What a fabulous find. Food was great, topped only by the atmosphere. We were searching for a local eat for lunch after our Sweeney boat tour on Loch Lomond. As usual, I turned to Trip Advisor to learn about what other visitors had to say. We really lucked out, after reading the reviews I called and spoke with George (the owner) who booked a table for us. When we arrived we were welcomed not only by George but other guests who were more than happy to share their local tales. It was a rainy day so we were in no rush to leave, lucky us. George pulled out books and shared information about the area, the Clans, and Scottish history. This stop made the day extra special. Thank you George for the great food and wonderful experience.

I passed this light gem a few times on my way to a dive but never went in until this month. My sister, brother and his wife were visiting. We stopped and had lunch. Such a lovely meal we had. Very tasty and well cooked. The couple who were working in the Green Kettle were so lovely and welcoming. I will be back soon. Thanks a lot. My family is back to France with lovely memories of this lovely place....

Went here in the summer of 2023. Can greatly recommend, Sandra and George are lovely people who will go out of their way to make sure the customer is happy. The food is outstanding. In our instance there had been an accident in the nearby town and we had no way of getting there in time. George made sure we were received by a dutch couple staying on the premises in an RV. While technically closed Sandra made us all dinner while she was doing preparations for the next day. The night was just lovely. We had mackerel caught by George himself the next day. Its all just lovely. Cannot recommend this little place enough. Greetings from Daniël and Paul.

We have been driving past this wonderful place for near half a century but this was our first visit. It won’t be our last. To describe it as quirky is to seriously understate its appeal. The wood panelled dining room with two masts hanging from the ceiling exudes warmth, charm and interest in equal measure. The hosts are charming people ever wiling to engage with guests new and old. The food is traditional Scottish tea-room fare - and is all the better for it. My companion had a delicious ham’s haugh soup and the best toastie she’s had in years. My omelette was likewise perfect as were the hand-cut chips which accompanied it. If you are visiting anywhere between Helensburgh, Rosneath, Arrochar and Loch Lomond side be sure to make the short detour to Whistlefield and eat at this hidden gem - you will not be disappointed. Be aware however, that although this jewel is to a degree hidden it is by no means unknown and the dining room is quite small so be sure to phone ahead and avoid disappointment.

George and Sandra kindly agreed to host our family Christmas party and the night could not have been any better. They had put a great effort into creating a wonderful ambience in the restaurant and gave us the warmest of welcomes. The meal was absolutely delicious - homemade vegetable broth with warm crusty bread; generous portions of turkey with trimmings, roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables and fabulous festive desserts. Sandra also magicked up wonderful vegetarian and vegan options for the party guests and George's front of house service could not have been better. more good natured, flexible or more accommodating. Thank you - not only for going the extra mile, but the full marathon - and making our evening one never to forget! Next year we will have you both participating in the after dinner games - so make sure you've got your balloons, ping pong balls and maltesers ready for our return! Thanks again - and hopefully you didn't have to spend too much time afterwards on the dishes!

We visited the Green kettle for lunch with two small children. We ordered the simplest things on the menu (2 toasties and a bowl of soup) and waited for an hour from arriving to our food arriving. There are no highchairs (except for an antique one) or baby changing facilities. There are a variety of nicnacs to draw the unwanted attention of a toddler which is not helpful when you are waiting so long to be served. When the food arrived it was OK but nothing to be especially pleased about. We asked for brown bread for both toasties but they only did one with this. Please note that we are normally very patient customers and would have understood if the place was packed out but there were plenty of spare tables. Overall pretty disappointing experience and one I would not recommend for families with young children certainly, or anyone in a hurry...

Passed by this cafe a number of times and finally called in Sat outside, but time for some new furniture the wooden seating well passed its best and the metal chairs need a coat of paint, not a good advert for Scottish hospitality. Husband and I both went for minestrone soup and a sandwich each food was fine. Man who served us very helpful. The selection of cakes also looked tempting.
