Excellent food in a relaxed atmosphere

Went for Sunday Dinner and was not disappointed. Portions were generous, tasty and well presented. Atmosphere was very welcoming. Even though we didn't arrive until 5pm and service stopped at 6pm our food looked amazing and tasted great. Will definitely be returning in the future 🙂

We visited the cross keys yesterday. We do visit once a week most weeks. I am very disappointed. The prices have increased but I was not concerned about that. What really disappointed me was that I could not swap my garlic bread for a few chips. Unfortunately we will not be visiting again.

Just had a wonderful experience at the Cross keys. Great food, excellent service and some good draught beer. Dover sole on the specials menu. GET IN THERE QUICK BEFORE ITS GONE! Highly recommend and thank you to all the staff

Food overall very nice but medium rare steak NOT medium rare. Chewy and overdone. Chef informed. No gesture made even though steak left and waitress/chef told. Won’t go back again ☹️

Really superb meal. We arrived early and luckily they were able to accommodate us. The food was delicious, well presented tasty and plentiful. The staff were excellent and the overall atmosphere was really nice. Would highly recommend.

We were met with a really friendly atmosphere and amazing food!! I had the spring rolls and my partner had the curry wurst which was delicious. We had great service from the lovely ladies. I would happily recommend to friends and family… and dogs!

Great pub with great food range and wide range of beers and wines ,well worth a visit

I’ve visited this restaurant/pub on many occasions with my family and partner, each time has been absolutely beautiful. I always get the belly pork, which is always cooked to perfection, I never ever get bored of having it 😍 though I have tried other stuff, which I have been just as impressed by :) Prices are affordable and brilliant for the quality the food is, staff are beyond friendly and accommodating and the restaurant itself is gorgeous and extremely cosy! We will 100% be returning in the future!

The chicken supreme was absolutely delicious. As was the spring onion mash.

We went in for a single pint of Neck Oil and an orange juice. £9.70!!! I will not be returning with less than pleasant bar staff too.

It was many years since I last visited here and I enjoyed the food then. Having just moved back into the area I thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed. The staff were lovely. Friendly and helpful with my questions. The food was just lovely. We had two large light yorkshire puddings with gravy - perfect. The Cross Keys Burger, served with chips followed and was said to be delicious. Saschas chicken supreme was perfectly cooked chicken, spring onion mash, served with a gorgeous creamy mushroom sauce. Oh I am salivating at the thought of it. Belgian chocolate melt amd Sticky toffee pudding followed, both dlicious and generous portions. . All in all, what a lovely meal. I will certainly be back. Booked for 6 on Thursday evening . Son arrived early to watch the football . What a lovely friendly guy Dave is one of the other customers . Staff very helpful and friendly and very accommodating . Food was well worth the ride over . Don't usually have a starter but had the belly pork . Highly recommend . All 6 meals , starters and extras were very nice . On top of extremely high prices. Coke, pint of beer, gin n tonic over 18.00 and most food between 20.00 and 30.00 is a RIP OFF and must another back street pub cashing in and ripping people off. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Had a family meal here last week.The sun was shining, and the food and service were fantastic.Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Great salmon cooked to perfection

A proper pub, with proper food And everything else proper too! I especially like the curry wurst, as it reminds me of my youth, spent in Germany. But I'd also recommend the fish pie, the Thai curry and any of the weekly specials. Always fairly priced. There's a great beer garden and there is always a warm welcome. The quiz night is on a Thursday, but as yet we've not won it!

At this Pub, me and a band of immediate family and close friends enjoyed Sunday Roast (celebrating a birthday) starters were ,in my opinion, quick to come out. The Yorkshire Pudding was nice and had a good amount of gravy, so that my pud didn't develop a soggy base. I was unable to try some other of my group's differing starters, but I can tell you they were up to a good standard. The mains were quick aswell, and I feasted on a classic Sunday roast. The meat was slightly dry on the edges but the middle was really, very nice. To add, the pub prefers pre-orders but had an old menu that wasn't completely right. That was a little annoying but ,anyway as wise Taylor Swift once said: It's delicate. Yeah, one awful review could ruin this lovely, local pub. It wasn't busy either but I know more people venture in later into the evening. The roast potatoes were crispy and not greasy, which is good. The Ice-Cream dessert was good but the only thing that let it down was the fact that I specifically asked if this strawberry ice cream would contain seeds e.c.t but unfortunately, it did. It may have been miscommunication on my end but if you like fresh strawberry chunks in your buttery and smooth ice cream, this is perfect for you! Sunday lunch. 5 plates, pork, 2xbeef, lamb and a fish pie nice food at a reasonable price. All the meals were tasty, good selection of veg. And great slice lemon chesse cake to finish.

Visited for Sunday lunch the food was cold , I had the beef a deft it all, couldn’t cut it. My husband got lamb and it was raw (even though it should be served pink) roast potatoes were awful , heard the next table complain about the sides of crackling and stuffing , food just has gone downhill. We will never go again and have been customers for about 2.5 years with new a chef and prior with old chef. Staff very I friendly on this occasion .

We were looking for a Sunday roast quite late into the afternoon and remembered The Cross Keys from a previous visit. When we got there it was busy which is always a good sign . The food was lovely and people were still arriving as we left . Definitely recommend the Cross Keys

the food was ok, not too over priced, my peas were cold but i wasnt upset over this, however i was upset over a bar bill of £12.50 for a bacardi and coke + a pint of orange cordial, WTF, lets promote drink and driving, dont ever go to this place, god forgive you get a double.

The pub is an important part of the community. Warm welcome, good food & drink. Dan is a great landlord.

Stumbled across this pub yesterday on way back from York, great welcome and food was amazing. Thai curry 11/10 great portion and Cooked to perfection. steak pie same good portion size too and chips were so fluffy. Service was great too can’t thank you enough really enjoyed our meal.

Our first visit and really enjoyable. I had tandoori chicken skewers and my husband had the steak pie which were both excellent. Lovely and helpful staff. Will definitely return. .

Over priced, asked for more roast potatoes, as all I was given was 3 1/4. I was changed £4 more on top of the over priced roast at £19 for 2 slices of beef, there was 6 people for lunch everyone had to share the vegetables that's not the problem. The problem was we had 2 1/4 to share asked for more veg. The ladies face said it all. We have to change you for more veg. I will not be back again because of the owner attitude to asking. Such a shame

Nice pub, popular with the locals, friendly atmosphere. Worth booking if you want to eat as it does get busy. Can sometimes be hard to find a seat inside, that's pretty much my only complaint. Nice beer garden for the summer.

Wow. Had an amazing meal here tonight. Everything was excellent. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Portion sizes were very large. Don’t know how anyone can write a bad review of this place.

Our drinks arrived and my wife's glass had the last person's lipstick still on it. Not a good start. The fish pie I ordered was very dry and covered in cheese which overpowered the taste of the fish, some pieces of which were a very dark colour. Didn't enjoy it at all. In fact everything, including starters, was very overpriced. The place is dingy and not very welcoming and the service was adequate at best. And to add insult to injury, we were charged for 8 starters instead of 4, making the bill nearly £30 more than it should have been! Sorry, Cross Keys, but you won't be seeing us again.

Been here lot's of times bit tonight was really disappointing ordered the gammon from special board asked what it came with told pineapple and egg asked for no pineapple and a well done egg yolk broke if possible, it came with pineapple and a very runny egg, asked the lady she took it back Came back but egg still snotty and the gammon was as tuff as old boots couldn't cut it with steak knife So couldn't eat it told the waitress who wasn't bothered so when I went to bar to pay I explained about my meal she just said no one else had complained and charged me £15.95 for a few chips and salad not happy 😡

Absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch and an extremely friendly pub. Stopped off here on our way to Manchester for the Anne Marie concert. I was craving a Sunday lunch, searched on google and this little goldmine popped up. We arrived quite late and without a reservation, they squeezed us in and oh my goodness we were not disappointed. Very happy, full and satisfied tummies, thank you so much guys, we will be back!

Don't think you can go wrong with the Cross Keys Inn . Been numerous times since moving to the area 2 yrs ago. Never had a bad meal. Certainly 1 of our go to places. Lovely place and food , look forward to going again soon. Not sure who the owners are but ,Keep up the good work.

Booked for Sunday Lunch, we've been before for Tea / Dinner and found it to be OK. We came to order, noticed the menu was priced quite different to the online menu, but still no problem. Our party all read the menu to say mashed and roast potatoes were included, one of our party actually said on ordering, I don't want the mashed potato, 2 of the party asked if we could have a slice of two of the meats, which is normal at some restaurants, we were told OK. The problems started at the point of our food being brought out, the waitress could not determine which plate had which meat, the meat was covered with a Yorkshire pudding and a few toast potatoes. Eventually we worked out what was, but as we exposed the meat I was quite disappointed, the meats reminded me of meat I've seen in Catering packs, a uniformly sliced at 2-3mm, thick in gravy. Really dissoppointing, did not look like it had been carved off a joint, lacking in taste. On top of that, on receipt of the bill we had been charged extra for our mashed potato. Obviously it was not clarified but for a slice of two meats, we were charged for a trio of meats @£20.95 each . If the quality of the food had been good, I would not question the charge but the quality was not good. Cannot recommend, will not return any time soon.

Great dinner very tasty. Unfortunately let down by staff that said they didn't do a bitter shandy. Atmosphere was subdued could do with background music ( if present wasn't heard) would go back but would hope the service was better 😉

Booked a table last minute and staff were very helpful to accommodate. We received a warm welcoming upon arrival and service was very prompt and friendly. The food was excellent and great recommendation of the pork belly bites from the staff. I still can’t believe how reasonable the price was for the quality of the food !! Absolutely fantastic pub/restaurant. I hope to return to the area in the future as I will definitely return to eat here again.

Soft drinks are extortionately priced. £3 for half a coke (which wasn't even a coke, it was Pepsi). And it was flat. At other similar village pubs I pay around £1.50-£1.70. How can they possibly justify £3?

We were recommended by a friend who heard the Cross Keys was really good for food. We weren't disappointed the lasagne was the best I have ever had, my partner had the beef and ale pie, he was very impressed.. We will definitely be booking again very soon. The staff were very good and efficient

Cross Keys was recommended by a friend who lives locally and had just given my car a once-over. I was a bit sceptical at first - it's just after 3pm on a warm Tuesday afternoon - and not expecting a hostelry to be still serving food. But all was well...well. Perusing the menu, we partook of a small beer and a small wine. Twelve quid. It's not difficult to see why people are spending more time at home, including yours truly. My good friend had come up from the New Forest on a jolly in his new motorhome and took the cheap option of a brie and cranberry baguette. I think. Which was thoroughly enjoyed. While I splashed out on the old faithful of a burger'n'chips, which was excellent, cooked as I like them and with lovely crispy fries. The inn is very clean and bright, devoid of much atmosphere as it was virtually empty, but it was the enthusiasm of the staff and chef which made the experience worthwhile. Thank you. I would certainly go again, maybe when there are a few more customers, but doubt I'll be drinking. Highly recommended.

I can honestly say we have been coming here quite a few times and the food has been out of this world however they have changed chefs and it really does tell no where near the quality that it used to be it is a shame as we loved this place we have recommended to loads of people but no more sorry to say

Booked a table for 9 people for a birthday meal on Sat 22nd April for 5pm, this was our 4th visit in the last couple of months. As previously the food was good with the service a little slow which wasn't a problem as it was quite busy. My daughter asked if we could have another drink at 6-45pm, at this time people were still eating desserts, the lady in charge said "no not really as I need your table at 7pm as I have 10 people booked in" when we questioned her she said "you can take your drinks into the snug" we declined this offer as we had young children with us. When we booked the table we were not informed we of a time constraint on the table, had we been told we would have booked the table for 4pm. It's a good job that none our party had ordered a starter as I am not really sure where the table of 10 would have gone. Left feeling disappointed

We visited the cross keys for an early evening drink. All tables in lounge area were laid out for diners so we went into the snug. Wow what a shambles, it was untidy (extra seating stored next to the bar), dirty , the leather seats...

As you know I am a very funny eater and this was the first time I've had to sign a disclaimer for my raw vegetables. But they wouldn't do my raw potatoes, even though I have them all the time and other restaurants will. I ordered the pork with pork scratchings and I asked for extra due to the lack of extras in my plate. But when it came there was no crunch and when I asked the server said they'd run out. I had asked for no gravy and my pork had gravy on it. When pointed out it was there the server said it was because it was dry. I had asked for no gravy so that had to be replaced. My friend had Bread and Butter pudding and it was cold in the middle. This was removed from the bill at the end.

Food and service was excellent would highly recommend.
