We had a lovely stay here while on a walk along Hadrian's Wall. Christine picked us up at the museum, providing some local history and color along the way. Simonburn is a delightful, tiny little village with a church, some homes and the tea room; that's about it. The tea room has a lovely garden, and there's a comfortable kitchen/dining area where we enjoyed a really yummy dinner and then breakfast the next morning. Christine and her daughter were lovely hosts and we enjoyed visiting with them and the other guests.

Came past the signs for this please as few times before we decided to stop, well signposted from the main road which is good situated in a small cosy village. Tea rooms it's self set in nice grounds, plenty of parking, garden area well maintained and plenty of seating outside if you wanted to sit outside, we choose to sit inside, missed the breakfast menu by about half and hour or so which was a shame as menu for breakfast looked really nice and not that expensive either. Anyway we opted for 2 mocha's which we were a bit disappointed with as they only offered whole milk or oat or soya and no chance or skimmed or semi skimmed, though the 2 jacket potato's with cheese and beans was very good and nice salad and crisps to go with it. Inside was very clear and decorative staff friendly and helpful.

We had breakfast here on Sunday 8th September while on a bike ride. We received a warm welcome and were immediately given a jug of water while we placed our order, which was a lovely touch. We sat in the garden and had coffee and a lovely cooked breakfast. Simonburn is a pretty little village and we will definitely be back to the tearoom when we are next in the area.

Big improvement from the previous visit. Food is at the standard hungry cyclists need. Good reason to go back. Towards the end of the previous owners tenure the food standards plummeted to ma very poor level. That could have affected the view taken last time but it is clear food quality has improved.

A Beautiful hidden gem of a B&B & Tea Room . Stunning location , Fabulously decorated the art work is a wow ! We were cold & soaked through from the walk , so comforting to find two fires on. Amazing afternoon tea followed by a high powered shower in our immaculate room. Disappointing. This place had a good reputation amongst cyclists for quality fare, at a reasonable price. The new owners have not managed to replicate what it used to be like. The food is below average. Things will need to improve if to be tempted back. Better quality bread, sausage, bacon, cakes would make all the difference. Hopefully the new owners have misjudged what cyclists and walkers need. It can be a goldmine if they get it right.

The setting of this tearoom is idyllic with a peaceful garden and water fountain. We stopped for food with two small children but unfortunately we were told they were only serving cakes at 3pm and no lunches were being served. We were with my parents who had their dog on a lead. My mother dropped the lead by accident and she was told quickly as she was going to pick the lead up to keep hold of her dog by a waitress. We asked this waitress if there was anywhere else to eat and she said she didn't know as she went off to set up in the village for the local fayre. As we left another dog came to greet us....a dog that was not on a lead and roaming about. Beautiful setting and location but didn't find this welcoming and less than helpful. Unfortunately they lost business and we took our business somewhere else who was happy to accommodate.

A friend and I called here for a mid-morning coffee and cake earlier today. I wish it had been later in the day, or that we had been hungrier, as I was very tempted by the lunch items on the extensive menu.If it had been a sunnier day, I am sure it would have been lovely to sit out in the beautifully kept garden. The cakes were served in generous slices, with cream and a few fresh berries as garnish. I had the, obviously homemade, Victoria Sponge. This was delightfully light and moist, just how it should be (but seldom is). In fact, I made a special point of remarking on this to the lady whom I assumed to be the proprietor. The tea room is clean, and the decor is modern. I think I would have expected something a little more traditional, but that is simply a matter of my taste. There is a large sign on the wall - 'Service with a smile'. Regretfully, this seemed to have bypassed the girl who showed us to out table and served us. The waitress was sullen, and gave the impression that she did not want to be there, and was simply going through the motions. A large family group arrived whilst my friend and I were there, and she was as unwelcoming to them as well. In particular, I noticed that four of them wanted the same thing, Quiche, I think it was. "There's only three" was the response. Maybe a response like - "I'm really sorry but we only have three left, they have been really popular this morning, but would you like to try xxxx instead?" Woukd have conveyed the same message in a more customer friendly way...Her attitude contrasted with that of the older lady who we paid. It is a pity as it left a bitter taste to the amazing cake.

Previous review was 11 June - excellent. Lovely quiet garden, birdsong the only sound. Visited again today - not so good (as far as we’re concerned) due to music being played over speakers in the garden. It appears that today was the first day they’ve used music. Before we visit again we will phone to see if music is being played - and if so will go elsewhere for a quiet coffee etc.

A gorgeous setting with a beautiful garden and well spaced tables. Tea was piping hot and service was good. However we were somewhat disappointed with the food. We ordered fruit scones and a pice of chocolate cake, expecting homemade produce. The scone was plain (not fruit) and it had been microwaved, which meant it soon went stale. The chocolate cake was obviously not homemade. Whilst the location, venue and the service all get full marks, unfortunately the food we had was mediocre.

Stopped at this place on a whim whilst on holiday in the area, having seen the sign at the side of the road. I’m sorry to say that the food was disappointing. Soup was lukewarm & tasteless and the very basic sandwich was uninviting - similar to one intended for a fussy child’s lunchbox. For the price paid, we expected a bit more. There is one toilet for customers & it was desperately in need of a thorough clean. The toilet bowl itself was awful, the hand soap had run out & the ancient electric hand dryer would not function. There was a filthy looking blue hand towel hanging right beside the toilet bowl for all to use. Needless to say, our jeans did the trick instead. Such a shame, the waitress was very friendly and the garden beautiful however we wouldn’t return or recommend.

Very personable and warm and attentive. The whole flavor of the experience was first class. The house was very comfortable and all the food was freshly prepared and delicious.A couple of neighbors dropped by for a chat and it was so much fun!! If you are on the wall or near Hexham, this spot is a must!

Our tea and coffees were correctly served in traditional china. The scones were so light and fluffy. This is a wee gem on a place and well worth a visit.

A group of us cycled up from Newcastle area and was greeted very warmly and with it being a hot glorious day, immediately received two large jugs of iced water without even asking for it. The menu and cost was very good, the service was friendly and polite. Will definitely come back again when. Thank you!

This was our second stay in the B&B; and we were not disappointed. Hosts, Suraya and Dave are wonderful. The breakfasts are plentiful and fabulous. The setting is perfect. Dark skies for an astronomer, picturesque countryside for anyone who appreciates the outdoors. Great attention to detail in the bedrooms too. Thank you for an amazing weekend.

BIG welcome, amazing broth, masses of sarnies, lovely fire - fabulous in every respect. Ideally located on the Sandstone Way MTB route and loved by everyone who calls in or stays overnight.

A lovely quaint tea house with great cakes, scones and teas. Just one thing - please get rid of the televisions which spoil the experience. No-one is watching them and they detract from the quaintness and ambience of the place.

Having pack up our soggy tent in the least wet window of the weather forecast (too early to recall) we ended up on the road earlier than expect, too early for breakfast at Kielder Water so we carried on driving and my husband looked out for signs of food.

What a lovely tranquil place, gorgeous scones and tea, charming room or sit out in the perfectly English garden, with a choice of garden furniture. I would highly recommend.

Stopped for breakfast while away Glamping. Met by the owner who was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and cooked us a beautiful breakfast. Mushrooms were delicious (lots of people struggle to cook mushrooms to perfection) hubby enjoyed his too. Black pudding and sausages awesome too. Lovely big pot of tea and coffee with refills and set in a beautiful location. Thank you again for quality and service. Very nice start to my day.

The first B&B; Hillwalktours booked for us on our Hadrianspath hike and what a nice place it is! Big garden, beautiful cosy rooms and good beers, wines and ciders on the honesty bar.

The owners are wonderful, welcoming people. Good meal in the evening, great breakfast and perfect rooms. Dave picked us up in Chollerford and dropped us off the next morning and kept reminding us to call him if we ran in any trouble (as it was going to be a warm day). If you need a place to stay along the trail in the area of Chollerford, stay here!

I’ve stayed at a lot of nice places but this was one of the best. The owners are warm and welcoming and treat you like an old friend. Great breakfast and evening meal as well. Got a piece of fruitcake to go for my Hadrian’s Wall hike and it was excellent.

Met a friend and had a fantastic sausage sandwich each. Lots of other things on the menu, and it's worth checking out their cabinets with lots of pies and cakes.

Just went in for lunch, not sure of accommodation services. Lovely choices on menu and food was delicious. Staff were understanding of a disability and attentive to adjustments if required. One chicken goujon sandwich, one posh fish finger sandwich and one Steak & Ale pie with mushy peas. All with hand cut chips. Fish fingers and chicken goujons were freshly battered and more than adequate portions. Delcious. Chips were best we have had for a long time. Heaps of beautofully braised steak in pie and the tastiest gravy! Can be accessed from front (main high street) or rear (through beer garden, outside of which there are multiple car parks). One of our party struggles with mobility and had a four wheel Walker. Both entrances have access ramps and although a few steps, there is a hand rail available and were manageable for her. Definitely recommend. Will be back.
