Really great coffee and delicious cake (raspberry and white chocolate, since you ask!) Service friendly and view from the perching stools and tables at the end of the cafe rather lovely across Berwick’s rooftops. Good place for coffee before or after the Lowry exhibition!

Visited after reading great reviews and we’d booked panto tickets later. Nice looking menu but seemed a little pricey, didn’t mind that if the food was going to be outstanding. Hard to read the specials on the wall and our children found it difficult to choose something from the main menu. We were finally given a kids menu but the selection was limited and expensive. The food was fine, just fine. £6.95 for a cheese sandwich seemed excessive as it was just a bun and a tiny amount of wilted mixed lettuce with a couple of beansprouts in for some reason. £3.25 for a plastic bowl of chips! Staff members were exactly pleasant but maybe they’re just sick of working over the festive period. We left with full tummies but I wouldn’t recommend as there’s far nicer places.

I was recommended by Deniy delli who was closed for refurbishment unfortunately as I wanted to treat my mam to a lovely experience. Upon arrival was greeted at the entrance and shown to a table with such amazing view of the city Berwick-upon-Tweed. I had already reviewed the menu online and my mam chose at the table . I struggle to eat at present due to illness, but I enjoyed the meal that much I ate everything on my plate it was absolutely lovely. I had read a few reviews beforehand and wow the reviews were spot on. Even changed my train times to spend a bit more time there. This was such a lovely place ,food and staff are 5 star.i recommended this this place to anyone wether be a small bite or dining it's a must for me we were there for well over an hour as it was so relaxing and enjoying so glad I went. My mam said she couldn't of had a better day out. Thank so much to the staff. Even the prices were very good. Definitely visit here☆☆☆☆☆

Lovely warm greeting on arrival and I was led to a window seat (often as a solo diner you are hidden away in a corner). It is well laid out with plenty of space between the tables, and everywhere is immaculately clean. There is a great choice of menu with lots of specials, and service seemed to be good whether you were having a coffee or a full meal. I had the fishcakes, which were lovely - with a drink and coffee the bill came to around £19. A great choice if in Berwick

Chips are tricky, as finding good ones that actually started with a potato in the kitchen and arrives on your plate piping hot, crisp and not greasy is seemingly a big ask in many establishments. But not so here. Their chips were perfect, the best I've had in years. The battered cod goujons with chips, coleslaw, a neat salad garnish and homemade tartar sauce were all simply devine. Faultless in fact.I've eaten here previously and the standards have steadily improved, this visit was perfection. The staff are friendly and attentive, the service is prompt, the interior is clean and has a lovely ambiance, so all-in-all a winner. And the pricing is very very reasonable too.VERY highly recommended.

I was very impressed with this delightful eatery slightly hidden away inside The Maltings. The menu read very well and there was something for most tastes on it. I went for the cod goujons with chips and salad and it was superb. The chips clearly started with a potato in the kitchen and were perfectly served with the fish... all piping hot and non greasy. The portions are generous so sadly I didn't have room for a pudding, maybe next time I'll have the quiche with a salad, that should allow me to enjoy the very good looking sweets and cakes.

Coffee and scones come at a premium here. The "scones" are triangular things that seem to be made with egg because the texture is cakey, unsconelike and they are irritatingly too crumbly to spread with butter. The cheese ones have a odd tang about them.No Scot would order them. Coffee is indifferent. The cakes are expensive but very well made. The place is not relaxing because of the intrusive piped music and echoing accoustics.Saw one lady ask to have it turned down but still irritating.A lot of disabilities are affected by this. A potentially stunning view of the river is blocked by tall tables and high stools which most of the elderly clientele can't use. Frustrating - this could be a great venue. Not a place for a quiet chat with a friend or a telaxing cuppa.Service seems to have improved recently.

Have been going for a coffee at least once a week. Ordered our usual of two coffees, one with cream, one black. Noise level has been accelerating as more people came in. Have to speak loudly to be heard. Fair enough but we got our biggest shock when we paid. The price went from £4.70 to £5.10 for the coffees, more than anyone else charges . I looked at the bill when I left and we were charged for a little drop of cream , 40p. I phoned and asked and girl on phone said that was in error but in the background, I heard a voice and she changed what she said and said the owner decided to now charge for cream, not milk...cream. To an OAP that is a big increase. We go to many other cafes who charge less for a small coffee and the cream is always free. We will not be returning to such a greedy place to up the cost of coffee by such a huge rise, where everyone else charges nothing

Catching up with an old friend for the first time in many years, we opted to meet at the half way point between Newcastle and Edinburgh, in Berwick and I was left to choose where to dine. The Maltings came as a recommendation and despite driving round the town several times to find it (tucked away behind the main street), this was a great choice. The Maltings is the local theatre and cinema (great programme of upcoming events) but also has an inhouse Restaurant and Bar - the Maltings Kitchen. We were visiting on a Saturday lunchtime – I had been previously advised that I couldn’t reserve a table but there were a few tables available when we arrived. There was an extensive choice of foods – from soup of the day to pasta, quiche, salads and sandwiches not to mention the Specials of the Day. It is waitress service and we did not have to wait too long for either service or food. We both opted for the quiche with salad – delicious and had coffees which were well made. The restaurant is licenced so you can also have a wee alcoholic beverage to accompany your meal! Prices were reasonable and it is a definitely a place to which we will return – only down side was the limited parking outside which was disc controlled – for anyone living outside of Northumberland, this can be a pain if you haven’t already got a disc but you can purchase them for £1 from various dispensing machines.

There is a good atmosphere and sense of space here, creating somewhere you want to sit and spend time. Sometimes cafes attached to arts venues fall short on the food, but this is an exception to that rule. The food is always good, and the menu caters for a range of tastes. Just writing this review is making me hungry and anticipating my next lunch. As you would expect of any quality café, getting in early for a lunch table is advised, as they do get busy. However, the staff are helpful and efficient, so waiting has never been an issue.

The great thing about the Maltings Restaurant is the car park! Free parking (with a parking disc) right outside the door! In Berwick, this is virtually unique... And the food is good too. Service is quick, and drinks reasonably priced. Great views over the rooftops of Berwick to the Estuary and Tweedmouth as you eat. When the Flying Scotsman came North a few weeks ago, they made a special event of it going over the Union Bridge into Berwick. How cool is that? Two things - you need to check opening times - can be erratic - and look for the Specials on the blackboard as you come in as you can't see them when seated

The Maltings Kichen is quite a cosy affair, very busy with 'ladies who Lunch' and popular with locals and tourists alike. You know you're onto a good thing if it's busy with the locals. Some of the food was superb, the quiche and salad were very light and bursting with flavour, the chips were very moreish, they do a very good Cheese and Mustard scone too, all good choices. On this occasion I chose the Cullen Skink, and what a mistake that was.Cullen Skink, when done right is a wholesome affair, creamy with large chunks of potato and smoked haddock. What I received was a very poor imitation. The consistency was a watered down affair, similar to a consomme. The large chunks of potato and flakes smoked haddock was replaced with small chopped potato, what I assume was Celery, and as for the haddock, the combined minuscule pieces would have covered a 50p piece, and his was all covered with pieces of chopped chive. To be fair, it did come with bread, so thankfully there was something to mop up the liquid, otherwise you could have consumed this through a straw. If even Baxters can do a passible Cullen Skink, and I don't believe it's a soup that should come in a can, always home made or from a restaurant in capable hands, this really was a shocker.I want it to be clear, that this doesn't reflect on the overall quality of food from the Maltings, it really does some fantastic dishes, I believe on this occasion, I just found the chefs Achilles heal, which is why I have to mark it down 1 from Very good to Average.

I brought my daughter here as it is my favourite eaterie in Berwick. I like to sit overlooking the roof tops and as it was very busy, had to come back later, but it is always worth it.We had olives and bread as a starter to share- the portion is generous- and wine with it.I enjoyed quiche with three salads from the specials board and my daughter, the fish cakes. The food was great as usual and the service attentive.I can highly recommend this place.

Brought a visiting friend from Glasgow, who loved the view and location. We had cheese soufflé, ( the best in town), and coconut breaded chicken which was lovely

Took my wife there before a show, again. You may have to book in advance as they are often very busy. We both always have a great meal here. The soufflé in mouth wateringly lovely! Any fish dishes are great and if you are fussy like I am just ask for exactly what you want extra or missed out and they will kindly oblige The new staff are very quick and attentive and always smile! Whilst David and Leslie are always good hosts.

Lovely cafe within the cinema complex. Good atmosphere and elrfext for a snack. I had the Cullen skink, a delicious fish/potato soup. Will definitely go back when we are next in Berwick. Good atmosphere, friendly service.

Tucked in off the main street and part of the local cinema this was a pleasant surprise for us. Came here for morning coffee. Clearly a VERY popular place for locals and they should know best. There is a small carpark adjoining - where we were lucky - but I can imagine parking is often impossible. The coffee was pretty good - probably the best we had had in the Borders during our 4 day stay (though that's not saying much!). The scones were delicious and the menu for lunch looked really quite appealing. If the scones were anything to go by then lunch would have been terrific. Staff: really pleasant and friendly. Highly recommended. Possibly best coffee place in Berwick according to locals.

Ate here at lunchtime and was very impressed with the quality of food on offer. There is a specials board as well as a printed menu.Seating is well spaced and the dining area is attractive with various paintings etc on show around the walls. There is a pleasant atmosphere, staff are attentive but not obtrusive; my order was taken quickly and my food arrived quite soon afterwards. It was delicious , as was my treat of a pear and almond tart, also from the specials board. Prices are reasonable too. This is a great place for lunch. There is also free parking , although this can be tight on a busy day.

We went to the restaurant just after it opened in the evening and so it was quite quiet. We sat close to the windows and enjoyed the view. Food was good, reasonably priced and the portion was decent. I particularly liked the selection of cakes in the counter.

We both had rump steak sandwich on ciabatta ,onion ,butter mayonnaise, chips and salad . Good atmosphere and views from the windows of restaurant over town and river .Thoroughly enjoyable lunch frequented by locals and visitors who visit for food made by excellent local chef.

First visit and booked for a pre-theatre dinner menu for four. David and is staff were very attentive throughout. The waitress had an excellent knowledge of the menu and all food was freshly prepared. The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was good the 'hub-hub of conversation and laughter from other diners. It was a sunny warm evening with the added bonus of seeing the 'Flying Scotsman' transit the on it way to Edinburgh. Try something from the special menu you won't be disappointed.

As one of a group of cyclists from Newcastle Great Park, it’s always a good stop off before the final stretch back home. Butties and a drink 👍, along with friendly service. Courtyard round the back is great when the weather allows.

Fabulous food with a large menu. Reasonably priced with large portions.Very friendly staff and attentive service.Loved the Spanakopta starter and the Lamb Kleftico.Good choices for chicken dishes. The breakfasts are varied and tasty. The best of all was the Sunday lunch with 5 choices of meat, just fabulous.

Played today, Mon 26th August, Great layout, but sadly the greens are diseased and awful, and the tee boxes are terrible, very expensive bar, and no food being served, even though there was a competition on, and the bar was busy, Sadly one to miss in the future.
