quite disappointing that they didn’t have a nut roast and that their roast potatoes were all cooked in beef fat as i would have loved a sunday roast. but the food was absolutely delicious and will definitely be coming back in the future! :)

my wife and i went for a meal here to celebrate her birthday belatedly.The food was absloutely superb perfectly cooked and so tasty.We are used to eating out quite regular and so glad we chose this pub restaurant.The staff were very attentive and efficient too. Thanks for a great evening we will be returning soon .

Went in tonight after a stressful day at work and though the place was busy, the atmosphere was amazing. Happy all around, the service was quick and I tried the veg ribs and curly fries on the menu. Went out of my comfort zone and was not disappointed. Service by Yvonne, Liam and another girl (I didn't catch her name) was amazing at 7 pm tonight. Compliments to the chefs and serving staff!

We were surprised with the lack of flavour of our food. I had sausage and mash which was only made palatable by the gravy. My partner had gammon steak which was nice but not noticeably tasty. The table had a blocked salt dish and no sauces, we had to ask for cutlery. This was not our first visit, and prior to this the food has been outstanding.

We were out at birkinshaw estate and came across this restaurant/ pub,first time visit would recommend food was excellent and the service 👌 as it was our first visit everything was explained girl was really helpful all in all a lovely experience,and it has a lively feel good atmosphere relaxing,we will visit again.

Alright for a quick bite to eat. Food was actually nice and came out pretty quick! We hadn’t booked and despite place being pretty dead, got placed at a table near the bar. I could see other ones were reserved however the place was 80% empty. Table wasn’t clean and I had to ask for cutlery. When the guy put the tin down there wasn’t enough plus it fell over as he walked away as the little containers can’t take the weight of the Curley but he didn’t bother 🫣 the shouting and sweating from the pub section just through a door at the bar bellowed through as we ate which wasn’t great as we had two hound kids. Prices were really good but it’s order at the table etc which I find annoying.

Found the pub on TripAdvisor after a visit to Belton House. So glad we did! Beautiful lunch, fresh ingredients and very tasty! Lovely staff and a fabulous spot in the garden in the sunshine. I wish there were more places like this!

We have dine in the windmill on many occasions, and had no problem with the food. And sorry don't know if a different chef on the weekend, but the food was really bad. The chips were over cooked as was the burgers which were cold. Did not want to complain as it was my daughter's birthday. Really disappointed.

We have been here 3 times during our visit to Redmile. We had an incredible burger our first night here, then a wonderful Sunday roast, and finally a yummy fish and chips this week. Great staff, great food. Worth multiple visits.

We were visiting friends who booked The Windmill for Sunday lunch and it was amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive, the vibe was rustic yet modern and the food was superb. We opted for the roast chicken which was beautifully presented with mashed root vegetables and other garden vegetables served on the side. The roast chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Dessert was an easy option; the elderflower panna cotta. It was served with strawberries, crushed shortbread and strawberry ice cream. The presentation was lovely. The panna cotta was delicious with the right balance of elderflower and smoothness. When visiting friends again we’d certainly visit, it’s well worth a visit.

The Windmill is known for appearing in the TV series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and like what the lads experienced in the series is like what I experienced when I visited the windmill in early May. Hostile locals and an unfriendly welcome. I walked in and immediately told to leave the bar. An easy mistake to make given on the left side it looks like drinks can be served. So, you get told to leave the bar and walk round to the right side where those not eating can be served drinks. A friendly response would have been appropriate. But no, that is too much to ask at The Windmill. What struck me as odd is how empty the pub is. This was a bank holiday weekend. Why so empty? Those eating were outside. The reason I later discovered is the locals. They don’t like outsiders. One guy there gives you such unwelcome stare with a barking dog that it empties the pub. The atmosphere in there is extremity unfriendly to anyone from outside the village. The local with the dog blames you for his dog barking at you. Trying to make a scene in the public drinking area. Supported by staff and other locals. Word of advice. If you are out driving around Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire and want to stop off for a drink. Give the The Windmill at Redmile a miss. Drive on to the next village.

Out of 5 orders we were told that the Mexican burger was unavailable, there was no rice, there were no beef ribs and there was no salads which meant that only 1 meal request could be fulfilled. I question the fact that you had have run out of rice as it not a perishable until cooked and at worst an employee could have gone across the road to the local supermarket and bought rice. We left without eating

Good honest pub food can't fault it

Went very early evening for a one drink experience to see if this was going to be a pub we would use in the future. We entered via the “lounge” entrance, sat at a table with no Reserved indication and was prompted told to go to the public bar as that table was Reserved for early diners??? As three Pensioners, it was not an attitude we particularly welcomed nor found necessary. Sadly the diners had not arrived as we left (were they no-shows we wondered 🤔) . Anyway an experience not to be repeated…..

This place is amazing! Where to start, it’s charming, quirky, warm and welcoming. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. We went as a group of 7 and all our meals were lovely. I was so pleased to find vegan options on the menu and my burger was one of the best I’ve had. I would definitely recommend this fantastic village pub to anyone. The prices are so good for the quality of food you get. Thank you for a brilliant evening.

We are extremely fortunate as we live in Redmile and therefore eat in The Windmill regularly because it’s a fantastic pub and restaurant. We go most weeks for Sunday lunch and the food is always excellent - and in particular the roast beef. The menu changes monthly but the ‘favourites’ are always there so nobody can be disappointed. Mark and all the staff in the kitchen prepare and cook all meals with great attention to detail and the outcome is brilliant food and flavours. The bar and serving staff are always welcoming, helpful and friendly so we just keep going back! We honestly feel so lucky to have The Windmill as our village pub!

Once again we recently had a fabulous meal at The Windmill Inn, and the food was delicious and freshly prepared as usual. We have a few pubs which we visit for food, and The Windmill is by far our favourite - the best in the area in our opinion. Mark and his brigade can be seen preparing your food, and they aim for high standards - the good news is that they consistently succeed. Keep up the good work! We'll be back!

We've been coming to The Windmill for several years and we have never had a bad experience. We've brought friends and family at different times and all of them are impressed with the quality of food and the staff there. It's not going to ever have a huge selection of food, as everything is cooked from scratch and fresh. The menu however always changes each month and what ever is on the menu, just works so well. I have had to try some food stuff that I had never had previously, but it just works out each time. We will keep coming back to this little gem of a place.

Very let down by our Christmas Day meal. The veg was overcooked and the roast potatoes where rock hard but the ribs where perfect. Most of the staff were super friendly,they also had no pigs in blankets.

The meals here have improved. We had Mac cheese and beef lasagne as part of their two meals for £11. Great value, and tasty food. Shared an Eton mess too.

The quality of food is great and not only are the staff polite and helpful the waiting time for food is on point. I’d definitely recommend the windmill to my family and friends whenever they ask if theres a relaxed place and atmosphere to get a good munch!

Allow customers to use more than one discount code at a time. I had £5 off and because we had meals from the 2 for £11 group the cost went up to the full value price of both meals and then the £5 came off. We also had a bottle of wine so the value for the discount was high enough.

The best Sunday roast I’ve ever had out!! The roast beef was Devine! Staff were friendly and helpful, the pub was lovely and had a great atmosphere…..even the toilets were clean and I saw them being checked! The only negative is that we’re here on holiday and live too far away to come here more!

Visited recently for the first time for lunch with my family and will definitely be back. Food was superb with lovely flavours and great quality ingredients. It has a nice atmosphere also. I ordered the chicken fajitas for my main and also chips as I wasn’t sure there’d be enough but was left stuffed and couldn’t eat it all. When I was there they had a pay £1 for a child which is a great deal especially as it went on till I’m sure 6pm. There is also live music and a quiz on certain nights. Can’t wait to come back.

Popped in for lunch, reasonable prices and menu, service very good with friendly staff. This is the first time we have been there. Would return again in the future.

A couple of little things let it down from a 5 to a 3 tonight, plenty of parking so we're off to a good start but the front entrance could do with an annual clean. Old style ordering where the serving person only delivers your food but you have to order it and drinks at the bar and pay up front. Electronic scanning wasn't working so paying by Groupon became slightly harder, made worse by the fact you can only redeem one voucher at a time. Couple of things on the menu weren't available but nowadays that's no big deal. The food value was up there with anywhere else. The drinks value not so good and if you want a spirit with lemonade instead of sofa water you not only lose the soda water but pay more for the lemonade in its place. The staff also weren't really familiar with the drinks orders or how to make them but we got there in the end, I think. The food and drinks quality were absolutely fine, my Rump was a bit tough but that's Rump for you. The atmosphere was only let down by the inside temperature, being really hot outside it was boiling inside. Outside sitting area needs some attention too. To finish, this place could easily be so much better for all who visit. I'd go back but not in a hurry.

We hadn't visited The Windmill for some time - no particular reason... but we have been missing out on arguably the best food food in the area! We both had the twice baked cheese souffle starter, which was delicious! My wife opted for the slow roasted pork belly - which she thoroughly enjoyed - and I had the famed Windmill Burger, which was excellent as always. We had no room for desserts! We recommend anyone who hasn't tried The Windmill to do so... it's superb.

The experience was great on all levels. Value for money. Quality of food and drinks. My only negative was that I was unable to login to my account whilst in the restaurant? Obviously that meant I couldn't collect rewards etc.

The food was well cooked, portions ample for a lunch. The variety of options was generally great, however the choices for the 2 vegan members of the party were limited. One party member stated their stake was a bit tough, but otherwise I would have no hesitation in coming back for a meal the next time I was in Tannochside ... especially for the fish and chips, which made me regret my decision on having tge Burger stack - which I thoroughly enjoyed..

Staying nearby and were recommended The Windmill. Busy on Friday night but they managed to fit us in. Delicious vegetarian burger & perfect fries, decent sized fish & chips and some excellent cask ales. Just sad I didn't leave room for dessert

Went today for the first time... With friends who live nearby, lovely setting, nice decor, set price lunch of three courses, every dish we had beautifully presented, tasty and thoroughly enjoyable.... Friendly staff... 10/10
