We stayed here whilst walking Hadrian's wall. It is such a friendly and welcoming place where the owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food was delicious, freshly cooked and tasty. The room was beautiful with a lovely bed that allowed for a good night's sleep. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

The staff were very welcoming, even ushering us inside with the dog as it was a tad windy/cold. The venue looks great and was nice and cozy inside.Coffee's - shame they are not 'proper' Cappuccinos (though they were nicely done)and the Cakes, were very nice, though as others have mentioned not homemade, but equally they were very nice and enjoyed by all of us.

We stayed at The Simonburn on our Hadrian's Wall walk. We arrived in Chollerford tired but happy, called Soraya and were promptly picked up by Dave and taken to the B&B.This couple are such incredible hosts and made us feel completely at home. I had spoken with Soraya already to organise an evening meal, which she cooked for us specially. It was delicious. After dinner we sat in the beautiful gardens before taking advantage of the honesty bar.Rooms are very well appointed, clean and cosy.Breakfast was also excellent.Dave has a very good reflector telescope for guests, to allow you to take advantage of the incredible dark skies in Northumbria.I would recommend this B&B without reserve.

A friend and I called here for a mid-morning coffee and cake earlier today. I wish it had been later in the day, or that we had been hungrier, as I was very tempted by the lunch items on the extensive menu.If it had been a sunnier day, I am sure it would have been lovely to sit out in the beautifully kept garden. The cakes were served in generous slices, with cream and a few fresh berries as garnish. I had the, obviously homemade, Victoria Sponge. This was delightfully light and moist, just how it should be (but seldom is). In fact, I made a special point of remarking on this to the lady whom I assumed to be the proprietor. The tea room is clean, and the decor is modern. I think I would have expected something a little more traditional, but that is simply a matter of my taste. There is a large sign on the wall - 'Service with a smile'. Regretfully, this seemed to have bypassed the girl who showed us to out table and served us. The waitress was sullen, and gave the impression that she did not want to be there, and was simply going through the motions. A large family group arrived whilst my friend and I were there, and she was as unwelcoming to them as well. In particular, I noticed that four of them wanted the same thing, Quiche, I think it was. "There's only three" was the response. Maybe a response like - "I'm really sorry but we only have three left, they have been really popular this morning, but would you like to try xxxx instead?" Woukd have conveyed the same message in a more customer friendly way...Her attitude contrasted with that of the older lady who we paid. It is a pity as it left a bitter taste to the amazing cake.

Previous review was 11 June - excellent. Lovely quiet garden, birdsong the only sound. Visited again today - not so good (as far as we’re concerned) due to music being played over speakers in the garden. It appears that today was the first day they’ve used music. Before we visit again we will phone to see if music is being played - and if so will go elsewhere for a quiet coffee etc.

A gorgeous setting with a beautiful garden and well spaced tables. Tea was piping hot and service was good. However we were somewhat disappointed with the food. We ordered fruit scones and a pice of chocolate cake, expecting homemade produce. The scone was plain (not fruit) and it had been microwaved, which meant it soon went stale. The chocolate cake was obviously not homemade. Whilst the location, venue and the service all get full marks, unfortunately the food we had was mediocre.

It’s a bit off the main road- 1 mile- from the road to Wark but well worth the visit. Also it’s licensed so can have a beer or a alcoholic beverage if you’re so minded . Stopped at this place on a whim whilst on holiday in the area, having seen the sign at the side of the road. I’m sorry to say that the food was disappointing. Soup was lukewarm & tasteless and the very basic sandwich was uninviting - similar to one intended for a fussy child’s lunchbox. For the price paid, we expected a bit more. There is one toilet for customers & it was desperately in need of a thorough clean. The toilet bowl itself was awful, the hand soap had run out & the ancient electric hand dryer would not function. There was a filthy looking blue hand towel hanging right beside the toilet bowl for all to use. Needless to say, our jeans did the trick instead. Such a shame, the waitress was very friendly and the garden beautiful however we wouldn’t return or recommend.

I stayed here for one night before beginning my Hadrian's Wall Path hike. Soraya and Dave Tilson could not have been nicer or more accommodating: coffee and cookies on arrival, a snug room of my own, and an absolutely delicious dinner that evening. Dave drove me to the starting point the next morning and told me to call if I had any trouble along the route. And I knew he meant it and would come to my rescue if necessary! The B&B; is lovely and the nearby church and churchyard well worth a visit.

Beautiful B&B; with lovely owners who are willing to lend a hand with almost anything you can think of. From drawing maps of the surrounding area, giving advice on where to eat (and offering to drive you there and back), to checking your car before you go back home!

We stayed here as the last stop on a 2 day walk along the wall. The location is just lovely - a cute village tucked away from the main road and a fantastic place to end up at after what become something of an epic last day of walking. We were made to feel so welcome - nothing was too much trouble and the rooms are as idyllic as the pictures suggest.

What a lovely little find. We stopped by to visit the tea room and were ever so impressed with it. We sat in the beautiful garden, complete with baby and dog. We were made to feel ever so welcome. The service was impeccable and the staff ever so friendly. The food was simple but tasty, and the cake delicious. We will definitely be back to stay for the night!

The hosts Soraya and Dave picked us up at the pub where we had our dinner after walking to Chollerford along Hadrian's Wall. Staying at their B&B made us feel as though we were staying with friends. From the moment they picked us up they made us feel very much at home. When we were unpacking, I realized I had left my phone at the pub. Dave kindly offered to take us back to the pub to retrieve the phone. They have a lovely garden and we could see the garden from our upstairs room. My only regret is that we did not reach Simonburn earlier in the day. I would have loved to spend some time in the garden. We had excellent full English breakfast in the morning. As Dave drove us back to Hadrian's Wall, he told us not to hesitate to call him if any one of us needed a lift to our next B&B any time during the day!

We Followed the signs from the Chollerford to Wark road, down a country lane to Simonburn and discovered a charming farmhouse tea room.Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. We both had the all day breakfast and a skinny late both of which were excellent. Obviously good quality produce had been used and it was nicely presented.Good range of food on the menu and very reasonably priced. The tea room was very clean, tidy, pleasantly arranged and comfortable with a lovely period fireplace. Some of the tables had views over the beautifully kept gardenWe would definitely visit again

We visited after reading reviews and were not disappointed. To get there you drive down gorgeous country lanes & the scenery is fab. The sandwiches & paninis were very nice, served with salad & crisps. Tables were set nicely and tea was in a china pot with proper cups & saucers. The staff were lovely and service was excellent. The tearoom also sells groceries. They garden was gorgeous & there was plenty of seating outside . The village is quintessentially English with the village green, beautiful cottages & a gorgeous church with an impressive lychgate and interesting history. Definitely worth a visit.

In a gorgeous location, plus the added bonus of a beautiful garden, if you prefer to sit outside, this is definitely worth a visit when in the area. With a good range of homemade cakes, scones and freshly prepared delights, there is something for everyone. A big thank you to the staff (owners and young waitress) who were all very welcoming and friendly, and didn't mind at all that we arrived less than half an hour before official closing time and we certainly didn't feel pressured to rush. We will be definitely be back soon.

Having lived in Northumberland for many years it is wonderful that there are still fantastic places I haven't visited. So when seeing the sign to Simonburn Tea Rooms just off the road to Wark we were delighted to discover this wonderful tea room and the lovely village of Simonburn. The tea rooms offered just what was needed - a great range of home cooked food, with friendly service - although I guess the service would get stretched if if got very busy. The gardens looked lovely but we stayed inside to enjoy the welcoming open fire - yes, in July! Do wander into the church (which was open); the parish of Simonburn has a fascinating history, as is so often the case in Northumberland. Will be returning here sooner rather than later.

We came upon these glorious tearooms by the happy chance of seeing their wayside advert. Drove down a pretty country lane into the tiny hamlet of Simonburn, beautiful old church some lovely old cottages and a village green, but the glory is the tearooms.I admit we were so very fortunate to arrive just before mid day on a brilliantly warm sunny day, we were immediately given a really warm welcome and we took our seats in the shade in the beautiful garden, we were a party of three of us and we had each a light lunch which was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient the food was delicious, if you are ever in Northumbria then beat a path to this wonderful place, even if the weather is awful (dear old English weather) the indoor tearoom is delightful, visiting Simonburn Tearoom is a must, honestly you will not be disappointed

We were visiting a local attraction, who recommended this tearoom to us for lunch. This was a great idea. The range of food was good as was the quality. The staff were lovely and we got to meet the gorgeous dog, a tibetan terrier, who although deaf was a lovely soul. We will go again if we are anywhere near this spot.

When you go for tea what do you look for? For me it's good food, good service & a good location, all three can be found here. We took our wheelchair bound parents here for a mid morning coffee & ended up eating lunch (or all day breakfast for some) under a parasol in the garden. I cannot recommend the tea rooms highly enough & we'll be visiting again whenever we have visitors.

I've lived in Simonburn for almost 9 years and before Dave and Soraya took over last year I only ever popped in to buy wine. Now my other half and I find ourselves going in to savour the fabulous food over a bottle of wine and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere. Dave and Soraya have transformed the tearoom and shop not to mention the stunning B&B rooms! In all the years I've lived here I've never seen so many locals enjoying the place too! We've sat outside in the tearoom gardens enjoying hot beef dips with roast potatoes and a bottle of wine, whilst laughing that we could be in our own garden just 3 doors away eating our own food etc.... it's simply that good, we will continue to enjoy this little gem right on our doorstep.

After our late-morning walk we called at the Tearoom in Simonburn for a deserved snack. The Tearoom also doubles as the village shop and the well-maintained front garden also boasts comfortable outdoor seating. We opted to sit inside where visitors were tucking into lunch or snacks. We ordered milkshakes and a latte and three pieces of cake; Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle and chocolate cake. All cakes came served with a swirl of cream and a piece of fresh fruit - strawberry or blueberries. And they were all delicious. The Vic sponge was light; the jam and cream filling was moreish. My favourite!Staff were efficient and the tables were set with vintage china cups and fresh flowers. A pleasant visit.

Staff were very friendly, the food was very nice and not overly priced, there was a decent selection of beers, including two cask ales and the place was clean and interestingly decorated. Would defini
