Lovely building, great staff, not eaten there but for a while it was the first pub on our hikes to Chichester, the beer tastes sour, we usually have an Asahi given the choice and it just doesn’t taste right there. Tried switching beers but always that same taste.

Tapas for dinner at Bents grade centre was a perfect idea for a sunny evening sat outside on the terrace. Amazing selection of hot tasty authentic tapas, generous portions served with a chilled glass of sangria. Served by a very pleasant waitress, who was efficient and helpful , and the chef also chatted to us after we had enjoyed our selection of tapas, he was knowledgeable about the tapas selection and clearly good at his job. We would highly recommend this dining option at Bents.

Had to wait over an hour for food and it wasn’t great :(

Had a fabulous bottomless brunch thanks to our server Sophie. She was very attentive and kept the drinks topped up. The service was fast friendly and the drinks were lovely too. Highly recommend for bottomless brunch and we would come again.

Called in at the off chance from Braintree to Colchester Staff were very polite and helpful Food was excellent come out hot and cooked Excellent value for money Been to a few hungry horse chains and this one beats them all Would recommend

We go here for breakfast as much as we can with our dog Louie. The breakfast is outstanding. Best around and the staff are always pleasant.

As a weatherspoons it's prices and choice are great, but this pub gets very noisy when full.on the most recent occasion ordering food and drinks through the app, the server brought the food and rather carrying the items over a couple of journeys, as we were having 2 fish and chips, 2 individual portions of scampi and 2 portions of salad, he had placed the 4 grey scampi and salad pots on our fish and chips plates, wasn't happy with this as we have no idea where the bases of these pots have been sat and it seemed very unhygienic to us. Also when the fish and chip plates were placed on the table, I said, oh sorry have I made a mistake on the app as I had ordered 2 large fish and chips and one was very small, he ensured us they were both large, but we disagreed and this is where the customer has no comeback as you've already paid, they don't care. He wouldn't do anything for us or replace it, so we had to eat it.

Wanted to go to here with my small family before theatre as I love the food , won't be making the same mistake again , was relatively quiet but told too busy . we struggled to get a meal anywhere simply because the lounge won't take a booking unless there are 6 of us .... please change your booking system or we wont come back .

Stopped here for lunch one day last week. All the staff were very accommodating, with my electric wheelchair and our little dog. All the food was very delicious! I recommend this pub restaurant.

Brittany was a wonderful waitress who looked after us with a genuine sense of pride even with a gammy knee. The only thing that we could pick fault with was the fact that there was only Lettuce and Cucumber in the side salad!!

We went to York for our Honeymoon in March. We wanted to have a good home cooked style meal for our first night and we came across The Royal Oak. The roast dinner was delicious and the portion size was very generous! Sam served us and was very kind. We told him how it was our honeymoon and he went above and beyond to make our meal special! He dimmed the lights and even brought a candle to our table. We would highly recommend a meal here and definitely recommend their Sunday roast!!
