The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

We met family here today for lunch, absolutely great! The pub is clean, well appointed, tasteful decor, staff were all friendly and helpful, toilets were spotless. A party of 5, we ordered whitebait and trout for starters. Whitebait was generous in portion size and cooked to perfection, trout was well presented, all were delicious. Mains were chicken supreme, sea bass, steak and a risotto. Plates were hot, food was hotter! And all of it was well cooked, well presented and delicious. The setting is delightful, worth the 2 hr drive for both parties to meet, I recommend this place on all counts. This will be our family meet up point going forward. If you’re local to Barrowden use this place, support it, it deserves it. Shame we live so far away!

OMG - the best best garden ever. This is such a lovely, friendly pub. Only had a few beers so can’t comment on food but the beer was lovely. They have a sign saying beer garden but it s the most amazing bet garden ever. Fab place

We Went for Sunday lunch with our friends . The food was excellent, great service and a lovely atmosphere and a cosy feel. Good value for money to.

Great pub, went on a Saturday, disco and karaoke. Drinks are very reasonably priced and everyone is friendly.

Found this little gem of a place by accident, and what a nice find it was too. Friendly staff, lovely food and relaxing atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips, but couldn’t eat it all (big portions). Will definitely be back again.

Staff was very friendly and helpful even when very busy and Sunday roast was delicious would definitely go back. Amazing prices.

Called in today for a couple of drinks only to be over run by barking smelly dogs not a good thing for somewhere that does food the dog owners had no regard for anyone else only there selfish selves it's a shame as the pub does good food but not in that sort of environment it made us leave early as we felt a little bit intimidated by it and we can see it wasn't full oh i wonder why ? Spent £60 in this chippy last night buying fish chips chicken kebab meat .probably the worse food I've ever ,I wouldn't eat anything from here again if it was free

Another Northamptonshire Pub that made a stranger who only moved the to area at the start of the lockdown very welcome. Gorgeous cosy interior that has not been corporatized or over developed. Friendly locals easy to engage with. Oh and the ale is stunning The village is stunning and sits on the equally stunning Knightley Way among the lightly used back roads around this largely undiscovered section of the county. Restrictions for the crisis are sensibly managed and not at all onerous. Food has not yet restarted but I am sure it wont be long and there is no reason to believe it wont match the excellence of the rest.

Just had a nice meal here, being a Monday evening it was quiet but the service was good and the food also good.

We had some late afternoon drinks and decided to stay for an early evening meal , the price was fair and the food was good , the service was excellent

Two of us ordered steaks. Sirloin wasn't available so we settled for rump. Admittedly we asked for it well done, however I have never had meat as tough. It was so tough we could barely cut it let alone chew it and we left it. Absolutely dreadful! Informed a staff member who said she'd pass it on. So won't be returning

Excellent food, great beer, great service. Staff went the extra mile. Good choice sensible menu! 5 real ales all well kept! Great evening
