BARTLEWOOD LODGE in Erewash

Breakfast was chucked on a plate by a stroppy staff member. Wasn't great and all staff looked tired and fed up. Not a good experience and won't bother again any time soon 😐

Having been a regular visitor to Bartlewood before the pandemic I was so looking forward to a carvery when they reopened. Not sure if I should have bothered, went their on the 29/05/21, arrival and shown to the table was good, ordering via the App was ok 2 carveries, 2 drinks and a BOTTOMLESS ICE CREAM SUNDAE with 2 toppings.After finishing the Carvery we waited over an hour and still no one came to take the plates or bring me the ice-cream.So I ordered another drink via the app just to get service, hey no drink arrived! and still no ice-cream.During the long waite staff could be heard arguing intensively with each other, other customers also commented on this. and guess what still no drink or ice-cream, my son then went to find a member of staff who was less than impressed and said we must have ordered to the wrong table number (20). I can clearly state we had not. so she goes to get the drink an ice-cream and brings them with a serious attitude. Guess what we still ding get what we ordered so out of pocket, poor service and clearly tension with the staff!!!!!

Came here with a friend for breakfast. It was clean, staff were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. Sandra and Thomas gave amazing customer service, nothing was too much trouble. They are an asset to the company, and we will return and recommend Bartlewood Lodge to others.

I don’t normally review but I felt I needed to todayMy sister and I had lunch here today and I have never had a worse lunch everThe staff appeared very stressed so their customer service was lacking, perhaps no fault of their ownWe both had the fish and chips. The chips were dry and the fish neither tasted or smelt like fish and the batter was soggyI had peas that were coated in butter, obviously taken from the carvery table, but not something you want with fish and chipsThey could only offer one draft cider and didn’t have a very basis red wineSorry but you really did not deliver today - very disappointing, won’t be returning

Visited today 21 st May for lunch. Tables were socially distanced and staff were were polite. Main problem was our table was situated in the window adjacent to the swing doors of the kitchen. I wish I had counted how many times staff went backwards and forwards through these doors it must have been well over 50 times in the hour we were there. Every time the doors were used they made a loud squeaking noise it got so bad we both ended up laughing, talk about a relaxing lunch....not! One of us had the fish meal which was quite disappointing, it was not the usual large fluffy battered portion we used to get “pre Covid” and my small plate meat free car very was really a child’s portion. Not the relaxing lunch we were looking forward too.

Visited today. The tables and everything adhere very well to all the COVID rules. Staff very friendly and polite.However I had a small carvery ( which I have had many times in the past). I chose turkey but today only received one tiny slice. (Perhaps you have had a review on portion sizes during lockdown). All the veg were very tasty apart from the roast potatoes which were rock hard and burnt. Oh dear. I hope this was only a blip .

Booked online but was able to modify time on phone at short notice by helpful staff. Been many times before Covid so not sure what to expect. The sensible safety precautions mean you now have to choose everything for staff to put on you plate rather than self service.This is not a problem for customers but causes extra work for staff who also bring the meal and drinks to your table where they also accept payment by card. The meal was enjoyable in what appears to be a safe and pleasant environment.

I love dining here, staff are so friendly, brilliant service, clean. Lovely location, plenty of food, all fresh not frozen.

Visited here for a carvery and was not disappointed. This was my first visit since lockdown so we booked ahead and were shown to our tables. We were instructed to place orders at the bar (following social distancing) and a member of staff would let us know when our meals could either be collected, or we were able to go up for our carvery. My husband had a pizza which he thoroughly enjoyed and I went for the largest carvery (largest plate and extra pigs in blankets). It was really nice, three selections of meat and as much veg as I wanted. Both really happy and now I know I can have a carvery any day of the week I will be back again I’m sure very soon.

Bartlewood used to do the best carvery but our experience was not great on Sunday. The menu promised pork and crackling but this wasn't offered on the day; we were given a choice of beef, gammon/turkey. The meat was nice and tender, but disappointing that we weren't allowed to help ourselves to veg and potatoes. The cheese on the cauliflower cheese was non existent and the cauliflower was practically raw still. Roast potatoes were also hard in the middle and weren't crispy at all. It also felt a bit strange to be offered baked beans, chips and mushy peas with a Sunday roast. Food wise, I would give it two stars but the additional star is for the brilliant staff. They were all really friendly and attentive, couldn't fault any of them at all. Unfortunately, we won't be visiting again which is a shame. We were also given a laminated menu which had obviously seen better days and handled by a lot of previous diners.

We arrived at lunch time the girl on the door very polite explained the rules on covid we had the carvery which was nice and hot all the veg were fresh staff very helpful and smiling doing a good job will go back again

Carvery and pizzas here are lovely, cant fault them.Breakfast on the other hand, not so good.Sausages are nice but thats about it.Bacon is like leather, eggs are rubber (think its the heat lamps) and the server just dumped it all on the plate.Only a young lad, so maybe needs to be taught how to plate up correctly as you cant do it yourself any more, due to covid restrictions.

We stopped here for lunch yesterday on the spur of the moment. We used to come here years ago when our children were small and it used to be lovely. We ordered a cheese baguette & chips & chicken & bacon salad. The girl who took the order was really miserable looking, no smile or anything. When we collected the food , it looked and tasted awful. The bacon in the salad was barely cooked, not crispy, white fatty. The salad was drowned in a nasty dressing . The baguette was covered in cheap greasy margarine. We left most of it.We definitely won’t be returning here. It definitely was not how we remembered it to be.

Came for food here with the wife, one of the first times we’ve been out in many months. Asked a member of staff what the procedure is, and we got a ‘can’t be bothered’ look, as she half heartily told us a brief explanation. Another member of staff was also very blunt with us. After being closed, I would think you’d be keen to get customers returning. The food was good, but I did not like the way we felt like an inconvenience to the staff. Maybe try again in a few months.

Credit where it's dueWent to Bartlewood Lodge for breakfast this morning with the good lady Julie in this present situation keeping distance and sanitised can't speak more highly for the system they use to serve you and make the leased fuss and give you a pleasant eating experience is the best I've come across since the relaxing of lock down well done all of you will defiantly be back

Booked in for breakfast for 4 of us. Excellent service greeted at the door introduced to peter the manager who shown us to our table and explained the procedure. We then got served by Steven a lovely lad too. Lovely food and drinks too.

This was a convenient half-way meeting point for my friends and I to meet for lunch. I have been here a few times before, but it was a few years since my friends last visited. I have always found it to be accommodating, never had any issues and the food is good value for money. It is always noticeably clean and tidy too, which adds something to the overall feel of the place. There is a good menu to suit most appetites, but we all went for the carvery. This is £6.79 and increases to £9.29 on a Sunday. We ordered, went straight to the carvery deck, which was well stocked and had our meals in front of us within minutes of arriving. Everything was hot and tasty and my friends enjoyed it and went back for extra potatoes and veg.I'd definitely say it is a family friendly pub, affordable and spacious with a good size car park. Another plus point is the various offers on the app, which is worth downloading. I think we would definitely meet up here again.

We visited the natural buriel ground situated next to the lodge to sort out a plot for my mum who had passed away two days before. We were told we could park in the car park. Having visited the plot we were returning to our cars when we were approached aggressively by a woman we perceived as the Bartle Wood Lodge landlady who proceded to shout at us to leave the car park. We were shocked to hear this as we were lead to believe we could park here especially as the car park was empty. We tried to explain our situation but she was not interested. After an upsetting couple of days this made me not only feel worse but physically ill. I cannot understand people like this and will never visit the Bartle Wood Lodge in the future if it reopens.

After having had a lovely meal here a couple of months ago we thought it the ideal place to bring our son and daughter in law for a night out. Having phoned earlier to reserve a table we had a problem on arrival locating a member of staff to show us to where we would be sitting. We then placed our order at the bar, being told that there was a 30/40 minutes wait for a burger ordered by my son. That wasn't a problem so we sat enjoying our drinks and chatting, when after nearly 45 minutes a member of staff arrived and proceeded to tell me that the Turkey baguette I had requested was no longer available. As I only normally eat poultry, I begrudgingly agreed to gammon and then waited another 5/6minutes to be told it was ready.On collecting it I then went to the salad bar only to find what could only be described as the dregs of everything, I know you don't want to have loads to throw away but surely when there are still customers being served meals there should be something left to actually put on your plate.I ended up with a teaspoonful of beetroot,a small amount of lettuce, coleslaw and a few luke warm chips. I know you were busy, but would have thought that as we had placed our order when there was plenty turkey that some would have been carved off ready for the rest of our order, there was enough for my son's burger so that had obviously been put by ready. Needless to say I was really disappointed tonight.

Sunday lunch here in aid of a friend’s birthday, and a welcome break from a difficult journey because of floods. Food excellent, service pretty good (but bar staff could pretend to be a little less disinterested), pricing just what I’d expect for a carvery on a Sunday, but maybe not quite the atmosphere to rank as five-star. Vegetarians could have a cheap meal with the wide selection of veg, or select a nut roast and pay similar to us meat eaters. I would visit again, but probably weekday.

Came for a nice family lunch only to find it bursting at the seams with a large coach blocking the carpark and no room to eat. Very dissapointed and staff were very rude... last time here I'm afraid... avoid unless you like your carvery sat in your car eating it...

Breakfast was hot and tasty. Items replenished quickly. Toaster could do with turning up a bit, people were putting the bread through twice and burning it, hence a burnt smell at times in the restaurant. No plates on the side for the toast despite someone asking for some !!! Overall a good experience and enjoyable. Thank you.

Been here several times I never had all this bad experience people write on here I understand it’s hard to please every one but honestly some of them are just funny...Everytime we had good time and Carvery Always top Notch and lots to choose...Price going up a bit,but everything goes up this days.So always friendly staff and all good overall!!

Where to start?The food was terrible. In fact, the bacon was the worst bacon I've ever tasted, and the fried egg was so greasy and oily that it slid off my plate onto the table.We were asked if we wanted mushrooms with our 'all you can eat breakfast', to which I replied 'yes, of course'... That was an extra £1 each.The mushrooms we purchased as an extra apparently came in the form of a 'token', much like the tokens you would use to deposit into your preferred charity box at the local supermarket... Needless to say we unwittingly donated our mushrooms to the NSPCA and MacMillan Cancer Support.We won't be going back.

Visited on Saturday 18th January with friends to celebrate a birthday. Only one member of staff at the bar, plenty milling about in the back ground, kept looking at us but felt totally ignored. Finally got served ordered drinks and shown to our table. Had a look at the carvery but looked totally unappetizing so chose fish and chips. While the fish was very tasty with lovely light batter the chips were overcooked and cold. You had to help yourself to mushy peas but these were hard being sat under the heat lamp... no atmosphere as hardly anyone in.Not a place where I'd go and eat in future.

Bartlewood Lodge is a lovely pub set in countryside near Ilkeston in Derbyshire.The staff are very friendly and helpful. The decor is tastelful and reflects the historic feel of the building. The pub is mainly a carvery but it offers pizzas also. The selection of vegetables is always good; there is something for everyone. I would say that this pub is probably the best value for money in Derbyshire and nobody goes home hungry!I usually visit Bartlewood Lodge with my wife and two brothers. As my wife has to use an electric wheelchair it is great that we are able to book, in advance, a suitable table.Both parking and accessibility is very good. We are already looking forward to our next visit to Bartlwood Lodge.

Called for a carvery with my partner this afternoon - the place itself is nice and the staff smart and friendly but the roast beef was the worst I have ever had.Impossible to cut and so chewy it was like rope. I had to spit mine out discreetly and have brought the rest home to feed to the fox but he will probably leave it - see photograph.There is no point putting on a carvery when the main part of it is so dire and no one bothered to ask if we had enjoyed it (probably knew what the answer would be).My advice would be save your money and go elsewhere.You have been warned !!!

Popped in for a carvery the staff are very slow however the carvery was lovely, very busy definitely worth the money however the beef was very disappointing as it was all grissle... I didnt complain as the vegetables were that nice i was already full

Came here for Christmas meal with friends. Good festive menu, alongside standard menu. Large range of carvery meats, vegetables and accompaniments. All well cooked and kept. Very tasty.

Friendly staff. Great food. Happy family. Never been disappointed and been here loads of times. It wasn't mega busy for a Sunday. Advise is book a table early.

The food is okay but the hygiene is poor. My family and I visited earlier this evening and out cutlery was in a dirty cutlery holder in the table like seen in the image below, dirty plates was on the stack when I was at the front of the que. Marks are on the forks and the gravy is like water and in dirty pots, the sides has food all over. Tables are left dirty a lot.

Good carvery, but spoiled by confusion of the 99p plate!! When we ordered the meal for 4 adults and 1 child, my daughter specifically said that she was going to share the child meal with a 3 year old and a 20 month old. The person taking the order at no time explained that we needed to purchase a 99p plate for the 20 month old. So when being served our carvery we were then faced with going to back to the bar and queuing to buy this plate before we could be served. I cannot understand why this wasn’t explained to us when we paid for our meals. It would have saved us a fraught experience of queuing for our carvery, not being served until we’d bought the 99p plate, then queuing at the till to pay 99p then queuing AGAIN to be served our carvery. All this queuing & confusion really marred our experience of a family meal!! After eating our meal I went to look for signs that explained about the 99p phenomenon and all I can say it was very poorly advertised throughout Bartlewood Lodge. Perhaps the staff need further training so that they can explain this to customers when they are placing orders!!

Called here for evening meal as we had a voucher, great choice. We decided to have a pizza each rather than the Carvery. Being vegetarian we normally have the veg, which is very nice, but wanted something different. We chose the goats cheese pizza, which was really nice, probably one of the best pizzas I've had. The food was ready very quickly, we were eating 15 minutes after ordering. Will certainly choose the pizza again.

Arrived here at 7pm for my partners 21st birthday. At first the physical evidence both externally and internally really raised my initial perception of the place.

I’ve been here a few times now for a Sunday lunch and every times the food has been good. Always very busy, and a nice location. The price for two lunches and two drinks is around £25-£30, there are cheaper Sunday lunches in derby but here is one of the better ones.

This changed some time ago from a Crown Carvery Pub to a Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery as many of these pubs did.

Fancied a carvery and Bartlewood was recommended. Visited about 4.30pm and was busy but plenty of seating available. Easy to park and nice surroundings. Food was good, great choice available. The carver was very friendly and we were served quickly. Plenty of meat, my son went large and he was beaten . Would recommend for a good value carvery.

Two drinks and two turkey carveries. All hot and well cooked. Sixty one deep beer good. Just beat the rush. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will go again

We arrived approximately at 7pm. There was a notice on the door saying they are now on 'winter opening times' (never heard of this before) serving food until 8pm

You NEED to sort out your online orders. We arrived 2.30pm and purchased the carvery for 4 of us. We queued up for the carvery, and were in the que a good 15 minutes waiting when 7 or 8 online takeaway orders were served before us. Then the lady behind the carvery counter stopped and started cleaning the carvery area up, all the while the que was getting longer and longer. No explanation as to why were weren’t getting served and while it had stopped. The only reason you’re getting 2 stars is because of the fact that when we eventually got our food it was alright. You need to train your staff in communication and subtlety! There really should be a separate kitchen or area for the online orders as it does no favours.

We came for the first time today for all you can eat breakfast, excellent value for money!

We got there and they said we have to wait 20 minutes for the carvery however they were serving the carvery 5 minutes later and didn't let us know.we only had a choice of burger,pizza or fish and chips.we wanted a floater coffee after and we were told they only have a standard coffee machine now but haven't changed the menus and we didn't get an apology.staff Were so unapologetic!!

I came here for the first time with my family, the food was nice and pretty good value for money, but the staff were so miserable. We spoke to three in total and they all looked like they didn’t want to be there, no sign of management from what I could see. It’s a shame because it brought the atmosphere down. Would come back due to the food but hopefully the staff might be a bit more chipper next time?

expensive.cant serve drinks properly-wanted cola but they didnt have it but then outside when leaving i saw them bringing bottles of coke in! chewy meat,gravy is kfc standard.full of miserable old gits.used to be amazing but i think a new chain or something has taken it on and its just gone downhill,the staff look like they have been dug up.

Had a change of venue last Sunday for breakfast with the family and went back here for a change . The staff seemed ok and the food was most enjoyable especially the sausages. On the down side the price of the tea is way to high . But will definitely try it again soon

We come here quite regularly on Sunday's. Can always find a sit even though most of them say reserved on the tables and we've eaten and gone before they turn up (most of the time). I love everything about the carverys. If anything is empty they do refill it pretty quick if you tell them. Not had any problems here at all. So will be continuing coming in the future. Can't beat a carvery on a sunday.

So we went to bartlewood lodge lastnite, things didnt get off to a good start as when mums nachos starter came it was stone cold somehow! They swapped it but took ages to change it, everyone else had eaten their starters. Then the ‘buzzer’ went off before mum had finished ! We went up to collect our burgers which in itself is a poor service, to find out there was no chips left in the serve yourself area! We told them they said it would be 5 minutes. We then went to complain... the manager in the end gave us our money back for the starters and a free round of drinks. But all in all this place is such a poor service and a weird way of doing things. I would AVOID!

£22 for 3 adult meals with drinks. Reasonable carvery, which we all had. Also serve burgers and pizza (neither of which we've tried). Quite a lot of seating, various areas including a conservatory like room. No atmosphere and little in the way of staff interaction.

Waited 45 minutes for a simple starter. When I asked the waitress where the starter was she walked off, wandered into the kitchen, then returned and walked past saying ‘in a minute’ overall staff were quite rude. When the starter came, it was pigs in blankets that was taken off the Carvery. So I was waiting 45 minutes for cold items that I could have got myself. Got to the Carvery and it was practically empty, no gravy, no mash, no potatoes, no VEG! and dirty everywhere. Was not just me complaining either as many people were getting irritated at the bad service and food. Just to add, everything was cold too.

Another Super Meal, Peter and his staff do well to cope with Sunday rush, we used to be able to walk in but now it has become so popular that booking is essential. Super food, super prices and great staff what more could you want.

Lovely Building in country setting. Plenty of different areas to sit either inside or out.

Just returned from holiday decide not to cook. So Bartlewood it is. Two carveries very good veg could have done with a stir looked dry. Like the bottomless coffee. Staff friendly and helpful will go again.

Blinking awful dried potatoes frozen veg and Yorkshire puddings meat was watery complete waste of a meal out

Food was very nice- lots of choice and tasted great. Just very disappointed with the staff, bar staff very rude. I waited ages at the bar and no ‘apology for the wait’ just seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The tables were dirty and nobody seemed to be cleaning up. Maybe short on staff but it has made me think twice about returning.

I had been recommended Bartlewood Lodge by a friend, so when we came to choosing somewhere to celebrate my mums birthday we deceived to give it a go. Upon our arrival there was only one member of staff serving behind the bar and we had to wait some considerable time before we got served. We had reserved a table and when we were shown to our seats it was right at the back of the restaurant, we were sat totally on our own so as you can imagine there was no atmosphere. We all ordered a carvery, they had a good selection of meat and vegetables but unfortunately it looked like it had all been sat there for some time. Nevertheless we helped ourselves and took our food back to our table, we all agreed the food was cold. My dad and I went to speak to a member of staff about our concerns, he got the Manager who tested the temperature of the food on our plates and in the serving trays. He agreed they were cold and offered to change them and do whatever he could to put It right. By this time unaware of what was being said my husband had continued eating his dinner and decided not to get a new plate of food, and because my mum is disabled it was too much of a struggle for her to keep getting up and down. Me and my dad had a fresh plate of food, but to be honest by the time it had been plated up and we walked to the back of the restaurant it was still cold. We didn't say anything this time as there didn't seem any point, we needed to make the best of a bad situation as after all it was to celebrate my mums birthday. We ordered our complimentary deserts and only when they arrived did they clear the plates from our dinner. Also once we had plated our dinner up we went to where we had seen the sauces out and they had been moved and were balanced around the salad bar. This was because they had started to clear up and prepare for the next day, bearing in mind that our table was booked for 7.30pm so it's not as if it was late. Surely they should do this when diners have finished their meal! Throughout the meal no one came and asked if everything was alright with our food. We were left feeling very disappointed at the quality of the food and service we received. I definitely will not be returning!

I visited on thursday and the carvery was outstanding, the best one i have ever had from bartlewood and its normally fantastic as it is. Food was so fresh and hot. Could not fault and do not understand why some people moan about the lunch carverys here as to me it was flawless

We ordered 2 standard carveries and a veggies carvery. We were not told of any delay in the nutroast arriving ( overheard other customers being advised of a 30 minute wait for pizzas).

We have used Bartlewood Lodge on many occasions for Sunday lunch as our regular with our children. We then found they did takeaway so we ordered a few weeks ago and it was beautiful and needed. although The large Yorkshire was a small instead of large order but nothing major...

I visited here with my Dad for a quick lunch. We both went for the standard carvery. These are £6.49 Mon-Sat and £8.99 on a Sunday.

Another good turkey carvery using my voucher. Turkey cooked properly with a good supply of fresh hot vegetables. Accompanied by a black coffee. Staff very friendly and helpful Will go again

Just paid extra for a large carvery which as it advertises "extra meat" only to get less meat than my daughters standard carvery. The beef was also very poor quality. Wont be coming again

Awful quality of meat and when complained the staff then talk about the customer “being an arse” to each other and in front of other customers!

A rare visit as have found it to be hit and miss over the years. I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely helpful staff and quality of food. The beef was fantastic, melted in the mouth! Will definitely be returning and recommending!

No management. Young staff lacked direction, motivation and interest and just wandered around aimlessly repeatedly cleaning the same empty tables. This was despite walking past our table several times and failing to observe the empty plates that needed clearing away. Waited for 45 minutes before finally asking him if he could clear away the plates please? Similar pattern with empty drinks glasses - although I only waited 15 minutes before asking if he would mind clearing away the empty glasses? He failed to notice the soiled paper napkin next to the glasses and I kindly asked if he could take that away as well please?

Visited bartlwood lodge spondon and to be honest thought the Carvery was very nice but my sons burger had a small bug crawling in it which I don’t know what it is but the photo has been sent off to identify what the insect is has on Sunday my son was sick.

Went with my wife for a meal. Past the smokers sheltering from the rain, just inside the main doors. The staff seem to treat you as a nuisance other than a customer. Its the same month after month, surely they must recognise the customers are waiting around. It's never been quick. There are plenty of them, just seem to use the place as a social event rather than a job. The food is ok, but don't ever ask for another slice of meat, they seem to regularly run out of food, do you stand around and wait fro spuds or just don't bother and fill up with cauliflower cheese. Sorry folks, no better.

Usually go here for a carvery as relatively good price and quality of food.

we went here the other night to celebrate what would have been my dads 70th birthday in his memory i booked in advance and asked for as quite a table as possible due to our youngest son being disabled/special needs and we ended up on a perfect table and the staff were great and very understanding and the meals and deserts were of very high quality

Haven’t been here for years but remembered the food was good so decided to pay a visit. Quite simply I shouldn’t have bothered, the food was unappetising, nearly cold and tasted weird. Whoever decided that queuing for a burger should be in the same place as queuing for a roast dinner wants their head looking at as it just doesn’t work. Go back to table service, the present method of queue, wait then queue again is ridiculous

Had a very disappointing visit to bartlewood Lodge Ockbrook Saturday 9th of March. Had told a friend how nice bartlewood Lodge was but they were a catalogue of events that took the shine off our evening first of all the order was taken and was incorrect several of us had accompaniments like chips and salad with our meals we had to collect our plates from from the pizza bar and then add are accompaniments these accompaniments were situated in the middle of the carvery and we had to push into the queue because if not our meals would go cold, at the salad bar there was very little left and the salad was very dry and unappetizing. We pointed out about the salad and received a very hard hearted response, when the fresh salad was prepared it was put on the counter in quite a rude manner and not put in the salad tray. We were unable to eat together as we were sent in different directions for items of food this caused a very stressful atmosphere. We then ordered desserts and one of the desserts they bought was incorrect and there was supposed to be a coffee served with this dessert but that was also forgotten and I had to go up to the bar to get it.

Not a bad meal but tables left untidy food debris underneath some of the staff looked fed up like they didn't want to be there

We went yesterday for my birthday meal. We really enjoyed the food. We had a carvery and it was delicious. Lots of choices to choose from and very tasty. We had dessert afterwards which had generous portions and was also very nice. I would definitely recommend this place and we will be visiting again.

3 of us went here for lunch ,first time for years . We were a little disappointed . My turkey & my sisters Ham lovely but veg & especially the roast potatoes very tasteless ,bland & pale. My husband had the Fish & chips & when he put a roasted onion on his plate with his fish was told by the very curt chef " you shouldn't have that " , but the onion was where all the rest of the veg etc was to help yourself . So after my husband told the chef he could & did give it back asked if he was okay to help himself to rest of the veg etc just in case he picked something else he couldn't have (all so petty over one roasted onion , didn't realise it was has precious as Saffron !!!!!!!!!! . We will not be returning !

Go to this place at least 3 times a year. Usually for the carvey however we have tried the pizzas too.The pizza deals are very good value during the week. The carvey is always very tasty and hot. Plenty of vegetables and lovely roast potatoes. Plus side is that vegetarians can have a meatfree carvey for a reduced price, The chips are not great but only tried them once. Never have room for pudding so can say anything about those either.

8 of us went for birthday lunch we all went for small carvery we go here regularly. I ne member of our party requested a larger plate which we have always done previously the chef was rather rude but did supply the plate reluctantly. The rest of us didn’t ask for larger plate due to

love bartlewood, great food all the time. love the carvery. Great selection of vegtable and potatoes, easy to order, not long to wait at all. you get quite a few peices of meat. you can choice more than one meat. they also have a range of sauces, including mint sauce and cranberry.

Nipped in dinner. Turkey carvery vegetables roasted whole small onions. Pint of Doombar. Just the job. Staff all helpful and friendly. Will go again.

Popped in a couple of weeks ago. Fancied a carvery. Very busy as most places are Sunday lunch time. Not too long a wait for the carvery. Roasties were very nice. Veg was well cooked. Nice choice.

Visited many times usually for a carvery, but this time was different... I ordered a starter of onion rings and a garlic bread pizza. the onion rings were fine, but the garlic bread pizza was luke warm.. felt like it had been sat.. we were then informed that we have to collect our meals from the pizza station when the buzzer goes off.. when i got there i was surprised to see nothing BUT a burger.. no fries or side salad. this i was told was '' help your self to side salad and fries'' WHAT A TERRIBLE IDEA THIS TURNED OUT TO BE. the fries are located in the carvery section so now i'm stuck in a que of people who want everything from the carvery i'm stud there holding a burger just wanting FRIES alone.. i get there guess what... NO FRIES. don't know where the staff went. No body serving at the front, it got so bad, a women was attempting to serve her own turkey !!! until her husband protested. and walked off. i waited, eventually some fries came, got some and went to sit and eat my meal.. perfectly cooked burger now COLD. I cannot see this as a good way to do things, receiving half your meal, and waiting for the other. Won't be doing this again. on top of that, the table in front had been left with all plates and glasses, and colouring books for 45 minutes after a family left, a new family arrived and cleared the table AND cleaned it themselves feeling angry that they pre-booked and couldn't find a large table without the crap on. WHERE IS THE STAFF?

The first time I’m visiting bartlewood lodge, and didn’t have a clue, ordered a burger and was advised to get salad and fries from the salad and veggie area, now if your a regular here, I’m sure you’d know where this is, as it’s my first visit I had to wonder around to find, staff didn’t seem keen to help out either, found eventually and the salad was ok. Maybe they should ask if you’ve visited here before?

Had lunch here today Monday 14th January 2019 having been here before in December 2017.

Was there today around 15:45. The food was lukewarm and the chefs conspicuous by their absence. In the future will vote with my feet!

Cannot find a better place to eat for the money. Nice place good food good prices and you can put on your plate as much as you would like.

A few years ago we had a meal here and it was awful with dried meat that felt like it had been under the hot lights for weeks, but decided to try it again today we arrived at 12.30 for lunch. We took my elderly parents for a treat and found it remarkably better. The furnishings seem to have been upgraded and cleaner. The staff were very polite and clean looking. We all had Carvery the turkey was cooked to perfection, the veg was tasty except my parents said the Brussels were not cooked and the gravy had many lumps. The table was cleared quickly once we had eaten. Overall we were very pleased with our visit and will not hesitate to return, may be try one of their Pizza's.

A party of 8 of us with children visited for Sunday lunch , lovely management, staff and food is fresh and hot

Came here for breakfast arrived at 8.29 the food was hot and very nice!! I think we came at the right time, as loads of people walked in at 9am! Charging for mushrooms is abit extreme I wouldn’t bother ordering them again! There left on the hot plate by time you’ve done your toast and got your food there Luke warm?! Not just that anyone can take them? It’s very strange practice!!! I think that needs to be looked st to be honest with you! They make there money off there drinks!!! I have been to loads of breakfasts and they don’t charge for mushrooms and they have more than one egg on offer???

Arrived at 1 pm after a long walk. We have been to this restaurant before on quite a few occasions but not for some time. Overall I don’t think it was as good as on previous visits. There was a short queue at the bar where we ordered Doombar and the carvery. We found a table but we noticed that a number of the tables had not been cleared after people had left. We chose turkey and beef. The helpings were ok but smaller than last time. The vegetables and potatoes were ok but only warm so not as enjoyable as they should have been. Overall we thought it was an ok meal and certainly good value for money. We may return but not for some time as there are better carveries on offer elsewhere. As a side note the restaurant seems to be branding itself as a pizzeria although most people seemed to go for the roast option. People on the next table had pizza and it certainly looked nice with a thin base. If we return we will probable give it a go.

Was recommended to visit for breakfast and was very pleasantly surprised. Full English breakfast was available with seconds if you could manage it and also refilled tea and coffee. Vegetarian sausages etc are available, just remember to ask on arrival.Pleasant surroundings, good family atmosphere, excellent value for money.

Went on the 7th for food about 7.30pm good choice of food still on offer for the carvery side vegetables looked fresh tasty meal all in all

You cannot beat this place for a good carvery. Choice of meat, plenty of veg. Reasonably priced. Well worth a visit

Big fan. Went today a 6.00. Another very good carvery all food well cooked and hot. I do enjoy the onions. Would have enjoyed a pudding but no room. All staff helpful and friendly. Will go again.

Came for a family meal last week and was very impressed with service and food. Food was piping hot, lots of choice and good quality meat. Will be returning again soon.

........because of reading other reviews. I was expecting miserable staff, a lot of flies, tough meat and dry vegetables and a long wait for a table.

We braved visiting a carvery for a Sunday lunch and everything went extremely well. We’d booked a table which worked out well for us. The carvery was delicious, with pork added to the usual choice of turkey, beef or gammon and everything was cooked to perfection. The meats were deliciously tender and because it was busy the vegetable selection which was varied was nice and fresh and hadn’t dried out under the hotlamps.

We came as a family on Monday night, we all had the carverys which were good the meat wasn’t dry and the roast potatoes were nice, it can be very hit and miss but on this occasion it was nice. The only thing that put me off was the flys I think something really needs to be done about that because you cannot eat your food without waving your arm every five minutes! Other than that we will be back!

Visited twice in the last couple of weeks, once for breakfast and once for carvery.

For those travelling on a shoestring or budget family holiday, this is a very chilled place to eat a hearty British Roast or Traditional British Pies. The beef was excellent and customers are served two very generous slices, as much Yorkshire pudding, roast and mashed potatoes, choice of four vegetables, and gravy as you can eat. All for 4pounds 70p per person, children's portions available., and desserts such as ice-creams (you are able to choose your own flavours etc), and other British puds cost extra, Child-friendly and good service in a country setting. The food was tasty and bountiful. Great stop for backpackers or those on a walking holiday, as well as families.

Visiting my mother-in-law and was told this is where four of us should go for a great lunch. Thought why not and made a reservation, no problem. Then the issues started as soon as we walked in the main door. No semblance of order, no front desk to take your name and seat you at your designated table. One of us had to make our way through the snake of a queue at the bar (opposite a similar queue at the food itself) to find someone that could seat us. This introduction to Bartlewood Lodge was mayhem. Finally someone came over to us and sat the two older women while my husband and I went to the aforementioned queue to order drinks and food, in order to then get in the food queue. We were about four from the front when some people decided to ignore people in the queue and proceed to the 2nd register, ignoring the process. As this happened, the bartender at the 2nd register ignored calls of protest and went ahead to serve the interloper. Bartender at our register then advised that customer and bartender that indeed there was only one queue for all, which resulted in a few words to others' amazement.
