The Ring of Bells at Hinton Blewett was a great find being nestled away in the countryside, with a great view to the surrounding area. We stayed for a Two night break whilst visiting the local area (Wells & Cheddar Gorge). The Room was comfortable and nicely decorated had everything you required for a short stay. The Pub itself has a cosy atmosphere and the hosts Ian & Jo were very welcoming and friendly. The food for Breakfast and Evening meal was excellent and could not be faulted. All of the above made for a very enjoyable short stay , we will definitely be back and are looking to book again soon. Mr & Mrs Triggs.

Superb pub & B&B! 2 night stay early March as visiting the area, not far from Bristol or Bath, but out of the way nestled in beautiful countryside. Made very welcome by the landlord Ian, small variety menu but very tasty with a home cooked feel. Very dog friendly, there’s even proper dog food available to buy. Compact, but well thought out en-suite rooms, with enough space for a medium dog crate if needed. Fabulous breakfast, the home made granola is stunning! Would definitely recommend and hope to return again one day. Many thanks, Tiffany, Andrew and Sprout the spaniel!

Our friends from Yorkshire were staying at a nearby cottage and we booked this pub so we could catch up with them and have a drink and head home the next day well rested. Nice quiet location. We booked the pub for lunch and had 3 courses. Food was excellent. Old rascal on tap so I was pleased. Went for an afternoon walk along the public footpath. Glad we had wellies as it was a very wet afternoon and the paths were quite muddy. The room had a boot tray so we could leave our muddy footwear out the way. Comfy bed. Nice shower with skylight. Smart TV with Amazon/Netflix/YouTube. Breakfast was included. I would stay again.

We came in here on a whim wanting a meal. The staff were honest and warned us their would be a noticeable wait for a table. In the meantime, the staff made us comfortable and did what they could to facilitate an efficient transition to our table. Visit with my wife and adult daughter. A very good dinning experience. Menu - well balanced and with adventure. Wine List - carefully put together, good value and quality wines. Ambiance - Country pub with a clean line makeover, comfortable and clean. Food - well cooked and presented, good portion sizes. Staff - friendly, well trained. Floor manager - excellent, friendly, efficient, there to help. Pricing - competitive and good value. Toilets - clean and fully stocked. Car Parking - large car park. Faults - none really, we tried 3 different, starters, mains and puddings, beers and red and white wines, all well presented at correct temperatures. We visited in recommendation from a friend, had a lovely early evening dinning experience and will re-visit in the future.

We came here after a 10 mile walk on a hot day. What a great little pub. The food looked great and by the amount of people eating must have been good. We all had the Fish Finger sandwich with tartare sauce. Washed down with a pint of local beer it must have been the greatest FF sandwich I have ever had. Crisp batter and steaming juicy fish on a rustic soft multigrain bread. Top notch. Not a bad price at £8 either. Can't wait to come back.

My husband and I (both in our early 70s) have just spent a night at this B&B and we were very impressed, indeed. The small bedroom was very clean & very attractively decorated, with both tea-making and coffee-making facilities, the latter being a Tassimo machine. The bed was kingsize and comfortable with good pillows The shower room + loo was spotless and stocked with good quality toiletries and soft towels. We ate lunch at the pub yesterday, part of a large family group of 9 adults and 6 children (the children all under the age of 11) and the menu was above and beyond that expected of a small country pub and the food (which was served amazingly quickly considering the size of the party) was, everyone agreed, delicious. Breakfast this morning was outstanding, as good as we have had in top hotels around the world. My only disappointment was that the Eggs Benedict, that featured on the menu, wasn't available for some reason. The cost of our overnight stay, inclusive of breakfast, wasn't steep at all. We would definitely stay at The Ring 'o' Bells again and would recommend it without a moment's hesitation. One suggestion - if you pay upfront, keep a note of the date and method of payment as this will aid checking out.

In the area for a short break and did the usual search for lunches out. The Ring O Bells came up and very glad it did. Nice homely place and once it filled up had a ‘buzzy’ atmosphere. The food was 1st class and the lunch menu excellent value. Only one word of warning as it says on the website, the owners run this place themselves and they multi task so don’t go here expecting to be in and out jig time. Go with the expectation of having long leisurely meal in a nice environment and you won’t be disappointed.

We were staying at the hotel B&B so decided to eat in the restaurant. When we arrived the landlord showed us to our table at 7.30 pm. We placed our orders for starter and mains and eagerly awaited our food as we had read the food was really good. However, our starters did not arrive until 8.35, my wife had potted crab and brown shrimp in a kilner jar which had so much chilli in it she said it was painful to eat (she can tolerate spicy food so this was very unusual). She had to leave most of it. I had red pepper and tomato soup and again this was so spicy I had to leave it. When the waiter collected out plates we expressed that we hadn’t enjoyed the starters but received no response. 1 hour and 40 minutes after our order had been taken we received our main courses. We both had the lamb and gnocchi, the lamb was slightly rare for our liking but we realise that is just a personal choice. However, the lamb was sat on a bed of some sort of pickled cabbage which tasted horrible. The only other vegetables on the plate were 3 very small carrots and a pea purée. We had to ask for clean cutlery between starter and mains. As we were extremely tired after travelling all day we decided not to have a dessert due to the long wait for our other courses. We went to pay for our meal only to find a service charge of over 10% had been added on the meal and our drinks despite the service being terrible. We politely asked that this be removed as we were not satisfied. The landlord was standing nearby but did not query why we were not happy with the service.

Went for Sunday lunch. Place was nice enough. Very old and snug. Good looking menu. Ordered drinks and my son’s small glass of Pepsi was soon gone so asked the waitress if we could have a pint of Pepsi. Couldn’t quite believe the answer. No we couldn’t as they didn’t have much in and they reckoned it was going to go too fast. Okayyyyyyyyyyy. Not sure that stops someone just ordering two or three at once. Maybe they also had a limit on that. One Pepsi per table. Same waitress seemed incredulous when we asked for a replacement for my sons Yorkshire pudding. Whilst the other diner’s ones were rather crispily overdone, his was actually burnt. Her response was Iiiiiiiiiiii’ll see what I can do. She did bring one but altogether strange behaviour. Food was quite nice. Could have done with a bit more veg in the bowl for three people (for example, I had three slices of carrot as my orange veg share) but what there was was nice. And good to be able to do a duo or trio of meat for those who couldn’t decide on just one (me). Puddings quite nice and not just the usual stuff but by the time the ice cream made it to the table the waitress was delivering more of her shenanigans. Quick it’s melting. It definitely was!

We were a family of four visiting the Ring of Bells for a Sunday Roast and sadly we were thoroughly disappointed. Firstly the pub was cold, cold enough for us and several other diners to keep coats on. The roast chicken £17 although tender was dreadfully small, the lamb was so tough it came home with us for the dogs to eat. The belly pork was the best, however the vegetable mix was poor and insufficient for 4 people, cauliflower hard. Finally there was a 10% service charge on the bill with no indication from the landlord that this was being added, would suggest other customers watch out for this! We choose a different pub for Sunday roasts each week and value for money, this was the most disappointing for many, many Sundays.

Had a really bad experience at Ring O’Bells on Sunday. We came there at 12 for lunch, after having booked a table for 8 people the previous day. We ended up being 10 adults and 4 kids so we asked if there are any other tables available. They said it was all booked out inside so a few of us decided to sit and eat outside. This is where things went wrong. We all ordered at the same time and it took over an hour for them to prepare the food (a few burgers/Sunday roasts). When we went to enquire about the status 45mins in, the owner got defensive, said we only ordered 25min ago (which was not true) and that they are trying their best. An hour and 15 min later they finally brought out the starter (charcuterie/cheese - none of this had to be cooked so no idea why it took this long to bring out). About a minute later the burgers arrived as well - the meat was dry, we had received no explanation as to why it took this long to prepare the meals, and worst of all, there were quite a few tables inside that were still unoccupied despite the owner previously insisting they are all booked out. The owner appeared extremely stressed and rude throughout our entire time there and we felt very unwelcome. Not sure if they were rude to us because we weren’t local but either way, that level of service is unacceptable. If we didn’t have kids with us, we would’ve left midway through the wait. Giving it two stars because the pub itself does look very charming and is in a nice location. However the food is very average and the service is terrible.

Cosy pub with delicious meals. Dog friendly with great selection of booze. I must highlight their sourdough pizza, as it is just outstanding and we will definitely be back!

The pub/B&B is in a countryside location, very pretty and peaceful village. Stayed here for a wedding at Folly Farm (literally a 10min drive away). Ian and the rest of the staff were so friendly on arrival and during our stay. Dinner was delicious and Breakfast has a great range from cooked to cereal based choices. The rooms were beautifully decorated and have fully working showers. We would definitely choose to go back and thoroughly recommend it to our family and friends or if we want to visit the local area again.

Very friendly and efficient owner and staff. It was a lovely day and unfortunately all outside tables were occupied, but we dined in lovely room, full of character, and had it all to ourselves. Food was very good

What a great little pub, really liked it here, it looks like the locals do too. We initially sat outside but it started to rain so we went inside. The manager was very friendly & helpful & when we ordered food he mentioned that a table of 17 had just arrived before us so there could be a wait. We didn't mind as we were drinking the local larger & cider 👍 The food was beautiful & presented to perfection so worth the wait even though we only had a ploughman's lunch the scotch egg was home made 😋 delicious . Would I go back again...hell yes. I have just looked at their rooms on google, I would luv to go back & stay here ⭐

Stayed overnight whilst walking the Buscombe trail with a friend. Fantastic food and accommodation - definitely a notch above standard gastropub fare and all sourced locally. Ian was really friendly and very welcoming. Walking 17 miles after such a filling breakfast was a little challenging though!

Fantastic little pub on a lovely loop walk from chew valley lake. Delicious food, and lovely smiley service. Very responsive over Google chat function for booking a list minute lunch table. They have lighter lunch options for a very reasonable price. Best pub meal I've had in ages! Definitely going back/recommending to others.

The room was nicely decorated, comfortable but very small. The real thing that was great about the Ring O Bells was Ian and Jo the owners. They made us very welcome, nothing was too much for them and the evening meal was fantastic. Jo runs the kitchen and it is clear that she is a top quality chef. The breakfast in the morning was great and the ingredients had been carefully selected so that everything was delicious. We had our little dog with us and he was also welcome everywhere. We will definitely be going back next time we are passing through.

Visiting 12 different accommodation venues over twelve nights on a long distance walk, The Ring o' Bells stood out head and shoulders above the rest. From immediate attention from friendly welcoming staff, to spotlessly clean, well planned and presented room, to the delicious evening meal and breakfast there was nothing to fault. I felt as if the owners had noted all the things they missed when staying elsewhere and ensured they provided it: nice coffee machine; two-pin adaptor plug in the bedroom; pretty, homely details without the room being cluttered; a large floor tray to put messy boots in. And the position in the village meant a quiet stay. Impressive.

Amazing Sunday Roast! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is characteristic and elegant but what impressed us most was the attentive and discreet service! Thanks again from Italy!
