We were on holiday and went here because of the reviews. Ordered specials and it was clear that the Chef was very experienced and knew exactly what he was doing. After chatting to the owner he confirmed that the Chef was indeed michelin standard. We were in the Peak District for a week and I can honestly say that it was the best meal we had during our stay....and don't get me wrong, we had some good food in other establishments. The owner was really friendly as was his staff. The atmosphere was good throughout. When we are back into the area , this is definitely one place we will go to again.

Found this place via fb group for camping over night in camper. If you buy food in the pub you stay for free in the camper. The pub is absolutely amazing and the food was even better. After selecting meals all were incredible. Definitely wish I had the pie but was equally as happy with the steak. Definitely going back. Staff can’t do enough for you. Thank you Beth and of course little Marley 😘

Called for lunch whilst walking in the area and found the pub very cosy and welcoming. Good beers on offer and whilst the food menu was limited, the food on offer was very good, especially my Meat Pie, Chips & Veg. If only all pubs served chips that good. A big thank you to all the team.

Lovely meal for two this evening. I had the sea bass and my partner had the beef cheek, delicious! Couldn’t fault the service either. Beautiful pub with lots of character. They also allow campervans to stop over for the night which is handy if you’re exploring the Peak District, only 10 mins from Bakewell 👌

Well what can I say. This place is fantastic. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The pub it's self is really well kept and a fantastic beer garden. Now to the good part... The Food!! We had the pie and beef cheek. I have never had such a succulent melt in the mouth cut of beef in my life. The chief must have been stolen from the Ritz because this food was mind and taste bud blowing. A definite must if you love a relax ,warm and welcoming atmosphere and Michelin level food

Called in for lunch after a long walk. Lovely front of house service, and few things missing off the menu which was a shame. We have been lucky enough to eat at a lot of nice places and we underestimated The farmhouse. We were hoping for nice pub grub but got outstanding wholesome quality food. The blade of beef with horseradish mash was outstanding, beef melted in mouth and even the veg was perfectly cooked. My daughter had a portion of cheesy chips and considered them life changing 🤣🤣 However, even if the food had been average we would still come back here for the amazing management and staff. All are very hard working and busy but they still have the time to make you feel 100% welcome. Friendliest and nicest people we have met in a very long time. Thank you for topping off our already amazing day here- what you do for visitors is amazing. We look forward to returning and please keep hold of your chef and team!! Xx

I booked a twin room a few weeks before a visit which was the culmionation of a two day 60 km walk with my son including a night's camping. We intended to recover in a nice room and enjoy a big supper before returning to London the next day. On arrival we were told of a booking confusion which they tried to justify as a repeat occurence as they had also booked all their rooms to one touring group. No room was available for us, although they did say they might be able to arrange a bed in a nearby youth hostel which had no restarurant, clearly an inadequate replacement. They susbsequently claimed they had entered my booking for the week after, certainly not a mistake on my part as I had a long standing arrangement the following weekend. This was incredibly disappointing, ruining the end of a fun trip with my son and leaving us a 3 hour drive home after a second day of 10 hour walks! The place looked nice but ultimately a dreadful experience.

Pubs don't get better than this! We stayed in a cottage in Youlgrave for a week and kept coming back to The Farmyard Inn for dinner. Firstly, the staff are so friendly. From the moment we walked in we received a warm welcome, especially by Sammy, Joe and Charlie. It felt like a lovely mix of locals and visitors to the area. The food was all gorgeous and a great choice with tasty veggie options. Our dogs loved it too - you won't find a more dog friendly pub. We are just sorry we had to leave and that this isn't our local pub (and our local is great so that is saying something!!). Thanks to everyone - can't wait to visit again and eat here.

Whilst staying in Youlgreave for a few nights break we had heard that the Farmyard Inn was holding its fortnightly quiz (Thursday's) so decided to pop along. Well I'm so glad we did, Louise the new owner greeted us with a big smile and a warm welcome as did the previous owners daughter and her friend even sharing with us some fresh cut rhubarb. My husband and son had their favourite Abbot Ale and I had a large glass or 3 of the Malbec, which I must say was one of the best I've had from a pub and I'm a fussy wine drinker! Another local named Rex was the quizmaster for the evening and did a brilliant job, questions were a great mix, not easy but you didn't have to be an "egg head" either. We came third out of 3 teams lol but Louise still presented us with a prize....some Feriero Roche's (everybody shared their winnings, which was so lovely) After the quiz Louise brought out some pork pies and mustard too! Which was a really lovely touch. We really felt like part of the community at The Farmyard Inn, and the next time we are in the area, we will definitely be popping in.

Gorgeous food and a great choice on the kids' menu! Everything tasted really fresh and great quality ingredients. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. We even left my sons water bottle behind, and they are keeping it to one side for when we return! 😆🙈

We had enjoyed meals here previously but the quality has plummeted. Two of us ordered the fishcakes which were deep fried with no evidence that they contained any fish at all. Cheap, overcooked fishcakes and undercooked, limp frozen skinny chips. One of the worst meals I have ever been served. We were also seated in the 'function room' which was cold & scruffy.

Lovely place for a drink. Great service with friendly staff. Would highly recommend for drinks. Didn't try the food.

Always a real pleasure to be back in Winster and partake of the hospitality of Old Bowling Green. Charming, relaxing and traditional with welcoming staff and very dog friendly. We enjoyed tasty basket meals (served Friday/Saturday), drinks and chit-chat. A lovely pub in a lovely village.
