We visited as a last minute booking for 2 families totalling 22 people the day after our daughters wedding. The owners and staff were very accommodating and friendly and put on Sunday lunch for us with only 2 days notice. Both mains and desserts were good ( a choice of chicken or beef for main course) and everyone was very happy with their meal. The facilities are great for all ages with a games and toys room and a play area with a swing, slide and climbing frame in the garden which our children enjoyed. We popped in for a drink on our wedding day between the ceremony and reception and it was one of our favourite parts of the day. They accommodated a large booking at short notice for our family to have Sunday lunch the following day and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was great and the staff and owners just lovely. We’ll certainly be back!

Visited this pub recently and had a mixed experience. The beer selection is lovely, and the food, though requiring a bit of a wait, is quite good. The pub itself is spacious with an amazing beer garden that adds to the charm.However, the atmosphere can be quite frustrating. The upper-class clientele often seem oblivious to their surroundings, frequently blocking pathways and talking at obnoxiously high volumes as if they were across a football field instead of just a couple of feet away. It's as if basic manners are beneath them.Additionally, their unsupervised children run wild, throwing stones and being a general nuisance while their parents leisurely sip their merlot and half-heartedly call out names like Oliver, Penelope, Sebastian, and Arabella. It's as if parenting is an afterthought.Overall, it's a nice spot with good offerings, but the overall experience is marred by the arrogant and inconsiderate behavior of some of the patrons.

We visited as a group of seven for a family birthday celebration. Nice menu. Good quality, tasty food. We’ll be back and are happy to recommend.

After a tough 10 mile walk this place was a welcome beacon to head to. The food was really tasty (I had their "Gringo" lasagne) and the atmosphere was pleasant. Not too loud music, books to read, games to play and lovely staff. As I understand it's been under new management since November which has helped breathe life back into a village pub. If in the area or staying in Hose then make sure you visit this pub. We shall definitely return when we come again to visit family.

Quick Sunday lunch out on our way home, wish we could have stayed a bit longer. Really welcoming landlord and landlady. They haven't been there long and are clearly committed to providing an excellent customer experience. My wife, daughter (13) and I all had the chicken (wrapped in bacon with stuffing in the middle) roast dinner. Service was quick and the food was great, and plenty of it. I had a pint of pale ale that was very nice. I was surprised how low the bill was, could easily charge more for the food. Proper friendly country pub. We live close by but hadn't been for a few years, but will certainly be back.

We used to like coming here, until some friends of ours were charged for tap water as part of their Sunday lunch. The Landlady, by all accounts, was adamant that the water should be paid for. We won’t be visiting again. Shame.

Mean servings of a simple straightforward meal. We queried the size of the meal when it was presented to us, especially the chips. Broken little bits which would sit in the palm of my hand. The waitress took our complaint to the kitchen and came back saying this was the correct size portion of chips and the reason for being so small was that scampi was expensive to buy!! May we suggest you increase your prices? Went away hungry….

What an excellent Sunday roast we all had. There were Seven of us coming from as f Ar as Southampton, London and As near as Bingham. And thanks to the 3 girls that served us they made the family most welcome. 😊

I went to this pub for a Sunday lunch on Sunday. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this pub for Sunday lunches.

Family visit, from beginning to end just awful. Table not set for correct people booked and had to squeeze into an already overly packed room, re set for the missing people was never corrected. After waiting 20 mins requested menus, after waiting another 20 mins requested order to be taken. 30 mins later, 2 starters arrived. 1 hour and 15 mins later no dinner arrived, hungry and tired of such a long wait, we all had arrangements post dinner we had to leave and just asked to pay for what we had. Bill came with alcohol on, which non of us had had (as paid individually at the bar) no apology, no let’s make this up to you, nothing.. truly gutted as booked this a month in advance for a special occasion and lack of care, detail and experience was very evident for a new ownership that clearly wanted to pack as many punters in for multiple settings rather than quality over quantity.

Stayed there through brit stops in the campervan food a little pricey but we parked over night free.

First time visiting this beautiful country pub for Sunday lunch. Beautiful roast chicken dinner and the most amazing Easter pudding. Staff friendly and great choice of Gins and Wines. Defo recommend a visit to this little gem.

Came for a meal easter Sunday, had a lovley meal with 12 of us, food was excellent when asked for a fussy child they where more than happy to help, had beef was really tender 😋 Bar staff friendly and helpful, serving staff was excellent and helped the children with the egg hunt Will defo be back again!! beer garden awesome

Was in the area for a visit and booked for Easter Sunday lunch. Food was excellent and staff couldn’t go out of the way enough to help us. Came back later for drinks and desert and the chef opened up the kitchen especially for us. Amazing place and will visit again

Visited on Friday 1st April at around 2pm with my partner and 5 month old son. It was quite and we had the pick of the tables. Sat next to a nice log fire which was perfect on such a cold day. The food was excellent as was the lady that served us. Nothing too much trouble. Would seriously recommend.

Service was very slow. 3 hours for 2 courses.

They don’t cater for vegans or plant based eaters without 48 hours notice minimum. Contacted them as wanted to pop in one day for lunch but as their menu doesn’t have a vegan option I wanted to check I could eat there. Reply received saying they would need 48 hours notice. What a shame they don’t even have one option for each course for vegans / plant based eaters to just pop in. I replied stating this, and their reply was that this is how they choose to run their pub. Shame in this day and age they don’t cater for everyone, I mean plant based is very common nowadays and I can’t think of many places that don’t have a plant based option on their menu. A reply from the owners a few years ago on another review site stated they ensure they have at least a vegan option for each course on the menu so I don’t know if the owners have changed since then? Obviously I can’t rate the food as I wanted to pop in one day and couldn’t therefore give 48 hours notice. Luckily there are lots of other options for plant based eaters in the area.

We were very disappointed with the Sunday lunch, which wasn’t a cheap meal, so did expect much better. Soup was lovely, homemade, but the main course wasn’t good. The mashed potatoes were cold, roast potatoes had been cooked and then reheated, Yorkshire puddings were burnt, and the roast beef was tough. Staff were polite but a lack of people checking that everything was alright

I will just say the sunday lunch was not edible...the little ofthe anaemic chicken i did eat was quickly brought back up by 2 people in our party...service very slow and the starter was also disgusting....NEVER AGAIN

If you want rude incompetent staff door wedge beef and aunt Bessy roast potatoes then go waste your money here. Food was so not worth what we paid. The beef was so tough, not surprising being sliced into wedges and took ages for staff to bring out meals that were PRE ORDERED !!! No sauces on table so when asked for this, it felt like it was a major deal for the staff. I got looked at in such a rude manor. No changing facilities for babies, erm I'm not going to put my new born baby on the floor so just changed him on a table. Haha then when coming to pay the meal, older lady so rude stating she couldn't split the bill. Rude to my partner, all I'm going to say there is if you can't be nice in that job don't do it. Incompetent and rude won't be coming back here again

What a disaster the dinner I had at the Rose and Crown in Hose, for a start when the meal arrived all the waitresses got flustered with a family group of 20 people, then the meal itself was honestly the worst meal out that I've ever experienced I ordered beef and it was not cooked very well at all and was as tough as old boots, not being one to complain I went to pay for the 4meals I was told isn't it easier to pay all in one bill, well no as I wasn't paying for 20 people, then was given an excuse for what ever reason that I can't split the bill, how incompetent, never again will I go to this place again and I would advise others not to as well

We booked a table at the Rose and Crown after a recommendation from friends, it's in a nearby village to where we live, so we thought we would call by. This is a proper country pub, atmospheric with a warm welcome and open fireplaces. We both really enjoyed our food selections (the double burger is amazing). The staff were friendly and welcoming - in January they were offering a 20% discount as a thank you to all the regulars who had supported the pub. We thought that was a great idea. There is a great outdoor area at the back of the pub - it looked very smart as we walked by from the car park. Well done!

Nice place prices are a bit pricey

Not very often I go here as I preferred the Black Horse when it was open. But I had a very pleasant evening on the settee near the fire. Nice ales and very friendly locals. Can see me stopping off here more often. Nice big car park. Must admit it takes a bit of finding in the dark when your not sure where the pub is. I believe the meals are good here as well. Pop in and try for yourself.

Wow what a lovely pub. We were staying close by with our dog and thought we'd give it a try. Very friendly and attentive staff. We had the burgers and they were excellent. The Madri lager was very refreshing. If you're in the area just check it out, you won't regret it :-)

Did a little circular walk around Hose and Harby and stumbled on the pub just where it should be, close to the church. A pint of black sheep ale and mini fish and chips went down very well, both excellent by the way. Nice welcome and chat with the land lady and we hope to be back soon.

I drove up from Cheltenham (200mile roundtrip) for their inaugural Porsche Sunday Breakfast Meeting. There were many Porsche owners and their cars in attendance and made to feel very welcome. The coffee was perfect and Rob the landlord, his Son Tyler & the rest of the team were really pleasant & friendly. I know they have more car events planned and can thoroughly recommend making it a stopping point if passing, you will not be disappointed and I will definitely be going back again soon.

Lovely hotel in an old coaching house. Meandering halls and lots of little staircases. Stayed for a wedding and the food and breakfasts were amazing!!! Tonbridge is a lovely little town. Would definitely stay again!!!

Brillant place, food beer coffee all top quality and the service friendly and nothing too much trouble. Lots of outside tables . Hope they continue to thrive they deserve too.

Excellent selection of cask ales, just right for drinking in the refurbished patio and garden area. Just be aware of the high step up when entering by the rear entrance.

Had Sunday lunch here in the summer when Covid rules were relaxed for a short time - was lovely and great service, have just moved to the area too so will be going back.

Amazing pub with authentic Italian food. Antipasto, pasta, fish, steak and much more. Also they do the most awesome Sunday lunch with really generous portion size. Sad it is closed for 4 weeks in lockdown 2.0, but I’m counting down the days until it reopens.

Thought we would try the Rose and Crown again as it had new management. Wasnt disappointed . I had the pork and my partner the lamb and both meals were excellent.. The service was very good throughout and friendly and we felt " safe" in the environment. Will certainly return to try the Italian themed evening menu.

Really excellent food with such a wonderful cozy and friendly atmosphere. We think Steak Master 43 must have been at another restaurant...... He must be very confused !As a village pub Silvio is doing all the right things. He makes you feel so welcome and Dario the chef is really at the top of his game. We are so lucky to have this restaurant in our area.

Went today for a Sunday roast (again) and again another fantastic experience. Excellent service with an Italian touch provided by Silvio ,fantastic atmosphere and the last but not list very good food.I definitely Recommend and can’t wait to go back again.

We visited Friday night. Great friendly atmosphere. All the Covid precautions observed. The place is as clean as a whistle. Customers enjoying themselves both eating and drinking. It feels like a really good country pub/restaurant. Highly recommended.

First time visit since lockdown and we couldn’t have had a better experience. The meal was great, seafood linguini was varied and just the right amount of chilli and sea bass and mussels were cooked really well. Service was attentive (thanks Paul) and friendly

We went to the Rose for Sunday lunch and were really impressed by the food, service and atmosphere. Starter of chicken was tender & well flavoured. We had lamb for our main courses which was really moist & pink, served with a good helping of veg cooked al dente. Yorkshire puds were well risen and potato mash was smooth and well seasoned. And really GOOD gravy!! Both Paul & Silvio were attentive and ensured that everyone was well looked after.

Average. Food was uninspired and expensive for what it was. They also got our order wrong but made no adjustment to the bill for their error even though we accepted the incorrect main course to avoid one of us having to wait while the rest of us ate. Service was OK although they did forget the coffee we'd ordered and had to be reminded. The coffee was lukewarm when it arrived. The place itself is as pleasant as it was under the former owners and has not been renovated or altered. May give it another try to see if it improves over time or may just go elsewhere.

My friend and I decided as we have not been out together since lock down we would go to the Rose and Crown in Hose Melton mowbray, what can I say it.was wonderful the staff were very attentive, the manager Silvio was amazing you could see he definitely new what he was doing and made you feel very important I would highly recommend you visit this place The head chef is from Italy and it is obvious with the quality of the food he is very passionate about what he cook's everything is freshly prepared and fresh nothing frozen.A DEFINITE MUST TO VISIT.

Cracking food very good service will definitely go back

Our first visit since it changed hands. Sunday Roast was delicious and portion was huge. All staff were very pleasant, helpful and attentive. Would definitely go back again for an 'Italian Meal'.

It’s honestly so refreshing to come across such a wonderfully run pub, with the most satisfying Italian food I’ve had for a long time. I think it’s easy for Italian restaurants to dish out mediocre food, not the Rose and Crown in Hose though! This place just hits another level of service and quality of food. The owner is obviously passionate about serving guests food they love and enjoy, and actually have an experience dining there. All the food was outstanding, but the panna cotta.. words can’t describe. When it takes you half an hour to finish it, you know it’s down to savouring every bite. It’s worth noting that this place is also very accommodating to campervan and motor-homers. Beats paying £30 to stay at a campsite when you could be eating some delicious Italian food?!

Took my Father in law out for his first meal out since lockdown. Very Prompt service, good atmosphere. Its still a village pub but serving lovely Italian style food. We all enjoyed the meal. Paul and the team made us feel welcome and stopped to chat, which I thought was nice. We would recommend and would definitely go back with the rest of the family.

My wife and I went to the Rose and Crown on a weekend break in Melton Mowbray.Wow!! We were so pleased we did.I had the braised beef wrapped in bacon and my wife had the swordfish steak, both were faultless. Accompanied by an excellent bottle of rioja at brilliant value the meal was unforgettable.The excellent service provided by Silvio (head honcho), Paul (head waiter?) and the girls just added to the evening.We are definitely returning when we go back to the area.

Silvio is a fantastic host and has made great changes to the menu and atmosphere at the rose and crown. We have just had a wonderful dinner of mussels, fillet steak, pasta and tiramisu and everything was next level tasty. We would highly recommend you visit and experience it for yourselves. It is so nice to see the rose and crown reach it’s true potential.

Me and my partner called in on the off chance of a table being available and there was. Had Minestrone soup and Lasagne and it was one of the best Italian meals we've had in a very very long time. Great service, friendly staff. Highly recommend, well worth a visit.

Visited here on a Sunday where the menu is mainly Carvery. I am not a big lover of roast dinners but Silvio our waiter asked what I would like and was happy to whip something up for me. I had a delicious chicken pasta dish instead everyone else had Carvery. Food was delicious, everyone’s plates were empty. Great food and great service would definitely return

Amazing roast dinner! Tasty chicken with a great Yorkshire Pudding and proper roasted potatoes. Really perfect rhubarb creme brûlée with shortbread. Definitely going back.

Welcome and service spot on. Had a superb pasta and king prawn dish. Looking forward to more of the Italian influence from Silvio and his team. Nice menu with a mix of Italian dishes and traditional pub grub, something for everyone.

Fantastic Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Really good pudding. We both had the beef which was cooked perfectly. I had the rice pudding with apricot and raspberry, my wife had the creme brulee

Stopover in our motorhome. Easy access and plenty of space to park the motorhome Very friendly welcome by the owner Silvio. Went to the restaurant for a meal in the evening. Very friendly efficient staff and meal was delicious. We both had the dish of the day which was King Prawn pancetta and ratatouille penne pasta. We would definitely visit here again.

Silvio, Paul and Vicki gave us a very warm welcome, witty banter and good food.We stayed in the motorhome (30ft) the parking and access was easy and we were made very welcome. The car park is sloping though not enough to be of concern. Some pleasant walks surround the pub and the natives are friendly. Our dogs were welcome in the bar and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere almost as much as we did. We will be back.

Fabulous Sunday lunch! My first visit to this village pub and it won’t be the last. The pub is a lovely building with beautiful rustic decor, the staff lovely and welcoming, giving us a most comfortable table in the afternoon heat..thank you. Drinks great choice, menu very inviting. All the food we chose was perfectly presented and of very high quality, Cooked in the way we very much appreciated including the meat being very tender and moist, crackling amazing, roasts to perfection, veg fresh and crunchy, Yorkshire and gravy clearly homemade and amazing!
