An amazing place in a beautiful location... The narrow road through fields to this pub was very pleasant to drive. Great food and great beer.

Quirky old pub with stonking home cooked food. Particularly good and massive, venison pie. Check opening and cooking times. Book early to avoid disappointment.

We drove past this place a few weeks ago. It looked so inviting that the three of us tried to get in but as it is such a popular place there was quite a waiting time. Despite being disappointed we vowed to return another day. We returned today and to our delight we were able to be accommodated immediately. So glad we chose to return. As soon as you enter the place the décor just grabs your attention. There were hearts everywhere you looked. The plates with your meal on are even heart -shaped - as well as the spoons. How nice is that? The place is beautifully decorated in bright colours with a certain appeal for young and old. I’m sure the kids would love to eat in such delightful surroundings. The menu is more than adequate to satisfy most people. The portions are very generous, and the chips, that come with some of the meals, deserve a special mention – they are to die for. We were too full from the main meal - but maybe next time we can leave enough room to sample the desserts. The staff make you very welcome - being very attentive and polite. We were served by the very capable and charming Leah, who smiled throughout the time she attended to us. In fact, all of the staff went about their duties in the most pleasant of manner. A big thank you to all the staff for turning our first visit in to a wonderful experience. For the effort that the management and the staff put into making your visit a pleasant one this place certainly deserves to be successful. Give it a try – you won’t be disappointed.

It was my birthday and we booked a roast Sunday dinner from6.30pm. The food and service were exemplary and I was dismayed to hear negative comments from the diners next to us, which were both unfounded and unfair. I am a vegetarian since 1987 and the nut roast offered was without doubt the best I have ever tasted. Everything about this meal was superb and my compliments go to both the chef and the excellent waiting staff. Cannot wait to come again.

1st time here and what a find , lovely host and waitress made you most welcome , the food was incredible very tasty indeed , the ambience was excellent , next time in Sheringham a defo booking .

We ordered two quiches and two coffees and paid £36. One slice of quiche (with a very modest salad) cost £14.95. We didn’t check the price in advance — rookie mistake, we know. The quiche was advertised at the counter, but no price in sight. We just didn’t expect gourmet-level pricing from a simple tea room. To be fair, the quiche was nice. But for £14.95, we expected a bit more — perhaps a side of astonishment, or at least a salad that doesn’t vanish if you blink. Honestly, it couldn’t even pass as a main — a starter at best, and that’s being generous. We’ve had incredible food experiences all over Exmoor: homemade pies, epic cream teas, ridiculously good pastries. Some cheaper, some slightly pricier, but all felt worth it. This… did not. Living in London, we’re rarely shocked by a price tag. But this one? It got us. The “quiche incident” is now an inside joke — though safe to say, we won’t be going back for seconds.

6 of us: me, my wife, 2 sons and their wives. One person with a difficult food sensitivity. We talked with them the week before about the food sensitivity and they worked round it beautifully delivering a tasting menu of wonderful dishes beautifully presented and served by professional and friendly staff all working together.

The most amazing food in such a friendly environment! Would definitely recommend to anyone who is travelling to the West Country to stop here en route. The welcome was warm and the hospitality was amazing

Warm and very friendly, only visited in the week so not very busy. Food was very good and bar ladies very helpful and friendly.

Good food but the old woman was a misery, did not supply good service and she was very short and not interested. However food was good

Celebramos una celebración especial a bordo de la Condesa. De principio a fin, el día fue absolutamente perfecto! El personal, la tripulación y el chef eran de primera categoría y cada huésped se fue con una sonrisa. Se sintió como una experiencia única en la vida y sin duda lo recomendaría a los visitantes y lugareños por igual! Ya estamos planeando o el próximo crucero.

Vinimos por el día de la madre. Saludo cordial como siempre. Todos pedimos la cena del domingo, con diferentes opciones de carne . Todo cocinado maravillosamente con un montón de verduras y salsa rica. Nos saltamos los entrantes, así que tuvimos mucho espacio para el postre. Los postres volvieron a estar llenos de sabor y gran valor. El servicio fue excelente de principio a fin. Lo mejor de este café es que, ya sea la cena del domingo o un desayuno inglés completo, la calidad y el servicio son brillantes.

We had a great meal in this excellent restaurant. They serve what they call 'Scottish Tapas', letting you try lots of different dishes with a Scottish slant. There are Meat, Fish and Vegetarian options with lots of side dishes and all of the ones we chose were delicious. And the waiting staff were helpful, efficient and charming. Would go again at the drop of a hat.

Great place to stay and eat. Lovely people, lovely landscape, and they even posted something back to me that I forgot to pack! Would definitely stay there again.
