Andy was a lovely waiter who certainly looked after us, so definitely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Chicken Penang and Sticky toffee pudding were both good.

Girls lunch to celebrate my 50th birthday. Served by Julie. So welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend going. Food was fab. Had non alcoholic drinks. Loved it. Will definitely be returning. Had an amazing meal the last time I went to the red cow , had the fish and chips and the batter was so lovely on the fish , always love the red cow chips as well cooked perfectly , definitely worth a visit

Food was a bit tasteless, I had dry turkey, potatoes/veg on the plate looked like it had been under a hotlamp for a good while, it was OK, and rescued a little by the side plate of veg, but I wouldn't return any time soon, service was OK, Only choose this place as there was a £20 voucher on the app, turns out, if you go into the T&C's it says its will be available to view and download within 24 hours, mine arrived almost immediately, but we were told we couldn't use it for the first 24 hours.. felt a bit misleading, or unclear at the very least.

I will be very honest with you; dinner was bad. Considering the high price for dinner, the chicken curry of very poor quality; with rice that looked like mashed potatoes. Excuse me but I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone . This dinner was a rip of money to customers . thank you

Terrible service, food, atmosphere. We waited well over an 30 minutes for our food, I had to find the waitress to ask her how much longer she said she can find out very unenthusiastically. No apologies either. She then said they are short staffed and very busy, which it wasn’t that busy to be honest there were 3 other table so my. We weren’t informed of the delay in service when being seated. Waitress was miserable and very unhelpful to the extent my 5 year old mentioned “mummy why is she upset”. Then we signed up on the vintage inn app which said we get £20 off our 1st visit, which our waitress said was not valid and we’d have to wait 24 hours which was not clear upon time of signing up. Waitress was in clear need of appropriate training when asking about kids drinks on the kids menu she didn’t know if drinks were included said whatever says on there. A big shame we were let down considering it was our family treat for half term. We visit the red cow often as we are locals, and previously always left great feedback. It has gone down hill massively.

Excellent service and the best food around in welcoming and comfortable inn. Rib eye steak cooked to perfection and a traditional turkey roast lunch which was excellent.

The food was hot, very tasty served quite quickly .good value and good portions . Sadly the restaurant was very cold . The staff didn’t smile and not overly welcoming .

Me and most of my family went to The Red Cow last Monday after my great nan's funeral and the wake was lovely, it even allowed me to meet family members I had either never met before or not seen in a few years and the food was perfect.

Having downloaded a discount voucher through the Vintage Inns app, we chose the Red Cow to come with a friend, and sadly we weren't impressed. On first impressions it looks nice, I asked for a Gluten Free menu to be told they've only got one menu - so scanned through to find something I'm not allergic to, but the menu doesn't show allergies. Having managed to download the allergen app on the frightfully slow Wi-Fi; found something I could eat. The food that came out was pleasant enough, pretty small portions, tasted nice (but not amazing), and had we not had a £20 off voucher would have felt short changed. Drink prices on the high side of average, but okay. Visiting the toilets was disappointing too, for the price bracket should be spotless, again average - the gents having graffiti on the back of the toilet (not cubicle) door. I'd say it's on par with a Toby Carvery, at twice the price.

My partner and I have been here twice now and it's been amazing every time. The service is great. Staff are very attentive and friendly. The food is just fantastic. We will be coming here for many more years I imagine.

It was all nice, the man that greeted us and got us seated was pleasant and helpful, maybe it would have been slightly better if he had taken our drinks order straight away instead of coming back 5 minutes later for that but it was not really a problem. The chef cooked me the wrong steak but I was informed and it was not a problem for me. Service was good and everyone was pleasant.

We had a Sunday roast and my son had pizza and chips. His chips from the kids menu were really dry, but otherwise our meal was great.

Food was lovely and very good portion sizes, could do with a bit background music, nothing loud but would give a bit more atmosphere.

lve been coming here for years and enjoyed it. Tonight was so disappointing. lt was freezing, all the radiators were switched off,even the waitress was cold. We asked if they could put some heat on and they suggested we sit in the bar which had fires lit!! l had a piece of fish which was cremated. l was asked if my meal was ok and l stated l would let them know once l tried my fish. When the waitress came to clear the table and asked if it was all ok, l informed her l was not complimenting the chef for the over cooked fish which l ate because l was hungry, and the burnt batter which l left on the plate!! No response..... l will not be eating here again and will tell people to do a curve ball as they don't care what their customers think!!! Our bill was £ 69.00......

Our favorite local. Prices are good with the discounts as a loyalty customer, food is good with plenty of variety, and the servers are friendly.

We visited as a last minute idea, we managed to get a table and the staff were lovely, Lucy was fantastic she was keen to help and so lovely! The food was fab and atmosphere was nice :)

Such a lovely little pub. I popped in for a quick coffee in between appointments and I couldn’t have been made more welcome. I was served by a lovely brunette lady who found me a little quiet corner for me to enjoy my coffee and a book. I’ll definitely stop by when I’m next in the area!

Service was excellent - our server was Lucy, food was mostly nice (the mac n cheese could've had more sauce and there was very little fruit (and it wasn't mulled) in the eton mess. Everything else was very nice!!

Food was very small portions, roast dinner with smallest aunt Bessie Yorkshire puddings ever. Very disappointed with the food. Service was good but food just let it down.

Had a good meal yesterday ,staff very attentive and friendly ,asked for extra gravy and request was seen to straight the way thanks to Lucy . My only criticism is that decor is looking tired .

I've been there a few times and never disappointed. Staff, menu, and atmosphere are all excellent.

We have been going here for some time on and off for “special” meals when there was an occasion. We went here new year’s day and quite frankly we weren’t impressed. I don’t know what has happened to the quality of the food but it’s definitely not worth the price tag. I had dishes from the festive menu. My main was Turkey and trimmings. When asked if everything was OK with my meal, despite always opting for the bog standard “yeah it’s fine” I found myself saying “No, the potatoes are awful this tastes like it has been reheated from another day it doesn’t taste fresh at all”. I couldn't even cut the “roast potatoes” as they were so leathery and stale. The server brought out some “fresh” potatoes and you could tell the difference immediately. I don’t know exactly what is happening in the kitchen but I don’t expect to be served something that tastes stale and old at the prices they charge. If I had wanted left over roast potato taste I could have quite happily got some out of my fridge from new years eve dinner and the left overs we had. I didn’t though. I wanted fresh and delicious and it isn’t what I was served. The couple on the table next to us saw the problems we were having with food and decided to eat elsewhere after seeing what we had been served. I don’t think I will visit here again. It really has put me off. The food used to be so nice here.

This was the xmas dinner for my games group, booked for 7 people who all turned up on time. Service was friendly and timely and the food was very nice. Some diners had quite specific requests for their meals which were accommodated correctly and without a fuss. The bill was reasonable for the size of group and a good time was had by all!

A group of us had a lunchtime Christmas meal. The food was very good and the atmosphere was fine. We were served by Lucy who was friendly and did a great job.

Steaks great/ Penang curry too hot 🥵 Need to mention this on menu as ‘hot’. Nice ambience. Take a view on the service as staff member clearly new. Toilets apparently stunk of urine (Ladies). We enjoyed ourselves but may consider a different venue next time

Visited this cosy, inviting pub for their Christmas lunch option. A member of our party requested a child's portion despite this not being on the menu: they were catered for without hesitation by the staff. The food was really lovely however it could have been hotter - this was mentioned to staff when they collected our plates. Overall, we enjoyed it.

We have not visited this establishment for a number of years as we live away . As we had been given gift voucher we decided to visit old haunts. The booking was easy, the welcome warm, the layout comfortable, the service good and the food excellent. We left after an enjoyable evening.

Great place, went for dinner here yesterday and I'm still thinking about the food. The service was Amazing and the atmosphere and decor was a nice cosy vibe. The staff were very attentive, will definitely be going back! Highly recommend the duo of lamb

Excellent meal had on a Friday night. Not too busy but a good atmosphere. And the food was delicious. Would definitely eat here again. We had arancini and sticky chicken to start. Schnitzel and pie for main. Great service from Daphne and Lucy :)

Good lay out with nice atmosphere. Good food. Very busy, presumably due to 1/2 price mains (Mon-Thur) prior to Black Friday. Car park too small and very small. If you cant find a spot you have to reverse out on a very narrow road. Ended up parking next door in Travel lodge ( the waiter assured me that there was no problem with that, but I was apprehensive. No Wifi and poor phone signal - could not retrieve my 1/2 price vochure with their App - luckily it was in my email inbox. But then the waitress wanted to take my unlocked phone to the till to use the code - I went with her !! Couldn't obtain my Loyalty bonus to use on my next visit ( a complimentary cocktail) as no inter net available to open the app. The waiters response was 'well at least you got the 1/2 price mains deal' Nice place but don't think that we will return - there are other nice places around - theres no point giving offers if its a hassle to obtain them, it soured the evening. At least get some free wifi installed so the offers can be easily accessed.

Decided to go for an evening meal as we had some vouchers and they were doing a £10 off deal. We have had some average meals here before so wouldn’t normally consider. I had a T-bone steak which I had to send back as I couldn’t cut it with a steak nice. Should have been medium rare but the amount of gristle and fat made this irrelevant. Waitress was happy to change it after telling me my steak was just well marbled. Chef said the rest were the same so gave me Sirloin. Replacement was average but an improvement. My wife’s meal was fine but again nothing special. Considering the above average pricing I think there are much better places to go.

This is a great example of a classic British pub doing what it does best, i.e. looking perfectly traditional inside and out and then providing excellent food and drinks at the table, together with very friendly service all at a very reasonable price! There were 3 of us and we just had a main course - 2x fish & chips and 1 Smoked Haddock chef’s special, which was outstanding. All were so generously portioned that we didn’t need anything else! We don’t live in the area, so can’t be regular customers, but we’ll visit again when we’re next over. Thank you for providing us with a fantastic lunch - we would definitely recommend you to anyone who is thinking of visiting.
