Went on Sunday but no Sunday Lunch menu only ordinary menu and whist had Beef Chilli with rice and Nachos which was okay . Dinning area was cold and not exactly hospitable however I have been here before about 2 years ago and was able to sit outside on a busy day and the food was better

Extremely rude barman. Was planning on having a meal here but ended up walking out. Sat down at a largish table with our dog, sat here previously with no issues. The barman was talking to another gentleman who was sat down (landlord we think) and quite loudly said something about us sitting at this large table when there was 2 of us. He never said anything to our face just a snidey comment to this man. We would have moved if it was an issue, but there was only a couple in and that was it so didn't think it was a problem. At this point, I thought sod you, we'll take our custom somewhere else so off we went.

We met our retired friends at 12 noon, what a disaster, he’s 80 , he , tripped over a brick that was holding a mat over a cable or something. He was lifted up off the floor and we got him to a table . No one asked us if he was ok. We waited an hour for our meal which was very poor , no one asked if the meal or my friend was ok . Left so disgusted that I couldn’t be bothered to complain to staff that are so uncaring. I’ve never left a bad review in my 69 years of life, but this pub needs to sort itself out big style . Tim

A lovely little pub tucked away to the side of the canal where we had moored up. We had been travelling all day and was eager to eat but The Steamboat had stopped serving food ( it was after 8pm ) the landlord was most accommodating and allowed us to grab a take out and eat it there and even provided us with plates! You just dont get that kind of service every day and we were really grateful. Thank you to all at The steamboat for going above and beyond it was greatly appreciated and we will be back!

Called in for a couple of drinks with my son and a bag of crisps after a long walk. We arrived after lunchtime, the bar had plates and glasses scattered all across it. The member of staff was sat down on arrival, he got straight up to serve us. He put my crisps on top of a dirty plate on the bar. My son moved them off. I nipped to the toilets and left my son to pay. On my return he'd put my drink on top of the same dirty plate. My sons a teenager and he even commented on it to me. I dont understand why you would do that. Anyway it's put me off going back which is a shame. But I don't think it's rocket science to know not to place a customers order ontop of dirty crockery that a different customer has used. I didnt question this as quite frankly it didn't look like the member of staff even wanted to be there.

We stopped off at the steamboat fora drink after a walk and decided to sit inside for the first time. Quirky interior with just 4 people sitting down, one of whom turned out to be the landlord. Pleasant young lady behind the bar followed by a friendly pleasant barman when she left. Husband was happy with his beer and I had a big pot of tea and was given a mug which I was happy about. So far so good. Then some obvious regulars came in and the visit deteriorated. The language was appalling, not exactly quiet and not a word was uttered by the landlord. Our visit ended soon after.

Beautiful setting by the Trent Loch. Sadly the service was atrocious. The waitress literally slammed the drinks on the table. The drinks splashed over me and she didn’t say a thing. Just walked away. Very unusual. The order was incorrect as she had bought an extra drink but we didn’t say anything. She then returned with the card machine to take payment and we asked about food and just barked a reply they had stopped serving at 6 pm. Admittedly we should have noticed the sign that said that on the way in. Unfortunately the decking was very dirty with cigarette ends and food and the tables were extremely close. As we had a puppy with us it was a bit of an issue. I’m afraid to say we left without finishing our drinks. Has to be a first.

We visited this pub yesterday, 14th June, I went with my son and daughter in law for a treat. We ordered drinks, then they'd run out of lager. We looked at the pathetic menu offering and were told they had run out of chips. No track and trace. So we went over the road to the "other pub". There we had to sign in and order on the app and delicious food was served at the outside table. If people couldn't order on the app the staff took the orders. Wish we'd gone there first. Don't think we'll be returning.

Called in for an early evening tea after a days boating. We found the pub very welcoming and the staff polite and helpful. We ordered our meal before finding a table and asked if we could eat in the quieter room. The barman said no problem and whilst we walked round he took our food order to the kitchen. Within a short time the Chef came over and brought sauces, salt and pepper and cutlery. He apologised and said he was serving table and cooking and hoped we didn't mind. Our food arrived after around 15 minutes which to us was about right for cooked to order items. The food was really well presented and tasted lovely - we even got home made tartar sauces. After we had finished the Chef asked if we wanted anything else. We weren't sure and asked him to give us 5 minutes. As he passed us taking out another order he called across to say he'd just made a stem ginger and treacle tart if we were interested, we were hooked and ordered a portion to share. It was excellent and rounded off a lovely meal. We will be back and only hope the same Chef is on duty. Overall a lovely experience - Thank you

I visited here with friends from New Zealand and there were 5 of us eating in the restaurant. Two of us had the sausage and mash which was stunning! No lumps in this mashed potato! The sausage was delicious and lovely gravy NOT the granule variety. The Stilton burger is to die for and the cajun chicken burger was amazing. We eat out a lot and this meal was as good and as fresh as any I've tasted. The chef has been there 3 weeks and he personally came out to check if our meal was to our liking, that for me means he genuinely cares. My partner couldn't get into the restaurant due to an injury, so as a one off chef was happy to plate him a meal for me to take to him. Great meal, great food and great service.

Went there specifically on a Sunday, to be told that Sunday lunch was off the menu. Paid the same price, £9, for a dollop of lumpy mashed potato, three "Lincolnshire sausages" that must surely have come all the way from the local supermarket, a pile of overcooked peas and packet gravy - and it was all barely lukewarm.

After a lovely walk by the canal on quite a warm day my husband and I decided to stop off for a brief outside sit down at the steamboat, I went inside to order one small latte and a lime and soda, when the drinks were brought out the latte was luke warm and the soda water must have been out of a bottle because it was disgustingly flat, so we won't return

Picturesque canal side setting. Large decking area outside. Inside in need of a serious declutter. Polite staff and good range of real ale. Menu is very basic and although food was edible it is seriously overpriced for what you get; cheese baguette and a portion of chips £7.50. Maybe worth a visit for a drink but the pub across the other side of the lock might be a better bet if you want to eat.

A new chef since last week has given The Steamboat Inn a much needed lease of life! Fantastic homemade food, excellent selection of Ales and dog friendly inside and out. Right on the river by the lock you couldn’t ask for more. The food serving hours have been extended so it’s the perfect setting for tea after work and a lovely stroll to walk it off! Bravo!
