Spectacular food and excellent service at this beautiful old pub. We were so impressed with the quality of the food, one of the best-prepared steaks I have ever had. The menu changes seasonally, retaining certain favourites while giving the chefs the opportunity to add new dishes focusing on high quality locally sourced produce. Despite the fact that it had clearly been an extremely busy day, the food was prepared with care, and was aesthetically impressive. The staff were kind, helpful and fun, and despite clearly working very hard, had time to build a rapport with us, and worked well as a team. Overall very impressive, and the surroundings are amazing, such a gorgeous old building with many original features of its organic growth retained throughout. Definitely worth a visit. Be sure to book. We were upset to see that some people had booked and then not turned up - so disrespectful of a small, local business, and a hard working team

Meeting friends for lunch, The Anne of Cleves was our choice that was a central meeting point , having each travelled from Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire. It did not disappoint one bit. The staff there were very welcoming and had reserved a table for us. We were told that it was their new Autumn menu and there was so much choice. Between us we had the Fish which my husband said he could actually taste the beer in the batter which was so tasty and I had the Steak and Ale pie. Wow !!! The steak just melted in my mouth and the flavour was amazing. Thank you for a wonderful lunch experience.

72yr old Disabled customer fined £125 and threatened with court action over parking in the pubs carpark. Walked from car to the garden gate entrance, spent quality time with lomg lost old friends. Enjoyed nice meal on a sunny Saturday lunchtime. Spent £50 in 2 hours. Found out 1 week later the company controlling the pubs carpark issued a large fine for incorrectly entering registration details. Went back to the pub several times to try to resolve, promised the manager would be in touch by phone. Nothing back. Emailed 3 times to Anne of Cleves and Everards brewery, totally ignored. No response. Tried to appeal the fine through the correct process, rejected. Anxiety and stress level at boiling point. Its not the folk who work in the pubs fault, this is the fault of absolutely ZERO customer care from the pubs management and the owners Everards brewery to think it is O.K. to completely ignore a paying customer's cry out for help. To not even bother to reply in any way, not even by email or phone. Good luck to you in future business, because you are going to need it. Disgusting customer service.

Let me start by saying that I really do want this pub and it's team to be successful. This is the flagship of the Everard's Brewery and deservedly so. A beautiful building with a great history and the best Pub garden in Melton. The beer and food is good, if on the expensive side for the area. The main problem that lets the pub down is the organisation and lack of a real leader. They often run out of menu ingredients and staff are oblivious to what is required or lack urgency, leaving tables or the bar to often be overflowing with plates and glasses. It honestly would not take much to elevate the pub to the levels it deserves

Hubby chose the pie which was full of meat which he said was very tender and I chose ham egg and chips the ham was home cooked and thickly sliced the chips were chunky and tasty the eggs were a little overcooked not enough dippiness for me but that was the only criticism.

We were visiting Melton Mowbray for the day and decided to have a meal and spend our money locally. From outside the building looks every bit the part of an historical town. Luckily they are dog friendly. Our order comprised of French onion soup starter, fish and chips and gammon with 2 fried eggs handcut chips. The soup arrived and I can only describe it as onion gravy with a bit of cheese sprinkled on top. When our mains arrived my partner's gammon meal looked OK. When it came to my fish and chips the meal went dramatically down hill. When I went to open the fish, oil oozed out of the batter. Pressing the fish all the way along, oil continued to flood out. The batter wasn't crisp, it was spongy. I mentioned it to a member of staff who then spoke to someone senior. She asked if there was anything else I would like to order. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu. I then proceeded to sit and watch my partner eat his meal. By the time my replacement meal arrived, my partner had finished his, so ineffect we ate separately. My meal was just about edible really, nothing to write home about except the prices charged. I was told that the chef said "the fish only came in this morning (frozen) and probably hadn't defrosted thoroughly, so there was probably moisture in it and will be better the next day" Really??? Although the staff were apologetic and handled it rather well, we don't feel it right to recommend this restaurant after our experience.

So I was looking for a nice Sunday roast as I'm new to the Melton area...I ordered the set roast beef dinner £18 and a pint of Sam Miguel totalling £21 so I was expecting something filling and nice for the money. I took my drink and sat down and it came to the table within seconds, which is never a sign of fresh food. It was presented like a gourmet meal but it was not good! It came with 1 Yorkshire pudding 2 strips of beef, a spoonful of veg and 2 roast potatoes which I could of snapped in half and barely cut with a knife they were so hard. All of which was barely warm. As a first time visit, I was very disappointed to say the least... I would not recommend it for the food although the staff were nice and the beer garden is a nice environment.

The beers were great tasting and served with a smile and patience; we were all made to feel so welcome but not as welcome as the most important member of the group, my boy Beano who loved his slice of posh ham (there was no sausage available) . We are a bit of a critical audience because I was a pub landlord for 30 years and my daughter is a chef in a pub a few miles away; we all agreed that despite it being our first visit we are definitely going to return again.
