The pub was not very busy and the staff were very nice but the food was horrible!!! Everything was over cooked the mashed was microwaved and the stuffing was pack mix and raw onion. The meat was so overcooked it was not cut able the pork was like string, it was so bad I couldn’t eat it. We just paid and left.

Where do I start with this amazing little camping pub.Just had a lovely 3 night stay with my ex and our shared dog Tilly. It was mainly about Tilly and spending some time with her together for a change and for that alone it was perfect, place to play away from the vans and tents and safe off lead for her.. Food was amazing and atmosphere brilliant. Best steak an ale pie I have ever had, gammon and chips perfect.. Sunday lunch was quality in every way but sadly was quite cold, think the heat lamps need looking at because we were the first to go collect.warmed plates might help.. Sorry to have to point that out guys because all the staff were fantastic. Price to stay per night was super value,I'd be happy to pay more if you had a shower on site but I had other arrangement for that anyway.. All in all a super dog friendly pub and site and I wouldn't think twice to recommend you to others. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.. Love Daz,Wendy and Tilly dog..xx

The best home cooked Sunday lunch. Carvery style, beautifully cooked meat with a carvery choice of vegetables. Amazing triple roast potato's. Limited sweet selection. However, I too full to eat a sweet.

Parked up in our motorhome excellent place to stay very peaceful, pub is brilliant with a great atmosphere, food was spot on, facilities are adequate no shower block but that’s no problem for us personally as we used our own shower, will definitely return as not far from home so will bring our car next time to venture further into the village, overall a nice friendly welcoming place to stay xx

Whilst visiting my mum-in -law for the weekend we decided we'd like to take her out for Sunday lunch. Remembering my husband's love of The Sloop many, many years ago I Googled. The reviews were very good - decision made. Arriving at the pub, now awash with flowers, both in hanging baskets and in the pretty pub garden, we went inside. The Sloop although now extended has firmly kept its links to the past, it's a pub as it should be, a rarity nowadays. The carvery was superb, the lamb, the Yorkshire puddings (home made) and the varied selection of vegetables were all delicious, a credit to the chef Angela, who is also the landlady. The character of the place gave it a lovely ambience, the staff were friendly and the service was good. The Sunday lunch was simply the best I have ever had and we all agreed. We live in Shropshire but next time we visit my mum-in-law we will be back. Thank you The Sloop!

Stayed on the lovely little caravan site, owned by the pub, a nice site with fresh water, electricity and waste water disposal. The Inn itself is a great find, the owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, there's a little wait for your food in the pub restaurant but we'll worth it as everything is home cooked, fresh, well presented and beautifully cooked, out first visit, but we WILL BE BACK.

8 of us stayed here Fri Sat 4th and 5th Feb. We all Absolutely enjoyed it.We was made to feel very welcome by all the Sloop team, and the locals too. Bob the landlord top man. Put us onto lifts into Selby for all 8 of us, which was a great help, we came back to the Site Sat evening had a great time with the regulars such a good laugh, great prices best pizzas I've ever tasted. We will all be deffo coming back. It rained heavy on the Sat night. And a member of our party got stuck in mud not sure of the name of the guy who helped us free our motorhome but he was a star he did everything he could to get us off the site when the slip mats didn't work he kindly got his land rover and towed us off. Couldn't thank him enough and when we return we owe that man a large drink. This site is a must visit. Thanks for great weekend Sandra.

Well I searched trip adviser for nearby carveries. This place had really good reviews, and I wasn’t disappointed. The meat (I had lamb and pork) was so tasty.....My partner had beef. The food is definitely home cooked, and is just like being at home without cooking. It’s a small friendly pub, with helpful staff. I think I’ve found the perfect carvery to bring friends and family. I travelled 12 miles to get here, and I’d do it again and again. Thank you for a lovely Sunday lunch guys, keep up the good work.

Disgusted that my 3 year old was playing with a toy that made noise while it was quiet so instead of having a word with me the landlord after having a few drinks decided it would be appropriate to shout “no” numerous times at a 3 year old child. Took a lot to keep myself calm seeing my child’s reaction. A real joke

It's a local pub, does food, decent beer and good prices. Sunday carvery is a proper Sunday lunch. Popular little caravan/ campsite. It's got characters and character. A friendly atmosphere. All that warmth you expect in a real pub. Like going home somewhere else. People from the Netherlands turn up on cycling holidays because someone over there recommended the place. That's eclectic mix that is The Sloop.

We had not eaten at The Sloop in a very long time so decided to pay it a visit for Sunday Dinner on the 13th of September. We were not disappointed in any way with the meal we had.Choice of 3 meats with the lamb cooked to perfection. All vegetables were fresh with a great variety. Not over cooked to a soggy mass and still with some crispness in them. The cauliflower cheese was very tasty and the mini roast potatoes the best I have had in a long time. It was nice to have the gravy brought to the table in a gravy boat and not having to get it out of the large containers you usually see with the ladles.A good selection of sweets can be had, the treacle sponge very hot and very tasty! All staff were pleasant, helpful and courteous. We had 2 carvery's, 2 drinks and shared a sweet and thought it was exceptional value for money for the £20.05 we paid.Highly recommend the Sunday Carvery here and we hope to return again sometime soon.

.... but good honest home cooking it is :)Spent the weekend with a group of friends camped out in the basic but well maintained camp ground out the back the pub.Breakfast & dinners are among the best we've had.The owners and their helpers could not be friendlier or better, they looked after us all very well indeed. Even the rooster in the hen run was well behaved, crowing just enough to let us know he was there but not too early & not too often.Recommended for a weekend with your tent, camper or caravan.

The meat is cooked to perfection, the veg are delicious, lovely Yorkshire puds and your own gravy boat. It really does take some beating! The pub is a cosy little place with a real fire in winter. All the staff are friendly and polite. Get your map out and look for Temple Hirst. You'll be glad you did!

My wife and myself had been meaning to visit the Sloop for years after hearing good things about it, shame we left it so long.We arrived at 5.30, thirty minutes before they started to take orders for food but enjoyed drinks and a friendly chat in the bar. A very warm and friendly atmosphere. The owner, a lovely lady took our order we couldn't resist the homemade burgers made out of rump steak. We ate outside in the lovely garden. Could not fault the burger, real chips, onion rings. Excellent. The Guinness was spot on as well. The Sloop is a bit out of the way but well worth a visit....or 2

I have been home 20 minutes I only live 5 miled from the pub I left home at 6.30 n returned at 9.10 after only a starter n main n one drink. the pub as a lovely warm welcome we was the first people in there too order food we ordered at 6.45 had a starter at 7.00 and our main came at 7.50 two steaks one medium and one rare. (one word) crematured after being disappointed with the 8 quarters of mushrooms on the starter I decided to send the steaks back the young chappy was more than happy to help. but we didnt then receive our re made meal till 8.20 the steak was then cooked ok but in all this time the childs fish fingers chips n beans had still not arrived when it did arrive it was fish fingers n mash no veg no beans no sauce. the chips rather greasy on the steaks n the fish gingers was cheap n nasty. the waiter brought the bill which had 2 starters 2 mains n a Childs on but yeat the total said £63 when I added the meals up it came to 31.75 so I waited and waited and waited some more for the waiter who never came back so I went to the bar n explained the bar man apolagised n took my money. I was very upset as these reviews read good n the pub us in a lovely setting but was a very poor stressfull evening..... won't return

It was a cold Thursday night, the cupboards were empty, didn't fancy fish n chips so we headed to The Sloop Inn for our tea. Angie and Bob are the hosts and both are welcoming. The fire was roaring as we walked in, the hand pull real ale was fantastic as Bob keeps probably the best pint of handpull in the area and our tea was... fantastic! Fiona got the liver & onions on a big dollop of mash which was really tasty and I ordered the 16oz rump steak, which came with HOMEMADE chips (just like me gran used to do them!) onions, mushrooms, peas & cooked tomato. As soon as it was placed in front of me I was in heaven. The steak was an inch thick and dominated the plate! I'd ordered it medium and it was perfect. nicely pink in the middle but not oozing blood - Angie can cook steak! We ate the lot! The Sloop Inn only uses top quality meats from local farms and you can really taste the quality. We left the Sloop with our bellies full and money still in our wallets because this place is not only great quality but good value too - they don't over charge. What you get is great food, local village pub atmosphere, open fire and real ale - just how a pub should be! 10/10

The Sloop is a bit of a hidden gem we found when cycling some quiet byways south of Selby. We passed on a weekend midmorning about 10.15 without any intention of making a stop, but were seduced by the sunny morning and the roadside sign saying call in for breakfast. A bargain £5 won us a full English with toast and coffee all included, which we enjoyed in a beautifully peaceful grassy garden. A treat.

I have visited the sloop to eat on many occasions and have always enjoyed it. There is a bar snack and restaurant menu with a specials board which is updated quite often. The last time i went was with a group 2 of us had chicken and the other two steaks. The chicken was spot on and the steak was cooked just right 1 medium, the other medium rare. All the meals were served with salad, proper chips and a nice pepper sauce with the steaks. The owner called Angie served us, she was very quick and has a lovely relaxed sense of humour. If you want a good pub atmosphere with good well cooked food then give this place a try

We took a bit of a detour from our journey South to visit The Hidden Tearoom, and what a great choice it was! So many delicious homemade goodies and a very warm welcome from Edi. The Scone-wiches (cheese scone with bacon, onion marmalade, cream cheese and salad) were fabulous and there were too many lovely cakes and puddings to choose from. Highly recommended.

We have eaten here with friends 4 times over the last 2 years, but it has never really impressed us. The food is OK, but not really worth the cost. The chips were hard and dry, which I don't understand as they are supposed to be home made! Also, the drinks have always been expensive, but £4.55 for 1 pint and one half pint of lime and soda is ridiculous. The most we have ever paid in the past is £3, but often less than that!!
