food. Can't wait to return.

Well, where do I start. First of all to the positives. The actual pub/restaurant is fantastic, really well decorated and feels great. Now on to the not so great… we ordered the special steak pie and children’s cheeseburger both were really good. My wife and other son had the fish goujons and chicken burger. Both were absolutley awful as they had clearly been cooked on dirty grease. I brought this to the attention of the duty manager who told me that they ‘looked fine and must be fine as nobody else had complained’ I’m sorry but the fact that nobody else has complained is not a reason that it’s okay. I told her that both were foul. To which she replied ‘well I think you’re foul’ seriously!!. To be told that when you’re out with your family (kids aged 4 and 8 ) is incredible and also totally unacceptable . I was only bringing to their attention that the oil they used was dirty. It wasn’t an opinion, it was a fact. To then be told I was foul was completely uncalled for. They took the price of one of the kids meals off the bill - not that I was looking for any discount and u make this crystal clear, I was purely bringing this to their attention (conveniently the meal they did discount was the cheapest, even although both were foul) They also then charged us for a coffee that we did not have and that was not on our bill. They did refund this, however, the attitude of the duty manager was truly awful. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Three of us ate here last night. I ordered drinks at the bar and was served with the frostiest reception I’ve ever experienced. The lady behind the bar looked inconvenienced by my presence and huffed her way through my order and the request for a menu. Drinks secured, I returned to the bar to order our food- three steak pies with veg and chips. The food came out within 5 mins (suggesting that not much is prepared “fresh”) and we were staggered by the size of the pie. For £18 per meal it was an insult. The pie was around the size of a small pork pie and we probably made it last four bites at most. Stunned and not in a good way. We will not return.

Visiting family up north and decided to take a few days for ourselves and planned a trip to the Farne Islands. The Olde Ship is a place I remember fondly from my youth and is in a prime location so I booked the four poster bed room. It is a lovely large square room with windows on two side and a large en-suite. Two minutes walk from the hotel are the boat trips in the harbour, we would advise booking in advance as the get very busy and fully booked up. There are a few to choose from including, sunset cruises and longer trips with landing options. The hotel has the most atmospheric bars, narrow corridors adorned with maritime treasures and a rousing bar with live music at weekends. The full seaside experience. Breakfast is excellent, my husband had the kippers every morning and I opted for eggs. Service was great and the food delicious. Seahouses is small so within minute walk are other place to eat too, Italian, Indian, ice cream to die for and of course fish and chips. I’m told the best fish and chips ever, but it’s not for us so we can’t comment. The beach is fabulous and we walked up to Bamburgh Castle, swimming in the sea on the way back. We were there the last week of July and had the most glorious heat wave. The only element that could be improved is the shower, it is very old and sounds like generator.

My double room was not overly large but had everything I needed and had a great ensuite with a beautiful bath, it would have been nice if bath salts or bath oils had been supplied. Beer garden great with plenty of seating areas and a great sun trap when the sun appears 😀 Overall a great place to stay, and I will definitely return if I'm back on the Northumberland Coast

Between them, the four other parties in our small room at the Olde Ship's restaurant end had brought five dogs. Two of these were well-behaved, but the other three, predictably, barked at one another, intermittently, deafeningly and intolerably. Of the well-behaved dogs, one was vast, and intruded all over our space, lying down in a posture which blocked our access to the whole of the outside world. This supine monster might have impeded the staff too, had they not been so evidently content to leave us substantially undisturbed by menus, the taking of orders, the delivery of food, &c. We would have paid and left much sooner had we been given the opportunity.

The Olde Ship Inn is simply the best. Te rooms are warm cosy and well equipped. The bathroom was clean, modern with fabulously powerful and hot shower. The food was delicious. Kippers at breakfast were special. Roast on Sunday was full, hot tasty and beautifully presented. The building bar restaurant and common parts are all well cared for and interesting. But the best thing about the Olde Ship Inn is the team. All were warm, friendly, relaxed, professional and helpful. I would single out Ashley on reception and in the restaurant as providing top service. He was attentive, helpful and I know put in a real long shift the day we arrived but still did a great job.

Got told by a very unfriendly local at the bar that dogs were not allowed in this bar, and we should go somewhere else. Another drinker said we were okay. The bar staff had seen us walk in with our dog as well and said nothing. Didn't see signs on the door to this bar saying no dogs either. Anyway with the guys arrogance we decided it wasn't worth it. We thanked the other fella and went over the road to the Bamburgh Castle. Much nicer environment and IS dog friendly.

Long wait for food, no indication given by staff re ordering. Chicken too hard, house salad just lettuce, chunky chips with gammon were black . Then they added the next table's drinks to our bill. Service terrible, staff disinterested. Never again.

Visited the Wellwood arms today for Sunday lunch, the standard carvery was about £15 and the large around £18 which isn’t a bad price for a good carvery, was disappointed that everything that make your Sunday dinner was frozen out of a bag, aunt Bessie style Yorkshire’s, frozen roast potatoes, frozen parsnip and stuffing was undercooked and bland wouldn’t have minded if it was a cheap dinner bit for those prices I’d of expected everything home cooked and fresh. On the upside the staff were very friendly and the place was exceptionally clean, just the carvery let it down a bit
