The Snowy Owl in Northumberland

Dreadful experience. Again. We came for Mothers day and it was awful. We gave it another chance today but once again were completely ddisappointed. The lady sat behind us was a member of staff and we overheard her saying everything is precooked and they just shove it in the microwave. I can confirm that the lukewarm food wasn't even reheated properly. Roasties were so rubbery I struggled to cut them up! The trio of meat was barely a sliver and it seems that even though we arrived and ordered a good 20 minutes before the lady behind us, she got preferential treatment and was served before us!! The Snowy Owl will not be getting anymore chances and we will be sure to spread the word - avoid at all costs!

Pathetic choice of vegan food. I went home hungry. Won't be coming back.

Lovely place, brilliant food and good service. Booked a table for a friends birthday. A nice welcome when we arrived...fab atmosphere with the cosy fire's. Table service in the dining area. Julie served us and was brilliant...definitely be back !

Didn't get off to a good start. The host took us to a table for 4 when my daughter had booked a table for 5. He stood and argued with her in front of other diners which was very unprofessional. She had the booking confirmation on her phone which clearly showed was indeed for 5. He did come back to say he had managed to move things around to give us a table for 5. After we were finished our meal the server Alex stood with the card machine not giving my daughter time to review. When she got home she realised we had been charged for an extra meal!! Yes we should have double checked the bill but surely the server should do this before handing it over too.

After being let down by another pub (closer to my grandparents home) We quickly booked the Snowy Owl. This was a meal for my Grandmas 80th , so it was very important to the whole family! Chris welcomed my Mam and Auntie in and let us choose the table for the celebrations. As this was 4 hours notice , we could not be more thankful. As my local I knew we would have an amazing meal. On behalf of all the Family , Thank you! Thank you also to Kirsty who went above and beyond for our special day.

Excellent service. Tried the Chateaubriand to share which apparently has just been put on the 3 course set menu. We made an excellent choice as perfectly cooked. Starter and pudding just as good. Couldn't fault a thing. Will be going back.

Went for family meal at 19.30 Saturday night. No scotch eggs left ,no chicken left, no chutney left for the pate and no chunky chips left. Got lamb skewers no dressing no salad nothing but the lamb. Very Disappointed. One girl serving very nice and helpful but doing everything herself.

plenty of free parking. Located in such a beautiful location, wouldn’t think it was so close to the A1! We stayed for the evening as well as for dinner. Upon entry we found the check in was at the end of the main bar. It was incredibly busy but the bar staff said they were mainly drinkers. Lovely interior, true country pub feel and decor. Loved the wood beams and fireplaces - although not lit. We didn’t need to book a table and service was fairly quick but they did warn us there would be a bit of a wait. The food was incredible! The best belchimel sauce I’ve ever had in my life. I highly recommend dining here! The room was good on first view but then noticed lots of dark hairs all over the dresser and bathroom floor and in the shower. Even found the odd couple on the towels. The shower head had black mould on it so I personally didn’t feel comfortable using it. A good supermarket mould cleaner would clean this right up. The bed was comfy. Unfortunately it’s not overly soundproof in the room. I could hear next door and the room opposite inside their rooms talking and using the toilet and shower etc as if they were in my room. The staff are absolutely fantastic here and we will definitely return for something to eat here if back in the area!

The location of the Snowy Owl is perfect for meeting friends coming from different directions. One friend comes from Alnwick the others live nearer. We meet every few weeks and always served delicious food and the service is excellant.

We were a group of 13 people and Ben who was our server was very helpful and efficient. Food was delicious and the real fire made the whole experience very cosy!

Friendly and welcoming. genuinely dog friendly not just dog tolerant like many places. Great choice of food and adaptable to tastes.

I would like to thank Vicky, sally and Terri I’ve been coming for a while and the reason why I keep coming back is because of these ladies and £10 nibbles!! these ladies are a great assess to your business I hope they enjoy their holiday together me and my husband always say they are the dream team

We’ve been coming for about a year now and the food is amazing keeps getting better, the only things I would improve would be more subtle lighting in the evenings and for the loyalty scheme having a free cocktail changed to any drink for those who do not drink

I go to the Snowy Owl regularly but my friend hasn’t been for ages and is already talking about going again! we went with three small dogs and were welcomed, the dogs were fussed and treated and we were made to feel very at home and that the place is actually dog friendly and not just dog tolerant!!!

Had food twice and never again. Poor bar service. Beautiful interior though!!

Stayed over for bed & breakfast and the food is excellent. A great atmosphere, friendly welcoming staff and everything kept clean and tidy. Lots of parking space too. Recommend

Deliveroo order. Never again, a soggy mess. Roast beef. Everything squashed into one dish. Tried to crisp up yorkies in the oven, rest reheated in microwave. Addition of gravy granules actually imoroved it. Some advice: pack gravy and yorkies separately, mountain of parsnips did not help. Not value for money at almost £25 including delivery. Akin to eating out of a dog bowl if you used their packaging!

The first time visiting the Snowy Owl in Cramlington. Not somewhere I will be returning to. I had the beef brisket sandwich and opted for salad rather than chips. It was a long wait (25 minutes) for my son's starters to arrive & quite a wait for all our main food. My beef brisket was very bland. The toasted bloomer was was very dry & it looked as though it had been dried out under a food warmer rather than toasted. The salad comprised of salad leaves, one slice of tomato & two slices of onion. For £12.25 I certainly wouldn't say it was value for money. No one came to ask how our food was and the empty dishes were left until after we left. My son's had burger & chips which they said was 'OK'. The total bill came to just under £92.00 (we had one drink each). For that sort of money I would expect the food to have been much more than just OK or acceptable. Very disappointed

Staff very friendly we ordered fishcakes we were a little disappointed very thin small portion of veg and new potatoes how ever apple crumble was scrumptious

Friendly helpful staff. Good coffee and nice little flapjack with it. Good menu choice. Quick service However a couple of little things which made it a bit embarrassing - missed cheese off the burger. put onion on salad when asked not too no side salad came with the burger. Burger quality not great - expected a proper home made patty and onion rings. Had better elsewhere. King Prawn Skewer fantastic Had to ask for these things which was embarrassing.

We had lunch with our grandson who was due be off for a year at a university in Canada. We won't see him for a year. We've been here before and, as on previous occasions, the food was excellent and the service was also good (thank you Alex).

Nice cosy pub. Good not great. Lamb kebab was absolutely tiny. No one was a fan of the food this time. Chips aren’t triple cooked, just taste frozen

Pub is lovely, but looking tired in places, great for a drink its set in lovely settings and this isnt the first time we have visited. Over time the food has gone down hill, It was below standard, all seemed microwaved, fish was lovely however, batter was a challenge.. overall we won't be back in a hurry until they up their game.

We hadn't been for a number of years. It was ok at the time. We decided to try it tonight and weren't disappointed. The food was really nice, better than previous times (before Vintage Inns), and the service from Alex was friendly, pleasant and just attentive enough without being annoying 😁. The lady who brought our food was lovely too (sorry I didn't get her name), very helpful and smiley. We will return soon.

We used to visit years ago and it was pretty good until it went downhill. We thought we should try again since it's been 15 years and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was better than it has ever been.

Had a fantastic tea at the snowy owl from walking in to walking out we were made so welcome, the young girl terri who served us was so lovely and explained the menu to us in great detail.when the food did arrive it was perfect, compliments to the chef which i asked his name ( Michael )it was so tasty we shall return sooner rather than later . 5 star

A fantastic place full of character and charm. The seating is comfortable and there is plenty of space. We had a family gathering so needed a good size table. The staff were brilliant and really helpful. Service was friendly, efficient and very slick. The food was superb, each meal was beautifully presented and really tasty, everyone enjoyed their meals. The prices are good considering the quality of ingredients and the fact it is all freshly prepared. We will definitely be back.

Delicious Sunday roast in a friendly atmosphere and best of all it has a dog friendly area so can bring the dogs too!

Come to the Snowy Owl for fabulous food, and waiting staff who will teach you stuff yoy never knew. Such as Alex who explained the difference between Peroni brewed in the UK versus the real deal in Italy. Great evening!

Came on a Monday evening and it was lovely. Nice chilled atmosphere. We had two dogs with us too so we were 'restricted' to the bar area, which is a nice area anyways. Dan took our order as we required gluten free options. The food was brilliant. Can't wait to come back.

Went for dinner with my husband from stepping inside we where greeted by staff who where very pleasant and friendly food order was taken by a lovely young lady called Sarah very polite and friendly a credit to her employer our food was delicious and well presented a credit to the chef all in all we had a most enjoyable evening will definitely go back and would highly recommend the snowy owl.

Went to the Snowy owl with my partner on Sunday. Our food was delicious and our waitress, Sarah, couldn’t have made us feel more at home. I would definitely recommend a visit.

We had difficulty getting 2 double gin & tonics which were drinkable but in fairness to the staff the dealt with the problem swiftly & were very pleasant. Pricy though so be aware of that if you're going!

I came in for Sunday lunch yesterday and the entire experience was fab! Our server Sarah was friendly and efficient. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. She was attentive, and the food arrived promptly. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience. I'll definitely be back!

Called in for a breakfast before starting a long journey, lovely food & great service

I came in today for a Sunday dinner, I was served by a younger lass, I believe her name was Sarah. It was exceptional and fast service and Sarah was a delight. Will be returning for sure!

Popped in for a drink with our 2 JRTs and sat outside as they are still puppies and into everything plus it was a beautiful day. The garden area must be being revamped as only 2 tables which is fair enough but we were so disappointed with the rubbish around the table we sat out. Cigarette butts, bread wrapper, cigarette box, old rotten wood from fencing & sweet wrappers. I know it's not the snowy owls fault but a bit of effort could be made by removing it. Plants and flowers could be added to make it a lot more pleasant. It has put me off sitting outside again. Lovely pub. Enjoyed a birthday meal here although the plate did look a bit sparce. Seemed to have sold out of a few dishes but ours were available. Nice atmosphere. Seemed a little short staffed. Would recommend.

We had a lovely time visiting the Snowy Owl today. Our server Mia was wonderful - she was very attentive, friendly and great with the kids and dogs.

The salad served to us was deconstructed. We were delivered whole fillets of chicken (unchopped) and pale bacon (unchopped) beside a bowl of rocket which should have been baby gem. I felt that I had to construct my own salad and I also only ordered it because the description specifically said baby gem. I don't like rocket. Also my wife asked for crab cakes as a main instead of a starter but it arrived as a starter with a couple of sides. Overall, an underwhelming meal.

Had a lovely meal with friends here, food was great with plenty of choice and our waiter Ben was really helpful and friendly. Would definitely eat here again
