BARTLEWOOD LODGE in Erewash

Very unwelcoming manager. After waiting in the entrance for someone at the 'please wait here sign', the gentleman there politely said we where welcome to have a drink at the bar but there were no tables available to sit at as they were fully booked. We thanked him and we ordered our drinks. Whilst the drinks were being poored we were then approached by the manager, in a very confrontational manner saying" have you just let yourselves in". We tried to explain that we had waited at the door, and spoke to gentleman there whom had welcomed us in, but he rudely kept cutting us off saying no walk ins today. There was no signage to say that no drinks where being served, nothing on the Web page or Facebook page and the staff had happily allowed us in and began to serve us. We have visited bartlewood lodge on xmas day for the previous 6 years to toast a drink to my brother whom got killed after finishing a shift working there, and whom is buried at Dale Hill next door, and to toast to the staff as a thank you for there support. The New manager was point blank rude, insensitive, uncompationate and ruined a moment for a still grieving family. Very disappointed to say the least

I booked 3 festive menus. The starters came quickly but the pizza didn't arrive until I complained. 2 had the carvery which was as expected on this chain. Again I had to ask for the desserts. One order was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream but this arrived with custard. Another was the Christmas pudding with brandy sauce. This was cold and had no flavour at all. The restaurant wasn't too busy so the delay wasn't due to the staff being over stretched. Disappointing.

From the moment we walked through the door we was looked after, there was no chaos like we have had in previous years at other restaurants, no queues at the bar served straight away and our starters arrived as soon as we said we were ready the whole experience was fabulous, the staff the food everything it made our Christmas, thank you Bartleywood highly recommended

Went for Boxing Day. Great atmosphere and staff looked after us really well, particularly Debbie. Good food and good service 👍

Carvery was amazing!! Loved the pork crackling and the mash potatoes, definitely recommend the beef and pork, great service of Fay and Hailey and would definitely come back :)

The food was brilliant.. Roasties are delicious I really recommend getting a lot of them. Definitely coming back soon with the great service of hailey and fay.

Got to say, we can't really give any ratings as we never got to eat, from the moment we entered we knew it wasn't going to end well, it is wholly unfair to give a negative review when they're obviously understaffed and so close to Xmas but you would think the logic of taking bookings when you advise customers at arrival of such a long wait is ridiculous (unless you have the carvery) surely it would make more sense to not accept any advanced bookings and/or advise not to arrive at all given the situation, I have to say that the limited staff available looked miserable and stressed, not surprising given the large number of people waiting to be served which is quite understandable and smacks of mental torture, but you should at least attempt to stay positive under duress, I can't blame the waiting staff but the management should take a long hard look at the situation if they're not to turn more custom away, we won't be returning again until we get word of mouth that things have positively changed.

Overall, a pleasant experience with a good choice of food at a convenient location..

Table booked for 17 of us... although 2 cancelled last minute the table was only laid for 14? Staff were quick to rectify and cancelled the 2 pre orders. Staff were attentive and asked when we were ready for all courses. Was quicker to go to the bar rather than use the app for drinks. Food was amazing as always though. Puddings were fabulous!! Well worth the money for our works Christmas gathering.

Fab place, some items a bit pricey but they have a deal a day so it makes them more affordable if you choose s day to go. Always busy, best to book a table. Staff are lovely, food good. Ample parking available.

We have become quite regular here and on every visit, it never ever fails. Food and service are always on point. Keep being great guys.

Great place for food, have returned many of times, always good service and will happily recommend. The revamp of the pub looks amazing.

Was an xmas group meal. We all had a good time and staff where pleasant and fun. The food was great vegetarian/vegan options was good plenty of choice too which makes a change from other places which was one of the main reasons for booking at Bartlewood lodge. Thanks to the staff for helping make the evening a laugh 😃

Absolutely fabulous carvery , all food nicely cooked and piping hot visited about 3pm on Thurs before Christmas. Truly enjoyed it and can't wait to visit again 😋

The only thing that we would need to change is the draught to the area where we were sat! As we were in the conservatory area!

Excellent value for money carvery and drinks. The table for 4 people was a little small. Otherwise very good place to eat.

Been here twice for breakfast with the guys from work. All you can eat, great value and decent quality. Really can't go wrong.

Came to lunch to celebrate a family birthday. Fabulous service, warm welcome & friendly staff.

Staff brilliant, speed of deliver via app excellent, atmosphere nice, comfort was ok although air-conditioning was chilling and draughty. Carvery was tasty BUT was not hot just merely warm. Clearance of table was very good. We have been before and everything was perfect, we will come again to see if the carvery improves.

I ordered a pulled pork burger that was meant to be saucy and hot, my burger came burnt, my bun was burnt, there was no filling or love put into my meal and it saddened me. The burger was also supposed to have salad in and had none so was very disappointed with my meal. I paid £15 for a filled burger with nice meat patties that tasted burnt and stale. Not happy at all.

The food is cheap and good, but a bit bland and I would recommend the pub roast because of the price.

Had a too good to go pot. It was full to the and tasted great.

Food is what you would expect from a pub. All you can eat breakfast was good and plenty of choice but paying £0.49 extra for mushrooms seems an odd choice. Not sure why not included in buffet price. Toast station was a bit out the way so not everyone realised could get toast too. We're a large group but weren't able to all sit together despite booking in advance.

5* thank you to all the staff, Adam 5* service. Will be back again for another carvery yummy 😋

Loving the new decor, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere

Everything from being greeted at the door to the breakfast, cleanliness was exceptional. The best breakfast around as far as l’m concerned. There’s nothing that l can honestly say we didn’t enjoy. Very relaxing can take your time and don’t feel pressured to leave.

Food was amazing as always, we go most Sundays and think it's the best carvery in the Midlands, even further than that. Kitchen staff (james especially) are amazing and are always helpful and are always saving pork crackling for me and the missus (Which is absolutely amazing), also Faye and Milly are always on hand to help when clearing away and setting up, and Nico on reception is always letting us eat early even tho we book. He always tries to get us a table. Bartlewood lodge is amazing, hence why we keep going back every weekend. All bar staff are also helpful. Thank you Bartlewood for making us feel welcome. Best by far.

The food can be very hit and miss here sadly, some days the mash will be beautiful others it'll be dry lumpy and poorly seasoned just depends who's on shift sadly.

Brilliant value. Don't get all the negative posts that were on the reviews, but there will always be someone unhappy. Good concept, happy staff and great product for the.price.

Today we have a delicious carvery. The Turkey was lovely and all the veg tasty and hot.Really enjoyed our meal here as we always do.

Myself and family have just been to Bartlewood Lodge for dinner and were pleasantly surprised they were able to seat us at a prime time for an evening meal. Carvery was lovely and child's meal came out very quickly. Empty plates were also cleared away quickly rather than being left until we had vacated the table. Lucy M, was very polite and made conversation with my 5 year old about her face paint and Halloween dress, as was another member of staff about her curly hair - lovely to hear and see the staff interacting with guests. Overall very nice experience and meal :)

Booked for a family birthday celebration. Food good and Lucy S looked after us and put cling film over the cake etc. some had carvery some had ordered food off menu.

Came for a carvery on the spur of the moment, did not book a table this time ,but after a short wait was shown to our table, great food as always debbie looked after our table, really great service as always, even found room for a dessert 🍨 🥧

Been for Sunday lunch today with family food absolutely lovely and top service from Debbie a member of staff such a lovely kind lady nothing was to much trouble , we shall definitely return ☺️

We decided to visit on Wednesday lunchtime, not having been here since before it was Crown carvery. We were all very impressed with the quality of the carvery and the friendly helpful staff. We will definitely be visiting again.

Tried to make an online booking for a large party, was cancelled online with no contact or reason.

Food was good but we sat on the table next to the door/entrance and the phone was ringing non stop for the whole time we were sat there. Maybe the phone should be put on silent during busy periods

Previous was nice this time when went carvery came out luke warm guessing plate heaters were not on as may meet to the heating up on carvery lamps a little or spot check temps during day

Have been a regular visitor for Christmas lunch and breakfasts for many years Breakfast this morning was awful had to wait for fresh eggs to be cooked coffee and tea were cold we waited that long. toast moved away from serving area another wait for that to go through and when we came to eat breakfast everything cold and fresh eggs cooked were undercooked. Travel from burton on trent to come here dint think I will bother again.
