Credit where credits due the fish and chips here were great with a good sized portion followed by a cold beer. The staff were very polite and helpful and the meal was cooked within 10 minutes even though it was very busy...well done guys

I try a lot of different fish and chip shops around the south west and I must say this was one of the best I've had in a while! Chips were good quality, nice and crisp and full of flavour. Large cod cooked in a lovely batter, portion size good too. Service quick and efficient. Was just what I needed after a long day walking the coast path. If you're in the area I'd highly recommend!

Best fish and chips we’ve ever had and in a huge helping. Batter was amazingly light and crispy and the fish and chips were fresh and cooked to perfection.

First time ever in brixham absolutely loved it can't wait to come back next year

We were looking for traditional fish and chips one but wanted the option of steamed fillet rather than deep fried. The steamed haddock was a good size and fresh. The batter on the cod was excellent and the portion size good. We were beaten by the generous portions of chips and should perhaps have just suggested one.

Fabulous gluten free haddock and chips, as was the normal cod and chips. Friendly staff too.

If I could give 10 stars I would, we usually call here for fish and chips when we visit Brixham, the standard is always excellent. Four of had lunch yesterday 3rd October, Cod and chips for two Plaice and chips for the other two. Fish was very fresh as you would expect, the batter was light, crunchy and none of that yellow gunk that you get in so many places, the chips were hand cut and all of he food was piping hot and not floating in grease. The lady who served us was lovely, chatty and friendly. People need to visit this establishment to understand what great fish and chips taste like. Well done to all the staff. We have eaten here several times when visiting Brixham as we believe it is one of the best fish and chips shops in the harbour. We have had gorgeous fish and chips as takeaway but have also enjoyed sitting upstairs in the restaurant with a lovely view of the harbour. The staff are so friendly and attentive and an absolute credit to the place. It is reasonably priced for food and drinks and the service is pretty quick even when busy. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Came for food yesterday. Staff were accommodating and lovely, didn’t have a problem with our daughter moving seats to other empty tables, she was mostly well behaved and listening, we moved her when needed, decided to chose our battles wisely with a 2.5 year old. Food was fresh and drinks was nice too. Partner apologised about it but they were so accommodating. *only issue here was how narrow the toilet cubicles were, I get they’ve used what space they had and at least they had toilet facilities

Remember to book. Inside outside seating. Outside looking over the fishing boats on their way in and out. Heating and rugs supplied. !! - Had a super fish, could not have been more fresh -yum! Chips in cups BUT can be refilled as often as you want. Hint, plenty of stairs up to a (high) restaurant so note there is a lift through the door to the left of the main entrance. Well worth going for a meal.

We have had four fish dishes for wat we thought was a very reasonable prices Unfortunately he was understaffed and service was a bit slow,not that we really minded

We had one of the upstairs window booth seats in this traditional chip shop. We both had cod, chips and mushy peas and the food was delicious and reasonably priced as some other chip shops in the same area are pricey in comparison. The fish came with a scattering of scratchings that you used to get in chip shops years ago. Only food negative was that I wished I hadn't bothered with the slice of bread and butter I ordered as an extra as it appeared to be quite a cheap bread slice which tasted slightly stale (as if it had been sitting on the side) and I think it was margarine rather than butter. Service was a little strange and a bit irritating as we were approached a few times whilst eating by a male member of staff, not to see if the food was ok but to see if we had finished with glasses, crockery etc. My husband had his plate taken away as soon as he'd finished his last mouthful even though I was still eating. At one point we were both eating with a mouth full of food and we were being asked if we'd finished with a glass shortly after we'd just had something else collected. At this point the staff member said something like "it's ok we don't have a dishwasher and so we're trying to keep on top of things" We ordered 2 bottles of cider which came without ice in the accompanying glasses, not a problem to ask but he came back with about three tiny pieces of ice to share. Excellent food but perhaps need to be a bit less keen to keep taking away things from the table and wait for everyone at the table to finish eating before removing plates.

Awesome haddock n chips with mushy peas today best we had in years, couldn't fault the food service and atmosphere very friendly staff, prices very reasonable, as Arnold schwarzenanegger said il be back..

Once again, a very satisfied customer. Lovely freshly cooked fish and chips. The fish a lovely white colour, just as it should be and not with thick batter which makes the fish look bigger. Proper chips cut to the old fashioned shapes and not triple cooked like most places are obsessed with. Not forgetting the good friendly service you also get here.

Visited on a very busy lunchtime, there was a problem with the ordering system on the till but very high praise for how the ONLY TWO servers Katie and Toby coped with the situation they we’re brilliant and could definitely do with another server for these busy periods, food was very nice and good value.

Very nice tradition fish and chips, large portions and well priced. Staff are very friendly and the decor was in good clean condition. The restaurant is on the second floor above the takeaway and has a great view out over the harbour.

Really nice fish & chips & mushy peas take out, adequate portions served nice and hot, would recommend and would use again as we are down here quite often. Price is good value as well.

FANTASTIC FISH & CHIPS cooked properly, there’s NO warming up or cutting corners at the the brixham fish restaurant and take away, beautiful fresh gleaming white fish with proper potato chips. My family ran a fish and chip shop in London and I know from experience my fish and chips and these are one of the very best I have seen ever tasted! So well done to Gary and his team, faultless 10 outta 10! Keep up the great reputation!

Visit here every time we are in Brixham at least 3 / 4 times a year for many years. Consistent Best Fish & Chips in the Bay. Gary cooks all fresh to order but worth the wait times when busy.

One of the best fish and chips meals I've had. You'd expect the fish to be lovely on Brixham Harbour and it didn't disappoint. The portions were huge and extremely hot and freshly cooked. My only slight criticism was wishing the chips were cooked a little bit longer but that's just my own preference more than anything else.

Gorgeous hot and fresh food. Fish and chips, kids pizza and halloumi burger enjoyed by 6 of us and even had a visitor at our window! Staff friendly.

Coming from Kent we know good fish and chips, but I have to hand it to them this was fantastic!! I wouldn't be lying if I said this is the best I've had! (So maybe Kent isn't as good as we think 😅) Not just that but in the current economic environment it's priced so well too. I was recommended to come here by a local barman in Paignton and he was bang on with the recommendation. Keep doing what you're doing as a business 👏👏

Came to Brixham today to see the harbour and stopped here for fish and chips. We fould it a very good price for 2 adults and a child. The gluten free option tasted as good as the normal

The service was a little slow, despite it not being busy inside. The food was good but not great. The chips were a little dry, but the fish was quite tasty and the batter nice and crisp. The staff were friendly. It is a few steps away from the beach with lovely views across the ocean.

Casually walking past this fish shop on a Sunday afternoon. I spotted tables and chairs outside. It looked very clean and presentable. Prices looked very reasonable and it’s a traditional menu. I ordered fresh haddock and chips, got told it would be 3-4 minutes. I also asked the server could I please have a small carton of curry sauce. She was surprised when I also asked for chips! I asked the server could I possibly have it served on a plate? I was then told plates are for upstairs only. Four minutes later, it was given to me in plastic box outside, minus any cutlery. I went inside, asked how am I supposed to eat it? A blank expression graced the young girls face, until her colleague pointed to a box of small forks. I asked were there any knives? I got stared at like I was trying to reinvent the wheel. The young girl gave me a slightly larger wooden fork with no knife. I then asked the man who was frying the fish could I possibly have a metal knife and fork. It was given to me without any courtesy or smile as I sat outside on a table. The chips were very nice and the portion was very generous as a regular size. Unfortunately the haddock I found tasteless and the batter under cooked. Was hoping for a crispy crunch texture. Not so, also the curry sauce lacked any flavour. I was very disappointed and threw half of it to the seagulls. The staff here need training in customer service. Zero people skills, no yes/please and very unhelpful. I had to sanitise the cutlery also before eating my meal.

I checked on trip advisor before going out for fish and chips after having an awful experience in Padstow last week. The previous reviews are an accurate representation of our meal here.. it was lovely food/lovely staff at a very reasonable price. We would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Great food, we used the takeaway option. The cod was delicious and lightly battered, none greasy chips and loved the savaloy which I haven't seen for years. Be sure to return. Best I've ever had in Brixham by some margin.

Had a few hours in Brixham and decided on fish and chips for lunch. We called in here and had the best haddock and chips x 2 we have had. The batter was delicious and crispy and the chips were just fantastic. Will definitely come here again. Nice to see Gary was still here!👍 .

We had the most delicious fish and chips, the small cod and chips was a perfect size for me. Mushy peas and curry absolutely fab. My husband had haddock and chips and he is very fussy and said they were the best!!! We ate them next door in the pub and it was excellent. Thank you.

Ate here on our last night’s stay in Brixham which wasn’t planned but a great end to our holiday, they were very busy upstairs and only two staff but we got a table for us and our dog, didn’t know it was dog friendly until we asked but water and treats offered ❤️ staff amazing and food was gorgeous, really really enjoyed ourselves, thanks guys

Food always cooked fresh and is always hot. Chips taste great, not greasy, good portion sizes! Cheeseburger also tasty and good value for money, great service from friendly staff. The only chippy within the harbour that's actually open everyday until 9pm, so give them a go. Have tried elsewhere but this is by far the best we've had!

Only just found out about the upstairs restaurant & we had lovely family lunch & felt at home

A must to anybody pleasant staff can't do enough. Even down stairs in fish bar, very helpfully, will visit again next time down on holiday.

Best value in Brixham. First stop after getting off the ferry from Torquay. Been coming here for 20 years. Great views of the harbour from the window seats. Quality fish and chips.

Tried the others but these are the best. Eat in or takeaway food is great. Prices great too. Shame the downstairs eat-in part is no longer open as the stairs could be a problem for some.

Despite displaying ‘Award Winning’ on their frontage I can only assume this means their food and not their staff. Without going into detail, I was overlooked for the whole 15 minutes I waited in the queue while the staff member served a number of people who’d pre-ordered. When it came to my turn, the staff member allowed two customers to place their order before me. When questioned, she made no apology. She thought it was a joke and rolled her eyes at the two queue jumpers before I walked out. Avoid this place at all costs. Rude, ill-trained staff. Didn’t get to taste the food as I went elsewhere.

I originally ordered a takeaway and was going to sit outside the front of the shop. Then i noticed the restaurant upstairs, and they kindly sent our order upstairs. Beautiful cod and chips, mum had the plaice. Great food and service 👌

Visited yesterday evening for take away fish and chips and was dissapointed. Fish was fine, and was really looking forward to the food as it is highly rated and the restaurant was busy. Unfortunately the chips were very bad, in fact they may have been the worst chips I have ever tasted - all 5 of us disposed of our chips, having bread, toast and beans for our dinner. I'm not sure if something went wrong or if this is usual for the takeaway part of the business, it may also have been something to do with the chips being served from a metal tin rather than the traditional serving area in the chip shop.

Ok the only way I can describe the fish and chips here are they are outstanding no lie the best I have had for many years SUPERB! The chef is mad as a hatter but what a lovely gent an all round excellent experience

Have been going to this restaurant for over 12 years and have never had a bad experience until last week. Sadly the staff didn't know what they were doing and got the order wrong then we ended up not getting one of the meals we ordered very disappointed

Our first visit to this Chippy after finding the one I’ve used for many years has changed owner. SO GLAD IT HAD! The fish and chips are top quality and portions are quite generous. We visited Friday and Saturday evening for takeaway (Saturday because we loved it so much on Friday) so can’t say much about the restaurant although I did notice it was upstairs. Food was cooked to order leaving enough time for a drink next door maybe… Prices I thought were no more expensive than I would expect to pay at my local chippy. I have a new favourite chippy in Brixham.

We had the cod special with mushy peas. The size of the meal and quality of fish was just fantastic. This is real value for money. Living inland we dont get fish like this. Definitely recommend.

The best fish and chippy in torbay and maybe even south West! I've been to hundreds of chippy's and this one is by far the most delicious! Peferct fish. Crispy but not flaky and not to oily, great fresh and full flavour of all severed fish. Chips are definitely on point! Not greasy and just plump with great fluffy texture. The list goes on. The owner is great, super nice and always chatty nomatter how busy! Also the last thing to point out. Perfect placement on the Brixham harbour and right next to a pub. So you get the delightful atmosphere of the lovely set of fish town!

Absolutely wonderful. Sat outside on a sunny April evening overlooking Brixham Harbour eating fish and chips - what a lovely experience. Freshly cooked, competitively priced and with the largest sauce sachets I've ever encountered.

Great food and service Had the fish and chips “special” (one with cod, one with haddock) - generous portions, lovely tasty fish, light batter, served fresh cooked - more mushy peas could shake a stick at - proper chips, excellent value. Pot tea for two that could edgily serve four. We were fortunate to get a window seat in upstairs restaurant - late afternoon in off season so that worked. Waiter was new to job and little nervous but did a great job, attentive and polite and remembered who ordered which fish - he’s a keeper for the business.

Exciting place to have fish and chips. Today I and my wife had Haddock and Chips. The ambience is lovely with sea views from the restaurant windows. Our waiter Toby was very friendly, polite, and made us feel comfortable. We could easily see that he was moving around serving many tables on his own.

The restaurant is situated upstairs above their take away. Stunning views across the harbour. There is a wide selection of choice on the menu catering for everyone’s requirements. Theres an option of how you have your fish cooked and alternatives to chips. My partner went for large hake, chips and garden peas. I had a small fish, chips and mushy peas. Both arrived freshly cooked and pipping hot. Value for money and service is very impressive.

Quite possibility the best fish and chips you will ever have and such a reasonable price if eating in or takeaway. Only downside is it is open just 6 months a year .

Very disappointed with the quality of the fish today. Ordered two portions of mini cod and chips to take out. The food was cooked to order and served piping hot. Unfortunately the cod was very grey and didn't taste nice. Have had food from here lots of times before and it's always been good.

We travel down from Somerset, with friends, just for these fish n chips. We always sit upstairs in the restaurant. The staff and facilities are very good but the food is outstanding. We’re looking forward to coming down at Easter.

Battered cod, chips + mushy peas. All cooked fresh and well presented. Fresh cod beautifully cooked + perfect chips. SUPERB value for money. Overlooking the beautiful harbour. If this is what you are looking for - don't waste your time looking elsewhere, as I did. Ten out of ten.

Best fish and chips by far…. I live locally and when it’s open over the season myself and my family go every Friday… if I could I’d go every other day 😃. We have take away and also use the restaurant. Staff are very friendly and helpful . The fish is as white as cotton wool and the batter is amazing. Can’t wait for it to open again 🐟🐟

This is my favourite place to visit in Brixham for fish and chips. Huge portions for a decent price and always really tasty. Love the fact we can also bring our dog in! Couldn’t recommend enough

This is a great fish and chip restaurant, we choose this over bigger name/more expensive places in Brixham as (in our opinion) this is the best fish and chips we've had. Everything isade fresh in the takeaway downstairs and is always perfectly cooked, even have the option to have fish steamed instead of fried if you a 'lighter' meal. Portion sizes are unreal too, piles and piles of the best chips! Only downside here is them shutting in the off season (rougjly November to March) but it always makes the Easter trip sweeter when we know we can squeeze in on opening day!

It's obvious the locals eat here. Everyone was in, fed and out very quickly. The fish was good, though the batter could have been crispier. I had cod with a lovely fresh salad. The mushy peas and chips special which my wife had was okay, but a bit bland. The meal and drinks cost was 80% of usual charges, so that was very good value.

This restaurant is outstanding, it’s so family friendly and the staff are so kind and helpful. It offers gluten and dairy free which meant we could all eat as a family! Great portion sizes and great prices! We come here every time we visit Brixham and we look forward to it every time!

We went to the counter to be told upstairs was dog friendly which for us and our pooch is great! We had a lovely dinner. The fish was fab and the portions generous. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and the chap frying was really welcoming. Our new favourite fish and chip place in Brixham.

What a find! Perfect setting and the fish and chips were amazing. Batter was spot on and thr best mushy peas. I ate the fish meal and brilliant value. Nice glass of wine too. Service was great. We were delighted as dog friendly too
