Just had the most delicious Sunday lunch here- the roast lamb was amazing. Squeezed in a pudding and went for the special - apple and blackberry crumble. Not as expected, more a deconstructed crumble and not a crunchy topping but still very yummy 😋

We booked the Purple room for a 21st party. The venue is conveniently located with a good size car park. The room is a good size and shape for a party with a seating alcove for those wanting to chat. We were allowed to place decorations around the room and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The buffet food was good quality and the staff set it out for us. Would thoroughly recommend this venue.

Woken up at about 0420 by the fire alarm. Spent around an hour in the street waiting for the fire brigade to check the building and a staff member to arrive. Very poor night's sleep. Fire alarm showed fire in basement which turned out to be a false alarm.

We were recommended to go to The Black Boy for a meal and were very pleased that we did. There was plenty of choice on the menu for adults and our five year old grandson really enjoyed his meal. The service was very good and the food arrived quickly and was hot. I will certainly visit this pub again when we are next in the area. Apparently it gets very busy, so i advise that you book so as not to be disappointed.

Went for Sunday Lunch to celebrate ours and my parents anniversary’s. On arrival there was a large wedding party taking photos just as you came through the door. ( This made getting to book in very difficult as even when politely asked to let us through they continued taking photos and blocking the entrance area. ( I understand that it is a wedding Venue but maybe a better idea to gather wedding parties away from the restaurant entrance) Once we were seated we waited an awful long time for our drinks , when they arrived the waitress proceeded to miss the water glass and pour all over the table! We had been asked that we sat and they brought drinks to us but would have been better to have purchased from the bar because we ended up having to chase our drinks. Service was slow and sloppy. Our mains arrived minus any of our party having roast potatoes. By the time we had managed to get somebody’s attention and ask for potatoes two of the party had nearly finished their meals. Onto Coffee which took over 30 minutes to arrive. My Tia Maria coffee arrived with 80% of the cream in the saucer and down the glass. I wasn’t even offered another napkin to mop the mess up! Good job I carry tissues! Considering what you pay for a Sunday Lunch the service and care was very mediocre.

We have been customers (as a family of four) of this Wetherspoons for a long while now, as we tend to have a meal here on a Saturday evening after our swim session in the local pool. We have always been happy with the service and food- cheap and cheerful, but ok. Until the last few weeks. For three weeks consecutively, two or more members of our party have had upset stomachs after dining here. We thought that it may have been a coincidence or something the first time, but when it kept on occurring, we realised that the only thing it could've been was the food that we ate at the Wetherspoons. Will probably not return in the future, honestly really disappointing, especially as one member of our party was really really ill from the last occasion- very unpleasant.

Decided to return after reminiscing about a trip exactly 10 years ago and delighted to find it just as good. Lovely room , lovely pub , lovely staff and lovely food. Cant beat an open pub fire. When booking always tick the dinner and breakfast package, fantastic value for money.

The Wheatsheaf is highly recommended in a very quaint village. The restaurant is cosy and the staff very attentive. We went with the family and thoroughly enjoyed both the quality of the food and the presentation was outstanding, I had the venison which was cooked to perfection and so tender it melted in the mouth. Compliments to the chef and restaurant staff for a very pleasant time which was well spent in the quiet ambiance of the Wheatsheaf

Rang last minute for a table of 10 on Silverstone Festival weekend and they couldn't of been more helpful in accommodating us. Service was super friendly and all of our food was great. Will definitely be back next time we are racing at Silverstone!

The pub from the outside looked like it needed some attention appearing very run down but internally we really liked it. Homely, welcoming and Maggie the dog sat by the television in old position, this pub has got bags of potential... My kind of pub but sadly they were not serving food. We ended up having some drinks and a packet of crisps instead. They have a games room with a pool table and a couple of televisions and a nice garden and all this pub needs is an outdoor lick of paint. We enjoyed our visit. Visited 23rd March 2024
