Great place to eat. Had a stopover at the airport and decided to go for a pint and some food. Had the fish and chips which were terrific. Best chips I’ve had in a long time. Perfectly cooked. I’m not a tartar sauce fan, but this was delicious. Service was very good. Highly recommend.

We were gifted a pre-booked room for one night at The Athenaeum Hotel, London for our anniversary and were a bit disappointed with our stay. The hotel was very centrally located in one of the most upmarket districts in London (Piccadilly) which worked well for getting around London. It was a lovely experience to experience hospitality, attentive staff who catered well to our needs, and mostly good food. We would recommend asking for balcony view access on the top floor as you check in to ensure you can enjoy the views from the top floor in the evenings. It’s a wonderful way to unwind in the evenings. The room was a bit on the smaller side, and the view wasn’t great, but it was still enough for us to stay comfortable most of the time. The bed was also extremely soft, with thick pillows, and this was not ideal. My wife didn’t have a good night’s sleep and woke up with shooting neck pain. For the price, we expected much better rooms. However, we were pleased to receive a celebratory cake for our anniversary prepared as we entered the room. It was a nice personal touch. The buffet we had for breakfast was also cold and a bit disappointing. The omelette we ordered from the menu was much better as was the avocado and harissa toast. The toast was delicious as was the Earl Grey tea. We thoroughly enjoyed the loose leaf tea we were served. Overall though, it’s worth visiting for the experience of staying in one of the reputed five-star Piccadilly hotels.

Great local pub. Friendly and helpful staff that make sure you’re well looked after. Special call out to Lillie! Good atmosphere and we had such good service for lunchtime drinks we went back for dinner. Excellent food too. Highly recommended

Really nice cosy pub on the heath. We got a table by the fire and the roasts were really good! My wife loved the Chicken and I had the pork belly that was delicious. The team were really friendly and made sure we had everything we needed even our little dog was looked after. Would definitely recommend.

Unfortunately this was a disappointing experience, the sea bream was dry, over cooked and pretty unpalatable. The belly of pork was pretty tough however the burger and gluten free fish and chips was much better. One member of our party was black pepper intolerant and unbelievably they couldn’t provide any vegetables that didn’t contain black pepper presumably as the chef was unwilling to cook it from scratch. It was a pretty busy Sunday lunch and the staff appeared under pressure.
