The Ball House in Boston

My husband and I call in here for a meal between 6-7pm when the menu is 2 for £15 but I believe the time has been extended now. We have never been disappointed with the meals. The service is efficient and friendly. We have booked for my birthday at the end of March and my family will be impressed with the happy and pleasant staff and good choice of menu.

Booked a table for 13 people of all ages from 2 years to 70+. Taken politely and accurately. Arrived and table all ready, absolutely 1st class service no pressure no stress. Food was superb, from fish finger sandwich to steak, all well cooked and presented. Overall a brilliant experience for all of us. Would recommend to anyone.

Visited previously and certainly gone downhill, so disappointed at the decline in quality of the food. The Atlantic Cod was so small, could have got better from a local chippy. Starters all deep fried yuk.

Eight of us went for an early dinner on Friday evening. Service was efficient & friendly. Beer was good, and gin menu was extensive. Food menu was varied, with a selection of vegetarian dishes alongside the pub classics. The food arrived quickly, portions were sensible, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Desserts were equally good.

We visited the ball house on Sunday for lunch. I can't fault the food or the service we received. The staff are always great at serving great portions of food. It's always well cooked and plenty if it. We go back time after time as all the food is cooked fresh not microwaved like some places we have been too. Well done for the quality of the food.

Myself and my partner visited The Ball House today for Sunday lunch, I have to say we were genuinely disappointed with the tight portions and poor customer service.I politely asked for some more meat as the wafer thin sliver of beef seamed incredibly stingy and very strict portion control.I was quite bluntly told "no... but I could have an extra roast potato"I understand that the meat is the most expensive part of the meal... but this seemed ridiculous compared to other local restaurants in the area!The potatoes and vegetables were equally miserly portioned and issued to me?? Surely potatoes and vegetables are reasonably inexpensive? Most places allow you to help yourself to as much vegetables as you like.I got precisely two carrot batons, and two small bits of broccoli, the yorkshire puddings were very good as were the roast potatoes.The food I have to say was nicely cooked, but the portion size and the rude nature of the young gentleman who served us was very poor.It is not particularly cheap either at £10 for one course each.There are far better Places to eat locally .. places that serve decent food, in a reasonable quantity, of a good quality and at a fair price.Dissapointing

Booked for an evening meal via email and phone, both were confirmed. Very nice place with friendly staff. Quite a choice on the menu plus specials on the board. Group of five and we each found something we liked. Food was promptly brought to the table and beautifully presented. Thoroughly enjoyed by all as were the desserts . Mine was treacle sponge with ice cream. The sponge was so light and fluffy. We stayed at the premier inn near by and had a few bad meals there so would not hesitate to book meals at The Ball House next time we are in the area.

This pub is well appointed, quite classic style with a fabulous original fireplace. The menu was straightforward standard no frills pub food, which is exactly what we wanted. It’s good value and next time we’ll try the early bird menu after work for a mid week treat for even better value. A pleasant young man serving us, prompt & polite. The only thing I’d suggest is a couple of cosy sofas or armchairs by the fire rather than acres of dining tables as we’d definitely visit with local friends for a drink on a regular basis. We’ll be back, nevertheless.

My husband took me for a surprise meal to celebrate my birthday and we had a great meal as always. Food was great, as were the staff. Another super evening in a great pub. Well done sharon and staff.

First visit, tradional pub inside, very good menu, 2 meals,for £15. Freshly cooked good food.Will go again.

We had a very tasty meal here, at a very reasonable price. Despite being pretty busy when we arrived and there only being one barmaid working, everything was smoothly done: our drinks order was swift, our food order bang on and the barmaid cum waitress couldn't have been nicer.

Visited here on the way back from a shopping trip, ordered the 2 meals for £15, one of which was the steak pie of which came with no gravy & would have been dry without it. Asked for gravy which I found was seasoned with a very strong herb which overtook the taste of the gravy & the rest of my meal. Later when the bill arrived was charged for the gravy even though there is no mentioned on the menu about extra charges for this. As I eat out quite often I was most surprised & did point this out but they did not seem interested. So be aware of hidden charges if eating here

Excellent food at a very reasonable price. The lady who served us was very pleasant and helpful. Will certainly go again when back in Boston.

After hearing that The Ball House had become under new ownership (although it be over two years ago!) we decided to return to our once upon a time local watering hole for Sunday Lunch, (having been very disappointed both with the service and the food with the previous owners).

Good food,friendly service,overall good value for money. This is a very nice place to dine for a celebration or just an evening out with friends, varied menu catering for large or small appetites. Highly recommended

Well the Ball House offers some of the best Sunday dinners available in the area. A carvery is on offer with a good and varied selection of well-cooked and wholesome meats, vegetables and other compliments. You are provided with plentiful amounts (but you can decide to reduce this should you so wish). There is also a widespread range of deserts available - should you wish to push up the calorie count. Well the food is glorious - true home-cooked fayre - to call it wonderful or "just like mum used to make" would be an accurate description. The front of house staff are friendly and attentive yet not over-bearing. The price is what you would expect for good quality food - indeed true VfM. We would strongly recommend a trip out to the Ball House (especially on a Sunday) as you will not be disappointed

This is great place to sit and have a drink with friends on Saturday lunch time and when you don't feel like cooking a great place to eat. Sharon and Matt are great hosts and staff are very friendly.

2nd visit here in just less than a year, it would be a hell of a lot more if it wasn’t an hour and a half drive away! Great service, great food and very nice customers as well as staff. Will be returning in the near future

Nice food at a good price give it a look when in area well worth it. Only 1 negative some staff should have some telephone manners. As phoned up easter sunday to book table as we had had a meal there on Friday evening. (Phone call ) have you a table for 2 this evening. Reply No we are closed hang up

Our table had Scampi and the Cod in the lunch deal- We all agreed that the quality was superb ,batter light, chips home made and crunchy -service friendly and welcoming -great presentation. Nice to see a cloudy draught cider !

It's so nice to be greeted warmly when you walk into a place to eat. Although we live 25 miles away, we've been to the Ball House twice recently and each time have been very impressed.

Haven’t visited The Ball House for quite a while, during which it has changed hands a couple of times. Recently went back with friends and really enjoyed our evening. Small changes to the decor made the place more welcoming, and the attentive and friendly staff were very hospitable. The food was excellent, from a varied and tempting menu. Our party had mixed dishes from melt in the mouth liver and bacon to barbecued ribs. Every dish was piping hot, beautifully presented, and served with a smile. We found the portions generous, and the dishes well balanced. The restaurant was three-quarters full of people of all ages and had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be returning and recommend it to all tastes.

I Went on Sunday for a carvery with a family member and we had a good-ish meal. I had pork, which I have to say was rather nice and there was a lot of it, it was also very tender and not dry at all which is sometimes hard to do, especially with a carvery. The potatoes were also crispy. However there were three choices of veg, and you only got about two bits of each (as they dish it up for you) which compared to other local pubs is different. I like a significant amount of veg with my roast but didn't feel as if I had enough at all. The pudding, which was the apple pie, while nice was soggy but I may be being fussy as I do like a crispy pastry. Overall it was a 'good-ish' meal and it was fairly priced.

Although the carvery was real nice was a little disappointed after sitting down to find that it was the only thing available on a Sunday and only vegetarian choice was sausages. The apple pie was to die for

We booked a table, and given nice table in main area. Frustratingly the waitress came back after we placed and order to say one of our choices was not available. Now I would have thought the customers should be told before they order of dishes not available - it’s not a hard thing to do! What we subsequently had was very good and the service good. The prices are good, it is a good pub fare but a bit above the “chain” types found in town. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

This is the second visit in the last few weeks, food was just as good as the first visit. Managed a dessert this time and again not disappointed. Three of us went for evening meal and ate the pie it comes highly recommended.

A super small Lincolnshire pub - offering all that you'd hope for.. Friendly, warm (in all ways especially on a winter's day) and welcoming. The landlady and her staff were very attentive whilst not being overbearing. And the food ................... well it did not disappoint - good wholesome Lincolnshire fayre - most enjoyable and filling. If you are in the area I would wholly recommend. Would advise to book so you are not disappointed. A little gem on the way from Boston toward Skegness

Had dinner with 5 other friends to celebrate Christmas. Very nice surroundings, excellent service. Food was homely, not high end but still very enjoyable.

Not been here for a couple of years as the last visit wasn’t the best, but so pleased we went back I think it’s different people in there now. The lady that served us was very friendly and pleasant to talk to. The food was on the two for £15 menu and we were most impressed with it we had steak pie and it was delicious. Two had desserts and I’m told they were just as delicious. Will definitely return.

Went as part of family birthday.Meal was superb and delicious.Service beyond reproach,pity more people were not at the premises as it would have added to atmosphere. Very cold night. Made very welcome -a little out of Boston town but,really worth making effort to visit.

18 of us went to the Ball House for Sunday lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. We all had the carvery plus starters and desserts. The food was lovely & the staff were all very friendly.Reasonable prices on both food & wine, Definitely recommend.

Excellent country setting within sight of the town, plenty of parking, but the best thing is the friendly staff, great service and fantastic food all at very reasonable prices. Why would you go anywhere else?

I visited this charming pub with my parents and brother for dad's birthday.i had the chilli it was delicious.itwas snowy that day.

Was shown to a very sticky table , more to do with the fact that it was probably not cleaned or prepared before using the wrong varnish I would imagine . Service was slow I think they may have been a waiter or two down on that day . Was shocked to see 3 small joints of meat for like family sized rather than restaurant sized . For me two thin slices of meat was ok but my husband likes a man sized portion and was told in no uncertain terms that he could not have a third slice because the restaurant was fully booked . He was even refused a second Yorkshire pudding . For me the worst part was seeing the roast potatoes swimming in an inch of oil . I have eaten carverys up and down the full length of the british isles and never before seen or tasted something so revolting . Roast potatoes should be served crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inner . Thank god fish and chip shops do not leave their chips swimming in oil before serving . I was always taught that the stem of cabbage should removed before cooking but it seems if you leave it on it will go further and serve more people . Unfortunately i dont eat stalks . All in all not an enjoyable Sunday Lunch .

we had friends visiting unexpectedly this weekend and booked a table for Saturday evening. It was great. food was excellent. service was great. it was so good we went back for lunch at the carvery sunday. very busy but again couldn't find any fault at all. Well done to all for a job well done.Best food and service for miles around.

Visited for afternoon tea and was pleasantly surprised. Having not read any reviews or heard any reports on the afternoon tea I wasn't sure what to expect.

Visited here 6 years ago to the day, was excellent then, hence our return visit and just as good this time round. Great to find a place that is consistently good in terms of food and service.

Great place for lunch good variety menu choices with excellent service and a pleasent seatting area, there is also a large car park.

Really enjoyed it, booked a table for the little girls birthday and had a great time. Food was excellent, especially the Eton mess dessert. Drinks were spot on. And the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended. Book a table for your next occasion.

A warm welcome by cheerful staff followed by prompt service lovely cold Italian larger (very welcome on a rare hot British day) for food I had liver and bacon with creamy mash and seasonal veg, every thing was spot on and good value. My wife who is a little bit of a picky eater had the gammon again all very good and she dispatched it pretty quickly which I would say is a glowing endorsement. Definitely one for another visit.

Nice pub with friendly staff and fair prices for good food. Really enjoyed a meal here after a busy day. Not the cheapest in town but good quality. Car parking and right on main A52 just outside of Boston town. Sent booking request online and confirmed ten minutes later......brilliant. Give it a try.

We ate here a year ago whilst passing through (the Sunday carvery) and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Definitely recommend the burger and staff were very friendly. Limited menu but enjoyed the meal and service was good. My friend had the pasta and it could have come with some garlic bread for the sauce, just needed a few finishes to make it better.

What a little Gem we stumbled across, visiting Boston with no idea where to eat when this appeared on tripavdisor search. Foods fantastic, friendly staff and all at a reasonable price! If we’re ever in the area again it’s a definite. Thanks the Ball House!

I have reviewed two of the restaurants previously, this time the ball house. As a guest of my extended family. there were three oldies my brothers and myself. average age 80 years, the others were mid to late fifties. I believe my brothers and I were treated unfairly, the staff must have thought that we wouldn't eat a full meal. the menu stated my meal would be a 14oz gammon steak like that of other guests mine was a four and a half inch piece of crispy bacon half a tomato an over cooked mushroom and twelve chips, the other two also had smaller portions I am sorry I cannot recommend this restaurant for the 'older good eater'

Visited the Ball House on steak night we both had flat iron steaks with all the trimmings my wife had medium I had medium rare they were both cooked to perfection. Well done again the Ball House friendly and helpful staff brilliant service and brilliant meal

The Ball House is one of the best restaurants around not only boston but Lincolnshire as a whole. The food cannot be faulted. Me and my husband dine here nearly every day and occasionally bring our granddaughter. The Sunday carvery is amazing. The food is top the place is always clean and tidy and the staff are incredibly friendly... I would recommend the ball house to anyone keep up the great work love Chris and Chris. X

Called in for a coffee and noticed that they have several Vegan options. Today was Beetroot and Quinoa Burger, with salad and onion rings, on the Specials Menu board.

Visited today for lunch and it was amazing. The Ball House is a must. The new owners ( well I haven’t called in for over two years ) have created a friendly atmosphere and the food was excellent. Will definitely be going back and recommend

Really well prepared food, Friendly staff. Main meals were delicious & following sweets were very enjoyable. Nice background music rather than irritating pop music! Would definitely recommend if you want good food & a relaxed pub environment without screaming kids!

A gorgeous Sunday carvery..Excellent choice of meat and vegetables served by lovely friendly staff..I even got an Easter egg, nice touch!..Would definately recommend and will be back for more next time I come to Boston!!...

Had lunch at the Ball House today. It was clean, tidy and the food was good. I would recommend the starter and main lunch special for £12.95. I had the burger which was good but I had food envy at the lunch special :). I had a pint of Batemans which was also very good and so was the friendly service. Would recommend this pub.

Went for a meal here about two weeks ago. Partner had gammon and I had a New Yorker burger - both really delicious.

Went for lunch at The Ball House with my parents and Grandad as another local pub we go to doesn't serve food on a monday.

Another brilliant and delicious meal for myself and my wife. We had the sharing starter then both had fish and chips all was excellently cooked and delicious. Can’t wait for the next time. Staff as usual very friendly, courteous and helpful. A nice wood fire going to keep customers warm on a very cold night. Can’t fault the night at all. Well done

We are frequent visitors to The Ball House as it's always a favourite for my wife and I. Food and service excellent as ever. I have to recommend the Homecoming Chicken with mash potatoes and chicken gravy, proper comfort food. My wife had a burger and all I can say is 'WOW'. I'll be trying that next time. A perfect night, been here several times and it never fails to impress. Big meals and so well presented. The steaks are so good and cooked to perfection. All in all a lovely romantic night with my boyfriend. One recommendation, I wish you sold prosecco by the glass.

We had intended having a meal at another local restaurant, but it was so packed that we decided to take a risk and walk up Wainfleet Road to the Ball House. We were amazed to find the usually crowded car park almost empty and wondered whether it was open or closed for evening meals. We were delighted to discover that meals were being served and we thoroughly enjoyed the main courses which we chose, namely chilli and rice and gammon and chips. They were tastefully served and washed down by a pint of beer and a glass of iced water.

Visited the Ball House today. Extremely friendly service and excellent food. Three of us had the steak and ale pie and one steak. All very tasty and nicely presented. The deserts were amazing.

Another brilliant meal here for all. Staff as usual very friendly and courteous. I had jalapeño poppers excellent then Asian sea bass very delicious my wife had cheesy garlic bread then sausage and mash which she thoroughly enjoyed, my brother in law had French onion soup then fish and chips which he enjoyed. Came for a meal with the girlfriend last week. We sat together near the fire to warm up, the restaurant was very clean and staff were lovely throughout the entire stay. I ordered the Sirloin steak and the mrs ordered their signature homecoming chicken. Both came out relatively quickly, were piping hot and were large plates of food. I chose the peppercorn sauce and extra onions rings, which was of charge on all steaks and burgers, which was a nice touch. We both really enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back soon!

We visited on Friday evening. The staff were very welcoming. The food was freshly cooked for us. We had ribs. They were very nice. Bateman's beer was kept well. We would definitely go back.

We booked a Christmas Day lunch at the Ball House Restaurant we were greeted with a pleasant smile and taken to our table.

This was our first time as a family to eat out on Christmas Day, we chose this venue as previous reviews looked okay and the public house on the outside has some character and we hoped the inside would reflect the true spirit of Christmas.

The restaurant is clean and tidy and well used by the locals, The food is good but extremely overpriced. When paying £16.00 pounds for a burger, I expected something special. It was far from it, in size and taste. The gammon at £14.00 was no better than other restaurants and not as good as others. Bangers and mash at £11.00 is extortionate and again nothing to write home about. The saving grace for this place are the staff, they are all but one outstanding.

Friends wanted to go to another pub in town, but it was fully booked so close to Christmas. Fortunately there was room at the Ball house, It was quite busy but not full and we had a choice of tables. The service and food was good, and a reasonable price, and we were all quite happy with our lunch.

We booked in advance and I had steak which I had ask for medium, I was so disappointed when I cut into it and found it running off my plate for the price the portion size was small, the only mushroom on my plate was way to sallty. Would I ever visit again. Would be a definite no way. To expensive and undercooked food was a massive put off.

Had mum's funeral buffet here. Was excellent, so decided to try carvery when back in Boston 2 days later. Sharon and staff very friendly and helpful. Homely warm atmosphere with the appearance of a traditional pub., with extra room to the rear. Plenty of parking space, and only 2 minutes drive from town centre. Most importantly, the food was excellent. Beef perfectly cooked just on the rare side of medium, but staff will slice and cook more if requested. Veg well presented to retain taste and texture. Local Bateman's ale well- kept. Moretti available for those preferring a premium lager.

Well worth a visit, choice or mix of 3 meats, and all the expected trimmings & veg. Polite and welcoming staff. Advise to book if going after 1pm. Overall deserves 5*

Booked a table here due to cancelled booking at previous restaurant. The place is warm and in pleasant surroundings. We were 4 adults having a main meal. The meals were hot and plentiful. The steaks are large and well presented. The service was a bit slower than we were used to but it was a busy evening. Overall a great place and worth a return visit.

Was staying at the local Premier Inn and upon arrival realised the local restaurant was closed for maintenance. Took the advice of the receptionist and found the Ball House. What a real treat even though it wasn't overly busy. Had a real good atmosphere and friendly staff. The house burger was more than enough to satisfy my appiete after a long days work and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit off you are in the area.

Amazing carvery. Delicious well cooked meat and the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were epic!!!!!The service was wonderful despite being busy and the desserts were amazing plus great value as an add on to the carvery. The cheese board was spectacular. Will definitely come again and I suspect use as a Sunday family regular go to restaurant. Thanks guys!!!

Visited yesterday for a baby shower. In short, for two of us had to pay £17 for an extremely basic buffet of sandwiches (cheese, ham, Tuna, egg, none of which contained salad, just lettuce in the middle of the tray) mini sausage rolls, mini scotch eggs, bit of fruit, muffins (not enough for 1 each) and scones (the same). Very disappointing, £17 was enough to have paid for the whole spread virtually, unappetising, nothing hot served yet almost 20 of us there so will have paid in the region of £170. We've eaten from the main menu here and come away happy before, extremely disappointed by our experience yesterday. There was no 'table check' and the room we were in served as a corridor to all other customers to get to the toilet. Thank goodness the company was good.

Our son was visiting from Leeds so we decided last minute to book a table for three at the Ball House. It was absolutely delicious. I had flat iron steak which was divine,my wife had the battered cod which was as good as ever and my son had a chicken filleta,mozzarella and chorizo burger which went down a treat. I we could give the food 11 out of t0 we would gladly oblige.

Highly recommended. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and all the food and drinks were served appropriately. This is the perfect place to take visiting friends.

We visited today for lunch. Initial reasonable welcome, not busy therefore not crowded. In fact we had part of the pub to ourselves, perfect. As we had only visited for a snack we chose light meals. My wife was absent when the young waiter took the order and on her behalf I ordered a garlic steak brioche. I never thought to explicitly state that my wife prefers her steak cooked medium rare, neither was I asked. The steak wasn't cooked to my wife's liking when it arrived, it was well done. We let this go as potentially I should have stated the cooking preference, although I would argue I should have been asked. I ordered two starters, scotch egg with a caramelised onion chutney and as a second dish brushetta bread with cheese and tomato. The scotch egg was nice except the very long hair within. The brushetta bread was not as described. It resembled pre bought fried croutons and unfortunately they had a very stale fatty taste. When the waiter attended the table to clear the plates I pointed out the hair, no response. I asked whether the fat used to fry the alleged brushetta was stale. I know that brushetta is not fried but I could not offer any other explanation for the stale fatty taste. I was told that the brushetta was oven baked and no oil was used. In short, he shot me down. As you do, we decided let's pay with no tip and leave. As I paid, for some strange reason I was asked again by the same waiter if everything was OK. How odd. I referred to our previous conversation about my perception of stale fat/oil used in the preparation of my brushetta ( which incidentally was not brushetta). Again I was dismissed with an explanation the fat had come from the bread. How bizarre. I tried to explain that if I was preparing brushetta at home I would drizzle such with olive oil, such fell on deaf ears. I think what upsets me the most is that I was not listened to, my point was dismissed and given the age of the waiter he, I suspect, would not have had sufficient dining experience for him to be so dismissive. Also, no apology or acknowledgement of the hair found in the scotch egg!

The meal was excellent including vegan options for my brother, the service was very good always with a smile . I would definitely recommend the ball house .

My favourite place to eat in Boston!The staff are lovely and friendly, food is excellent and the atmosphere is so cosy! What more could you want!? There a lot to choose from on the menu but I always go with king prawns for starter and steak for main! Yum!I know the ball house has had a bad name in the past from previous owners but if you are unsure about trying here please give it a chance! I'm sure you wont be disappointed!

Decided at the last minute to visit for Sunday lunch and were so lucky to get a table. The cavery was amazing, such a choice of perfectly cooked meats. The roast potatoes were devine and the vegetables .....just awesome !! There were two vegetarians with us and it was no problem for them as they every need was catered for ......fresh vegetarian gravy brought to the table we did not even ask it was offered !!! Dessert was not a let down either ....sublime.With ample parking and a fantastic atmosphere we will go back to sample the main menu and this will now be our first choice for a fantastic Sunday lunch treat :)See you soon !

In Boston for the weekend and The Ball House was near our hotel. Were were greeted more like friends than customers and had a delicious meal with a very acceptable bottle of wine. If we lived anywhere near, we would certainly be back. Thank you all for a very pleasant evening.

Friends were visiting and wanted to eat out. Have not been for a while and thought we would give it a try. After we had booked, our son told us he had been the night before and how good it was.How right he was, great front of house and the food, my, the gammon was superb, a plateful of excellent food. Everyone enjoyed their meals and desserts, certainly one of the best pub meals we have had in a while.

I cannot thank Louise enough for helping surprise James. Nothing was too much trouble. There was 30 friends and family and the food was extremely well presented, delicious and hot. I cannot fault a thing. Lovely staff and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Thank you again for making it an unforgettable evening. We will definitely be eating here again!

Looking for evening meal decided to visit the Ball House. Very nice decor smart and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and service was prompt. Food was excellent and we get 10% off our next meal if we go back within a month yipee will definitely do that. They also have an afternoon tea offer which I would like to try

I visited today with a friend and had a lovely lunchtime treat!! Our scotch egg starter was delicious and we followed that with fish and chips. It's friendly staff made for a very nice experience..We are already planning our next visit for afternoon tea!!

We needed an early morning rendezvous point for a club meeting in the area and got in touch with Matt and Sharon. Also required was good car parking, bacon rolls and tea/coffee.We were met by Louise who had opened especially for us and she did a great job of hosting us and supplying the bacon rolls and tea etc. She even stopped the traffic on the main road to get all 18 cars out too.Great service and a fabulous start to a successful day. Thanks to the chef too!

My wife and l visited the Ball House .. we have visited twice now , the staff greeted us with lovely smiles and a warm welcome , attending to our needs making sure we were comfortable and the meals were to our satisfaction . We would recommend The Ball House to All who enjoy a very clean establishment , very nice surroundings and very good food . Mr & Mrs S Graham .
