The service was good and quick, its table service now which is much more convenient than how things were before. Maybe don’t expect smiles, but the food and quickness with which you get it makes up for that. The salt beef sandwich is still great.

The best Reuben sandwich in London. I enjoyed it alongside the beef hotdogs.

THIS IS NO LONGER THE EXCELLENT PLACE FOR SALT BEEF IT ONCE WAS. THE SALT BEEF QUALITY HAS GONE, SANDWICH CONTENT HAS BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED AND MANAGEMENT IS ARROGANT. I HAVE BEEN VISITING SINCE IT OPENED SO I CAN REMEMBER BEING SO FULL FROM A SALT BEEF SANDWICH THAT IT WAS A FABULOUS PLACE TO EAT. ON 30 AUGUST 2024 I VISITED AT 11:45 TO HAVE MY LUNCH AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS SO MUCH FAT AND GRISTLE IN MY SANDWICH THAT I COMPLAINED. THE WOMAN MANAGER COULD NOT CARELESS AND WHEN I POINTED OUT THAT THERE MUST BE A REDUCTION IN FILLING COMPARED TO YEARS GONE BY SHE ADVISED THAT THE PRICE HAD NOT CHANGED BUT THE FILLING WAS LESS. SHE MADE NO COMMENT ON THE QUALITY BUT DID ADMIT THAT MY CUCUMBER HAD NOT BEEN PROPERLY SLICED. I WAS SO HUNGRY THAT I HAD TO ORDER ANOTHER SANDWICH BUT A FAT FREE SANDWICH BUT THE SANDWICH WAS NO DIFFERENT AND LACKED FILLING. I SHALL NEVER GO BACK AS YOU NEED TWO SANDWICHES AND END UP PAYING A LOT. BUYER BEWARE AS YOU NOW PAY A LOT AND THE STAFF ARE SURLY AND UNHELPFUL. SELFRIDGES HAS LOST THE PLOT HERE. THANKFULLY REUBENS IN BAKER STREET WILL REOPEN IN A FEW MONTHS AND HOPEFULLY WILL PROVE TO BE A BETTER OPTION FOR MY SALT BEEF NEEDS. A VERY DISAPPOINTING VISIT BUT IT IS THE STAFF WHO ONCE MADE IT HUM BUT ARE NOW COMPLETELY INDIFFERENT TO CUSTOMERS. I PAID FULL PRICE FOR MY LUNCH WITH NO GOODWILL GESTURE WHATSOEVER.

I tried the Matzo Ball Soup and the hot beed sandwich and they were great. I would definitely return.

You might have to wait a while as it is always very busy but it has always been wonderful. I normally have a half and half Reuben and pastrami sandwich. Very generous portions of meat.

What’s gone wrong here? This cafe used to be a great experience, but now fails to shine in any way. Some of the bread from my sandwich had been sitting too long and contrasted in softness with the second half, part of the order was forgotten, and the service simply lacked any of the style that Selfridges delivers across the rest of the store. Disappointing.

Located inside Selfridges Foodhall, we came to rest our feet a little while trying out the tea set with scones and clotted cream with jam. Service is a bit slow, they looked understaffed. I like the scones and the quality of clotted cream.

If you are looking for a Hot Salt Beef sandwich then this is the place to visit. Service was a little slow, and some of the perimeter tables you have your back to shoppers walking past.

I wish the staff smiled a bit more - thought they could be a bit more friendly! Service charge would then be justifiable. However, on a positive note, I can’t fault the food as it is extremely tasty and a lovely snack during or after your shopping. Pricing is a touch on the heavy side.

Don’t ever think of going to the Selfridges branch I’m sat waiting a loooong while the staff is ignoring me completely. Very understaffed, very bad service.

The salt beef is lovely, schnitzel was slightly dry and chewy. We were disappointed with the macaroni cheese. The apple and orange juice were fresh. A great quick stop to rest your feet and get a snack when shopping in Selfridges/Oxford Street. There is a 12.5% discretionary service charge added to your bill.

Had an enjoyable meal at The Brass Rail in Selfridges! The Salted Beef Sandwich was absolutely delicious and packed with flavour. The kids loved their Chicken Noodle Soup and Mac n Cheese, which were both hearty and satisfying.The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly and attentive, making our visit even more enjoyable. We came here for a quick lunch while shopping. The staff (Tarek and Mario) were very friendly and took their time to go through all the ingredients for our allergies. The food was not good at all… we waited ages for a beetroot sandwich in which all the ingredients came from the can and the bread was extremely soggy. The salads were quite good and the bagel was fine. The food was severely overpriced for the quality.

I strongly recommend Asian tourists not to go there. You're not really welcomed there. I think low star rating speaks for itself. If it wasn't in Selfridges, it would've gone out of business long ago. My husband and I sat on the table where the lady at the counter pointed, and some waiter asked us if we were guided to sit there(personally I think he should've checked with his colleagues, but I guess they don't communicate with each other enough and at least he seemed nice to 'his' people), still I can understand to that extent but the problem was with this black waitress who brought us drinks. I've never felt that kind of hostile and stuck up attitude from anyone while I've been staying in London. She never said thank you of any good byes and the way she stared at us was plain offensive. I guess she should've chosen different job to do if she has problems serving Asian tourists or anyone. It's obvious she wasn't 'educated' from the store manager to do her job well. There was only one decent waitress with blond hair and she was the only reason why I paid for the service charge. And food? It was simply salty beef, mustard and the pickled cucumber, which was quite.. interesting.

This is my favourite place wherever I visit Oxford Street and Selfridges. The food is great, good service. All good 💯💯💯 highly recommend.

The Brass Rail used to be my go to place but my recent visit wasn't great the salt beef was inedibly salty & the bread stale my friend's soup too peppery & service abysmal .The waitress said they've had a number of complaints but I suppose they're not bothered .I don't think staff were very happy at all working there so never again !

My salt beef sandwich was a sad sight. It had two thin slices of meat. RIP off

Amazing Salt beef restaurant. I come here for lunch now and again, the salt beef is top quality, service is good and its always busy as the food is so good. I usually order the 'Brass rail Ruben' which is a toasted sandwich. Absolutely delicious. Probably one of the best sandwiches ive ever had, and is consistently excellent. Highly recommend for a lunch meal.

Good pastrami sandwiches. However, the service was really bad – it took ages to serve us even though there was no one in the restaurant, and we had to remind them twice to get us our drinks.

I ordered two items. Signature Salted Beef sandwich and beef sausage Hotdog. First time eating. Salted beef sandwich, I love it. The salted beef seeds are soft and easy to bite off. The portion is big, but I think the cucumber dip is not enough. If more, it could balance out the corned beef flavor. The hot dogs were average and the beef sausages were of average quality. Not too powdery, but I wanted a bit more beef tendon texture. There could be more pickled cabbage. Mustard. The French brand has never been strong enough for my personal taste. Overall five stars. Because I learned D.

They used to be very good. However, their quality has fallen. Service has become slow as well.

This is our favourite lunch time feast of the most delicious salt beef sandwich. It’s the perfect size for hungry shoppers and is always so good. Easy to stop and straight back to shopping mode after our lunch. Professional service to boot. Always will be our fist choice.

We went to eat here for the Rubens. Great service, the food good but nothing exceptional for a high end store and prices. I would return.

The Reuben is a classic. This has become my favorite sandwich in London. Totally worth the wait when there are lines especially around lunchtime.

We stopped by for a quick bite in between exploring, shopping, and to recharge before a long walking tour. This place is nothing fancy at all, but is delicious and efficient. We got a table in a matter of single-digit minutes, the server was extremely friendly, and the food we got (just simple food - a soup for my daughter and their classic reuben for me) was the comfort food we needed in our "a little jet lagged, a little tired, a lot overwhelmed with views, sights, and first impressions" state.

I would give it zero stars if I could. I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect in my entire life, I am over 50. I was in the Selfridges Foodhall with 2 of my friends, similar age. All of us dressed very smartly after a birthday lunch. We bought some expensive cakes at the Foodhall and they told us to get a coffee at any of the other food areas and have the cake then. We got the Brass Rail and asked for a coffee and were told immediately when they saw our cake bags that we cannot have the cake at their tables. We told him we bought it next to them inside the Foodhall. Sebastian the manager was extremely rude and dismissive. There were free tables all over. We bought a take away coffee from them and thought ok we will try find a little place to sit. We walked around and there was nothing despite there being a lot of different food outlets selling various foods in the foodhall. The strangest thing was when we moved away from the entrance we noticed a man who looked homeless with a trolley eating, A POT NOODLE! AT ONE OF THEIR TABLES. So how did we get told no you cannot eat a Selfridges cake with the coffee you just bought from them but a man is sitting eating a pot noodle and they don't say anything. When we asked Sebastian about this he was rude and first said he did not know which is absolute nonsense and then he said but he bought other food and lastly changed his story to that the man was there from this morning? Even worse as he took up a table from 10 am till 15:30?? This was absolutely ridiculous that he singled us out. We Then went back to the Brass Rail and sat down near the window where there were lots of empty seats only to be shouted at by one of the waitresses to say you cannot sit there. No real reason given. We then again said could we then sit at one of his tables and he said no you have take away coffee cups. He just gave them to us. At this point we were so shocked at the absolute rudeness we had endured by Sebastian and his staff and the absolute disregard to try and let us just sit down. Even after telling him it is my friends birthday. He was profiling us for whatever reason. We then asked him for a refund as we had then had enough and it absolutely spoiled our day and experience. I will email the company as well but at no point did Sebastian try to be nicer and just let us drink the coffee we just bought. It was the most shocking rudeness I have ever encountered in my life. I am disgusted that they can treat customers this way and get away with it. Not only was Sebastian the manager rude but all the staff there had a terrible attitude and were so utterly incompetent. I have had better service in a McDonalds. Avoid at all costs.

I was in Selfridges for my birthday today with 2 friends and we were refused entry because we had “ outside food” ie cakes bought in the Hall where they told us we could go and sit down in the coffee shop. We were told we could not eat outside food due to allergies reasons. We then decided to purchase a take away coffee as the manager told us we would go and sit further down but again no sits available anywhere and they are all privy to other concessions. We came back to drink our take away coffee and decide not to eat as told only to be told that we had purchased take away coffee therefore could not sit inside !!! Sebastian the store manager blamed the rules of the store and his manager and explained that he couldn’t allow it, never thought of putting our coffees in mugs then or think outside the box . To cap it all , they had a homeless guy sitting there and eating his pot noddle!!!! We told Sebastian who explained that he did not realised then said that he had been there for 4 hours. Staff is rude , just make up rules , it’s ok for Selfridges to have homeless people eating their own food purchased from outside Selfridges and not spend a penny in the store and that does not qualify as a risk of allergies to other customers. The staff is so woke and hide behind rules that don’t make sense, we were refunded after complaining. Not surprised to read other poor reviews , the food is nothing special, the attitude is something else and arguing with customers for the sake of letting them drink their coffee bought in the store makes no sense whatsoever! The food was good, and the service was okay. The place is usually packed so you may have to wait to be seated and to be served.

Service is not the greatest but the restaurant was busy so we can allow for this. Salt beef is not great at all , dry , lean and minimal slices in a sandwich. Gherkin was served on the same plate so the sandwich was wet and soggy Overall below average food with mega expensive prices. I’m happy to pay Selfridges prices but not for below standard munch.

Service great. Food was mixed - smoked salmon & cream cheese bagel and Brass Rail Reuben with pastrami were fab (although the paper disintegrated beneath the sandwich). Hot dog not easy to pick up!

Outstanding salted beef sandwiches and definitely worth a visit if you happen to find yourself in the vicinity. Service is very friendly but slightly overrun, though we did visit at peak hour lunchtime. Be prepared to queue for 15-20min on the weekend - gets very busy. Also had some options for kids, like macaroni side dish. Will be back.

Food was good. It’s selfridges, so not cheap. Service non existent. Had to flag waiter down after numerous other tables that arrived after us were served. Food dumped in front of us. No follow up to see if everything ok. Had to wave waiter down as coffee never came with other drinks after 20 minutes. Then coffee arrived with no sugar or spoon, unlike other tables served around us. Had to get up and ask at counter for spoon. Had to get up and ask for bill, despite line of people waiting to be seated, as couldn’t catch ANY waiters eye. Refused to pay for added service fee. No one seemed to be looking after certain tables. Waiters looked miserable. Think I should get a job here with the amount of service tip they automatically charge! Management need to do something about service! Wouldn’t take family/friends there again

Excellent food and the salt beef is to die for. Watch out for the charity donation they sneakily add in to the middle of the receipt and don’t tell you about. Discretionary service charges are also automatically added.

I took the Brass Rail reuben (half: 579kcal). It’s a hot salt beef toasted sandwich with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and gherkin. Surprisingly, very tasty!

Terrible quality of food. Am actually quite shocked this kind of standard can be served at Selfridges. Shocking. Worse than Subway. Unbelievable.

The salt meat was really tender and really salty.

Great location but I had asked for my salad followed by my scones. Not an option. I had to take it in the order the kitchen chose to create it. Initial host was great but wait staff was slow and not really interested. Would not bother going back. Food was decent enough but the scones I make are just as good (and I kind of prefer items BETTER than I can make it since I am not a professional!)

Terrible service the waitress got the order wrong and the food was warm, the service was really poor and no eye contact from the wsiting staff, we used to like eating in this pkace but not again, when the bill arrived there was service charge at 12.5% we thought about asking for it to be removed but it took us 10 minutes to get the bill so thought just leave.

Delicious salt beef sandwich and great service. Our server Lelde was incredibly helpful and friendly when working out how to accommodate my wife’s soya allergy. We’ll be back after another hard afternoons shopping.

The place is nice due to the location but the biggest issue is that the menu is very limited, I was really hungry but didn't know what to order, it looks more like a breakfast menu with 2 sandwiches and 2 other things, no real food, I ended up ordering the soup which was ok ,a bit too spicy for me.

Was looking very forward to having the Salt Beef which was nice, however very little beef, hardly any sauerkraut, the Margarita cocktail only half in the glass with no salt on the rim! Definitely not worth the price they charge which is very disappointing will think twice before I go again!

I've been here on several occasions and loved it every single time! People would consider it pricey, but the quality is excellent & as a big eater, honestly, the food fills you up. I would recommend against ordering your food with English mustard unless you're aware of how strong it is.

Tried the Brass Rail Reuben sandwich as recommended by Tarek who is a very amiable, very polite and great service crew. I enjoyed the sandwich. The place seemed to only have two staff at the time managing over 20 tables but they did so with speed, courteousness, and great service. I shall be back. 😋 The place was full at lunch time with a queue of people waiting to eat their sandwiches.

Been coming here for years. As you will read elsewhere it is not Katz in NY but to be fair it never could be. They seemed to have dropped the rye bread which is a shame. Most of the little Jewish delis of my youth have disappeared in London. So if you need a pastrami fix in central London this is your best bet. If Katz is 5 this is a near 4.

Nice enough food, not terribly priced considering where you are although nearly £5 for a bottle of coke is close to silly. What made it was the service, Flynn was excellent. Engaging, friendly and interested. Credit to the place.

The service was good and they are attentive to and friendly with customers. The food was nice but average. Nothing too fancy. You can probably get the same quality of food for a lesser price elsewhere. The only reason this cafe is overpriced is because it is inside of Selfridges. It is also quite noisy but is convenient if you are shopping in or around Selfridges on the day and need a coffee break.

We were disappointed for the first time. After standing in a queue for 14 mins which we can understand. After 11 mins after being seated I had to look for the responsible person to take our order. When the order was delivered it was the wrong order for one of us. Happens but i expect better service

The best place to get a warm salt beef sandwich you can dream of . I never miss it when in London . Take away or sitting . I recommend on rye bread, English mustard and gürken in vinegar. Just perfect !
