Our first time in Abersoch for a birthday weekend with friends. I researched to find good restaurants and on reading good reviews in our accommodation we booked The Cove. The menu was different to what we had found online and overall the choice was disappointing. There were only 2 other tables in that Saturday night and from the poor starter choice they didn't have the one 2 of us would have had, and we struggled to find an alternative. We were all disappointed by the choice of mains but even more disappointed by how very salty all the mains were. Following our feedback to the waitress we were given two starters but we'd much rather have had a good meal. We will not be going again.

Been coming here for a few years now, never had a problem with the service nor the food as both have always been good. This time round, on arrival they didn’t have our booking when I had my confirmation on email. After 10mins of back and forth with different staff who didn’t have a clue what to do asked the manager who wouldn’t come out the kitchen? Then we got a table pulled over to the wall and was made to feel like they was doing me a favour even though I had booked. Sat down waited over 10mins an no one still came to take a drinks order there was only two tables in at this time so walked out. It’s a shame really, the manager needs to come out the kitchen and train her staff on service.

This venue is beautiful but the food was a huge letdown. We were a party of 8, 4 adults and 4 children. We ordered starters which were actually really nice but they forgot to bring the breads we ordered for the kids. Then when the mains came, each one was over cooked to the point I would say the kids were burnt. To be fair, the team offered to remake the children's meals but it was then late and they were fed up, so they deducted them from the bill. Although this financially compensated us for the experience, it was a shame that this was meant to be our treat night of our holiday. I won't be going back next year,

I am afraid this was the worst meal that I have ever experienced, the goat cheese tartlet was served cold when the menu said warm when we asked politely if we could have them warmed they advised us that it was not possible Well I went for the seafood chowder, I don’t honestly know how I managed to eat it, in essence it was mainly a bowl of sweetcorn with a small amount of salmon mixed in served with 2 slices of partly toasted bread I could go on about the whole experience but the main reason for writing this review is to warn people that the place is a disaster. My granddaughter’s who were with us could have served up a better meal. Sack the Chef ..!! If there was one

We came here a party of 4 ladies, booked ahead. It felt very much like an old conservatory that needed a facelift. It is. Given that view they could make this so much more. The food was average and I was expecting better. It wasn’t horrendous but it wasn’t amazing either. We tried the cocktails and they were fine. But the food was at best average.

Food was terrible. This was a 2 out of 10. We wouldn’t come back and eat here again. The restaurant had empty boxes all piled up by the door when we walked in which set the scene! They didn’t have any feta with the olives… I mean who runs out of Feta 🤷🏻‍♂️… The main we had scallops and they were gross… like small pieces of microwaved rubber. We hoped for the best for the main…. I had the beef pasta… it was cold and terrible. Worst pasta I’ve ever tasted. We asked if the desert was fresh cream… it rocked up with a big black hair in it… The only thing that was ok, was the Sam Miguel. What would I give it out of 10?…. A -1. Head for the potted lobster. We are there last night… it was fab 👍🏻

We had been to the Cove on many previous occasions and always had great food - not this time; it was terrible! A fantastic view and having spent two weeks sailing we were looking forward to it! The menu came out and was very light on choice- two of our party ordered scallops for £12 - they got a single scallop! - the only steak available was ‘rump’ with mash for £29 - rump! which I buy for my dog as it’s fairly cheap - anyway my daughter ordered it medium and it came out looking ok but was actually raw - so I cut it up and wrapped it up for the dog! The burgers were ok but came with what the menu described as fries - no fries just some chunky frozen style over chips with a strange coating; no garnish or veg. The tagliatelle was small and like a microwave meal - overall it was very very poor. The wine was good as was the service but the headline in any restaurant is the food - it was not good; expensive; with overflowing industrial size bins by the entrance with seagulls fighting over bags they had pulled apart strewn around the area; a total disgrace - I always considered it fairly exclusive having previously been a member of SCYC but we were extremely disappointed and will not be returning - the view is still fantastic but in its current position I would give the place a huge miss!

View is absolutely amazing!!! Staff were very sweet and trying their best but somewhat inexperienced. I take it that there’s not enough all year round custom to hire proper staff and put a proper concept together. Food overpriced. Menu very, very odd. Food alright. Presentation fine. Drinks lovely to be fair. Sadly some of our food was completely inedible and we had to send it back but they kindly took it off the bill. Sadly this one is a mess! Can’t recommend it. I wouldn’t say it’s a proper meaningful attempt at a restaurant. Potentially worth it for the view though

Slow, bad attitude, puffing and blowing, rolling your eyes, your not going to make many friends or repeat customers. Sorry for the inconvenience. The kippers wee frankly terrible, out a bag, on dry toast. The full English looked ok and for a very similar price I’d put put the food coloured stained piece of fish at a quarter of the price of the full English. More road side trailer than restaurant. Stick to flipping burgers.

The establishment boasts a truly stunning view and an enviable location, showcasing immense potential for a memorable experience. However, while the ambiance is captivating, some aspects require attention. The culinary offerings, though tasty, were marred by a limited selection and prices that were perceived as excessive in relation to the quality. Regrettably, the service encountered fell short of expectations, characterised by noticeable delays. Nonetheless, the inherent beauty of the venue remains undeniable, necessitating dedicated efforts to address the operational areas that require improvement. With suitable refinement and attention to detail, this place has the potential to truly shine and offer a truly exceptional experience to its customers.

Having been here before we noticed a change in the menu which was fine if you like a curry but didn't leave much choice for those who don't like their spices. The service was OK but not outstanding. We have not come across wet wine glasses before - is this a thing? We even had to have one (recently washed?) glass rewashed! Sadly we couldn't see the view due to the bad weather but were kept entertained by the four lads jumping into the cold and raging seas 😯

Disgracefully slow service. Three very young staff running the restaurant, two of who were on their 1st day, and the third was too young too serve drinks. We arrived just before 7pm and after waiting an hour for an easy pate' & sourdough starter to arrive, we decided to leave without having any food at all; in search of an alternative establishment in Abersoch village.. We since learned from locals that the new Owners are relying on the previous owners reputation. However, the previous owners/two guys who ran a very successful and highly rated restaurant left at the beginning of January 2023. Don't go there, find an alternative option in Abersoch and there are lots of choices.

We arrived for a meal, having paid £5.00 to park the car. There was no information advising of this in the confirmation of the booking. We had been received a phone call from a member of staff stating they no longer did Sunday Roasts on a Sunday. This proved to be the case, however neither was there a great deal of choice of the menu. We arrived, were shown to our table which was at the window and had a fantastic view. Our order for drinks and food were taken as expected. The food was then delivered to another table. There were only us and 2 other tables. It has to be said the food was lovely. Once the main course was eaten, the table was cleared promptly and courteously. We decided to have a desert but this wasn't offered and the staff on duty appeared to be ignoring us. I went to the bar and asked for the desert menu. I was told the menu was in the folders and was pointed in the right direction to collect the menus myself. The waitress did come and take the order and the deserts were duly delivered and were nice. Overall the location was amazing, the food was fine however it appeared there needed to be some managerial direction provided to support the staff on duty.

Firstly, lets start with the good things. We were sat in the window with absolutely stunning views! We visited on a Sunday for father's day, to be told it was only roasts on the menu. This wasn't a problem and the beef, lamb and nut roast was not awful. The roast potatoes were some of the best I'd had in a while. However, after being seated we had to wait about 30mins for drinks, and that was after we ended up going to the bar and asking for drinks. We then placed our food at the same time. Then we waited and waited for around another hour before we received our food, with no other drinks orders being taken. If this was a busy restaurant then I'd maybe understand. But we were one of four tables. The table next to us received starters and then mains before we received anything. More often than not there was no staff member behind the bar or front of house. The waitress was doing her best as they were clearly short staffed, but the wait on food was not her fault. We were understanding they were short, but there was only 4 tables, we shouldn't have had to wait as long as we did. Roasts are one of the easiest things to do and turn around quickly, and considering it was father's day and for the prices we would have expected better. One of the group last visited October 2022 and was blown away by the food and the service. I'm not sure if it's changed hands since then or what has changed but they really need to have a re think of their service, it's such a beautiful venue, just really let down by the wait and service. But as initially said the roast wasn't horrendous and everyone was so hungry that plates were all finished.

Surprisingly good, having had some very mixed feedback from members we have given it a go. Firstly they had no lemonade, steak, bacon panini. However most of Abersoch is out of food so we can forgive that. Secondly some of our friends had fish and chips and the batter looked dreadful, all of which will become part of this story. Anyway we went for it, I did tell our waitress (very friendly and was straight up honest on any cockups) about the batter a load of fish and chips and kids meal’s ordered. 30 mins later out they came. Have to be honest probably the best fish and chips I’ve had. Anyone who follow Food Review Club knows it’s all about the batter crowns 👑. It was crunchy, not a spot of grease, dare I say it perfect. It’s was crowned, hot and well received. Kid’s meals great value, all gobbled up and decent quality. Chef came out and said he had had the feedback on the batter and made some new as a consequence. Just shows a bit of positive feedback is useful! Anyway, great value, service was good, chef sorted it.

I had the fish which came with a tomato sauce (like Heinz soup) it was v average. Our kids are 12 and 13 - they had to eat off the kids menu as no way they would have duck/ fish or mushroom risotto. The biggest problem you will encounter is getting a reservation at the weekend in the summer months. We look forward to returning to the Cove when lock down is lifted, keep up the good work folks.

A superb meal here on Saturday night. Plaice starter was sublime & my crab and prawn linguini was perfect. My husband has the smoked cod Kiev which was fantastic. Great atmosphere, superb food, booked again already for Easter.

Had our first meal here, last night, but it won’t be our last! Great gin&tonic, delicious food and super service. Dean and I both had the tempura prawns to start and they were gorgeous. Then I had the chicken and prawn laksa coconut curry - again, so fresh and delicious. Dean had the fillet steak and said it was the nicest he’d had anywhere, in a very long time. Perfectly cooked and really thick. We were too full to have dessert, but the coffees were lovely. Friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Have dined here a few times and the menu has changed with each visit. The dishes are always creative and exiting. Chefs are to be commended! After another perfectly cooked meal last night we couldn’t believe it was a Christmas offer for £25 per head. Front of house are a great team and Laura takes care of bookings really efficiently.

We have been trying to get into the Cove at SCYS for ages now but it is always booked so that seemed like a good sign for a place to go. Anyway after all the half term people had disappeared contacted them by FB messenger and bagged a table for 4 on Friday 8th Nov for 7pm. After a swiftie in Zinc Abersoch we headed up to the carpark, bit dark (but we had the foresight to bring a torch!) and made our way down the steps to the restaurant, pausing before going in to take in the early evening view of the St Tudwal islands and the twinkling lights of Abersoch, with the waves gently lapping around the rocks below. We were shown to a table by the window but as it was dark not much to see.Ordered some drinks which arrived quickly and had a study of the menu which looks as though it changes depending on what is locally available a plus sign. See one of the pictures for what was on offer on the menu when we went. Food reasonably priced and obviously cooked from fresh. For starters two of us ordered the Pan roasted scallops with curried dhal and crispy onions - which was delicious a small starter with an eclectic twist; and two of us had the Smoked haddock croquette with a pea puree and tartar sauce – which were interesting but could have some with more haddock on a personal level. Anyway personally think that they would have benefitted from being served on whit dishes to do them more justice rather than being served on dark plates, I know I am old fashioned but always feel a proper white plate/dish gives more scope to display glorious food. For mains one of had the Hake fillet with cardigan prawn bisque sauce and bubble and squeak – which was very nice; two of us had the Seafood risotto with tiger prawn, mussel and Cardigan crab and squid – possibly some fresh parmesan shavings would have helped; one of us had the Beef massaman curry served with basmati rice 8 halves of new potatoes plus rice meant not a lot of beef which was a shame a 20:80 ration of pots:meat would have been better – I think we would try the Lamb rump next time. Small portions means you can indulge in desserts which we did Chocolate brownie with fudge butter scotch and vanilla ice cream and Orange tart with chocolate sauce & sesame brittle - both delightful. Service was attentive and discrete, the food was great apart from the small niggles mentioned above and the views were to die for. Many thanks we will be back if you are open and we can get in - Diolch yn Fawr from Wern Fawr.

All our our meals were of the highest standard and the wine menu was simple but superb and very reasonably priced. Its definately the old lovable Abersoch here. Special thanks to Laura who looked after us brilliantly..

No one minds a delay with a view when the food is so good. Great homemade burgers. Recommend children’s menu is expanded for the more adventurous mini diners. Great new decor

We went to the cove for Sunday lunch yesterday on Easter Sunday. It was amazing!! The food was really good quality, I had salt and pepper squid then sirloin of beef and it really was delicious!! The service, atmosphere and setting could not be faulted in my view. We go to abersoch a lot and it was definitely the best place we’ve been to. We’ll be back!

It was our first time there. Sadly we didn’t take any photos. The food was excellent. We had the three courses and I must say the starters and the desserts were especially delicious.Beautifully presented too! All four of us were if the same opinion. The restaurant has recently had a make over. It is situated on the side of the cliff, with a balcony outside or big glass windows floor to ceiling inside. There was a lovely vibe to the place with the added bonus of sitting right above the waves crashing onto the rocks. Views to die for!The only downside would be the accessibility for a disable person or one who wasn’t so good at slopes or steep steps. Maybe there is another route, this would have to be a question to be asked when booking. We will be back!

Awful experience. We arrived around 2 pm, and we asked what the soup was. We were told it was Parsnip and immediately ordered. The member of staff went to the kitchen to ask something and then came out to say they are no longer serving food. We found this odd given that she had just confirmed the soup with the kitchen, and the cafe is open until 4 pm. Fair enough if we were trying to order at 3.45pm, but this was at 2pm. We ordered coffees and welsh cakes, which took 20 minutes to come (cafe was empty, save for ourselves). The rude member of staff then slammed them on the table, didn't even take the items off the tray, and walked off. Never have I had such an awful customer service experience. Complete letdown to what is a lovely area.

An out-of-town farm/campsite/farmshop. Reasons for 5* = service (friendly), quality (.take a look round the shop), price (very good value) . I thought this was a lovely place. As a family we’d all happily revisit. Good value for the quality of produce. In Leeds (where we come from) could charge a lot more. We’d happily happily revisit

A most welcoming local pub with an excellent chef who happily adapted starters into a main for me - veggie! Although menu catered for everyone. Mine hosts were so cheerful & hardworking - many could take a leaf out of their books! The place was absolutely buzzing with people of all ages - locals & holidaymakers having the time of their lives singing along to the live musician of the evening who sang everything from Beatles/John Denver to modern day...talented chap! We will definitely be back - next time we may stay if not during the summer months, perhaps for an Autumn/Spring walking holiday!
