We used The Coach and Horses for my Mother's wake. We were a local family and Mum would have approved of us being in a local pub. When booking the venue I met with Simon, the manager, who was very kind when I burst into tears. ! Everyone said the room we had, The Atrium, was lovely and they enjoyed the food. We had ordered sandwiches, quiches and puddings. Some friends had not been there before and said they were so impressed with the pub that they wanted to return.

What a lovely place to stay! The room was so well appointed, had everything we needed and the bed was enormous and super comfortable. Honestly it was a million times better than the so-called 4-star hotel we stayed in recently. Delicious Sunday roast too. Had a meal on afternoon of 2nd January. Food was average and fish, especially, very small. Service was appalling -very casual, kept coming back to check what we had ordered (4 of us) and didn't write anything down. Very overpriced. Felt the food was good value for the price, we all left very full and happy with the quality. The service whoever was very poor, waited 20 minutes after being seated but no one came with menus, so we had to go to the kitchen to find someone to provide us with menus. Felt ignored by the staff all afternoon until we asked for the bill, they dealt with that immediately! We could understand more if the pub was full but it wasn’t, plenty of spare tables.

Unlike previous visits, our New Year dinner at the pub was decidedly below par. 8pm reservation with no warning that they would close the kitchen by 9pm, meant they took our dessert order then told us we couldn't have anything. Food was ok, but not fab. Service was poor, I had to wipe my glass before drinking as the server held it by the top edge.

We wanted an enjoyable and relaxed meal before going to the Xmas lights at Kew Gardens. The Coach & Horses is well positioned for that, and the atmosphere was relaxing; but the food left something to be desired. We'd never seen Chicken Supreme served without a sauce; the Plaice was swimming in butter and should have tasted better; and the cheese came not with the promised oatcakes (as per the menu) but with odd and inappropriate very dry crispbread (when this was pointed out some broken oatcakes were found). If it weren't for the pleasant atmosphere and reasonable service this would have been 2*.

We booked as we were heading to Kew Gardens afterward and I must say the evening start to finish was ideal, Charlie who served us, was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, even while the pub was quite busy with some big tables in the restaurant. Greeted on arrival and shown to the table. Great atmosphere. The food was delicious, soup, bavette, crab. We dined here on Saturday 16 December prior to going to “Christmas at Kew”. The pub was, unsurprinsgly, busy and this was reflected in the service (it took circa 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive and that was only after we chased them) and the food (my burger was luke warm). It’s a great location and a lovely, cosy pub but I wouldn’t rush back.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Coach and Horses. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome, by the friendly and extremely helpful lady on reception. She came straight out and let us in to the car park, directed us to reception and once we arrived there, checked us in quickly and efficiently and showed us to our room. We stayed in room 14, which although looked out on to a small outside car park, it was surrounded by trees and was on a pretty street location, offering a pleasant view. The negative points from our stay would be - - the pillows were very uncomfortable, it was like sleeping on rocks. Despite having told reception this on our first morning, the new ones we were given, were sadly just as bad. We also do not like down bedding, and we had no choice but to use it. - our room could have done with a bit of tlc. The carpet had tea/coffee stains on it, which were by the refreshment cupboard and also by the bed. The bath had an awful burn on it, possibly caused by a cigarette and some of the finish to the woodwork, was poorly executed and detracted from an otherwise charming room. - on our second morning, having waited 15 minutes to give our breakfast order, it then took a very long time for it to be served (a further 50 minutes). It seemed there was an issue, which obviously happens from time to time, but there was no communication with the customers and no apologies were given at any point for the delay. I am happy to wait when there are problems, but it's nice when it's acknowledged you have been waiting some time. Had it been on our first morning, when we had plans with friends, we would have had to leave without eating breakfast. The positive points of our stay are - - the two ladies on reception during our visit, were warm, friendly, helpful and attentive. - the bed in our room was very comfortable and huge! - both our bedroom and bathroom were very clean. - the food we ate, at both breakfast and the dinner on our first night, was all delicious. - the atmosphere in the hotel was wonderful. It's a busy, vibrant pub, clearly loved by the locals and all the staff are lovely. Despite how busy it is all afternoon and evening, the hotel area upstairs, is silent and peaceful. - the location of this hotel is excellent, especially for Kew Gardens, the reason for our stay. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel, for both staying and eating at. We are definitely planning to return at some point in the future and we are looking forward to exploring the area more from this wonderful and welcoming establishment.

Arriving later than hoped reception whisked away my luggage so I could go straight off and delivered it to my room which was very comfortable and well furnished. Well stocked minibar and a wicker hamper packed with all sorts of treats for a price of course. We made a reservation for a Sunday supper visit prior to seeing the Christmas lights at Kew Garden. No one greeted us as we stood at the entrance for almost five minutes (many staff saw us). When we were seated, we were informed that they were entirely out of all five Sunday roasts, which is the reason we had chosen to eat there. Turned out the Grey Pigeon about two blocks away still had roasts available, so we left to go eat a very enjoyable meal there.

I stayed here for one night on business recently and it was a good experience. Staying away regularly I’m sick of bland, faceless corporate hotels so I booked this as a change because of the reviews and location. Upon arrival I was welcomed by the receptionist, Sorry I’terrible with names but she made me feel welcome and checked me in. I’m not James Bond but we did have a proper laugh - something unknown in aforesaid sterile corporate fare. My room was very comfortable and the details were good. There is an honesty box with crisps, wine and other tempting nibbles in and a well stocked minibar if you’re not feeling the need to go down to the bar. The big question is would I return? Yes, this is a comfy, homely place that makes you feel welcome, and offers value and comfy bed with all the facilities to make your stay above average for the money I did however blot my copybook asking the bar staff for a pint of the completions beer!!! OOPS.. Did I also mention that it has its own secure, free car park!

The rooms are really nice and the pub itself serves good food and has a beer garden at the rear although we preferred the seating area at the front. All the staff were friendly and in particular a big shout out to Alicja on reception who was really nice and super knowledgeable about the area. Kew is a great location not only for visiting Kew Gardens or Richmond but is only about 30 minutes by tube from central London. Kew tube station is only a short walk from the hotel. On our first night we walked to Chiswick using the Thames path. There are some nice pubs along the river and Chiswick high street has some nice eateries. The hotel also has secure parking.

This is a beautiful pub/restaurant. From the front terraces, to hotel reception and the dining room, just lovely. We ate in the dining room that is decorated with beautiful floral prints (the garden room?). The whole room, furniture, layout, artwork was all gorgeous. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was a charming young man that couldn't be more helpful. The prices were fair and portions very generous and the food was beautifully plated up. I gave the food 4 stars instead of 5 because the potatoes were not crispy and the vegetables were slightly soggy, other than that my Sunday roast was very nice, and served with a huge Yorkshire pudding. The sausages were tasty, as was the Cesar salad, and gazpacho. I would happily go back - I wish this restaurant was closer to where I live!

Unfortunately our experience was tainted by the manageress Erica. Bar staff were fantastic and friendly/accommodating. However, my friend who is visiting from another country ordered via the app and upon one sip of her drink was surprised that it was bitter. We kindly asked if we could change it and pay the difference for another drink, bar staff were very kind however, manager Erica was rude and abrupt with a really unpleasant attitude. I passively explained the situation and she said ‘there’s a description on the app, you should’ve looked’, I explained that I felt good custom would allow for an exchange of drinks having spent years working in hospitality and this being the norm in my experience, Erica was dismissive and rude, leaving bar staff to apologise and provide the actual customer service. Also, worth noting as depicted by photo that the description is limited- we are not blaming Young’s, but a bit of customer service and good grace (or at least pleasant interaction) goes a long way.

We booked a room for a Wake. Alicja was absolutely FANTASTIC! She took my initial call, providing me with the initial information I needed over the telephone and sending on via email. I had a number of queries to make sure that everything ran smoothly - Alicja was prompt in responding and so very helpful. This was very much appreciated particularly given the circumstances of the gathering I was organising. Everything was delivered as agreed. The staff on the day were so lovely and helpful. The food was utterly delicious - thank you! The sandwiches - well it was not standard shop-bought bread - it was really quite special. Advance notice was given re dietary requirements for a few guests and they were appropriately accommodated. I would highly recommend.

Ordered a three cheese, pickled crisp and truffle mayo sandwich for £7. Was given blocks of cheddar (they tried to say it was three different types of cheddar haha) and couple crisps and no truffle mayo. And a dirty table because they couldn’t be bothered to clean up after the people before us.

Spent a long weekend in the hotel and it’s easily the best hotel we’ve stayed in at London! Spectacular service from the staff, especially the lady who checked us in (believe her name was Alicia but apologies if incorrect) and the bar staff were lovely also. Will definitely be booking again when needing somewhere in London. Highly recommended.

We had arranged to meet for drinks, but made the mistake of meeting on a day when there was big-screen football, so it was very noisy. The staff were quite helpful over a move from the table we had re
