The Old White Hart in Northampton

We booked the Purple room for a 21st party. The venue is conveniently located with a good size car park. The room is a good size and shape for a party with a seating alcove for those wanting to chat. We were allowed to place decorations around the room and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The buffet food was good quality and the staff set it out for us. Would thoroughly recommend this venue.

If you’re looking to have a party then I’d definitely go here, recently had my 30th and it was brilliant. I originally booked with the saints and they were awful and unorganised, the old white hart relieved all the anxiety for me and I couldn’t have had a better time. Staff were really accommodating and polite, food was great too. Thank you!

Prices are too high there is nothing special about this place the manageress and other staff are poor examples of bar staff. I cannot understand the good reviews here which are highly suspect when compared with the very poor reviews they continually receive on Google reviews.

This was a decent pub where I met a group of friends for drinks and a meal. I would say the drinks were on the expensive side (£2.20 for half a pint of lemonade if I recall correctly). The food was mostly in the range of around £10-£12 if I remember correctly for a main which I think is not necessarily cheap, but not outrageous for a pub main. The seating was comfortable the place was spacious enough to not feel overly crowded when a lot of tables were in use. The staff were friendly and helpful. Hot drinks including decaf was also available, and the menu included a couple veggie options - I would say it seemed suitable for vegetarians (unsure about vegans) but not great for people wanting more than 1 or 2 vegetarian options. Overall, I would return to this pub and generally recommend it.

Everything could be improved drastically. Not recommend for any occasion. Food was an utter waste of money.

Just goes to show that local can be best! What a fantastic meal. I had slow roast pork and my husband had the duck. Both meals were delicious and perfectly cooked with fresh vegetable sides. Will definitely be revisiting.

Food is very good and great service! Nice pub for eating, drinking and watching sports. They also have events, so keep an eye out for them!

Very expensive prices pub staff are poor including the manager situated in a grubby part of the town one of worse pubs I have visited would not return there..

The looks of this pub iv very nice, especially now that the weather is opening! I visited a couple of times in September, where I and my girlfriend had lunch over a glass of wine!

Came in for a bite at lunchtime and to try the new menu. Didn’t fancy the traditional Sunday roast so went for the prawns! Absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately they were so good I forgot to toe a picture before I finished then so I present you with an empty dish. Friendly staff and a safe clean environment

Sorry to say that our pork belly and ribs were a little more than average. The chorizo didn't work well with the cabbage. Maybe it was a busy night due to the 40% off. I always want to five this place 5 stars, but I must say id I'd paid full price id been very disappointed.

Have visited The Old White Hart twice recently for Sunday lunch. Fabulous food and excellent service. Great vegan and vegetarian options available.

The food and service was phenomenal the cheese and onion pie was so tasty and the steak was cooked to perfection, perfect portions and a great selection of beers we have already booked our next visit

Popped in for lunch and tried the pasta special! From the minute I entered it was clear how well organised and safe the place was. Staff were polite and direction was clear. Felt very safe and clean. The food was absolutely sensational and highly recommended. Kudos to all the staff, defo the kitchen ones! Great work to all involved! Ate food too quickly before I took a pic!

I wish we could give half stars on TripAdvisor!Ate here last night with friends. Our table was booked for 8 o’clock, however we were the only ones in the restaurant. They were obviously serving food in the bar, as we saw really appetising looking plates containing burgers, being served from the serving hatch.We ordered our drinks which, when they arrived, found my pink gin and tonic definitely didn’t taste like pink gin and tonic. The waitress assured me that that’s what it was but when my husband tasted it, he confirmed it tasted ‘funny’. The waitress wasn’t convinced until she then tried it and immediately ordered a replacement. I don’t know if maybe it was a different type of gin or whether there had been something wrong with it, but the replacement was fine. (I would’ve expected my word had been enough, especially as I told her this is a drink I have all the time, with the same gin and the same tonic... but there we are!!!)Although the menu is a little limited the dishes offered, were varied and very much to our liking. We decided on the two courses for £16, alternatively we could of had three courses for £21.50I was going to have the beer battered cod goujons with Lemon mayo which sounded lovely but they were served with calamari and whitebait, which I didn’t fancy.So for starters, two of us had chicken liver pâté with apple and brandy chutney and the other three ordered tandoori chicken skewers with Lemon and coriander cous cous. Both options were very good!We were told straightaway that we couldn’t order the fish and chips as they had run out of fish, which was a little disappointing for Friday night especially as the restaurant was empty and considering it was an already limited menu.However, we had been informed from the offset so, four of us decided on the striploin of beef, red wine and mushroom pie served with horseradish mash, thyme roasted carrots and red wine gravy. The pies had a rustic home-made appearance.I, On the other hand, had the seafood linguine described as “cod, mussels and prawns in a creamy white wine sauce served ‘on a bed of linguine’, served with house salad and garlic bread”, but to be more accurate there was a handful of mussels in their shells served on top, while the cod and prawns were mixed ‘in’ with the linguine. A little pedantic perhaps but I just want to give you an accurate description! Given the choice I would’ve liked a separate plate for my shells and I would’ve liked the offer of Parmesan cheese for my linguine, but had already had to get up from the table twice, once to chase my replacement drink and once because we’d had a spillage. The waitress was out of sight, as she was serving behind the bar. So, I decided I wasn’t bothered enough to wait. I’m very slow at eating and wanted to get on with my food before it got cold. I must say we couldn’t fault the food. We all pretty much cleared our plates.From where we were sitting in the dining room, we could hear some very loud people at the bar but after our meal, we still decided to go into the bar as there was not much atmosphere in the restaurant, being the only diners seated.After some time, the three noisy patrons to the side of us, who had been responsible for the raised voices we could hear earlier, became too much for us. So we decided to leave. The acoustics seem to amplify their voices which were already at a very high volume. They were sitting next to each other but seemed to need to shout which made it very difficult for a conversation within our group. Obviously this was no reflection of the Old White Hart itself, so I would give this restaurant the label of “Good“.I would say, the waitress was very good, despite the fact she doubted my word.We would definitely visit this restaurant again, and perhaps next time, try there vegetarian options.Unfortunately TripAdvisors rating goes; Three stars = average Four stars = very goodI would place them somewhere in between, given my comments above, but for the benefit of the doubt I’ve rated them four stars!

This place is a wee gem! We came on a Tuesday night for an event held at the pub. The menu had loads of good options including good veggie and vegan options. Also Monday to Thursday they have 50% off which is a steal. My partner ordered the chicken burger and I had the halloumi burger, both were delicious. I was worried the halloumi would be too salty but it was wonderful and tasty. Food came quick and the staff were lovely and it was a bargain but would have happily paid full price! Really lovely atmosphere in the pub and lots of comfy seats to settle into. The upstairs room for the event was also lovely and had plenty of room. I'll definitely be back!

Nice old pub/restaurant with rooms in desirable village. Some lovely old features- exposed stone walls variety of solid oak and old tiled floors, let down by springy laminate in bar area. Service friendly but a bit slow. Menu looks interesting with decent options without going mad with too many choices.

We booked the Old White Hart for our wedding breakfast and wedding reception. Suzy and the team were incredible in the run up and on the day. The food was brilliant and everyone commented on how great it was. Everyone had a great time and we would highly recommend using them for any major events you have planned.

Best place in Northampton friendly atmosphere brilliant staff and service and CAra is the best !!!!!!!

Been here a few times and while it's nice, the food can be a bit hit and miss. This time the food seemed to go down really well. We had a set menu and there was no choice for starters, it was just bread, meat and olives. As a veggie (that doesn't like olives) this kinda left me with just the bread so I asked the waitress to swap the meat for some cheese. She said this was fine but then nothing arrived. After we mentioned it to the waitress again, the kitchen had done me my own platter with a variety of cheeses and bread which was so goood. The main courses were Huge! I dont think anyone on our table could finish their plate, especially with alcohol flowing! The staff were so accommodating considering we got a little rowdy after all the prosecco and let us stay at our table for much longer than we should've done.

I met friends for lunch here and the food was delicious, we all had something different and all the meals were excellent and reasonably priced. Even though they had a function on upstairs we did not have to wait long at all.

We ate here based on Trip advisor feedback after visiting the NGH. Just what we needed, great service & food. Three different dishes selected all good. Would return if the need arose.

I went to this establishment as part of a large party booked for an evening meal which had been pre-ordered. The whole evening was chaos. People served the wrong dishes, people served what the pub though were the right dishes but they did not meet the title. Long waits and some folk didn't get both course. Many apologies from the management and a much reduced bill but the explanation that the first chef was away and the staff could not cope was a bit thin. Would I go back, unlikely.

My Wife, Daughter and I had a late Sunday lunch here. Normally they finish at 16.00 hours, but because they had not been too busy there was still food left on the carvery, and hence we were able to get a table at 16.30 without booking.

Came in for a drink but the draft ales were strangely off. However we persevered opting for bar meals and a designer lager. All good, helpful staff and smart decor - so what's the problem? Well it lacks ambiance, nicely decorated but with no curtains or pictures on the walls. Looks like the painter and decorator has just walked off, with no thought of softening the surroundings and making it feel relaxed, warm and comfortable. Maybe it's the minimalist approach. Pity really as it is local.

I have never had a bad meal here. Food was lovely and service excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone and prices more than reasonable.

We pre ordered for party of 20 but most found the food disappointing. Soggy batter on the fish, missing veg, inedible beef to give few examples. Of course we accepted a good reduction on the expected cost but really we did not enjoy our visit. Pity because previous meals had been god.

We had prebooked a table as part of a birthday celebration and I called ahead to see if they did anything for a birthday as I remember being asked this when I made the booking online but was told they don't do anything. Bit confusing that you're asked about it on the website then?

Recommended to us by a friend, and we were not disappointed. The staff were very helpful and chatty, really looked after us. The menu is smaller than many other places but the choice you have is still a tough one. So many “want to try” dishes, without even looking at the specials.

Visited here a few times and it seems to get a bit worse every time. I ordered the cod rarebit for £15. The cod was the smallest portion i have ever received and there was way too much cheese covering it, and with it i was given one single new potato!

I booked a table for 15 as a surprise leaving meal for my sister. We were seated in the lounge which was lovely and we were able to put some decorations up too! The food was great and we were all impressed with the efficiency of all the staff. Lovely evening had by all :)

Service great, Harley really looked after us. Food delicious and arrived with just the right time gaps between starter and mains. We really enjoyed our meal. This is well worth a visit. Plenty of parking too, good children's menus and very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food.

I really like the place - and have been 3 times recently whilst working on Northampton. Good choice of ales. The food is good - tasty, a cross between fine-dining and rustic - just nicely done. And good value. Would recommend.

I met with long time friends here for a Christmas meal. We had pre-booked our order. All three courses were well presented and delicious with nice lean meat. The service was excellent. as we were early they asked if we wanted to be served early and we were.

Our order took forever, and our waitress was not around after she took our order. The food was good, but that’s about it.

Had a fab work reunion at the Old White Hart, had the 3 course Christmas dinner which was lovely and the Christmas crackers went down well. The staff are friendly and professional and would recommend this venue to others.

Tina is the best!!! Came for brunch with a couple of friends. Tina absolutely smashed it! Was prompt with the drink, on it with the food and offered the veggie option (which I had stupidly failed to ask for). Great banter, great service, cracking food. If I’m ever back in Northampton, will definitely be back!!

Nothing lines your stomach for a big night out like a burger so I was looking forward to this steak, bacon cheese burger on my first visit to this pub restaurant. The menu was limited, service slow and burger a little disappointing, oh and I can’t stand chunky chips. Personal taste I know and other than that the place is nice enough,staff friendly and they have a huge gin selection.

I booked the OWH for a baby shower on a Saturday for the “Bottomless Brunch” - there was a group of 9 of us and due to the size of us we pre-booked our food from a great selection (it was hard to choose!!) everyone of us loved our choices! We even brought some decorations which they were happy with us to put up and decorate the table with. The prosecco was lovely and every time our bottle got low, we were given another before we even had to ask!! Absolutely faultless afternoon and would recommend it in a heart beat. Thanks OWH!

Popped in for lunch with some friends here. I had never been before so was pleasantly surprised by how fantastic the decor is. The menu is amazing, I really struggled with what to pick! I ended up going for a flatbread from the bar menu and it was delicious. The staff were really friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The only disappointment was that a member of our party wanted to take some of their leftovers with them and was told they couldn't due to 'health and safety'. I've never heard that from any other restaurants before it it was such a waste! A shame as it was an otherwise faultless visit!

It looks like an old fashioned pub from the outside but the inside it's all modern and fresh with an incredible bar sitting central in the room. There's a huge selection of drinks and the house wine is great.

Went to the Old White Hart for a meal on our anniversary as my wife had been there with a group of friends. So glad we did great food at reasonable prices. Staff were very friendly and made us welcome straight away - nothing was too much trouble. Had a lovely time in the courtyard behind the pub enjoying the final sunshine of the day. We will be back.

Visited as a wedding reception. Upstairs is small room but enough for disco area. Extremely hot even though had air conditioning. Area downstairs has large tv area and spacious bar. Food good quality. Parking minimal and awkward. Wouldn't know so close to town. Decor very clear and modern. Definitely worth another visit.

Great food and very classy interior however very mixed messages between members of staff and their website as to promotional offers. When I have had food, mostly good. Would recommend but don't expect to be able to use any offer you might of seen.

We were hungry and it seemed that everywhere (apart from fast food) was not serving at 4pm (which is fair enough). We approached the pub and it looked inviting so we thought we'd chance our arm and see if they were still serving food. It turned out that they were. The menu had a good choice - from mussels to pies to burgers and very reasonably priced. Unusually for us we both ordered the same - classic pub grub, burgers chips and onion rings. Washed down with a pint of real ale and a lemonade.

Whether you visit as a local for a pint or two, or go to The Great Knight Folk Club on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, a good time is guaranteed

I often walk the three mikes from my village ending up in the Old White Hart and take a most welcome pint (or two) of the Guinness. I am always met with a lovely welcoming to me, almost a feeling of coming home.

I recently enjoyed a vege burger at The Old White Hart.

I can’t even begin to say how gutted we were that we chose this place for a special occasion.

We held a surprise party in the function room which was fantastic. Staff were so helpful from assisting us with how much food to order, to helping us set up and even helping us with the surprise. Would highly recommend the function room even comes with a projector. Thanks Old White Hart!

A very awkward visit here after being stalked by staff after finding a seat. Ordered 2 pints of coke and was outraged to find the bill came to nearly £8. Won't be visiting again.

Second time here this time opting for the roast. We had beef and chicken both very nice and cooked perfectly. Portion size was smaller than other places and a bit skimpy on the veg. Disappointingly no brussels! Ok value £14 for beef and £12 for...

I was served tough as leather, clearly microwaved pre-carved beef for my Sunday lunch. Worth £15? Not even worth £1.50. The response to my complaint was that the waitress would have a word with the chef.

Visited at the weekend, early evening, with friends. We originally just popped in for a drink but as the food smelt good we decided to stay and eat. We choose Liver and Onions, Chicken and Bacon Pie and two of us had the Goats Cheese...

Met a friend here this afternoon, we ordered a shared platter for £15. Really dissapointed when it arrived it was a large board but looked a little bare. There was a huge chunk of cheese, two sausage rolls, a couple of pickled onions, some bread...

White Hart staff have always been lovely and accommodating, their sweet black pudding was a wonderful extra to my meal and the Mussels, well how they are presented and the amount we felt spoilt rotten, wonderful meal and service, thank you !

£5.00 for a bowl of wedges! Totally overpriced in my opinion. Don't get me wrong the 6 wedges were tasty and the service was pleasant but £5.00!!!!!! Menu is very random and appears to have lost sight of a target audience and style of food. Real shame. Roast dinners here are epic.

A lovely stylish pub with good space and seating. Finger food for the Afters party of a wedding was very tasty.

Metimos en una copa después de una comida en un restaurante indio. Mi primera visita y el interior tomó por sorpresa, ya me esperaba que fuera antiguo en vez de contemporáneo. Un montón de espacio entre las mesas. Las bebidas son más caros en el lado, especialmente para la elaboración local, y había Carlsberg sólo una opción amargo de barril. Sólo teníamos una bebida antes de seguir adelante, pero estaría encantado de volver.

Mi hija celebró su boda aquí, y fue el lugar perfecto. La comida era fantástica y la noche todo como estaba planeado. Todos disfrutamos mucho de sí mismos y el personal era muy amable y nos ayudó a hacer una velada encantadora.

Comí una ensalada queso feta aquí durante el fin de semana. Sobre una media docena de cubos pequeños de sosa Feta, unas aceitunas, una variedad de hojas mixtas aunque algunos hierbas degustación pero totalmente de imaginación. Dos horas más tarde estaba hambriento. Una gran decepción. Nuestros amigos dijeron sus comidas eran 'está bien, pero nada a destacar, y también hambre y tenían desiertos, pero eran muy pequeñas y nada memorable. . El pub no estaba muy concurrido, con muchos asientos y una habitación grande y bonita que estás neumático" y hablar de que era bueno. Muchas personas estaban fuera demasiado, así que el ambiente en general es bastante agradable y atento personal.

Hemos usado el lugar durante los últimos dos años para nuestro instituto y la habitación es preciosa. El servicio que he recibido ha sido excelente, el personal es servicial y amable y nada es demasiado problema. Lugar fantástico, gran servicio y la comida era fantástica.

La comida ha decrecido bajo nueva dirección.

The pub has two function rooms, one for 30/40 people, the other which we attended, will cater for over 100 people. Nice buffet, great room, the staff were very help getting us taxi at the end of the night. It as a good size bar, with a nice pint of midsummer Ale and a large outside seat area. Seams very popular with the locals which is a good sign.

El servicio que recibimos desde el momento en que reservamos era excelente. Nada era demasiado problema - incluso a ayudar a sorprender a mi marido cuando llegamos, gracias Gemma!

We had been told about the Old White Hart, it is a bit different. The inside was a very modernised 30's building. The menu is small but very filling and good. The staff were really nice and helpful. The top floor is a music venue, a folk club. After our meal we went upstairs and were entertained by a duo called Jenkinsons Folly who were excellent.A really good evening out!They have a good outside space with a large covered area for nice weather, I am sure very popular in the summer. Good parking too!

We visited the restaurant today after remembering that the old white hart served fantastic food and had exceptional service. However, this was not the case today. We were not greeted with a warm welcome and we sat in the bar area which was not a problem. After being told we would be given menus, we had to hunt someone down to ask for them after 10 minutes. The waitress seemed to have no idea about the restaurant. We were told mixed messages about whether there were or were not sandwiches sold. When we were finally given a "sandwich" menu, there was little choice - unlike on the website. When ordering, the waitress seemed very inexperienced and it was a struggle to order. The restaurant lacked any character and made a Saturday lunchtime feel extremely awkward. The food was okay, the grilled goats cheese sandwich was cold and not grilled. This is a real shame as the restaurant and pub used to have a superb atmosphere and feeling of sophistication.

Was here for a private quiz night, so maybe not a good example of a normal visit. However, good service, good choice of beers, good pizza and a pleasant environment. Certainly intending to go back as a normal customer.

Having been away for the weekend I thought I would treat myself to lunch at this place. Went for the Bedfordshire Bavette Steak and was not disappointed.Service was quick and staff politely and friendly.Food was beautiful and the steak cooked to perfection.Only gripe is that I couldn't finish off the chips as I was full up!Quality venue food and staff, will be back very soon

Visited this pub last night for the first time and really enjoyed it. Our waitress was very friendly and we were served quickly.We ordered 4 steak burgers, 1 bottle of wine and 4 pints and the bill came to just over £80. Our burgers were delicious, although the pancetta was a little closer to being burnt rather than crispy and the chips were huge!Would definitely visit again.

What has happened to the quality of food in this lovely pub. I have eaten here before and always been very impressed. In fact, we had a family meal here the night before my daughters wedding and it was brilliant. I remember a really interesting menu with a good variety of dishes on offer including venison steaks and sea bass. However I visited last week with a group of colleagues for lunch and the first disappointment was the fairly uninspiring menu. And it got worse when the food arrived. One of the party ordered a ciabatta which was burned. To be fair this was replaced. Another of the party ordered the superfood salad with salmon. The waitress returned to the table and said it would be smoked salmon and was that ok? The person ordering does not like smoked salmon so she asked if she could have a salmon fillet instead. She was told this was not possible which was strange as baked salmon was on the menu and two of our party ordered it so I fail to understand the difficulty of cooking another one and adding it to the salad. The final moan is that the salad had included avocado which needed to be cut with a steak knife as it was so unripe. On a positive note my sandwich was fine as were the rest of the meals but it's such a shame as we've always had good food at the Old White Hart. I'd like to think this was a temporary blip but unfortunately the damage may have already been done. Sorry to be so negative but I really was very disappointed on this occasion.

Just been to The Old White Hart with friends for a meal. Had a starter, main and even a dessert! Was amazed by the array of food within the menu! The food was great and the staff were extremely friendly, I will 100% be returning and I recommend everyone to visit this gem!

So I chose this place on the trip advisor score and food pictures and I'm afraid to say on this occasion I have been failed.The decor, seating and chairs are lovely and that apart from one other thing are the only positives I can note.The chap behind the bar finished his conversation with a colleague before coming to serve me and seemed quite reluctant to do even that.We then went over to let the ladies know we were there to eat and had pre-booked. We were advised to pick a table and it would be set up. 10 minutes later we got napkins and cutlery and was asked what we wanted to order. I asked for a menu and that I would decide after seeing it. A bad start and it just got worse from there. I won't list the issues as they are numerous and particularly disappointing but if you don't know what condiments you have, what you have run out of or what cut of meat your roast beef is made from its poor service from a 'gastropub'.My boyfriend, who is a Yorkshireman, said the Yorkshire puddings were exceptional but the rest of the dinner was poor. His beef was well done and mine was rare. How we like it actually but you would expect to be asked if there was that much difference. The veg was soggy and carrots wrinkled. Potatoes were nice but not crispy and the gravy was quite thin. I'm not usually so negative but combined with the really really poor service I feel quite aggrieved to have spent over £30.

Decided to try out the Pie & Pint night at this venue. What a great mid week treat this was. The food was fantastic, fresh and very tasty and great value.Staff were attentive and friendly and service was great!Brilliant value for money for fresh hearty food!Highly recommended for all food !I will be back!

Chose here for a Sunday lunch based on Trip Adviser. The staff gave a friendly welcome and got our drinks in good time but took a long time to take our food order.After ordering, I had to check where our starters were as it was a full hour after we arrived. They'd forgotten to put the order through to the kitchen.It was then a full 2 hours after arriving that we got our main courses. The food was okay, but my starter had hollandaise sauce so thick it was like jelly and my fish and chips had minted peas that were so dry and clumpy I couldn't touch them.To their credit, they were very apologetic and offered to waive the bill but it doesn't change the fact I wouldn't recommend the place if you're looking for any quality.

Stumbled across this place and I am glad I did! Trying to eat healthily while working away from home and staying in a hotel is very challenging. The menu is great and full of temptation, while the super salad is just that.Great staff. Great food. Reasonable prices. Will return!

Went the White heart for my birthday the meal was lovely we had the steak it melted in your mouth the two waitresses were lovely very friendly made us feel really welcome will definitely go there again

Great food, great service, great price! All in all, a fantastic restaurant. Definitely recommend! All of the food was delicious and cooked to perfection!

We booked our Christmas dinner here for 18 people. I like the pub, it has a nice ambiance and decor. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was good. The only issue was how many they were catering for on the night, it was perhaps just too many and led to a fractured service.

A group of us went to old white hart for our x mas meal and to add a little twist we were ex old staff (bar one who still works there) . It was a great evening and the food was really nice.The service was spot on and the staff welcoming. Have to admit, it was lovely to be waited ON for a change ☺.
