Chip are so expensive and have a funny aftertaste. Gravy is really runny and tastes like rubbish gravy granules (the worst gravy I've ever had).

Last 2 orders have been disappointing. Not as good as it used to be

We go here for our pre match fish and chips. Very welcoming pleasant and polite. The service is excellent and the fish and chips are cooked fresh and are one of the best if not the best we have tasted. Highly recommended for a visit. Once tried you will return.

Totally amazed about how well, the food was cooked and taking care of, packaged and delivered still crunchy piping hot. The portions were also very generous. Overall best chip shop experience I’ve had yet.

Visited tonight as was staying at the parkdean resort nearby.tried Paul's plaice chippy once as was nearer...vile,disgusting chips so tried this and what a delight.friendly from the word off,gave my 6 year old some sweets while we waited.very reasonably prices.£6 something for a cod! well that's way cheaper than my rip off southern England.As they were nearing closing they said did I want anything free like more sausages.i couldn't turn it down.Fantastic place if you want brilliant food,a friendly face and good value.Thanks for a brilliant meal.Michael

The best chippy I have been in for a very long time. Despite there being a large queue due to a football match at Plainmoor, the staff was so organised and the food was excellent. We will certainly revisit when in Torquay again

Had to wait ages for food. Standing room only due to the 4 chairs being occupied. Staff were polite enough and friendly but unprofessional. Hair unkempt, no aprons, one staff member wearing slippers. Food was nice enough but wouldnt rush back.

Good quality food at a reasonable price served by friendly staff

Heard good things about this chippy so while staying in Torquay over the weekend we took our chance and had tea delivered, even though there was another chippy just by us! Fish, chips, cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, mushy peas and curry sauce later we were stuffed and happy as such great quality and value for money, you won't be disappointed. From placing order with one lovely lady to the meal being delivered by another lovely lady, it was a pleasant experience from start to finish :D The only advice we would give is to order lunch time for evening delivery as so popular.

We get our fish and chips delivered by Lisa who is a smashing lady. Very friendly she always has time to have a chat. She delivers the fish and chips with a lovely smile. The quality of the fish is superb. I would recommend them all the time.

Best takeaway in Torquay! The staff are so friendly and the service is fast and so easy to phone up and order delivery. The food arrives quickly and by a lovely driver, we are so grateful we could order from here while we were on holiday 2 nights in a row! This has to be the best chippy in the area. I like to think I’ve been to most of the chippies in Torquay and this is seriously the best. The batter is the crispiest. The chips are the largest. The curry sauce is the best I’ve ever had. My personal recommendation would be the smoked haddock fish cake! As far as fish and chips go, you won’t find better! Well done guys. I’ll be back again next week :-)

Holidaying locally in an appartment, take-away fish & chips are a must. Can highly recommend the haddock and chips, freshly cooked to order, and the smoked haddock fishcake and chips. Beautifully cooked chunky chips which were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. Clearly using clean oil and taking pride in their produce. Mushy peas were a little too pureed for my taste but the curry sauce was delicious. Would have had take-away every night if we hadn't already made plans elsewhere. Great to see as much recyclable packaging used as possible. Top quality local chippy!

Amazing food and a very friendly service!Staff were very accommodating and the food order was swift and well presented. Great taste and texture to all the food. Yes I ate some of the kids nuggets and my wife never finishes her food, so I can safely say that the northern fishcakes, the large fish and the chicken nuggets are delicious with a fantastically light batter! The premises were clean and bright and the restaurant area, although small is well laid out. Thankyou for a lovely lunchtime treat!

Used to use this place regularly. I think it has been taken over. Collected 2 chicken and chips a little while ago. Disappointing. Gave it a second go tonight, large cod and chips. Chips were just about acceptable. Fish was dreadful. Thick batter hard on the outside and barely cooked inside. I am so sorry but not going back again.

Second time of visiting and it is the easily the best chippie in the bay. Sat in and had the regular cod 'n' chips with homemade mushy peas. Absolutly delicious, spotless Cafe and the owners are really friendly and welcoming. Definitely give it a try!

Over all the service was good as was the food. I can't give it 5 stars for the following reasons. 1 the pie was warm not hot and 2 was the over packaging of the food. It's nice that everything has its own box but you cannot recycle food wrappings with fat stains so not as eco friendly as they could be

Traditional fish and chips at its finest, the fish is fresh & tasty with golden crispy batter and beautiful homemade tartar sauce. The chips are fluffy and fried to perfection. The staff are warm and welcoming and the new owners are a breath of fresh air. I also tried the spam fritter from the specials board and was immediately transported back to my childhood. The best chippy in Torquay and well worth a visit, you won't regret it.

We had an excellent fish and chip supper here on Monday. Fresh fish, good chips, really crispy batter, yummy homemade tartare sauce.

Always a bit dubious when a new owner takes over an establishment that you frequently visit but i've got to say they are, if not, better than previous. Previous owner left a lot to be desired in the customer service dept but luckily, that had no effect on the food. However the new owners are very warm and welcoming and have already started to introduce new items on the menu and maintain the level of quality that a customer would expect from a decent chippy. I've been informed that a cheesy bean (with a hint of worcester sauce) fritter is being introduced next week so i can't wait to sample that! excellent!! keep up the good work! Also, now open lunchtimes in the week (except Mondays) which is already an improvement than just a Friday.

Always enjoy the food here but completely put off by the man who works there. I have been in twice and felt uncomfortable by the way he speaks to his staff. The 3rd time I've been in he was completely rude about a customer in front of the customer themselves and everyone else in the chip shop. Would have got a 4* if the rude man didn't work there.

We had take away Lemon sole, Cod and Battered sausage all were cooked to order and were great quality. This is undoubtedly the best fish and chip shop in Torquay and is open every day except Sunday.

By far the best quality fish and chips in Torquay. Much nicer than Hanburys and much more reasonably priced too. The staff are friendly and there are chairs to sit on while you wait.

We go here regular and it has never been bad for us we go every week and have the fish and chips small size which is plenty for me kids have nuggets it has always been spot on it has to be up there with the best,if there was one thing it could change it would be those awfull pukka pies but some people must like them. And they are always well cooked as my daughter has them and she likes them.It is well worth calling in and keep an eye on the specials board if the purse strings are tight they do some good deals sometimes.

This is somewhere I highly recommend. Food is always cooked fresh while you wait and you never have to wait too long either. Excellent service and always service with a smile. You also have the opportunity to eat inside if you want to. There is on road parking, which 9 times out of 10 you can get a space.

We went on a Tuesday early evening. Whilst the takeaway counter was very busy, we were the only people in the small restaurant part. A lady quickly came and took our orders. I had the pie chips and gravy and my girlfriend had the regular size cod and chips. The food was simply excellent. Her cod was a very generous size and the chips were absolutely perfect. Whilst the decor is not in the same league as Hanbury's, the food is even better. And, of course, a good deal less expensive.

Having been for a drink in Torquay on Saturday evening my wife and I decided to have a portion of Haddock and Chips (£6.25) on the way back to our B&B; in Bickington and we found it excellent ( freshly cooked Haddock succulent and moist, crispy Chips on the outside and fluffy inside).

I visited this FANTASTIC food outlet on 24th June 2017 on the final day of my Torquay holiday and WOW!!! what a little gem of a place it is. On entering I was greeted by Mr Dave Stevens (The Owner) who has a very spacious, well lit and spotlessly clean shop and runs a tight shift and takes a great deal of pride in the appearance, preparation and presentation of everything that he and his highly trained and motivated staff serves. The Counter Assistant and Server on MY visit and on the weekend rota, was a very happy and friendly and pristeenly clean lady called Lisa Sokell (On week days you will be served by an equally motivated Counter Assistant called Sandra O'Brien) who quickly took my order, escorted me to my table and presented my chosen meal of choice (Large Battered Haddock, Real Chunky Chips and Curry Sauce and a Pot of Tea for One...ALL of this for only £10!!!! EXCELLENT value for money!!) which was piping hot, well seasoned and VERY filling and I ate EVERY last morcel and would have gladly licked my plate clean....it was that good. You really MUST visit 'The Usual Plaice' Fish and Chip Shop the next time you come to Torquay and ask for Dave, Lisa and Sandra who are ALL Happy, Helpful and HIGHLY Customer Focused in everything that they do. 10 out of 10 out of 10 T E N times over!!!!!!
