Larch Farm in Gedling

Lovely meal there last night for mum and dad's golden wedding. 17 of us and all food out together and very hot. Excellent service and very friendly staff.

Never been to the Larch Farm before, but went with some friends for teatime dinner. Was not disappointed. We took our dogs so we did not actually sit in the restaurant, but the room we say in was nice and friendly. I am a coeliac, but there was a great choice for me, plenty on the specials board, and the variety for my friends was very good. The prices are reasonable, the staff excellent, plenty of parking, lots of choice on alcoholic drinks, etc. We will all be visiting again soon, and looking forward to visiting. We should have visited before.

We had our Golden Wedding Anniversary there ,with all our family sixteen of us,everyone said there meals were lovely really enjoyed them ,sweets too.Will definitely go again

A busy friendly place. Very reasonably priced. 2 course golden oldies meal, 2 drinks and change from £20. The gf fish and chips are lovely.

First time here with my daughter & granddaughter ⬅️ (13yrs) she had ham, egg & chips. I had 8oz sirloin, chips, peas & 2 huge onion rings. The daughter had new York chicken. We all enjoyed our yummy food apart from the chips & peas were undercooked. (thick chips)The young man needs to learn a little more customer care as in a happy face to greet people. Customers like to feel welcomed!

Amazing Sunday Dinner at The Larch Farm. Out of this world. A must experience, especially the Sunday Dinner.

A really quite disappointing experience, especially considering good recommendations. The venue was nice, though. Service was relatively quick, however the waiting staff seemed completely uninterested and abrupt. I ordered the mussels -- they hadn't been cleaned up properly, and half were closed and inedible. I would have mentioned this if we had had a check back, but nobody checked back on us, so I ate a few to be polite and left the majority. Everybody else enjoyed their meals. The reason I leave this 2* review is the aftermath of my meal. I can only assume that my violent sickness and diarrhoea was due to the mussels. It's not a great expectation to eat at an established restaurant and not get poorly from eating there, and the 5/5 hygiene rating gave me false faith into believing the seafood would be okay. On the bright side, I lost 4lbs.

Chestnut Class enjoyed coming for a carvery after their swimming lesson at the leisure centre. Special thanks to Joel and to all the staff for being so accommodating for our pupils. We will be visiting every week as they love it so much :) Abbie

Can be slow service but it's worth the wait. Excellent for fish

Had a breakfast here and will not be back the bacon was hardly cooked, sausage was cheap and cold, black pudding wasn't cooked well. Overall a really poor plate of food. No one came to ask how the food was or I would have mentioned we were not happy. We used to come a few years back and it was really nice. A shame it has gone so downhill

I have been several times with friends and family. The food is always good and a large selection to choose from as well, plenty of fish dishes too

Food is consistently good fayre with a ln extensive selection. Cheesecakes have improved in recent months too which was the only downside before!

First time here and it looks the part . Great decor and good staff . Ordered at the bar ,very efficient Good pub fayre food. Used the 2 for 24 menu, very surprised with the portion size. Would highly recommend.

Lovely home cooked food, two for £24 makes sense. Best fish and chips from a restaurant. Quality sauce would be nice as opposed to cheap sachets.

Our third annual Xmas dinner. The food was hot which is good however the warm bread roll with the soup was as hard as a rock, the Xmas dinner compared to previous years weren’t half as nice. I’m afraid we will be going somewhere else from now on

Although the restaurant didn’t seem too busy we were sat in a cold unwelcoming part of the restaurant with bright lights and loud music. Not very comfortable and were told to look at the menu and order at the bar. The menu wasn’t very comprehensive with the usual items, I ordered a smelly cow burger (not very appealing sounding) but it came with blue cheese and bacon so I gave it a try. Partner ordered liver with mash and veg. Food didn’t take too long but when it arrived my skinny fries were cold and the accompanying coleslaw came in a MacDonalds type paper pot, I would have preferred it just on the plate! The burger was ok but served on a tasteless floury bun which left an unpleasant powder on my lips. I asked for mayo which was served in individual sachets - pet hate of mine! The liver was ok but the mash was a strange colour and texture served with peas and carrots and a rich gravy, all in all not too bad. Not a cheap meal by any standards but poor quality ingredients made it not good value for money.

Went for breakfast, ordered two cappuccinos,when they arrived questioned how poor they looked, was told quite clearly they came out of a machine and we are not a Costa store and walked away not even offering to replace, at that point we said we will never return, when other outlets are going the extra mile, felt like you didn't

Birthday meal. Food was lovely but service....well non existent and the toilets......surely they realise how bad hey are??? They stink and the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. Guess where we were directed to sit for my birthday meal🙄 gutted, wouldn't go ever again unfortunately. I was very much looking forward to it to.

Great value for money as always

Went for breakfast with my grandaughter and daughter today, service was poor, staff seemed unhappy, and food was luke warm. Order came out wrong (mine and grandaughter daughters meal all On one plate) no effort to put right, just bought an extra empty plate for us to sort out ourselves. Asked for a tea spoon for my grandaughter upon meals being served but never got one, I ended up wiping and using the one from my coffee. Had I have been asked about the Meal upon plates being taken away or upon me paying the bill, I'd have voiced my complaint there and then but we were never asked if everything was ok. We won't be returning.

Popped in on our way back from Nottingham one lunchtime after hearing mixed reviews. On arrival, we found the bar staff to be abrupt and uninterested. After we were seated, my husband ordered off the specials board which was a large cod and chip. When the food came, my husband noticed that the fish was Haddock and not cod which he had ordered. Spoke to one of the waitresses to address this who went to the chef. She came back and said it was 110% cod and not haddock. My husband eats a lot of fish and can easily tell the difference in flavour and texture. We were not looking for any refund but felt that our concern was not important enough for them to be bothered with. Very disappointed to be honest.

I thoroughly enjoyed my homemade soup and omelette 😋 my husband felt his scallops and liver were a little over cooked. Staff helpful and nice.

I’ve driven by this pub numerous times and always said I need to pop in and try! So finally We booked a table for 9 of us for a birthday meal. The food was beautiful, so tasty and full of flavour. It was nice to go somewhere which had a variety of options to choose from instead of the typical pub basics. The staff were lovely, friendly and approachable. We’ll definitely be back!

Food fantastic, beautiful place however staff need to work on their customer service and attitude, a smile goes a long way. As someone who has worked in customer serivce for 10 years I was expecting more.

Excellent fish and chips, excellent hygiene, excellent service.

Went today with the other half, both had a small breakfast costing £7.95 each. Very average, 1 bacon, sausage, egg, hash brown and beans and a slice of toast. Cappuccino costing £3.85 each for 3/4 cup and tasted vile. Only 5p cheaper that a large coffee chain and less than half the amount. Very disappointing. Needless to say we won’t be having breakfast there again

5 🌟 staff, very friendly welcome. Really accommodating to little ones, even adding fruit to my little girl’s lemonade, along with a pink straw. Food smelled amazing and looked great so will definitely be back to try that too.

Wonderful night in a very comfy room. Amazing breakfast, very good value and lady that served us was lovely and very attentive. 100% recommended.

Always had a greateal here love it

It was very busy but the staff were attentive and helpful. It was noisy in a large open room which was difficult for conversation around the table, perhaps more so for me as I wear hearing aids. The food was OK but nothing special, although it was great value for those who ordered on the 2 for £24 deal. My meal was on the specials board £16.95 and I was disappointed. Three of the prawns came shell-on with nothing to help deal with them : No separate plate for shells (one was supplied when I asked), or finger bowl. It was messy. The green leaf salad was very gritty and needed a thorough wash. The puddings were nice, but my cheesecake was a very small slither on the plate for the price. The coffee was delicious.

Lovely, friendly place with a nice outdoor area. There is a huge menu choice but the food can often be a bit of a let down. But you will get hearty fair & generous portions. Last time in I had a roast, thought they did the nut roast well but both types of potatoes & the Yorkshire pud had been sat around for too long.

Always love eating here, never have we had a bad meal, and there is always a huge plate full

Having just finished a meal here leaving a lot to be desired. Homemade steak and ale pie with vegetables and homemade chips. Firstly the pie had good amounts of meat but very little gravy, the crust was very heavy with little flavor, the carrots had not been peeled and the additional gravy was very thin and lacked depth or flavor. The only redeeming element of the dish; the chips light, fluffy and crunchy.

Food is always great, and the service and atmosphere are fantastic. I've been here quite a few times and just love the place.

Fully enjoyed my farmhouse breakfast at the Larch Farm. The food was cooked well and the portion was generous, great value for money. The meal was served in a timely manner and the staff were polite and friendly. Well done Sarah and the team, will definitely be revisiting again.

Lovely place to eat, food is great, staff are really friendly and helpful, even accommodated 2 elderly people in the party who had walking issues we had a table near the door and toilets. Will definitely be visiting here again.

A delightful old barn setting, with a charming courtyard. Friendly helpful happy staff, is always a big plus. Unfortunately, let down by a simply 'below to average' food offering. We drove from another nearby pub, specifically to eat here, upon a local recommendation. My Sea food platter was just a pile up of so and so grade ingredients, nothing stood out as particularly well sourced or particularly well prepared.

Absolutely great as usual. We go here very often and Always have a great meal. Lovely service and superb food at a reasonable price. I can’t recommend highly enough and great for disabled diners as it’s mainly flat and no steps to get in

Monday 5th august. Absolutely excellent from start to finish. Arrived and stood at the bar. Lady (black hair in pony tail) behind the bar acknowledged us even though she was serving. When it was our turn She asked if we had a reservation and although we hadn't she shown us to a table. Told us our table number and that we needed to order at the bar. She was very welcoming. Once we had decided what we were all having we went to the bar. She remembered our table number and asked if we were ordering together or separately. At that point we hadn't decided so she told us we could put it all together on one order and pay separately. She took our order and served our drinks super quickily, all the while talking to us and making us feel very welcome. Food came out pretty quickily and was of real good quality, everyone was happy with their choices. Well worth the money and only 2 meals for £24. Place was lovely and the servers we great too very friendly. Customer service was of a very high standard. Would definitely recommend and we all said we would return

Been here a few times now and was never disappointed until now, all I can say is make sure u know your steak if your going to order it... both me and my husband ordered sirloin medium well, it came out rare /medium and not sirloin infact we was given rump but charged for sirloin!! chips tasted like re-heats with some not cooked at all when I pulled the waitress over to tell her my steak wasn't cooked how I asked she then replied what do you want me to do take it back or can you eat it like that, I asked for it to be cooked through but when it came back out it was still raw in the middle. safe to say I didn't eat my meal.

Food lovely we had the fish & chips the 2 for £24. It was lovely and like being at a seaside town. The batter was crispy and delicious. We had a fabulous time until the staff were incredibly rude to our kids. They were playing outside and being kids. A long blonde hair member staff spoke rudely to the children. If they had an issue with what they were doing they could have spoke to the adults but they never approached us. They knew where we were sat. So we left quite abruptly and put a slightly dampened on the lunch.

We come possibly 2 X times a year, never disappointed at all. Food never disappoints and is always great value for money. Drinks are also reasonably priced. Would come more often but the drive is a good 45 mins.

Lovely evening. We didn't book and just dropped in. They found us a place and catered for us very well. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. Nice and clean. Good disabled parking facilities.

Staff were brilliant, very friendly and talkative. Food was very tasty, enjoyed by all at our table. Was our first time visiting, but definitely will not be the last.

Everything about the place and food was lovely. Just I sat on a chair that broke on me and I fell to the fall and all the staff did was bring me a new chair and said oh dear there old chairs.They never came to us any other time to make sure I was OK. I didnt expect anything but a courteous r u ok have u hurt yourself

We've been a few times for family occasionally and just nipped in for lunches and have never been disappointed. The last visit was for fathers day and it was a lovely evening. The food was really good, big portions and very reasonably priced. There was a good selection of drinks for everyone. The staff were amazing with my grandson and couldn't do enough to make sure we had everything we needed for him. They also spent time talking to him and kept chatting on their way past, they made us feel very welcome, thank you! We'll certainly be back soon for some more lovely food 😋

We had eaten here a few times for family birthdays etc , however this time it was awful there was 16 of us and my meal still hadn't came to the table even though everyone was half way through there's so I told a waitress to then be asked what I'd ordered which was a small plate fish and chips , I waited another ten minutes for it by this time rest of the party had finished there main meal when I cut into the fish it was raw and still freezing cold so I took this back they replaced my meal but by this time I didn't really want it, but my main gripe was I never got an apology or anything which I think is bad customer service .

Food and drinks above average. Reasonable value - fish and chips come in 3 size (jumbo, standard and lite bite). Lots of fish on the menu, but not just fish. My husband rates the cheeseburger. Outdoor seating nice, lovely flowers in pots and hanging baskets.

We were hungry and didn't want to make a fuss but on the plus side the meal was lovely and 2 for £19.99 were great portion sizes and tasty. Kids meal options were brilliant. Good food, good value, nice building

Ordered 2 x pie chips and veg. Slice of pie only had four bits of meat in it which were rock hard, pastry was soft, had four large chips and the rest of chips were tiny hard bits, served with peas and cold white cabbage thin watery gravy which cost £12 each. Sent it back and got a refund. Don't know if this place has changed hands because it used to be good but this was terrible. Won't be back.

The que to order food and pay for food and drinks is ridiculous there should be a seperate till for food service .asked for door to be closed as was blowing a draught my son and I were very cold to be told no as they were using it to serve from when there was another door they could use food overall was OK nothing special won't be returning to wait 5 mins to order food and 15 mins to pay is not acceptable

Beautiful food and great value couldn't ask for more.

Great fish & chips and pie of the day (stake and ale). Followed by chocolate fudge cake. Very chilled atmosphere, but busy vibe. Families welcome. Very good service. Will defo come again!

Beautiful fresh fish as always. Scallops were excellent. The poached egg was seconds away from perfection, but it was ok.

Can't fault anything! Food was piping hot when it arrived and portion sizes are very big!
