Just arrived Bath in the cold and feeling like warm lunch. Went into Piieminister - ordered a Moo pie and steak & Kidney. Both beautiful and filling. Longish edit but tasted fresh and piping hot so no complaints. Excellent waitress and service. Photo shows pjes half eaten - we couldn’t wait to get started !

Without question the food here is creative and nearly everything we had was very good indeed. The design of the restaurant was also lovely and staff were welcoming and courteous. However, having sat down at 7.30pm it was close to 11pm when we had to ask for the dessert treats to be boxed up to take away….everything was so painfully slow. If we hadn’t have said anything we would have been well over 3.5hours which spoilt the experience for us.

I’m afraid I have to agree with the previous review: we had booked for a large lunch party of 25, and there was only one chef working. We had long waits, easily 20mins between the first person being served a course and the last person getting theirs. My skewer was charcoal black having been over-cooked and my colleague couldn’t eat the “green Thai curry” because it was tasteless and came with chicken on the bone (presumably as that is cheaper to buy in than boneless). Most of the dessert options seemed pre-bought rather than homemade. We won’t be coming back!

My fiancée and I recently visited The Crook and Shears, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed by a cosy atmosphere and friendly locals, making it feel like a true countryside gem. The highlight, without a doubt, was the food. I ordered the daily special, and the local gammon was hands down the best I’ve ever tasted – perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The pub has a warm, inviting charm, and the owners were incredibly attentive. Whether you're looking for a great meal or just a relaxed spot to enjoy a drink, this place is a must-visit! They’re even dog friendly and we saw plenty of friendly pups to say hello to. Highly recommend.

We popped down to Quidhampton for the village fireworks hosted by the White Horse. Absolutely AMAZING evening; Fireworks were fabulous (probably 25 minutes of impressive show), DJ Dion kept the kids entertained at a great family friendly disco event in a marquee, there were sparklers for the kids and the bar and grill were a great addition. Queues were significant at times, but not surprising given the popularity of the event. Having been out of the country for a few years, this was our kids' first proper firework night and its going to take some beating. Thank you Quidhampton and the White Horse, we'll be back!
