After a couple hours exploring Kew Gardens on March 16th, were ready for a Sunday Roast. Google Maps showed the Couch & Horses nearby, good reviews: booked! When we arrived early for our reservation, we were given a table in the back. Nice as it is, it had quite a few children: a problem for someone with hearing issues. We asked our server, Mary, if there was any chance of the smaller room in front. She immediately went to her manager, they checked tables, and came back: if we could wait five minutes... The Library Room at the front was perfect! With only a few tables, natural light coming in from the park in front, we could relax much more. Mary made sure we were comfortable, and let us settle in to consider the Sunday Roast options, drink choices. One of us had the roast beef Sunday Roast with a draft beer. The other had the pork belly with cider. Both were very good - but to us the pork belly was juicier & more flavorful. Good value, lovely experience, excellent staff! Definitely worth a visit and especially if visiting Kew Gardens. After lunch we went down to the Thames for a beautiful sunny Sunday walk. Exactly how a Sunday should be, thanks to the thoughtfulness of the staff here.

Great pub with great food & beautiful rooms. First time visit - staying over for a local work event. A really warm welcome from Hannah and the team. The food was excellent (proper steak & chips) - beer spot on. The Room was fantastic with lovely little touches from the team. On arrival into the room - it was warm, classic FM playing and great ambient lighting. Highly recommended!

We visited to celebrate my husband's birthday. We both chose from the Set Menu which was sadly disappointing. My starter of butternut squash & celeriac was ok, nothing to get too excited about. My husband's choice was less memorable. We were both disappointed by our choice of main: the chicken chasseur was served dry & over cooked. However, the accompanying mash, mushrooms & gravy were cooked well as was my husband's dessert of apple & rhubarb crumble with custard. In all honesty, an experience that we won't be repeating.

I often drink a lemonade and bar staff will come and swipe up the glass before I even finish it if I take my eye off of it. Staff have come up to my group offering a free drink for a five star review. I’ve heard stories of bad attitude from pub staff from my colleagues. Any other local pub is better in my experience, and also far more welcoming. Food is decent enough if you’re on a plant based diet.

The services vary by the waiter -- one is an absolute delight, and the other just threw all the dishes in front of me because he cannot be bothered to move one step to put the kid's meal on the right side of the table (there was plenty of space for him to move around). Perhaps he had a good reason but he just moved his chin to tell me to do it myself.

We had a family evening meal; the staff were welcoming and friendly. We were taken to the table in the front room of the pub. It was very noisy to begin but did settle after half hour - it was post 6 nations, so we appreciated it was going to be busy. The team member looking after us was professional and had a very pleasant and helpful manner. The food was delivered quite promptly and was of a good quality. There were a couple of occasions we had to wait a bit of time to get the attention of the team member to get further drinks, but it was very busy and he was covering several tables. If you are looking for a good pub meal in a friendly pub, it is definitely the place to go, but it can get noisy.

The service was friendly and pleasant. The dining room spacious with a nice log fire but the food was just OK. Salsa with the salmon looked straight from a tin, sticky toffee pudding was dry with very little caramel. The chips were the best thing. Prices are quite high for what we had.

Went in for some lunch and a drink with friends and two children. Nice place, cosy and good atmosphere. Food was nice - better than other places on the green. However the staff soured the afternoon. This starts as a pleasant and convenient little inn in a lovely part of London. Two things change that. 1. The staff are amazing - a friendliness and helpfulness you normally don't get in London. 2. The food is excellent (yes, even the bar food). And the "full English breakfast" is exactly that - a perfect start to the day. These lift the Coach and Horses into a league apart. It is worth staying here even if your meeting or event is further afield - it beats most of the central London places I've stayed in by miles.

Nice place to stay, staff were great, my pros and cons are. Pro: close to the airport, very comfy rooms, staff very helpful, late checkout if you require. Cons: from 5am the planes will start to fly over so be prepared to wake up then, if your 6ft or over you’ll have to sit down in the shower as the are quite low, but nice bathrooms, complimentary items are left in a basket with none complimentary items when you enter the room, read the booklet first which won’t be with the basket, I drank a bottle of wine but the staff did compromise and charged me 50% less after explaining.

Had a lovely time with friends. Cosy relaxed atmosphere with in. Friendly staff who were happy to help. Food was good, and general feedback from our group was that they really enjoyed their meal choice. However, some felt the chicken Kiev had no concealed garlic butter sauce inside itself; another concern was the Colcannon. It tasted more like standard mash, as no butter, or cream, cabbage, or onions could be tasted or seen. Toilets were cleaned, Parking is available at the back of the building, which is accessible via a path at the side of the building or you can walk through the building after parking.

Unfortunately our restaurant experience was not good - I had booked a table to eat 2 months ago and we were placed in a back room right next to a 6 year olds party - it was noisy and chaotic with bright overhead lighting and not conducive to a pleasant meal. We asked to be moved but were told it was not possible- no apologies and we were just ignored with no one even coming to take our orders. We left and ate at the Botanist on the Green opposite! Such a shame as if we had been put in the Library which was a quiet lovely room I am sure I would be writing a more positive review.

What a horrible pub Kew's The Coach and Horses now is. Last month I wrote about the horrible and unwelcoming experience my family had when dining at The Coach and Horses. The landlord responded to that review on here with a complete misunderstanding/misrepresentation of what had happened and made no apology for the horrendous and abusive behaviour of one of his bar staff. Hardly a word of what he wrote was accurate. The landlord also claimed he would be happy to discuss it further. Yet despite several opportunities to do so, he has failed entirely to engage. It's very clear that he was simply irked by a poor review on Tripadvisor - not the first review to point out that the bar staff at the pub are poorly trained and abusive, I might add - and wanted to window dress the review with a quick and misleading reply. He has no actual interest in dealing with the issue or in improving his pub. I visited the pub again this month in an effort to track this 'caring' landlord down, but, surprise, surprise he wasn't there. Just like he wasn't on my previous visit. As Tripadvisor doesn't allow reviewers to respond, I'm doing so here. So... if you like bar staff who are unpleasant, unhelpful and abusive for no reason, feel free to call in at the worst pub in Kew - The Coach and Horses. If you'd like an enjoyable experience with good service and excellent food, I'd recommend in particular The Tap On The Line - a far better pub than The Coach - or any of the other three pubs on Kew Green, all of which are considerably better than The Coach. The sad thing is that a few years ago, before lockdown, The Coach was arguably the best pub in Kew. It's sad to see it fall so far. It was a different landlord in charge then, of course. But if the current landlord is unable and unwilling to train his staff or keep them under control then they will continue to lose custom. But perhaps he thinks having his staff swear at customers is a good thing?

Sunday lunch with our son. Lovely seats in front of a log fire for pre-lunch drinks, though had to ask for table to be cleared of plates & glasses. Went through to The Atrium for lunch, surrounded by many families with babies/children. Waiter who took our order did not repeat it back or listened to our order. No starter arrived for myself (only 1 ordered) Lamb rack for 2 - on menu but unavailable, Beef alternative arrived but was cold, overcooked and inedible. Pork belly for myself, was assured that crackling was available - just a cold lump of mostly fat, no crackling at all and limited cold meat. After telling waiter, he said chef would provide crackling, it arrived at my last 2 mouthfuls and was really good👍. Both beef meals returned uneaten (same for a nearby table). Front of house arrived, removed all meals from bill and offered desserts, coffees etc. All declined and left for a meal at home from my wife (an Irish chef of 57 years) who said she would have been ashamed to have served such cold fare at an Inn of such repute. As visitors to the area, we returned to our car to find a parking ticket for £110 for parking near the restaurant in an area for residents only. Do tell customers that you have a car park at time of booking please. We hate leaving reviews like this as we ran a catering company ourselves but your staff need further retraining.

We visited the Coach & Horses for Sunday breakfast - they don't do a brunch service on Sundays but it didn't matter as it is effectively the same food, just had to be 30 minutes earlier than we had originally planned (kitchen stops serving breakfast at 11:00). We received a warm welcome on arrival and were kindly directed to the pub's own car park (it wasn't just for residential guests) when we asked where we could park. The staff that we accounted were all very friendly, efficient and professional. The pub is also very welcoming to dogs and even has a Bark Bar for them - full of delicious doggie bones and treats and also towels and blankets for those wetter, cooler days. Humiliating experience on Sunday 1st September 2024 at around 7:20pm. This used to be one of our favourite pubs any time of year but recently something has changed for the worse. My sister and I sat in the library room, it was hot so most customers were outside. We bought drinks and were told to wait 10 minutes before ordering food as the kitchen was overwhelmed. We duly waited whilst another customer ordered and paid for his dinner which was odd. At some point we noticed a manic lady with straggling long dark hair eyeballing our table and tramping back and forth in and out of the bar. A few minutes later the duty manager came to advise us we cannot sit at the table as the room was reserved, despite there being three large empty tables. He did not communicate this to existing customers which included two young lads who also strolled in after us. He explained that the table was reserved but on Sundays reservation cards are not placed at the tables. The polite but inexperienced bar staff had not been made aware that the table was reserved. It made no sense. We refused to leave as we had just bought drinks and a bar snack. I was really shocked and alarmed at this behaviour and wondered what was happening. In the end he relented and told us someone would take our order. It was unacceptable, humiliating and unnecessary. I intend to not return to this pub which was once our family’s favorite spot. The Cricketers, The Goat and Botanist are in close proximity. A relaxing drink in The Cricketers made it all good.

Ordered gluten free food, the exact same dish my friend ordered like a hour before. Mine wasn’t gluten free. The waitress explained to my friend how her dish had been prepared, when mine arrived she just put it down & walked off. I thought well, it was already explained so, she knows I heard it. Mine ended up having main ingredients missing, there was regular bread with it… would have been hilarious if I hadn’t ended up being ill & missing the entire day of the Happy Place festival. Just please be careful if have allergies & you eat here. The aperol spritz was nice 🤷♀️

Stayed here for the second time to attend a concert across the road at Kew Gardens. This time we had our five month old daughter with us. The room was spacious with plenty of room for the cot that they provided for us. Excellent staff who were very helpful. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Will definitely stay again

Me, brother, mum and dad had a lovely time celebrating my birthday, the food was far greater than what I was expecting, and the whole place seemed very laid back, it's a place I'd got to again.

Very good food and serve all day. We popped in for a light lunch and had a fabulous view of the river with the tide rising.

We often pop for lunch here on a Sunday but recently tried dinner of a weekday and the service and food is always 10/10. Sunday lunch is especially delicious the roast pork roast is worth a try, it has a beautiful outdoor garden very homely for adults and children.

We were visiting London for the first time and I wanted to visit Kew and it just happened to be in Richmond and we are Ted Lasso fans so… The reviews were excellent and they were not an exaggeration. The food was stupendous. Well worth the 20 minute walk from Kew. The Ted Lasso booth was cute and we sat at a table with a view of the call boxes and Richmond Green. We highly recommend the Prince’s Head for a meal or just a pint. I’ll dream about that steak and ale pie for the rest of my life.😄 So you know will be back! It’s a really cute town, very atmospheric so have a wander, grab a coffee and enjoy!
