Lovely place to stop overnight in a motorhome. Great views, we found it interesting to watch life on the pier. Took a nice trip across to Gigha. Very quiet at night.

On an old boys cycling adventure, Big Jessie's Tearoom was the only place around for a half way break. What an absolute treat. Most of us went for the Soup and Sandwich combo, which was great value and the chicken noodle soup delicious. Can only fully agree with other reviews about the friendly service and appeal of the cake display. All in a beautifully windswept landscape. 👍From all 6 of us. Thanks guys.

We had a family dinner here while staying in Tayinloan. Staff were friendly and food was fresh and tasty. Kids all are their meals and even had room for a curly cone. Worth a wee visit if passing by or jumping on or off the ferry.

Don't often get the chance to stop off, as we're usually rushing for the ferry to get home to Gigha, but we had a lovely light lunch here last week. Busy when we arrived , but only a short wait for a table, with good service and very good quality food, all well cooked and presented. Recommended.

Apart from thoroughly enjoying our dinner at Big Jessie's I cannot thank Alistair for helping me with a significant car problem. Having just returned on the ferry from Gigha our car would not start due to what I thought was an electrical issue. The AA were unable to come out because of the isolation of Tayinloan. Our camp site was located some distance away and we were in effect stranded. Thankfully owner Alistair came to the rescue, provided jump leads and a significant amount of car knowledge and our short break was rescued. I recommend the fish and chips plus all the trimmings at Big Jessies

This cafe is ideally placed to serve passengers waitinfg for the Gigha ferry. You can leave your car in the queue and watch for the returning ferry from the cafe windows. We had just missed a sailing so we went in and had a coffee and a scone while we waited. The scones were warm and so fresh they were a bit crumbly, but tasty. The only slight downside was the presence of a yappy dog belonging to another customer, which became annoying after a while.

We stopped here with our camper, waiting for the ferry to Gigha the next morning. The cafe was closed on Monday, but I stayed overnight for £.10 in the lovely camper stop. Right on the beach, very quiet and very pleasant. The owner is really friendly and nice. We will definitely also stop to eat in the café on our return. Update: Two days later, on our way back from Gigha we stopped here again. We ate exceptional fish and chips and an excellent cake, on the glassed-in veranda. Cozy and pleasant place and friendly and smiling staff. Truly not to be missed.

Visited last week during some really squally weather and Big Jessie's was a perfect place to shelter and have drinks and cakes. Friendly, efficient staff. Good view of the ferry slipway but the hidden gem is the path to the beach where there is plenty of sea glass and driftwood and a short walk to a wrecked trawler further along the beach. Last came to Tayinloan 6 years ago and not a great deal has changed but that is very much a plus point!

And the the service and atmosphere reflected this as it was getting on an near time for last ferry we opted to have a couple fish suppers and very tasty they were.......... with time and weather we decided to stay the night in our camper............ It has a Brit stop here that you enquire about in Big Jessie's ............ We also in morning had a coffee before going on our way and it was all very pleasant

Had a lovely latte before boarding the ferry to Gigha. Didn't get fed on Gigha as we were not aware that The Boathouse requires reservations and the Gigha hotel was closed down for the week, so when we got back onto the mainland, we were very pleasantly surprised to see the wide variety of food this little place serves. Very reasonable prices too and out cheese and ham toastie came with a homemade coleslaw and a lovely fresh side salad. Just what we needed!
