Would definitely recommend to family and friends. Thanks from Peter and Manjit

Another very enjoyable evening in this great little venue under the arches at Charring Cross. We have been here a few times and have always had good food. Quite a unique restaurant with lots of interesting history and artefacts. The food has always been delicious and this visit was just as good. Two of us had steak which was cooked exactly as requested , the Port ice cream was delicious . We had several bottles of wine and cocktails and were pleasantly surprised the bill! We will continue to bring our friends here as the atmosphere is always good and the staff are very friendly.

We had our family Christmas dinner here and were looked after by 2 lovely staff who were very friendly, welcoming and polite. The food was good, Turkey was lovely, not dry at all like some that you get from other restaurants. The Christmas menu option overall is great and there is something for everyone. We had a room sectioned to our group which just adds a special touch, very cosy and beautiful. Love the interior. This was actually the second/third visit from some of us and our return was due to good service that comes with good food and drinks. So I highly recommend. Thank you.

A very poor experience indeed, as what we booked was not what we received. We were given the regular menus and when we explained that we were on an opentable fixed price 2 course for £19.95pp offer, the server had no idea what the options were and left to check, returning to offer a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains or dessert, all of which were vegetarian, (bruchetta, or burrata salad and chilli linguini or butternut squash), when I questioned this and said that it didn't resemble the menu on opentable and that only 2 choices ( both vegetarian) was pretty poor, she went to check again and returned to add sausage and mash, stating that the menus were just changing. Both starters consisted of a piece of regular sliced bread, lightly toasted and topped with very little topping. Both main dishes were adequate. When we asked for the bill, we were disappointed to find that we had been overcharged and the bill was for £42 plus service, when I pointed this out to the server, she went to speak with the manager, who returned and made us feel extremely uncomfortable, stating that the restaurant would have to take the hit and be out of pocket and deducted £2.10 from the bill.

A lovely place which has become something of an institution. Plenty of nooks and crannies to sit in, some bookable areas, confortable main area. Staff are great, and they now serve lager (which is great, even if I had developed a taste for their pewter tankards of ale). Convenient for transport too (between Charring Cross mainline and Embankment tube)

We were searching for a place while visiting london that was open for reservations. When we arrived the host said we didn’t have a reservation and that the restaurant was out of most things. Desperate to rest after a long day of touring London by foot, we decided to grab a drink and collect our thoughts. In the end, we shared the welcome we got from the host with the waitress who put us at ease. We decided to stay for dinner. The food was ok, not bad but nothing special. What we really enjoyed (and needed) were the drinks and quiet atmosphere.

I'm not sure I want to write this review as it might encourage people to go here! It's in the arches by Charing Cross Station but you can hardly hear the trains. We had a little private room for five of us. Luca, our waiter, was absolutely brilliant; attentive without being over bearing. He suggested we taste the wines he recommended before we ordered. And he gave us plenty of time between courses as we'd requested. The food was delicious; I had perfect duck pate with melba toast and then fish pie. Both could not be faulted. The fish pie was obviously freshly made on site and the perfectly softboiled egg in the middle of the pie was an unexpected treat. I would have liked more green beans but I could have asked for more. I shared a cheese board which was also delicious and too big for one person. A hiddle little treat I shall be returning too.

We love Champagne Charlie's and were looking forward very much to returning after 2 years away. My husband reserved a table for dinner yesterday and we presented ourselves at the appointed time and stated that we had a dinner reservation. A guy with a clipboard asked our name and ticked it off and then escorted us to our table. This was a tiny table about 3 ft in diameter, barely able to hold a bottle and 2 glasses, let alone 2 dinner plates as well. It was in a corridor crammed between 2 other such tables at which people were talking loudly, hardly conducive to a relaxed wine dinner for us. Luckily, my husband scouted around and found a far more spacious and welcoming table in the room adjoining the corridor and we moved to that. The person who shows diners to a table clearly meant for people who are there for a quick drink needs to go back to hospitality school. This off putting behaviour has cost this review 2 stars. The wine and food were excellent as always. We loved the bottle of crisp, white Ugni Blanc that we drank with a bowl of olives, and the sublime bottle of Nebbiolo Langhe that we shared with a beautiful chargrilled medium rare steak. A hundred quid well spent.

We haven coming to this place for over 35yrs.. tbh - not a lot has changed over the years. But this time 3* ONLY because the Veggi Sharing Platter wasn't worth the price. It consisted of .hand-full of corn nuts, scoop of olives, few strands of pickled grilled veg, one pitta and table spoon of humus for £24 is rather rich..TBH - to plate that up at ' home ' would ppbly cost less then£5., so a five fold mark up is very much a rip off - even in current market conditions. BE REASONABLE - then people will come back and spend more. otherwise - it will be a quick pint place only.. Wines - I guess - OK

In London for theatre looking for something which was a little different with good wine list and the venue looked interesting. I hadn’t seen there were a significant flight of stairs to get inside and didn’t check if there was an alternative way down but just something to be aware if you are in a wheelchair or have mobility issues. Back to food and wine! Overall loved it and would go back or recommend and it is London so I guess at £92 for 2 including service charge not too bad. We did have a gorgeous bottle of wine which was over £30, a small bar but bowl, fries which were good, a charcuterie and sharing platter which interesting pickles but was a little short on bread and only 3 small cheese slices, 2 were the same style/type so more variety would have been good, glad we had the fries! The error was the homemade butterscotch sauce in which the sugar was not dissolved so VERY grainy and sticky toffee pudding super hot so I guessed microwaved through to serve. We did mention to the waitress and a manager type came over and said it would be fed back to kitchen and sort of apologised. Such a shame as otherwise venue is lovely, service was great.

Service was brilliant, I cannot remember our waitresses name but she was very good - brought my Dad three red wines to try to help him make up his mind. Very knowledgeable about the wine and food on offer. Although a smallish menu - it was still difficult to choose as everything sounded so good (when small I always think you know its cooked fresh) I had the pate to start, chicken for main and sticky toffee pudding for dessert - all were amazing.
