Had a lovely lunch at The Tin Roof yesterday with family. The lentil soup, which we all had, was delicious. Our various wraps and ciabattas were also excellent. Those who had bread with their soup were given a generous helping of butter, a rarity in most eating establishments. Our waitress had a lovely manner and couldn't do enough for our young grandson. A most pleasing outing! 😁

I really love this well presented and spotlessly clean little diner. The menu is small but perfectly formed as here they do seemingly simple things to perfection. Scampi and chips with a delightful side salad, tartar sauce and coleslaw was outstandingly good. Actually perfect. And the crowning glory... Real chips! If you are in the area and they're open, do check first, this is a MUST visit diner !

This place really deserves the good reviews. It’s an excellent take on the American diner. Our food was tasty and very good. We had burgers, wraps and chicken goujons. The staff are great and very friendly - it’s a family run operation. For a wee place it also has quite a decent shop with plenty on offer from essentials to souvenirs and toys. I’ll admit I was a little surprised when we first arrived. The setting is unusual due to the old RAF station that is now community owned. Some of the building and fences etc. feel a bit harsh and ugly. One you are inside it’s lovely and done up well.

We had a ciabatta and a pasta salad, both were equally delicious. We also tried the garlic cheese chips for the first time and these were something else! Generously topped with cheese, yet not overpowering with garlic flavour. We pre-ordered and picked it up and it was ready and waiting for us. Fantastic service.

Tucked away in a building associated with what was formally a military airfield, you'll find this little gem of a place, loosely styled on an American diner and it is well worth a visit. But do check their opening hours!I'm a huge fan of chips and am frequently disappointed buy either poor cooking or worst still frozen ones. This visit I was straight into the scampi and chips and it was simply outstanding and to my mind really good value too. Crisp, hand cut chips that were without doubt the very best chips I have had in the past 12 months, if not longer, served with perfectly cooked scampi with a delicious salad and coleslaw too. Equally noteworthy was the tea. All delicious and therefore VERY HIGHLY recommended.

Our friends, who are local, brought us here for lunch and it really did not disappoint. The menu has all the usual favourites, panini, omelettes, burgers and jacket potatoes, but with some great twists. My cheese, onion and sun dried tomato panini was made with home made tomato pesto and a really tasty side of salad; mixed leaves and various bits and bobs....not a bit of floppy iceberg lettuce to be seen! It was absolutely delicious, as far away from a cafe chain panini as you could ever get. My husband can never resist a portion of chips and ordered some and I can honestly say we haven't had chips this good for years....proper home made chips, not frozen, and not a bit of grease either on the chips or the plate, fabulous! The Tin Roof is a real hidden gem, friendly welcome, great atmosphere and lovely unpretentious home cooked food - what more could you want? Highly recommend you try this diner.

Found The Tin Roof Diner completely by accident when exploring around Campbeltown Airport. The exterior doesn't give any clues away about what's inside! We were amazed to see it was a full on American diner with a really impressive menu and a great shop at the back which sold so many random items that it would deserve a visit in its own right.Food great. Service fast, friendly and efficient. Only negative is that we found it two days before our holiday finished, so at least managed to get two days there! Roll on next year :)

I like this place a lot. I like the vibe, the feel, the people and the food. If I had one small criticism it would be their opening hours, which are restricted to a mere 4 days a week , closing late afternoon. Chips that start with a real potato is a good start. Many an establishment could learn from this. Then deep frying scampi to crisp and non greasy perfection and serving these with great chips, delish tartar sauce and a neat salad, what's not to like?Everything here is done well... service, food, cleaning, you name it, they have nailed it.

Been to this place quite a few times, the burgers and wraps and nice and the cheesy garlic chips are a must have. The service is pretty slow, having waited upto 45+ mins for food previously, gave it the benefit of the doubt for being busy but then visited another time and was only one other table in and it still took ages so not sure where they are going wrong? The food is lovely but don’t go if you are in a rush or wanting a quick lunch.

I had a cajun chicken burger and my mum had a ham toastie, tea for two and one slice of cake to share. The bill came to £31.20! The chicken burger was £10.95, the ham toastie was £5.95 so under £17 for main food bill. So, we got charged over £14 for tea and one slice of cake! Extortionate! That was the dearest tea and cake we have ever had in our life and we only shared a cake! The food we ate was lovely but I'm sorry we will not be back as we feel really ripped off with the tea and cake prices. 3 stars as food was good but prices were not!

Called at the Tin Diner whilst in the area for brunch and enjoyed it so much we returned for a second visit. On the first occasion we arrived at 11.30am so both had a Scottish breakfast as the lunchtime menu doesn't start till 12pm. The breakfast was fresh, clean (no excess oil/fat) tasty with a generous portion size. On a second visit we both wanted to try the burgers as they had been recommended to us, we ordered a Base Burger and a homemade burger with Jack Daniels/BBQ homemade sauce. To drink we had a coke and 2 glasses of Malbec wine. The burgers came with chips, slaw and salad, the burgers were juicy and very tasty, both freshly made. The staff were really friendly and attentive, the diner is spotless and clean, at the back of the diner there is a gift shop and army surplus store selling various different things. Recommend you book at the weekend as extremely busy (we got the last table). Highly recommend you stop here for breakfast/lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed.

After searching for restaurants on Bute before our visit there, The Waterfront's reviews were consistently good, so we booked for the beginning of our holiday. We were not disappointed! The food was truly delicious, but not only that, we and the couple we met at the next table enjoyed a very entertaining evening of fun and banter. So much so, we were both there again a few nights later, we had enjoyed it so much, and of course we wanted to try more of the outstanding food. Thank you Gabriel and the Waterfront for making our stay on Bute that much more memorable! 5 stars without a doubt and highly recommended.

We ate here two nights in a row in early August. The menu changed each night so there were new things to try. We gelt some of the food, such as the starters, were over priced for the portion (£8.50 for two small croquettes) but they were delicious. However, the slices of cake we got for pudding were easily big enough for two (the picture shows two half slices on one plate) and each only £6.50. The cakes and puddings we had were all top notch A*** (esp choc ganache) so worth coming in just for coffee and cake even if you don't have a meal. We booked in advance via WhatsApp for 6pm dinner: Wed night it was quiet but the Thursday was heaving so glad we booked. The food we had was c. £20 for a main course and was really well made and delicious. Portions aren't huge but were sufficient. There isn't a kids menu so the first night we shared two meals between the three of us and had pudding, but the second night we had a main each. The Island Cafe is cheaper than the Coll Hotel and has a nice home made, welcoming feel to it with local art and two linked rooms, one with sofas and tables and the other just tables. The serving staff were nice young people. My partner also had coffee and cake here and the cakes really are very good (I hear the Chelsea buns are to die for too) and my coffee-snob partner says this is the best coffee available on Coll.
