Greens Restaurant - Northampton in Northampton

I took my family out for Easter Sunday lunch which I’d booked weeks before and although the venue & staff were nice, the food was a joke. We ordered as advertised, Sunday Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding. The portions were small & there were no proper roast potatoes, and when we asked for our Yorkshire Puddings, we were told the Chef hadn’t got the time to make them, then also we were told they were short staffed, due to sickness. My Grandson had the advertised Roast Pork with cracking & stuffing. He’s came without the stuffing & we were told there was no crackling. We then had to ask for his stuffing & my daughters meal as this had still not been brought out. In the end all 8 of us had eaten the little food we had & my daughter still hadn’t had her food brought out to her. Instead of finishing our afternoon as expected, we had to go home & order Pizza & Desserts.

We visited in December for the first time in over a decade, and it's safe to say the quality of the food has taken a nose dive. Not one course served looked appetizing, and I would never return to eat here again. The Christmas party menu lunch looked like it was a microwave meal, and the dessert looked and tasted similarly ready made. Even the ice cream looked bright yellow and cheap. Disappointing and won't return. Perhaps they have changed their target audience.

Also had a table of 8 like last review. Same problem with food. Who serves up brown leg meat only for a Christmas sunday lunch. Poor chef and restaurant manager to consider this was excitable. If i had booked for xmas day meal i would have cancelled.

8 of us had A three course Sunday Lunch here the roast quality was very poor and the meat was suspect and of poor quality, the biggest issue was the turkey was all dark meat and tasted like pork, I complained along with other members of our party and was told it was leg meat? I didn’t believe that excuse and can only imagine the meat is all brought in prepared and so poor quality and they would not be unaware what they have other than what is said on the label, will not use again.

Have visited this establishment previously and fairly happy. Today at lunch very poor the man in attendance very pleasant but only half listening to the order, which came back wrong. The chicken salad tasteless, the brown bread sandwich came disguised as white! I just could not recommend this restaurant at all very disappointed.

Good food, lovely place for lunch or a special occasion.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at Greens. Really enjoy sitting watching the golfers whilst having a very enjoyable lunch. The starters were lovely, especially the scotch egg. I had pork belly, my husband had beef. Everything was well cooked, lots of it & really enjoyable. Staff were all courteous & were there to help. A very nice Sunday afternoon.

We went to the Asian Spice night, it was truly fantastic great food, well thought out and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Greeted with a cocktail and then 4 courses later we all left happy. The venue is great but it has to be said the atmosphere is better when the restaurant is full which it was. Themed nights are actually good fun you don't have to think about what you're ordering and Greens really put the effort in. The staff were very good, all round delighted.

Visited Greens restaurant with my husband & daughter-in-law. Drinks ordered straight away & menus given to us. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with added bonus of watching golfers attempting to hit the ball over the water to hole 18. Food was lovely, from the starter to pudding. There was an afternoon tea party taking place plus 5 tables in the restaurant....the staff are busy but all very pleasant & helpful For the price we paid..£20 for 3 courses it was great value. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Looking forward to returning

Very pleasant visit with family for Sunday lunch . Good food & service generous helpings especially with deserts,recent management change, new chef all trying hard to regain its reputation, which will be hopefully be successful, will return soon

We had a very pleasant Sunday Lunch overlooking the golf course. It was excellent value for money at a set price.

The Sunday lunch was lovely. The beef was very tender and cooked to perfection and was accompanied by a lovely selection of assorted vegetables, Yorkshire a d roast potatoes. Plenty of very tasty food and would definitely go back again.

Good experience, first time Sunday dining at Greens, Enjoyable experience, Sunday roast and fish alternative were excellent. However starters aren’t as good as weekday choice and no gluten free options for desert apart from fresh fruit was disappointing.

This was our third visit. Not as good as the first two. Starter was very sparse a tiny piece of smoked salmon looked lonely on the plate. Main course roast beef slightly tough but very tasty and plentiful. Potatoes just about OK other veg good specially broccoli cheese yorkshire puds smaller than before. Puddings quite acceptable. Could do with more choice of beer. Missed the cheerful lass who served us previously.

Been to Greens twice in the past two months. Rob and his staff were excellent on both occasions. Food was of a very good standard and service was excellent.

Greens is one of the best restaurants around for miles. The food is excellent reasonably priced and good service. What more could you ask for!

We went for an afternoon tea - a birthday treat for my mum. Booking on line was simple. We were greeted on arrival, and shown to a table with a great view overlooking the lake. The weather had been awful, so the golfers stayed away and it was very quiet in the dining room. We were promptly served with a lovely selection of sandwiches, scones, jam, cream and cakes - far more than we could manage, so the remaining cakes were offered to us to take home, which we did. There was a good selection of teas, served in. A good-sized teapot, with refills readily available. Service was great - it felt like nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend

Worst Roast ever. The gravy tasted sour. Vegetables did not seem fresh and were smelling. Big chunk of meat not reared properly and prsentation was ugly. Worst Sunday Roast for that price . Not recommending it for food.

Four of us went to Sunday lunch including a blind man, although only three choices on menu (changed weekly), the meal was very good, will go again.

We had Sunday lunch here a couple of weeks ago and the food was excellent, as was the service. We noticed the Valentine’s menu and decided to book. Again the food was marvellous and it was also great value. Most restaurants use Valentine’s night to put the prices up, but not Greens.

Took a couple of friends to lunch. I am celiac and was delighted to find that the restaurant had prepared a warm chicken salad with roasted vine tomatoes and a side of chips which was absolutely delicious. My husband and friends were also very happy with their food choices. We all decided on a dessert mainly sorbet or ice cream but again they had provided a gluten free brownie and ice cream for me - I felt very spoiled. The service was great and they had no problem with the fact that we spent rather longer there than normal as we all had a lot to talk about. Overall a very enjoyable time was had by all and we would definitely recommend to others.

I am genuinely disappointed to write this review. We visited for a Sunday lunch with the family. While the location and setting is great, the seating and tables are basic and a bit outdated. The starters were all very good. The main (beef) was really over cooked. The desserts were generous in portion but not very good apart from the pistachio ice cream which was lovely. The service: everyone was polite and tried hard but service was slow for drinks and food throughout. It felt like training and management direction was lacking. There were hardly any covers in the restaurant and from seeing other reviews on here the problem does seem to be with consistency. They are really missing out on the food quality and service, there is a real market for it in this area. The restaurant has such potential, there are very few choices in Northampton to go for a very good quality meal with excellent service combined.

Although we had the original booking reference made several days before and an email reminding us the day before of our upcoming table reservation, on arrival at Greens Restaurant, Collingtree Golf Club, Northampton on Monday 10th December 2018, we was told that the restaurant was being used for a private function. Greens Restaurant said they could not accommodate us or provide any food ....the "Assistant Food & Beverage Manager" Daniel, was very unsympathetic and quite rude and we are still awaiting a reply to an email/complaint we sent to Rob the Manager Three of my friends had travelled considerable miles to get to this location and we were all looking forward to our Xmas Lunch and get together. We are therefore very disappointed with Open Table booking facilities ..... your comments would be much appreciated

I just wanted to leave a review as a Thank You to Daniel and the Team for helping me throw such a great party for my husband this weekend! From the original booking through to the actual party day itself Daniel was so helpful and accommodating! The room and disco was fab as was the food! Many guests have commented on how lovely it all was! Many thanks again and we will be back!

So, the reason we were there today is because when we turned up for our original booking earlier in the year , they had somehow booked us in for the wrong day . They couldn’t accommodate us and gave us a bottle of fizz and rebooked for today . So we arrived today - we are shown to our table and we wait ... finally a waiter comes over with the tea selection,we ask a question about the tea but he doesn’t know the answer . We say we would like the wine menu and so we wait again .... Sandwiches arrive , one of our party is allergic to pork and cheese . This was stated ahead of the visit . Our selection was cheese and ham , tuna mayo and cheese !! When we restated the requirement for no pork or cheese the manager said they could make chicken, but actually had no chicken when he went into the kitchen . He then offered beef sandwich as they were serving beef as part of the Sunday lunch . The beef sandwich arrived stone cold between two slices of white frozen bread. The manager apologised but offered no compensation. In short the selection was poor, bread dry and cakes uninspiring. Absolutely will not return !

Good quality food, waiters need a bit more training.

We have just celebrated my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary this afternoon at Greens, 71 people for Sunday lunch. All the staff could not have been more helpful and the food was fabulous. Everything ran smoothly with the help of the restaurant manager who is so accommodating. Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon , we will definitely recommend Greens to anyone.

We had a lovely midweek family lunch here. The menu had a good choice and the food served hot and tasty. There was an excellent value children’s menu too. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were not rushed at all. The views across the golf course are an added bonus.

The service level was very good - the young men that served us where attentive & helpful. It was a meal to celebrate a 98th birthday but was marred by the fact that one person wanted the duck & was told it was not available - the Teriyaki prawns that three ordered was very dry & 1 person only had one prawn - another had four & the third had five - one person wanted lemon pie and was told unavailable - on a Tuesday service when it was on a Tuesday to Friday menu - we found the food very disappointing - so sadly we will not be back which is a shame as it is convenient to the Collingtree Care Home.

Have been to Greens many times over the years. Having been very good they dipped a bit but pleased to say they are back to providing good tasty food at reasonable prices. Only gripe- without air con it was very hot! Otherwise recommended

Booked on line same day. When arrived not on list. Manager fitted us in with no problems. Overall service very good. Venue great, lovely scenery. Food very good, love vegetables, would have eaten more but there was ample for 2.

Food not cooked very well. Service very poor. Waiting over hour for main course. Long delays between each course. Coffee brought to table in cups no saucers. After 2 and half hours some of our party left and did not bother with coffee. Cups are normally on the table together with pots of coffee or tea to serve themselves. Staff obviously not trained to serve customers, orders forgotten. A disaster.

Greens is a great venue for a Wedding or special occasion. They have very good food and a beautiful venue over the well maintained golf course and surrounding countryside.

I had been recommended by other people but sadly I would not go again. I booked for lunch for a friends birthday and on arrival we were told we would be only diners and were given a table by window overlooking the green. Whilst the waitress was very friendly and attentive sadly the food was average and not worth the price charged and obviously there was no atmosphere. So a long awaited visit was actually a waste of money.

So disappointed with our first visit. Our drinks arrived with plenty of it dribbling down the glass including the red wine, the window was open making the room very cold and the non beef gravy was the most unusual yellow colour. The lamb was incredibly tough and all the veg and potatoes had clearly been kept warm too long. They did offer to remake the dishes which was appreciated, however it of course couldn’t be fresh with it being a roast so we declined. Advertised as the best roast in Northampton...we would definitely disagree. Have had much better and will not be returning.

Visited as wedding guest. I have to say that the event was fantastic. From meet and greet to the speeches, the staff were attentive, hard working and made everyone welcome. The three course meal could not be faulted. Well presented, well cooked and tasty. In my opinion any couple wishing to use this location for their wedding and reception or just reception would not be disappointed. Well done to everyone.

We held our daughter's 21st birthday at this venue on the weekend and I cannot praise all of the staff enough! From the first time of walking in to meet the manager Tom to view, I was given the best attention to the very last minute we left after the party! Nothing was too much trouble and they answered every single question I had - and I had plenty and were given all the help we could possibly need!

We visited as a party of 8 with three generations for lunch to celebrate an 85th birthday. The food was good, as were the prices, and we had no complaints about this. However, the occasion was spoilt by a number of issues, all of which could be fixed easily by management, so hopefully they will read this.

Firstly I must say the ambiance and service was absolutely fabulous from the front of house staff.

Come to greens for Sunday lunch as part off a big group group with family friends and some children the menu was very good with lots off choice for the kids and the the food looked and tasted great,the waiting staff was very helpfully and attentive to all are need especially the man who seemed to be the manger (the one with semi grey hair)

My Son and DIL came to visit and I booked a table at Greens. Not the first time we have eaten there. The food and service was excellent, I thought he beer prices were rather expensive, but you get wha you pay for. So I can't complain.

Very attentive staff, made to feel very welcome from the minute we arrived. The overall atmosphere was fantastic with a live singer who was superb. Food was of a very high quality. On leaving staff had time to talk to us asking how everything was, will DEFINITELY be visiting again in the near future.

Good value and always enjoy the food; but, in winter, lacks a little warmth in décor. Great for a family. Excellent parking.

Looking to join local golf club, as new to area. Had lunch at greens. Soup carrot & coriander excellent. Mains ham egg chips good. Desserts chocolate brownie & ice cream good as was creme brûlée & Ginger biscuits. Main of chips & salad consisting of just lettuce needs improvement as full charge made.

15 of us decided to hold our annual Christmas lunch at Greens restaurant, our decision was based on our individual experiences on earlier experiences of this restaurant. However we were all sadly disappointed not to say surprised. Our collective decision was to rate the meal as canteen standard. The main meals were served fully plated and bland looking. I observed everybody failed to eat the potatoes in their skins or the carrots. Based on our earlier experiences at this restaurant we expected the Christmas pudding to resemble an individual pudding and not a slice as provided. It is only fair to acknowledge the friendliness and professionalism of the staff who went out of their way to be helpful. All 15 members of the group will not be visiting this restaurant unless they return to their previous high standard. As a foot note the coffee was also served directly in the cups and was considered to be instant. All in all a forgettable experience.

Small portions, lots of things overlooked

My three friends and I visited your restaurant yesterday for lunch. On arrival we were most surprised to find a very long table full of trophies looking us in the eye. None of the tables had been set for lunch and the whole restaurant looked very sparse. There were only two other guests and we assumed they were golfers sitting at the other end of the restaurant. The waitress asked us to wait until the table had been set and then produced two very crumbled up menus for us to choose from. She apologised for this and informed us she couldn't find any others as the Christmas menus would be out next week. Whilst sitting having our lunch a gentleman appeared with two lovely boxes of plants who informed us they were for the ladies in the evening and we could on,y assume it was a presentation evening for the golfers. The food was only average and my friends chicken was over cooked. I have to say it was a very disappointing lunch and perhaps you were more concerned about the evening function than your lunchtime guests. We have visited your restaurant on several occasions and sincerely hope that when one of my friends and also my husband visit for their Christmas lunch everything will have greatly improved.

I was very disappoint with the afternoon teas l am still waiting for our complimentary voucher.

I booked a table for my partners birthday treat having seen the adverts for Best Sunday roast in Northampton. However, in my experience, it was far from it! The whole meal was only like warm, no roast potatoes at all, only new, the Yorkshire’s were child size full of gravy which makes them soggy. The lemon sponge had a huge lump of mint dumped on top of the custard and the sponge was not spongy kind of hard and again only warm. We ate our meal, didn’t complain, as out for a birthday treat and also not our style, yet won’t be returning or recommending ! Shame, as the setting is lovely overlooking the 18th. Thanks for the chance to give our opinion.

This was the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. Waited ages between starter and main course, main course was cold and had to send back. The only roast dinner i have had without roast potatoes! The Manageress was very apologetic and said that they had an agency chef on that day. She did remove the starters from the bill but still very disappointing as sign on the A45 said it was “the best Sunday roast in Northampton”

Went there for Sunday lunch a treat from my Mum. Didn't turn out to be much of a treat, the main course was cold, even the gravy. So we decided to have dessert to cheer ourselves up and ordered lemon curd sponge pudding. What a disappointment, the pudding was more of the consistency of an un-risen Yorkshire pudding. Had to console ourselves with a coffee and cake at Costa!

Sadly did not live up to previous visits, main course was cold and the dessert stodgy to the point of being inedible. We will go again and if it has not improved will not return. Certainly glad it was only 2 of us there and not the whole family

Went with my wife. Starters were disappointing- prawn cocktail was very small portion. Pate was not that nice. 2 roasts for mains- roast potatoes were leathery on the outside and mush in the middle, veg had been around for quite a while.<br />Pudding order was wrong and jam sponge was cold. Won&#039;t be back.<br />Very disappointed.

The live entertainment is at a volume which makes conversation difficult.

He visitado este restaurante hoy con 80 miembros de nuestro grupo de la tercera edad. Todo era fantástico de principio a fin. Tuve el jamón Hock para empezar que estaba bien presentado y delicioso. Mi principal fue lomo de bacalao con gambas, patatas y verduras, todo cocinado a la perfección. Mi postre fue Jerez Casablaca seguido de café y Misa del gallo tartas. No me puedo quejar de nada en absoluto sobre la comida o el servicio recibido. Bien hecho a todo el personal!

Venía de un bocadillo después de un 18 hoyos, no era demasiado impresionado. La comida era normal en el mejor de los casos, el servicio era bueno y la decoración de viejo y desgastado. Una mejor selección de platos principales sería una gran mejora, así como la gama de cervezas de barril.

I have never felt more ripped off than I have paying for 'food' here.... absolutely overpriced, low quality Sunday lunch. Probably one of the worst I've had. Atmosphere was non existent. Decor was terrible. Avoid

Hi.Generally never complain about restaurants. However this meal took too long. We were there over 2 hours in total. The Yorkshire pudding my sister had to cut through my parents as to hard/over cooked. The potatoes were over cooked. This is the 3rd time been here and probably the last. Other issues were there is a picture in the men's toilet close to the urinal with splattering's of you know what on it ( this should be clean ). The décor is very tired through out and pictures not straight on the staircase. In my opinion this restaurant has lost standard we are used to.

This restaurant is upstairs with beautiful views acros the golf course. I have dined here several times and the food is always beautifully presented. There is normally a choice of about 6 main courses. Something for all tastes and always a vegetarian option. The staff are polite and attentive and food is served efficiently. In fact I am looking forward to my next visit

Good basic food with a reasonable range of dishes. Nice room with tables not too close together. Some drinks were a bit overpriced and they could not do a decaf latte. Food is good value for money.

Visited again after about 9 years and looked forward to good food and service as it had been previously. Went for Sunday lunch and ordered the roasts which were terrible. The meat was grey, hard and overcooked and the vegetables were almost none existent; the Yorkshire pudding was the only item that was cooked properly. Considering that this restaurant is on a prestigious golf course surrounded by expensive houses one would have thought that this restaurant would have been kept to its previous high standards especially with the captive audience so nearby.

The atmosphere was good, although there were not many diners. The waitress was on her own and her welcome was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was well set-up, the menu good; the food well-presented. The evening was enjoyable.<br />(We have had events in the restaurant to celebrate &quot;occasions&quot; in the past five years - and these have been organised and presented in a first class manner.<br /><br />Thank You.

We were a bit apprehensive about trying this as they never answer the phone! However we did book online which worked well. The overall impression is a good one, we were greeted warmly both at the entrance and by the waitress. The restaurant is upstairs with great views of the 18th hole. The room is very modern and the food was in fact very good. Served quickly and hot with a good presentation, it tasted fine. Some tiny hiccups with missing veg and the ham strips in the fig salad were tough but ok overall. Good service here., and very friendly.

The last time I used Greens many years ago they were set up as a fine dining venue. This has changed considerably but the decor and ambience remains at a high standard. The menu is now much more &quot;middle of the road&quot; but very varied and good for all tastes.<br />Prices are reasonable, we paid £36pp for a 2 course meal inc. a bottle of wine between 4 of us.<br />The only down side was that we all ordered an Irish Coffee, and none of them were drinkable. I am not sure what ingredients they used but the waitress did not seem surprised when we sent them back, and she deducted them from the bill without us asking. We were unsure if this was good service or an admission of guilt!<br />All in all I would recommend Greens, especially if you get a window seat overlooking the beautiful Collingtree golf course.

Usually what makes this place is the lady waitress (Greek Lady) however she wants there. Service was ok but the good was very poor. Luke warm, little of it, over cooked and lacked flavour. My husband's crumble topping needed a sledge hammer to break it.

The food is excellent and so is the service. Combined with a lovely view from the restaurant what more do you need.
