Delicious, small cod and chips just enough, a few extra for my friend to devour

chips were good but i found multiple eyelashes in my chips!

Lovely fish and chips. Good value for money. Well worth a visit.

The service was a little slow, despite it not being busy inside. The food was good but not great. The chips were a little dry, but the fish was quite tasty and the batter nice and crisp. The staff were friendly. It is a few steps away from the beach with lovely views across the ocean.

Fantastic place,really exceptional fish and chips tasty well cooked great staff,very friendly and helpful,mine was a takeaway and had that quite a lot of times,I can't recommend it enough you will be very pleased with the service and quality of the food.thank you gary and lovely staff.Dave.

Casually walking past this fish shop on a Sunday afternoon. I spotted tables and chairs outside. It looked very clean and presentable. Prices looked very reasonable and it’s a traditional menu. I ordered fresh haddock and chips, got told it would be 3-4 minutes. I also asked the server could I please have a small carton of curry sauce. She was surprised when I also asked for chips! I asked the server could I possibly have it served on a plate? I was then told plates are for upstairs only. Four minutes later, it was given to me in plastic box outside, minus any cutlery. I went inside, asked how am I supposed to eat it? A blank expression graced the young girls face, until her colleague pointed to a box of small forks. I asked were there any knives? I got stared at like I was trying to reinvent the wheel. The young girl gave me a slightly larger wooden fork with no knife. I then asked the man who was frying the fish could I possibly have a metal knife and fork. It was given to me without any courtesy or smile as I sat outside on a table. The chips were very nice and the portion was very generous as a regular size. Unfortunately the haddock I found tasteless and the batter under cooked. Was hoping for a crispy crunch texture. Not so, also the curry sauce lacked any flavour. I was very disappointed and threw half of it to the seagulls. The staff here need training in customer service. Zero people skills, no yes/please and very unhelpful. I had to sanitise the cutlery also before eating my meal.

I checked on trip advisor before going out for fish and chips after having an awful experience in Padstow last week. The previous reviews are an accurate representation of our meal here.. it was lovely food/lovely staff at a very reasonable price. We would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Great food, we used the takeaway option. The cod was delicious and lightly battered, none greasy chips and loved the savaloy which I haven't seen for years. Be sure to return. Best I've ever had in Brixham by some margin.

Had a few hours in Brixham and decided on fish and chips for lunch. We called in here and had the best haddock and chips x 2 we have had. The batter was delicious and crispy and the chips were just fantastic. Will definitely come here again. Nice to see Gary was still here!👍 .

We had the most delicious fish and chips, the small cod and chips was a perfect size for me. Mushy peas and curry absolutely fab. My husband had haddock and chips and he is very fussy and said they were the best!!! We ate them next door in the pub and it was excellent. Thank you.

Ate here on our last night’s stay in Brixham which wasn’t planned but a great end to our holiday, they were very busy upstairs and only two staff but we got a table for us and our dog, didn’t know it was dog friendly until we asked but water and treats offered ❤️ staff amazing and food was gorgeous, really really enjoyed ourselves, thanks guys

Food always cooked fresh and is always hot. Chips taste great, not greasy, good portion sizes! Cheeseburger also tasty and good value for money, great service from friendly staff. The only chippy within the harbour that's actually open everyday until 9pm, so give them a go. Have tried elsewhere but this is by far the best we've had!

A must to anybody pleasant staff can't do enough. Even down stairs in fish bar, very helpfully, will visit again next time down on holiday.

Best value in Brixham. First stop after getting off the ferry from Torquay. Been coming here for 20 years. Great views of the harbour from the window seats. Quality fish and chips.

I originally ordered a takeaway and was going to sit outside the front of the shop. Then i noticed the restaurant upstairs, and they kindly sent our order upstairs. Beautiful cod and chips, mum had the plaice. Great food and service 👌

Tried the others but these are the best. Eat in or takeaway food is great. Prices great too. Shame the downstairs eat-in part is no longer open as the stairs could be a problem for some.

Despite displaying ‘Award Winning’ on their frontage I can only assume this means their food and not their staff. Without going into detail, I was overlooked for the whole 15 minutes I waited in the queue while the staff member served a number of people who’d pre-ordered. When it came to my turn, the staff member allowed two customers to place their order before me. When questioned, she made no apology. She thought it was a joke and rolled her eyes at the two queue jumpers before I walked out. Avoid this place at all costs. Rude, ill-trained staff. Didn’t get to taste the food as I went elsewhere.

Fantastic fish and chips with a view of the sea. Staff were absolutely wonderful and attentive Would definitely recommend if you are looking for good quality fish and chips Options for both take away and restaurant, if you have time definitely go up to the restaurant!

Visited yesterday evening for take away fish and chips and was dissapointed. Fish was fine, and was really looking forward to the food as it is highly rated and the restaurant was busy. Unfortunately the chips were very bad, in fact they may have been the worst chips I have ever tasted - all 5 of us disposed of our chips, having bread, toast and beans for our dinner. I'm not sure if something went wrong or if this is usual for the takeaway part of the business, it may also have been something to do with the chips being served from a metal tin rather than the traditional serving area in the chip shop.

Ok the only way I can describe the fish and chips here are they are outstanding no lie the best I have had for many years SUPERB! The chef is mad as a hatter but what a lovely gent an all round excellent experience

Our first visit to this Chippy after finding the one I’ve used for many years has changed owner. SO GLAD IT HAD! The fish and chips are top quality and portions are quite generous. We visited Friday and Saturday evening for takeaway (Saturday because we loved it so much on Friday) so can’t say much about the restaurant although I did notice it was upstairs. Food was cooked to order leaving enough time for a drink next door maybe… Prices I thought were no more expensive than I would expect to pay at my local chippy. I have a new favourite chippy in Brixham.

Have been going to this restaurant for over 12 years and have never had a bad experience until last week. Sadly the staff didn't know what they were doing and got the order wrong then we ended up not getting one of the meals we ordered very disappointed

We had the cod special with mushy peas. The size of the meal and quality of fish was just fantastic. This is real value for money. Living inland we dont get fish like this. Definitely recommend.

The best fish and chippy in torbay and maybe even south West! I've been to hundreds of chippy's and this one is by far the most delicious! Peferct fish. Crispy but not flaky and not to oily, great fresh and full flavour of all severed fish. Chips are definitely on point! Not greasy and just plump with great fluffy texture. The list goes on. The owner is great, super nice and always chatty nomatter how busy! Also the last thing to point out. Perfect placement on the Brixham harbour and right next to a pub. So you get the delightful atmosphere of the lovely set of fish town!

Absolutely wonderful. Sat outside on a sunny April evening overlooking Brixham Harbour eating fish and chips - what a lovely experience. Freshly cooked, competitively priced and with the largest sauce sachets I've ever encountered.

Great food and service Had the fish and chips “special” (one with cod, one with haddock) - generous portions, lovely tasty fish, light batter, served fresh cooked - more mushy peas could shake a stick at - proper chips, excellent value. Pot tea for two that could edgily serve four. We were fortunate to get a window seat in upstairs restaurant - late afternoon in off season so that worked. Waiter was new to job and little nervous but did a great job, attentive and polite and remembered who ordered which fish - he’s a keeper for the business.

Exciting place to have fish and chips. Today I and my wife had Haddock and Chips. The ambience is lovely with sea views from the restaurant windows. Our waiter Toby was very friendly, polite, and made us feel comfortable. We could easily see that he was moving around serving many tables on his own.

Fantastic !!!!!! Warm welcome by staff. Greeted with a smile and shown to our table. Nothing is better than fresh piping hot fish and chips by the harbour no matter what the weather. The restaurant is situated upstairs above their take away. Stunning views across the harbour. There is a wide selection of choice on the menu catering for everyone’s requirements. Theres an option of how you have your fish cooked and alternatives to chips. My partner went for large hake, chips and garden peas. I had a small fish, chips and mushy peas. Both arrived freshly cooked and pipping hot. Value for money and service is very impressive.

Quite possibility the best fish and chips you will ever have and such a reasonable price if eating in or takeaway. Only downside is it is open just 6 months a year .

Very disappointed with the quality of the fish today. Ordered two portions of mini cod and chips to take out. The food was cooked to order and served piping hot. Unfortunately the cod was very grey and didn't taste nice. Have had food from here lots of times before and it's always been good.

We travel down from Somerset, with friends, just for these fish n chips. We always sit upstairs in the restaurant. The staff and facilities are very good but the food is outstanding. We’re looking forward to coming down at Easter.

Battered cod, chips + mushy peas. All cooked fresh and well presented. Fresh cod beautifully cooked + perfect chips. SUPERB value for money. Overlooking the beautiful harbour. If this is what you are looking for - don't waste your time looking elsewhere, as I did. Ten out of ten.

Best fish and chips by far…. I live locally and when it’s open over the season myself and my family go every Friday… if I could I’d go every other day 😃. We have take away and also use the restaurant. Staff are very friendly and helpful . The fish is as white as cotton wool and the batter is amazing. Can’t wait for it to open again 🐟🐟

This is my favourite place to visit in Brixham for fish and chips. Huge portions for a decent price and always really tasty. Love the fact we can also bring our dog in! Couldn’t recommend enough

It's obvious the locals eat here. Everyone was in, fed and out very quickly. The fish was good, though the batter could have been crispier. I had cod with a lovely fresh salad. The mushy peas and chips special which my wife had was okay, but a bit bland. The meal and drinks cost was 80% of usual charges, so that was very good value.

This is a great fish and chip restaurant, we choose this over bigger name/more expensive places in Brixham as (in our opinion) this is the best fish and chips we've had. Everything isade fresh in the takeaway downstairs and is always perfectly cooked, even have the option to have fish steamed instead of fried if you a 'lighter' meal. Portion sizes are unreal too, piles and piles of the best chips! Only downside here is them shutting in the off season (rougjly November to March) but it always makes the Easter trip sweeter when we know we can squeeze in on opening day!

Evening fish and chips sitting upstairs in the restaurant ( we were planning on sitting outside on the harbour but the weather changed plans). 2 large cod and chips, peas and a curry sauce. Beautifully fresh as you'd expect in Brixham, nice chips and sides. Well happy with everything. Lovely friendly waitresses too. Good value, fish was huge! Thank you

This restaurant is outstanding, it’s so family friendly and the staff are so kind and helpful. It offers gluten and dairy free which meant we could all eat as a family! Great portion sizes and great prices! We come here every time we visit Brixham and we look forward to it every time!

What a find! Perfect setting and the fish and chips were amazing. Batter was spot on and thr best mushy peas. I ate the fish meal and brilliant value. Nice glass of wine too. Service was great. We were delighted as dog friendly too

We went to the counter to be told upstairs was dog friendly which for us and our pooch is great! We had a lovely dinner. The fish was fab and the portions generous. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and the chap frying was really welcoming. Our new favourite fish and chip place in Brixham.

The only fish bar we go to every year and we go to Brixham a lot, very reasonable and the steamed fish is fantastic, well done Chef you know your trade, wouldn't go anywhere else 👏!

This place is amazing. We went twice during a four-night stay in Brixham. Lovey service and delicious food. We had the cod special and then plaice on the second visit. Can’t fault it. So much more reasonable and with better service than much more expensive...

I treat myself to Cod n Chips here when I'm down this way working. It's a very nice place to sit outside on the pavement and watch the harbour and busy goings on as people meander and hurry past. Relaxing. Food what's the food like?. Well I don't think there is middle ground with fish n chips, it's either right or it's not. Not hard to get it right to be fare but very easy to get it wrong. Brixham fish restaurant consistently gets it right for me. Always good

Great menu with lots to choose from at very reasonable prices, we sat in a nice clean upstairs restaurant in a booth overlooking the harbour. Service was excellent, very friendly and helpful staff.

Just had the best cod and chips I've ever had from the take away. Big piece of fish, really well cooked. Going again tomorrow.

Very disappointed after reading a lot of good reviews decided to try this place . Only ordered chips but they were of poor quality not crispy on the outside and under cooked in the middle not light and fluffy as they should be. Could not manage to eat them as they were so went back in to order some curry sauce in the hope it would make things edible but the sauce was poor as well, very weak and lacking and real flavour. On the plus side, price prices were reasonable and you got a big portion (only a plus if you like the product).

Been here three times when we've been to Brixham always good food and busy, try yourself you won't be disappointed.

Top class. Food was delicious. Portions were generous. Price was very reasonable. Staff were a delight to deal with. Toilets were very clean, which I find to be a good indicator of how well a restaurant is run. Would highly recommend. Update: 2 years on and still amazing. Everyone should try this place.

Had the Gluten Free cod and chips - the gluten free options are cooked in separate fryers so I was reassured as a coeliac that this was suitable. Highly recommend!!

Excellent Fish and Chips. The best in Brixham.

You would expect all fish and chips in Brixham to be top quality. I can tell you that this one certainly did not disappoint. Delicious, delicious, delicious. Limited spaces to sit down, so better to take away. If you sit down you can enjoy some nice views to the west side of Brixham.

If you haven't already visited this restaurant put it on your list. I had the cod/chips/mushy peas special, it was delicious, as was the large cod and chips my husband had. The batter was light, the portion of chips was large, I couldn't eat them all, they were lovely and dry, not a bit greasy. Service was good, really pleasant servers and the food is reasonably priced £27.70 for the meals we had and two pots of tea. Thank you Brixham Fish Restaurant.

Not sure if we we caught them on a bad day, but this felt distinctly average for the top rated f&c in Brixham. My wife waited for around half an hour, they said they were short staffed but continued to take new customers’ orders and money without warning them of the wait. The chap in front of us had apparently been waiting 40 minutes. It didn’t appear that busy on the takeaway side, but clearly the restaurant was taking priority. By the time we had our order, a few people were getting understandably upset with the wait; why keep taking orders and not telling people though? The chips were ok albeit a bit greasy. But the batter had completely fallen off one side of the fish, and was completely over cooked and crispy at the narrow end. The rest of the fish was ok, albeit the batter wasn’t crispy - which was surprising after a less than 1 minute walk to where we were sat. 1 jumbo battered sausage became two smalls; they weren’t hot, and the batter had that odd consistency where it feels like it’s been under a heat lamp too long. Overall, not great.

Really loved the cod, chips and mushy peas. My wife and boys can be a bit fussy but they ate most of it. The service was really good and it was quiet so nothing I could fault with those but I had to highlight how good the food was. Excellent value for money at £38 plus tip for a quality meal for 4. Dog friendly too with free snacks for your pooch too. Highly recommend this place
