Positives - Free parking (provided you remember to check in at the bar on arrival). Warm welcome. Dog friendly. Good value drinks. Had only intended to stop for a quick drink on the way home, but ordered a takeaway fish & chips from the pub side before we left (2 cod & 1 x large chips). All cooked to perfection. For info, large chips does actually mean large portion!). Less positives - Quite chilly in the bar, and only two other customers in the time we were there, which was probably 1 1/2 hours. Hopefully, The Royal Oak will gain more support and customers as winter turns to spring, and can avoid having to close like 2 other pubs close by in Lamberhurst.

We stopped off here for lunch and it was lovely , lots on the menu , nice and fresh , staff were so friendly, had a lovely chat with the Irish lady , we will be back !

Stunning location, staff friendly and accommodating. Great food, whisky, service and views. Relaxed atmosphere which quickly made us feel at home.

You'd expect a nice sandwich from a café called The Sandwich Shop in Sandwich. The sandwiches are given trendy names but they are mediocre. There wasn't very much tea, not even two full teacups from each pot. The shop was very small and crowded. All tables were occupied; there were four people at one table and they had to move to let us out, and there was also a woman with a small child in a pushchair and as a consequence very little room, even the staff had difficulty getting to the tables. The staff were unenthusiastic.

First time here, really good place . Nice and caring staff with a smile in the morning. Great full English Breakfast. Enlightening vibe and a clean place.

I was looking for somewhere in this area for afternoon tea. I couldn’t see a menu so emailed and was sent one quickly. This looked good as it had some interesting options, and a selection of savouries. So I booked for a friend’s birthday, but what we got was very standard, with no sausage rolls etc. I see the photo of the afternoon tea for Mother’s Day on Facebook shows ‘the full works’, but I wouldn’t bank on that being what you’d get. I did email afterwards with this feedback, but had no response. I’d suggest going elsewhere.

Went on Saturday night. It was absolutely appalling. Zero service, barely any staff and super inexperienced, starters awful, long wait for mains, so long we had to walk out. Never again. I would love a refund for what we did order. We had to go home and make our own dinner. Hugely disappointing.

The food here is really awful, they use cheap cuts of meat but charge the same as other restaurants that provide good quality meat. Returned sirloin steak as it was substandard, it resembled frying steak rather that sirloin- thin, chewy and tough- definitely could not justify £18.95. I chose the burger as a replacement for the ‘sirloin’ unfortunately the quality was also poor, have had much better burgers from chip shops- thin, over processed, cheap meat & really bland. My partner had the rump streak, marginally better than the ‘sirloin’ but to be honest I’ve purchased more substantial steaks from Tesco at £3.50 each. The staff were pleasant and helpful, but because of the unacceptable standard of the food we definitely won’t be returning.

Took my wife there for lunch on the 23rd of December No complaints about the food No complaints about the service But a lovely seasonal bar was cold and a massive fireplace with no fire It was Christmas can’t you afford to light the fire ? Humbug humbug !

Called in for a lunchtime snack but the menu is very much restricted these days .Unfortunately the jacket potato was not cooked through despite plenty of tuna filling .As we were in a hurry we didn’t return it (there was a queue) and complaining wasn’t in our timescale.Sadly standards have fallen and we won’t be returning to what was always a good venue.

It's a great café - BUT today is now the FOURTH time we have been to get a coffee - going by their supposed opening / closing time and yet again, we arrive at 16.10 to find the same old chair blocking the entrance telling guests 'we are now closed' despite there being twenty minutes until their published closing time! Change your published opening / closing times if you can't be bothered to work until you are supposed to and have the decency to stop people wasting their time driving to you for no good reason!

Food is excellent as always, customer service from Adam is above and beyond, gold star for him always so friendly and helpful.

Barmaids too busy polishing their nails. Empty bar, waited five minutes, eventually left, what a waste of my time, get the fundamentals right, useless.
