Amazing, proper old world pub with real history and character. Also serves proper beer!

Over the last two years we have only had the food once since we had a poor experience on the first ocsasion, but spending around £30 per month in the bar. We now do not use it as we have just received a parking fine for £100 from their car park because we were parked as we normaly do, but went into the estate agents next door who share the parking area mistakingly believing it was legitimate.

Characterful, with friendly staff. Be aware it doesn't open on Mondays, not even Bank Holiday which is a bit disappointing as their beer garden is stunning. Their new menu has good vegan options.

Fantastic pub, friendly service, decent live music, great food, in an ancient building. Loved it.

Great pub in Melton with free parking. The menu had good choice without being too big, and the staff were friendly. The food was excellent - the white bait was particularly delicious!

What an amazing find! Not only is the owner so passionate about the incredible building and its history the range of food and drink is next level. We ate like kings and queens, huge portions but each item was of the highest quality, locally sourced and executed perfectly. We would come back in a heartbeat 💓

Called for a drink and lunch whilst on a weekend away in our Campervan. Had nice pint and the seafood basket and homemade burger, both very nice! Dog friendly too 🐕 Would be nice to see a bit more about the history of the pub on display. Would call again 👍

Great place, had lunch here tried Fryday menu, very nice, best chunky chips I've ever had. Would happily have platefull of those on their own!. Doggie friendly and not just a sign to get people in, they actually fussed and gave water and treats. Very cosy and friendly, with excellent beer too.

Absolutely brilliant pub food and very reasonably priced. Will be going back.

First time here - it was Christmas, so busy. Bar staff were good, and prices very reasonable. Went with a bunch of people and everyone enjoyed. Didn't eat, but heard good things, will probably pop back for a Sunday lunch later this year.

Fantastic little pub. Absolutely delicious steak pie and mash. Filled with large chunks of tender beef. Served with deliciously creamy mash and perfectly cooked vegetables. Highly recommended

Stopped here for some respite while waiting an hour and 45 minutes for my train back to Leicester. Had some amazing soup of the day, even the accompanying bread was perfectly toasted and crispy. Had a fruit drink I just had to get the name of because it was so good. Wonderful staff too, interesting building history, a 10/10 memory of my time in Melton Mowbray I would definitely return again.

My husband and I are local but haven't eaten at the Anne of Cleves pub for a long while. The food was absolutely delicious - pigeon starter, pork cassoulet and I had the hake, possibly one of the best fish dishes I've ever had! Obviously the charm and quaintness of such an old pub go without saying, but the staff were great too and super helpful. Thank you for a lovely evening we will be back.

Beautiful old pub , very friendly staff food was ok and not overly priced. The mussels were lovely, and portions were a good size. All in all a pretty decent place to eat.

Originally went out to somewhere but it was shut so looked for a dog friendly pub on Google...it suggested here, and what a great suggestion. The food was excellent: cooked and not bingged in the mw. The beers were great tasting and served with a smile and patience; we were all made to feel so welcome but not as welcome as the most important member of the group, my boy Beano who loved his slice of posh ham (there was no sausage available) . We are a bit of a critical audience because I was a pub landlord for 30 years and my daughter is a chef in a pub a few miles away; we all agreed that despite it being our first visit we are definitely going to return again. Thanks for a great lunch.

Great roast beef Sunday Lunch @ £17 which we thought was great VFM as i was excellent tender beef, great portion of veg and all piping hot with great service and a lovely pint.

Went as a group of 4. The pub has great atmosphere. The service was excellent and the waiting staff were very attentive. The food was excellent quality and well cooked. An excellent meal for a decent price. Would highly recommend. The steak was perfectly cooked, as was the pigeon. The ham was excellent as was the pumpkin and chocolate brownie desert. Good ales and beers.

We enjoyed Sunday roast, with all the trimmings. Portion size was good, nothing missed. The pub is a beautiful place, full of character really well maintained. Food was served quickly, we arrived for an early table, we booked for 12pm but all other tables in the restaurant were fully booked so book in advance to avoid disappointment! Would definitely recommend when visiting Melton Mowbray

Lovely coaching Inn in Melton food was excellent and wine great

My partner and I passed by to grab drinks from here as we have been meaning to for quite a while. We finally came in and I must admit I like the concept and structural integrity of the place. Their dishes were quite traditionally plated, they’re paired with a nice selection of ales. My partner was especially pleased with his ale. 🍺 I also tried Malfy gin with lemonade. We will definitely be back but with a larger group.

This is a love old historic pub with a good selection of beers, however our meal was very disappointing, especially as it wasn't cheap.

Very good pub. The food was definitely restaurant quality and delicious. Service was excellent and the food arrived promptly. A good range of draft beers. Dog friendly, a lovely garden at the rear with plenty of parking and a wonderful and historic building. My only criticism is of those customers who wander in and forget to shut the door behind them, leaving us eating in a draft.

Four of us had lunch. We all enjoyed it very much indeed. An enormous choice of food, and everything was marvellous. Two small gripes. Firstly I would really like a cocktail when I go for a girly lunch. Second, if I book a table I really expect table service. But neither of those things would stop me going here again. And I might even make a special trip just to have the chunky chips again!

Horid undercooked lump of chicken. Long waits for drinks & food. The most uncomfortable chairs ever.

We arrived 1.30 Tuesday lunchtime. No chicken left , no mash left. Ordered fries and got chips instead. Asked for extra gravy for pies which we ordered because no chicken then was told we would have to pay for the extra gravy. Staff not bothered. Will NOT be going again. 1st and last time.

We were greeted by being told that we were waiting in the wrong place and were then pointed to our table, rather than being taken there. We were asked to place our orders at the bar, rather than have waiter service because they were short-staffed, but with four of us with special requests and requirements, they begrudgingly came to the table to take the order on the basis that we would order and collect our own drinks at the bar. Starters were excellent, and dietary requirements were taken seriously, but the mains weren't very marvellous and took ages to arrive.

A good traditional pub with excellent beers on tap, helpful stuff and the most delicious fish finger sandwich that I have ever eaten. Memorable. The history of the building is fascinating and it’s a very welcoming and comfortable place to have a drink and something to eat.

Quiet when I went in with my dog. Food excellent, beer my favourite Everards Tiger bitter. Mussels were excelkent

Club Sandwich was very disappointing and did not match the description on the menu. A bizarre mustard sauce might be loved by you, but was hated by me. Where oh where was the Stilton???

Exceptional food - the pie was delicious with extra gravy and perfectly cooked veg. The steak equally good with Stilton sauce. Loved this place. Was overnight in Melton Mowbray and wanted somewhere to eat as a family. Landlord was excellent. Fitted us in and prioritised our food as we had the kids with us. The quality of food was superb. Tasty and perfectly cooked. Good value too. Highly recommend

Very enjoyable lunch outside. Grandchildren and dog also v happy with the food and service. Particularly helpful when I rang later re lost hearing aids - Simon found them in the car park and saved them for me - great customer service!!

Arrived at Anne of cleaves told them we had a table booked . Ordered a red wine filled with ice . Bar man/manager was so rude and said no ice , this was 7:15pm on a Saturday night . I replied no ice it’s a restaurant and bar . He said no sassy attitude. I was so angry. We nearly left . Instead of saying we willl go get some from supermarket around corner. Ordered food . Chicken snitzal was nice rock hard egg on top . Not good . Didn’t stay for dessert as manager had pissed me off so much . Bad service . So silly it could have been great . Customer service 0

Nice beer garden and a decent pint

Overall extremely average. It was not busy at all and my kids were crying as we waited so long for food. The food... badly burnt steak. Tiny piece of fish. Chicken nuggets that were yuk. Expressed our concerns. Paid the bill. Never go back.

Best Pub Grub we have had in a very long time, excellent value for money, lovely friendly staff, amazing environment. Wasn't over busy but far from empty too. Would highly recommend and definitely would visit again when next in the area.

Great outdoor space. The garden area is gorgeous and the atmosphere outside is wonderful. The staff weren't overly welcoming or friendly but the drinks were nice. The place shut early because they were short staffed and my husband and I would probably have stayed longer.

Food is amazing and very well priced. Staff are friendly and polite and the atmosphere is good as well as all this the building itself is steeped in history. Will be visiting again next time I am in Melton

Great pub!!!!! Travelling through Melton Mowbray stopped here for dinner and glad we stopped here. Fast friendly service good selection of drinks, food was tasty and hot. will stop here again when driving through.

I had a great roast beef Sunday lunch , whilst my partner had chicken. Both meats cooked well and moist, really impressed with the food.

We were happy to support The Anne of Cleves in Melton Mowbray with volume catering for a wedding rehearsal. We were greeted by friendly owners, helpful staff and a nice cold pint of Moretti.

Delicious Sunday roast. Sat in the snug with our greyhound, plenty of space for him to stretch out. Food was great. The beef was perfectly pink and vegetables were lovely. Car park located behind pub and the beer garden looked great. Would recommend!
