Went to Weavers Cottage today with my family to have a late celebration for my birthday.
I had a high tea which was lovely and my family had other various items off the menu. All the food was lovely and beautifully served.
The gentleman who was serving was very helpful and efficient and it was service with a smile.
We are local to Torquay but it was our first time visiting Weavers cottage but it won’t be our last. Lovely outdoor setting that is covered with heaters and we even had a visit from a little robin on the back of one of our chairs. Lovely little lunch stop.
Fantastic food, great service and relaxed atmosphere.
Jennifer and Chloe provided friendly and attentive service, which made the evening perfect.
We will aim to come back again soon!
The food and the welcoming is just fantastic. There's such a beautiful ambience, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
Nothing is too much trouble and there's a wide variety of options for different dietary requirements. And the food itself? First class, cooked to perfection and served super fresh.
A lovely selection of hot drinks and the top recommendation: eat in or take away a slice of cake - it's amazing, whatever type you plump for!
Photo is of the vegan breakfast, minus the tomato (personal choice), plus extra hash brown and brown sauce. Sets you up for the day!
The staff were great, the food was tasty, the prices were scary! I think I'm obviously out of touch but I definitely couldn't afford to take my family there. I had the butternut squash main and it was delicious but very small. Thankfully the staff kindly added a side of fries! At £19 this was the cheapest main meal on the menu, which is not why I chose it, but it did help! Another thing to note is that this is one of those places where for many meals you have to buy your sides as extras rather than them being included.
The wine was lovely and desserts were delicious and beautifully presented.
arrived at 3:50. told last orders were at 4. Quickly tried to order coffee and cakes. Rudely told that the cakes had been moved to the kitchen and we could only have coffee.
Sunday Lunch. Great food and plenty of it for a fantastic price!
I guess the only slight set backs were we booked for 4pm but couldn’t get to our seat until 4:15 and orders weren’t taken until 4:30pm. I only mention this as we’d been informed when we booked our table was only available from 4 until 5:30 so we still had to vacate at the allotted time. We did get asked to vacate too. They’d also run out of pork which was a shame :( but understandable I guess as it was later in the day so beware of this!
However this is likely to be the best roast you’ll find for the price anywhere in Brixham. Good to see the Golden Lion doing so well after all these years! Thanks :) x
This was our second trip to The Chart Room for afternoon tea. Our first visit was two years previously and I am delighted to say that standards are as high as ever.
I booked afternoon tea for 1.30pm and when we arrived it has just been put out ready for us. As it was one of those days between Christmas and New Year there was still a festive feel to our table. We had crackers and a lovely card from the staff offering season's greetings.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful and took our drinks order as soon as we were settled. Options include tea, coffee, hot chocolate, prosecco or champagne and in the winter, mulled wine.
As a special festive treat we were offered a free tot of rum.
If you have not visited before, it really is a great experience, The tables have maritime memorabilia from some of the great ocean liners under glass. Lots of mementoes are on the walls and every surface. A visit to the loo is accompanied by the soundtrack of a lifeboat drill from a cruise ship!
No children under 12 are allowed, which may seem harsh but is understandable given the amount of collectables on every surface. Brixham is also a town where there are lots of other family dining options for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner.
As for the food itself, there were dainty cobs of ham and mustard, sandwiches of egg mayonnaise, beef, and cream cheese and cucumber. There were also two types of handmade savoury tarts. A garnish of grapes, lovely fresh, sliced baby tomatoes, rocket and a touch of salad dressing completed the plate.
On the middle plate there were two scones, plentiful supplies of jam and cream, large, sweet fresh strawberries and two chocolate, coconut truffles.
On the final plate were two pieces of homemade coffee cake, two mince pies. We could not quite finish it all.
It's the most memorable afternoon tea I have ever had and I thoroughly recommend it.
We nearly missed you. What ravishing reviews! As is often the case had been meaning to visit this fab little café but it's taken a message on Facebook to learn you're moving on. Excellent toasties today, generous fillings and delicious. Great coffee. Clearly supported by locals and regulars. Doggy friendly and thankfully no plastic plants! That alone is worth a star. Lovely team. Best wishes for the future. 🇬🇧🇳🇿
Yet another lovely breakfast here! We love it and it is our go to place for breakfast now! The food is so tasty and freshly prepared. We are lucky enough to have this gem on our doorstep but if you're visiting make sure you give it a try! They do take out too!
Best birthday meal in years!
Fabulous food and service!!
We were greeted at the door with lovely smiles and seated immediately. All the food we ate was a total delight and served in exemplary fashion...nothing too much trouble! They appeared to actually enjoy looking after you!!
We had the best breakfast and lovely friendly service. Wonderful start to our day. Our dog enjoyed the visit too. Cosy place with amazing garden area to sit. Love it all! We will be back!
Lovely Find.
Brilliant dog friendly resturant. Very welcoming with delicious food and great service. The sandwich and chicken soup were very tasty and well presented. Great value for money.
