The best restaurants serving British food in England

In the past this has been a great place for Sunday roast but sadly not any more. One of our party received a slither of pork. Another was so underwhelmed by roast options they just ate a starter. Vegetarian option butternut squash which is hardly adequate and just a plate of vegetables with no protein for £20. Someone needs a word with the chef and/or owner. Cold Yorkshire puddings and gravy the consistency of stock. Style over substance and woefully inadequate. The Bower House do no seem to respond to reviews so shows how little the opinion of their customers matter.

The Falcon Inn stands in the Heart of the East Yorkshire village of Withernwick. We chose to go on a Thursday evening as it’s Steak night! My husband and his parents chose steaks and I chose the home made beef lasagne from the main menu. I have to say everything was gorgeous, beautiful tender steaks and the best lasagne I’ve had on a meal out for ages! The pub has a lovely atmosphere, made very welcome by the staff on entering the bar area, and drinks were brought to our table in the dining area. If you are on holiday or just visiting friends near Withernwick, call in for a drink or food you won’t be disappointed. Altass family, Leven, East Yorkshire.

Absolutely nothing to fault here. One of the best pub meals we have ever had. It was recommended by our Airbnb hosts and we are so pleased we tried it out. The Belly Pork and the Lamb Shank were both so well cooked, seasoned and served with ample sauce/gravy. The apple sponge pudding was so light and fluffy and the ‘special’ dessert of chocolate and brandy torte was perfect. The staff were welcoming, polite, professional and did everything to please. Well done, we may live 125 miles away but next time we visit York we will be back. Thank you.

Nice friendly locals pub, in the wilds of somerset, yes the grass will be growing up the middle of the road as you seek to find it but its a gem worth seeking out. Really good food and well kept beer

We Love this Place! My daughter Has Afrid and Really struggles with eating out because It’s a little harder to cater to her needs and she feel uncomfortable when asking for additional changes/adaptions, Well The Island Fishbar went above and beyond the first time I took her in their and she was so comfortable and enjoyed her meal so much we are now regulars! She happily asks For her food in a way she can eat it and theres never a problem, You ask, you get. She is so confident that she will ask all by herself for her meal with her specific instructions (seperate plate or no food touching ect) This was even her place of choice for her birthday dinner treat, It also makes life a little easier for me As I’m not stressed about finding somewhere or worrying About if the food she wants is stocked ect The staff are lovely! Especially the young waitress what a sweetheart She is. Great place all round

Popped in today for a drink with friends. Such a lovely place. Friendly staff. Kenzie was extremely helpful. It was a lovely afternoon. Will be back soon.
