Ring O Bells in Bath and North East Somerset

We found this pub on our last night in Bath after staying for 3 nights .....gutted we didn't find it sooner.... Absolutely amazing.. Menu is small but everything for everyone.. Food was mind blowing.. And atmosphere is just right... Service was fantastic and very friendly... If we lived in Bath it would be our local Thanks for making our last night fantastic

Great Sunday lunch in the garden!

Best Sunday Roast I've had in a long time...The beef was melt in your mouth, vegetables full of flavour, everything cooked to perfection. Probably the Best Sunday Roast in Bath!! Very talented Chef Matt coupled with excellent service from Liz, Steph, Courtney & Nat. The place to be.

I'm sure this could be a nice pub, and probably was in the past, however we turned up to find out that none of the food or reservations information on the website was correct and that the pub had been taken over by a new landlord, who was quite rude to us. If you're looking for a place to have a Sunday lunch, this isn't the one.

I had a wonderful meal at the Ring O Bells in Widcombe, Bath. Mick and Liz Dempsey are quite simply the best landlords in Bath. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere so friendly and warm. We had the best evening, with lots of local people out enjoying themselves in this lovely pub in a great part of Bath. Well worth a visit, you will come out smiling. 🥰🥰🥰🍺🍺🍷🍷

The pub was half full, we go turned away because 4 of us were in minor fancy dress. We asked if we could have one drink and go. No, not possible. Poor hospitality.

I went for a friend's leaving do. The pub has a good choice of local and popular drinks. The food is tasty and came out promptly. Their menu is varied and when it was served, it had been prepared well.

Pub atractivo por fuera; seria decepción por dentro. Había terminado, lleno de gente para un jueves por la noche, lo que obviamente no es culpa del pub, pero no fue un buen comienzo, y su manejo de nuestra mesa fue insoportable. En primer lugar, al igual que una partida de 10+, pregunté cortésmente si podíamos volver a sentarnos en la mesa de la ventana más grande (reservada), ya que la partida reservada era de solo 5 , y sugerí que podrían tener nuestra mesa en su lugar. No puedo hacer - los reservistas tenían que tener 'su' mesa específicamente! Eso podría haber estado bien, aunque un poco molesto, pero por lo que pasó después. Una de nuestras empanadas estaba sentada en su silla en nuestra mesa (más pequeña), y, no bromeo, apareció la camarera e insistió físicamente en que renunciara a su asiento, ya que los reservacionistas (que resultaron ser un grupo crujiente ruidoso de hombres que nos molestaron con su proximidad) TAMBIÉN HABÍAN RESERVADO SILLAS! Cuando nos preguntó si podía traer una silla desde fuera, nos recibieron con un ceño fruncido como si eso tampoco funcionara, y el resultado fue que tuvimos que cazar el pub apisonado para un taburete de repuesto, ya que claramente estaba más allá del ingenio o los recursos del personal para producir uno, lo que agregó insultos a las lesiones. ¿Qué equipo directivo trata así a los clientes? ¡Ninguno de nosotros volverá, y correremos la voz! En cuanto al grupo que de alguna manera fue tratado como VIP a costa nuestra, sugeriría cortésmente que se metieran en el mar.

Nice genuine local pub but disappointed with real ale selection on our visit. Pub advertises as one of the best real ale pubs in Bath but only had two available on a Friday early evening. One of which was London Pride! Didn't try the food.

We enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch at the Ring O Bells. The beef was beautifully cooked and the lamb was tender and delicious. Prorations were very generous. There is also a great selection of ales available. Would definitely recommend, and will be visiting again soon.

Fantastic boozer with a great crowd! Was nicely perched up outside, watching the world go by.

Unfortunate aroma of urine around the front door, which permeated across to the bar. Beer was good and we sat upstairs, but not an enjoyable experience...

Nice enough pub, but one of the tradesmen delivering cider put his arm around my wife, and it made her feel uncomfortable. Bar staff found it funny. Ale was delicious though, hence 5 stars - priorities.

Great place to watch the 5 nations rugby.

Dreadful end to the evening. We went to watch the six nations and spent £150 on drinks between us. At 9pm we were asked to leave as we had not bought a drink for an hour, by the 'welcoming' owner who i found out is called Nathan. The lower bar area was a third full at best, with many free seats. We were standing and apparently wasting valuable space! Utterly rude. We could not understand what we had done wrong.

The 3 or 4 ladies who looked after us today were awesome, you should be proud of yourselves and management should be likewise. Our party was two couples, two babies, one cocker spaniel and a pram. With the rugby being on I called up to book a table for initially just a few beers and catch up, this process was simple and easy. Despite being 15 minutes late (babies!) the ladies behind the bar were very welcoming and helped us get the pram stowed. We ordered some starters which were well-priced and yum! When one of our party realised a certain ingredient they were allergic too (parsley/coriander) may have been in our food she asked the staff and they said it was and that the chef had offered to make a repeat dish free of these ingredients and free of charge! They weren't asked and probably wouldn't have been but offered! In my book this meets my benchmark for 'exceeding' expectations! We ended up staying for the rugby (two of us anyway, and the dog) and at some point were offered free leftover roasties and gravy which were both lush and hot. The cocker Spaniel soon noticed these goodies and one of the team noticed her interest and got a separate plate with mashed up roasties and gravy for the dog! Excellent experience all round, customer service 101 and we will certainly be back. Thoroughly impressed, well done and thank you. Cheers H

Last minute decision to go out for Sunday roast, encouraged by reviews, did not disappoint. Lovely staff, proper pub, fantastic Sunday roast- good portions, really delicious food, large selection of vegetables and all the usual trimmings for a roast. Great service and food came quickly. Will definitely go back.

Friendly pub with a good selection of real ales (if unambitious, with Bass, Timothy Taylor Landlord and one other "standard bitter" I forget. Maybe Tribute most recently when I went in), lagers and wines. It used to be really gastro only, but under new ownership it's become a proper pub again, with atmosphere and a better focus on drinks! I've not had the food so I can't comment; I've heard it's still good though! How could it be better? Add some smaller breweries to the selection of big brand ales, and perhaps some more modern beer styles. A good pale ale would go a long way! Something from Oakham, Vibrant Forest, Electric Bear, Arbor? Also great atmosphere on Rugby Day - very popular!

Have been here a couple of times now and have always had an enjoyable pint in a friendly, relaxing atmosphere. They sell my favourite ale (Tribute) on tap so it's always going to be a favourite of mine. Didn't have any food, but tables near me did and I often heard comments of how well it tasted. Not too far from the city centre. Great staff and dog friendly.

A very poor booking system. We booked a day in advance online and was told it would be confirmed. We emailed the same day to check it was all okay and no response. The day off, we called three times and no one answered until an hour before our booking when they said they had no room for us. This system needs to be updated because an online system for booking should be more obvious as to the availability.

Perfection! Three of us visited this rustic pub one Sunday for lunch. We all chose a roast: beef, chicken and lamb respectively. They were simply delicious - served a roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, some vegetables and gravy. (All around £15.) Service was excellent. We had booked which was lucky as every other table was also reserved. An absolute must!

Tuesday night and yet the pub still had a good vibe. Party of all-ages celebrating a birthday in one corner. Plenty of chatting going on. It's what a pub is for. Reasonable range of ales on, well-priced, and Laphroig available for when I fancied a nightcap. About 5 minutes away from the Bus/Train station in the opposite direction from the city centre, it's worth seeking this place out. Apparently there is a 'secret' garden upstairs! The female staff member was very welcoming and an absolute gem as she went out of her way to accommodate one of my friend's need for a coffee despite them having stopped serving it some time previously.

One of my favourite pubs in Bath. Service is amazing and friendly, they have various different areas to drink in. Outside bear garden is spacious and pleasant. Food is very underrated, food is decent. Drink choice is good as well, it's only a few minutes away from Bath spa train station.

It's a lovely place with a great atmosphere and is dog friendly but the food is pretty poor. My fish was tasteless and they serve fries instead of chips with fish and chips which is puzzling. Only one bulb worked in the ladies toilet so it was pretty dark!

Great local pub with a variety of characters drinking there, the service was good and friendly. The food looks great though I was only there for a drink which was a good selection to choose from. The pub is spread over 2 floors with only small toilets on the 2nd floor, although the rear access comes in at 2nd floor as pub is set into a hillside. Lovely secret garden at the back too with plenty of seating.

Intwressante Auswahl an verschiedenen Speisen für jeden Geschmack. Das Essen ist Exzellent. Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich und due Bedienung äußerst freundlich. Wir würden sofort wieder kommen.

We only had a drink, which we do regularly. The beer is always in excellent condition. The landlady has an amazing memory for everyone's usual drink. The beer garden was most welcome on a hot evening

Stopped here on the way back to Devon and we were pleasantly surprised at how lovely and welcoming the staff at Ring O’ Bells were. We had the calamari as a starter to share and the portion size was amazing. It was plenty to share between two. The beef burger was delectable and the salad was delicious. Would 100% come back here again if we ever passing. Thankyou so much to the lovey staff

Just came here for a pint on the way to the station. So what can I tell you? A pleasant person served me. It was a pleasant pint, well kept I’d say. Grabbed a table outside and watched the posh people go about their lives.

Been here a few times and it’s always been a bit pricy but acceptable, today ordered some drinks and the children forced us to get some chips, £4,95 (so £5) for a portion of chips and it’s barely a portion - basically £5 for 3/4 of a potato. Not justifiable. Good luck

I can’t rate the Ring ‘O’ Bells highly enough. An absolute gem in the community. Jenny is the most personable and attentive pub landlady, she embodies the best of the British local pub. Highly recommended!

Met here for Sunday lunch with a dozen family members. Had the roast beef and enjoyed every mouth full. Good value as well. Busy but not kept waiting at all.

Great beer, tasty food (big portions) - mostly the pub classics, sausage and mash, burgers and fish and chips but with a couple of more unusual specials which looked very tasty. Dog friendly. Very friendly staff. What's not to like.

What has happened to Ring O Bells? Regular visitor every 6-8 weeks with friends ….. but menu has changed. Very restricted. Very boring. Very basic. Chips were mushy and tasteless. Coffee was absolutely appalling. So very disappointing. Have previously had lovely meals - changed hands? Cutting costs?

What a find! Arranged a lunch with friends, unfortunately the place we were meant to eat was Closed....but...we were very happy to find this place instead. What an amazing place...Menu excellent, Bar well stocked. Food choices were all enjoyed by our table. Henry, was amazing, he was extremely welcoming, very attentive and a great member of staff. Fish and Chips lovely, Ploughman's was well thought out. THANKYOU.

Half way round an 8 mile walk over the hills of Bath we had an arranged stop for lunch here. A traditional pub atmosphere. The staff were lovely, so friendly and on the ball. Food was good pub grub and the dirty chips were amazing! Beers were very good too. Great place, highly recommended. Will be returning soon I hope.

Had the Christmas dinner here yesterday - food was fantastic, pub was busy with a lovely atmosphere, service was fab and with a smile. Rounded off a lovely day spent in Bath.

This looked a nice pub and we made a special effort to come quite some distance to have lunch here only to by told they weren't serving 'walk ins'. Very disappointing. Perhaps we would have had more luck if we'd flown in through the window....
