I saw the front doors open just after noon. Needed a snack or drink before an all afternoon appointment. Hesitatingly wandered just inside the big doorway no other customers but two females in the distant corner inside the bar looking as if they were restocking or similar. The room is impressive and I would come in here if I’m back locally but didn’t quite fancy sitting all alone or disturbing the staff. Well sited at Number 1 City Road.

We arrived from the Aviary around the corner dissatisfied with ungrateful staff who did not appear to want us there. We arrived here (with much more moderate pricing) We found Nikki was fab and she looked after us really well! It was so refreshing that someone was on the ball looking after us the whole way and made sure we felt catered for!

Wow! Fab food. Awesome staff. Felt welcomed. Such a clean and tidy place. Went mid afternoon, and had a meal. One of the best fish and chips! Family had burgers and absolutely smashed them! Best food we had in london A⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a wondrous wedding celebration... It's finally setting in… Our 130 guests took over the whole venue and we have had so many incredible messages of gratitude and amazement about our wedding party. It’s quite remarkable that literally a few weeks ago we didn’t have a venue. We are so grateful that the Singer Tavern became our serendipitous destination. It really was the perfect choice. The food was amazing, the venue looked incredible and the basement speakeasy party went fully off. Overall it was great value for such a central London premium venue. We are so grateful for the incredible help from Clare, Anj & the team who gave us huge, huge help and support over quite a stressful period in our lives. It really was the best party we could’ve possibly wished for. We couldn’t have done it without you (or the stripping vicar!!!). We will never forget this day.

My wife and I went to Singer Tavern recently for lunch. We live close by and first time visiting the tavern. Building is historical and used to be Singer Sewing headquarters. It was quiet when we got there but got busy while we were there. Service was very nice. Inside was nice and clean and good size space. My food choice was solid - chicken souvlaki. My wife not so much - do not recommend flatbread. Bread part was hard and thick. Nice selection of beer and wine. We will be back and try more things on the menu.

We were a party of four meeting up for a civilised social get together “ordered drinks at the bar “”what drinks were put before us was not what we ordered’ tried to point this out to the bar lady but she became defensive and slapped the card payment machine on the counter “””we again said that our order was not finished and what she had given us was not what we ordered “”she said she had had enough and stormed off “”””another bar lady apologised saying that her colleague had had a bad day’ our order was delivered correctly and without any confusion “”about five minutes after sitting down, we were approached by the duty manager whom I will refer to as HANDs ( due to his constant rubbing of his wrist and hands) we were expecting some sort of apology or an explanation but he told us that when we finished our drinks we must leave “ it was unbelievable to say the least if not somewhat amusing! He did say that they had the right to serve whoever they wanted to “””this is of course True “letter of the law “””looking around on leaving it was amusing to see a Hen part clearly under the influence of alcohol being served ( 2003 licensing act “”it is against the law to knowingly serve someone alcohol who is clearly under the influence) I have no issue with the Hen party and wish them well “”but the double standards of HANDS the duty manager! One of our group did send a complaint to head office but no reply “”so I guess it two fingers up to the customer “they are lucky that it’s in London where return visits of customers are not as important to them as the passing trade!

Came across this place after a wander around Spitalfields and building an appetite. Went in at 1145am and was told by the barmaid that the kitchen doesn’t open until 12. On noting my slight hesitation, the waiter said “tell me what you want and I’ll put it through to the kitchen asap.” Anyway, to cut a long story short; friendly staff, great customer orientated service and possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. Will definitely find an excuse to return!

Some of the staff were extremely rude - told one of our party to F off. Kudos however to the manager who came over after hearing me say the staff were rude to address it. It’s a nice venue and attractively decorated but the evening was dampened with the negativity of the staff.

Enjoyed our lunch here. Informal, spacious and light. We tried two of their lunch wraps, which were both good. The fries were nicely cooked but lacked a bit of salt (which was easily corrected). They have a nice selection of wine by the glass. Tables outside when the weather is good is a big plus.

Booked Singer Tavern for a company dinner event as it looked nice on the website, and offered availability for a large group. Sorry to say, we were disappointed with the full experience, from pre-booking, pre-payments and trying to get in touch with the staff on detailed questions. It's just a mess! Upon arrival, we stepped in to a chaos with music so loud you could not even speak to the person next to you without shouting directly in the ears. Serving staff tried her best, but there was confusion about the preorders, and the food was almost uneatable, and over priced. Dry burgers, boring crisps... We left the place as soon as we could. Go somewhere else!

Nice pub in a great location, seems to get very busy at times. They also have a nice selection of craft beers on the menu. Unfortunately, many beers on the menu were not available and staff did not seem to be very knowledgeable about craft beer and what they have available.

Nice little bar, staff are very good, friendly, relaxed atmosphere. If your in the area recommend a visit.

I booked a table for 8 people for dinner on a Tuesday. When we arrived we were shown to our table which was a table for 4 with 6 seats. This obviously wasn’t going to work. We waited for a more suitable table to be set for us. The music in the venue was extremely loud. Not at all suitable for a dinner. I couldn’t even hear the person sat opposite me (and I have very good hearing). Had there not been a £10 per head charge for not fulfilling the booking we would have gone somewhere else. The food was pretty good though which saved it. Could have been hotter though.

Weekday lunch with a colleague. The food (fish wrap, chicken katsu curry) was tasty but took a really long time to arrive for a relatively simple order - nearly an hour from ordering on a relatively quiet day. Front-of-house staff noticed and were apologetic and polite but not able to speed things up. Unfortunately, it's not the first time it's happened to me with food at the Singer Tavern, so this is mainly to give a heads up of the experience; you might be waiting longer than planned.

Came to the pub and service was atrocious. Staff (attached photo) were rude and miserable. The Guinness was off and asked for it to be replaced, the lady rudely quoted with attitude “there’s nothing wrong with the Guinness” I asked for the drink to be replaced instead she charged me for a new one. Atrocious customer service and poor attitude from staff. Will definitely not recommend this pub to my company.

I've often walked past this bar and admired the building which is a grade ll listed, formerly the home of Singer Sewing Machines. Obviously a popular watering hole with local office workers. The bar is spacious and attractive. My Thai Green Curry was absolutely delicious and according to my husband so was his pie. Nice atmosphere and would certainly visit again.

I stood at the bar for over 20 minutes whilst the female bar maid only served males and took shots with them. The customer service in this place is shocking. Do not go if you want to be served a drink.

Myself and three of my friends visited and we left disappointed. Firstly walking in we waited for someone to come and serve us, two members of staff were at the bar directly in front of us and did not bother to come and greet us. After being sick of waiting we left. However with no other restaurant in the area that we felt like going to, we returned. This time we walked up to the bar to ask if we could be seated given we had not made a reservation. We did not think it would be an issue since it was not particularly busy and we saw plenty of tables free with no sign of them being reserved. The server was not welcoming and begrudgingly sat us down at a table w tall stools which weren’t particularly comfortable to eat at so we asked to change table with another waitress and she said it was fine. It seemingly continued to go smoothly we ordered drinks and food which both came promptly which was great. it did not get much better than that however. On receiving our food I ordered on another drink indicating I wanted the same as I had previously ordered. I was then given a completely different drink. This admittedly may have been my own fault since i might not have been clear enough. However being a waitress myself I know it is not difficult to check what a customer has ordered. I told the waitress this was not what I had ordered and told her what it is that I did want, she replied that since she did not take my drinks order previously she didn’t know which is fair enough. We were then promptly given our bill without being asked if we would like to order anything else when our food was cleared. on our bill we were charged for the wrong drink plus the second that never arrived as well as a discretionary 12.5% service charge that we did not think was appropriate given the hostile and cold welcome, as well as the feeling they wanted us gone as soon as possible. We were asked for those things to be removed, which the waitress seemed deeply bothered by. After taking our payment the waitress stormed off without a single ‘have a nice evening’ We were collectively disappointed by the poor service, and we hope that no one else will have the experience as we did, since there is great potential.

Four of us ordered lunch, 13-April. No cider available and limited beers from the menu. Can all restaurants stop asking if we want any sauces, condiments or salt and pepper..... just put it on the table. We got it 10 minutes after the food arrived! The trainee waiter was polite and doing his best but he needed help. Food was decent enough.

Ordered 3 meals, only got 2 nothing was done to resolve this and my friend was blamed rather than compensated for the meal she missed out on. The two meals we did have where lovely just a shame I had to share mine so my friend didn’t go hungry. Staff were ultimately rude and unhelpful. Won’t come back.

Only came here because it’s next to my hotel. Pics are of a Scotch Egg with Marmite mayo starter, ordered because I was very hungry, and scampi, ordered because pubs can’t get scampi wrong?! It was monkfish scampi! So rather and unexpectedly wholly delightful! And great ale too. First time ever I asked to see the chef, in a pub, and I complimented and thanked him. Heavily recommended.

We had our wedding reception here last week (8 September 2018). This place is a hidden gem and we feel so happy that we found it! Great value, beautiful setting, cool vibe, AMAZING food, wine & cocktails and hands down some of the most enthusiastic, fun and professional staff / service ever. Our guests are still raving about everything!

I was here for dinner during a business trip. Great beer and awesome fish and chips. Can get a bit crowded in the evening.

Popped in for lunch and it hit the note on many levels. The food is good, what you want to see on a menu at lunch time and very reasonably priced. The portions were very good too. Tables are nicely spread out so it was perfect for a working lunch. Busy in the evening but in a great spot just off Finsbury Square.

This bar is well worth a visit, if you are passing. Its a big massive space with a cocktail bar below, it seems. But when we were there it got really busy, not that thats a bad thing its a really friendly bar, having said that.

Went twice for the World Cup and the downstairs bar was super chilled, with perfect music ambience for chatting. Big up Alex, Teddy, and Alice at the bar. Fantastic service and chat from them, and prompt food order service. Sickkkkk.

Many London bars wouldn't hold a table for a group on a Friday night. The Singer Tavern is a friendly exception with no demand for a minimum spend either.

I went to visit "Singers Tavern" as I liked the name and look of it. The interior was impressive, with downstairs sitting area, stuff super nice and the selection of drinks was huge! Super low prices as for central London. Will be coming back soon. Such a nice place to spend your evening.

El bar es una concurrida. Pero el personal en ella. No muere parece mucho desde el exterior, es toda una historia diferente por dentro. Un bar enorme espera dentro con una cocktail bar abajo. Disfrutamos de nuestra ajetreada y ya que el personal era encantador.

Se permite traer el Perro era una gran ventaja para nosotros. Hay una gran variedad de cervezas y el personal es muy servicial y amable. La comida está bien, atún ensalada de atún de gran calidad, pero tenía muy poco, fish'n'chips congelados estándar.

Visited with friends, quiet when we arrived but soon filled up later on in the evening. Plenty of tables for seating and good background music, there is a downstairs area but there was a private party. Would recommend.

We popped in to Singer Tavern after visiting Dennis Severs house round the corner. Nice staff, atmosphere, selection of drinks (especially beer) and cosy decor. We enjoyed a a festive Mulled Cider!

No nos dieron un buen recibo un recibo de pago sólo así que no tenía idea del desglose de precios. No es algo a lo que quería ir y objeción más, así que lo dejamos, pero mirando en otros comentarios esta no es la primera vez que esto ha sucedido. Esto se arregle como se pierde la confianza en un lugar que no carga correctamente, especialmente con la edad de tarjetas inteligentes.

This is an in venue at the moment in the city and rightly so the beer range is fantastic. Just be warned its packed out with the city kids in the evenings. Massive improvement on the old pub though.

I've been there a few times. Staff is always bewildered, have no familiarity with their food, drinks, or their till. I don't have a problem with staff in training, however it seems like the staff is perpetually in training in this place. Also, for a bar with great beer selection why doesn't staff knows anything about beer? Last time we were there we were served the wrong beer twice: Asked for Camden Ink - got served Camden Pale / Asked for Drakes 1500 Pale - got served Drakes IPA. When we ordered more obscure bottles, staff would refers us to the only guy who knew where the beers were kept. Both times he served us he overcharged the beers by at least £2. We managed to catch one overcharge but let one slip (£7 for a £5 bottle - AleSmith Lil' Devil). Had it happened only once I would put it down to incompetence, but twice by the same guy on the same day, difficult not to think it was malicious.The food was good

Came for a nice drink but was left disappointed. New bar girl on duty had no supervision and made poor cocktails, reading off the drinks menu how to make so had no idea of quantities. I originally asked for an old fashioned, not on the menu but quite a standard cocktail, especially with their large list of rare bourbons. I was told she can't make it and I would have to go to the cocktail bar downstairs even though the rest of my party had ordered drinks - odd!!Avoid!!

I hate to see British industry close. I love Singer sewing machines. So, we go into a pub restaurant that used to be a singer sewing machine factory...still beautifully tiled.. I am filled with sadness, nostalgia, happy memories of hours spent at my beloved machine. Gin needed. Lovely cocktail served., actually delicious cocktail, with London distillery Gin..a nice little industry..I am cheered..then fed, a mouthwatering halloumi , chickpea, red pepper salad with mint in the greenery ..pink grapefruit in the cocktail..did they know I was coming? This is a combination I will be replicating at home..after a day spent at my old Singer...this isn't the most beautiful area of London but as inpromptu late lunches go this is one of the most beautiful I'v had...but can the waitress sort her chipped nail polish out...

Popped in for after work drinks with colleagues and friends. The bat is much bigger than you think as there is an additional bar downstairs near the toilets. Drinks wise there are no mainstream beers, they are all from brewery's you've never heard of. Don't expect anything to be cheap as they're all between the £5 - £6 range. Having tried lots there was nothing that was any good really. The place was very busy and service was unexpectedly fast given the numbers. Sitting down was very reminiscent of being at school with wooden tables and chairs that were quite low down.We were going to eat there but one of our crowd said he saw the chef with his hands down his pants so we didn't bother.The toilets were clean and tidy.It's not local so I don't think I'd bother to go again, there must be somewhere better in the neighbourhood.

Popped in for a drink before going out for a meal, the range of craft ale was fantastic (20 taps) with some great breweries on display, can range was also very well selected.Dimly lit which made for a cosy atmosphere, food looked good too.

We spotted this bar on the way to our hotel and popped in for a few drinks before dinner. It has a lovely selection of gins and gin cocktails though they were missing some of the garnishes promised on the menu. There was also a large selection of beers, whisky and wine. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable.

Next door to the hotel. Absolutely packed. good run ragged but still polite and helpful they have a very special rum on the top shelf (ladder needed to get it down) killer but very nice

Visited a couple of nights running. Had drinks on a Friday evening, the place was really busy with people drinking after work. Was a well oiled operation though, great choice of drinks with a full bar. Ate here the following night, was much quieter, food was great.

Stumbled across this bar by accident, large array of bottled beers and obscure spirits, limited wine choice and quite a lively vibe. They do food but I can't comment as we didn't have any. I'd been here before with a friend but decided to take the team here after work after a disastrous visit to a bar around the corner. The bar was busy but we found a suitable table for all of us, service at the bar was quick and friendly and the food we had was great. Every member of the team thought it was a great venue.The range of drinks, especially beers, is impressive!

Terrible service. We had to book our orders in advance so it is not like a table of 8 had taken them by surprise. The place was almost empty - only 3 or 4 tables had customers so it is not like they were busy. Food arrived randomly and dishes were forgotten or things other tables had ordered arrived on our table. My dish did not arrive and as everyone else had eaten and we had been there for over an hour and had to get back to work we decided to leave. I raised the issue several times with the person in charge - not sure if there was a manager. When we were leaving he said to make up for the chaos he would not charge us for my dish. He failed to understand that I wasn't going to pay for my dish anyway as it had not arrived. Absolutely no understanding of customer service. The food that did arrive was overpriced pub grub.

Got a quick bite here after work with colleagues before heading out for an evening in London. Service was a bit slow, but decent vegetarian food.

Visited for a leaving do so we did have a reserved table, nice interior and great range of IPAs and other beers draught and tap, was busy but didn't seem to wait too long for service (Thursday eve). Food menu fairly standard but little twists we only had bar snacks which were good but the crisp fried chicken was superb.

I was in the area for work and basically this was the nearest and most convenient place for a few drinks.It's looks like a trendy bar from the outside and an old fashioned pub on the inside.I like the selection of beers. They serve Camden ale which is nice along with a selection of a dozen others in tap.

My boyfriend and I visited the 5CC bar located underneath the main Singer Tavern bar on a Friday evening after work.I work in the building opposite and therefore had been a few times before and always seem to get great service and good drinks.The bar was fairly busy but we got served straight away by the lovely Stefano Privitera. Very friendly and welcoming bartender and was very knowledgable about the different spirits and beautifully making the cocktails. Having both previously worked at cocktail bars in England and Australia, we were both very impressed with his knowledge and super tasty cocktails making skills and great to have a chat to.Highly recommend the 5CC bar, definitely a great place for afterwork drinks close to the city and shoreditch!

Very busy, no space to sit down. asked for Jack Daniells and coke, and got some cheap whiskey alternative without informing me about it.

Just rocked up to Singer Tavern as a group of 20, prebooked. They won't take a drinks order with dinner, so you'd order food and then have to walk up to the bar, we questioned this as a large group, and were consequently thrown out. Oh well, they're loss, around £1,000 at our estimate.

Popped in for lunch on a Friday, although busy we got a table for two and the service was prompt - the revelation was the quality of the pie, although it was served in the skillet in which it had been cooked which meant that eating it could have been easier. My colleague has the burger, which he commented was "excellent as per usual". A great selection of beers to as well did us for a great lunch.

I have been several times to the Singer Tavern, particularly because they have a great selection of beer and they do a good burger; however I now try and time my visits to only very quiet periods because the service is so slow and my colleagues refuse to go because of the waiting time at the bar. Sometimes even when the bar is quiet it can take up 10-15 minutes to get served, when its busy it can be up to 20mins. We have frequently got fed up and walked out to go to Finch's across the street - the beer isn't as good but there is no long wait at the bar.

I have very much enjoyed the Singer Tavern for a few weeks now, but had a terrible experience with one of the waitresses on Friday. Firstly, most of the service staff were great and the food was good. However, after food was served, our waitress simply wasn't interested in serving us drinks during the afternoon. On one occasion, after unsuccessfully getting her attention for about 10 minutes, I walked to the bar to ask for another drink. Her aggressive reaction to me interrupting her chat with her friends was appalling and I felt very embarrassed in front of her group of friends/colleagues. I really hope that the pub sorts this issue out soon to prevent ruining a very promising pub.

I used to frequent this place when it was the Sports bar. Since the new people took it over, they have ruined it. The beer was awful, but the manager didn't want to help, the food was greasy and poorly put together, the service was slow, to the point that even getting some sauce took 10 minutes, and above all, the staff are incredibly rude.

Been here a few times. Booked a table on a Friday for food, there were 7 of us, we got there to be told that they weren't serving food because the kitchen was too busy, all we could order were chips.Staff were very inattentive, took ages for us to get a waitresses attention for some ketchup to go with our chips. Drinks also over priced.

We ventured here for a few drinks on a Friday night as it was close to our hotel. The atmosphere was good and the staff were all friendly. The drinks were very reasonably priced and cost less than I would of expected in a London pub.

Had an appalling experience in the Singer Tavern last night, the barmaid refused to bring the card machine to me so I could pay and wanted to take my card, she then took our pints from the bar and walked away with no explanation. Tried to call the bar manager over he didn't want to know, eventually spoke to him to be informed that was classed as being rude! Having been the victim of fraud I take my card security very seriously and can only summarize from this that the bar maid was indeed up to no good or The Singer Tavern just do not take fraud seriously.Such a shame we shall not be back.

We were a party of nine looking to celebrate a special occasion and chanced upon this spacious welcoming tavern. They quickly pushed some tables together, despite it being a busy lunchtime, and we ordered prosecco (very good btw). My fish pie was very tasty with varieties of fish and a cheesy topping. I loved it. Others had delicious burgers with sweet potato fries and a caesar salad. We all declared ourselves very well fed but were too full to look at the dessert menu. So glad we found the place and really recommend it.
