Being part of the same complex, Shillibeer's Bar & Grill is unfortunately on our only option nearby for business lunches. Ans that's quite disappointing: you have virtually no service as you have to pay at the bar and carry your own drinks to your tables as you have to pay in advance for the restaurant (yes, that's weird), tables are sticky and rarely clean, the menu is pretty strange (the beefburger is the only good option), in a word a bad dining experience. Staff are pretty nice but not professional at all. In a word, a good place for a pint in the evening, but better to avoid it for a meal.

Converted bus depot with extremely high ceilings and loads of space. Trendy feel mixing industrial heritage with leather sofas and seating. Some courtyard seating for warmer days. Good choice of food at attractive prices. Friendly staff. Great range of beers, lagers, cider and wine offering good value for money. Worth a detour to find this pub.

This is the second time that our team from work have had lunch at Shillis since the new management took over and we're definitely not impressed. To be honest, we were excited when the new management came into place because the old menu was greasy and boring, despite being fairly reliable. The new chef's menu look amazing - dishes sound like they will be delicious and interesting. However, when they come out, often after a 30-60 minute wait, they are very disappointing!Pizza toppings are runny, with liquid cheese(?!?)Salads are underwhelming and plain. The Merguez sausage dish was bizarre! A crispy flatbread with three sausages, 3 pieces of charred spring onion and a dollop of aoli?! To be honest I struggled to eat it.All items were overpriced for their size and complexity.Staff are very nice, but it seems that the chef maybe needs some support in creating an accessible and exciting menu that they can follow through on consistently.

Two of us had some food and drinks before a show in The Pleasance Theatre, which is situated above Shillibeer's, and we were pleasantly surprised by what we found. An open plan bar and restaurant with great foods, and a really wide selection of beers and ciders. Food is reasonably priced, between £8 and £15 for a main, where the portion sizes are quite big. There's also a really good selection of starters, sides, and puddings to choose from, all at around £3 - £5. Food tasted delicious. Seasoned really well and good quality meat. Staff really went above and beyond. Bar staff were friendly and chatty, and gave some good recommendations on food and drinks, and the waiting staff were fast and attentive. The place was so open plan and spacious that there were also some REALLY big tables, so I imagine this place would be great for parties or big groups of people. Some of them looked like they could sit up to 15 people, but there was also a separate part of the restaurant/bar that could probably be booked if you're a very large group. Will definitely be going back to try some of their West Sussex ciders and some of the ales they have on tap. There's also a beer garden that I'll probably be using over the (hopefully) hot summer, but it seems to fill up really fast so it's best to get there out of peak hours to get some seats!

Great food, decent value and choice and a really nice atmosphere. Service was good too which has been the variable in previous years' visits. We went on a Friday night and the place was full not packed with a mix of after work people, diners and pre theatre goers. Brilliant 50s / 60s music in the background, not overpowering. We visited Shillibeers after seeing a show at the Pleasance Theatre next door. Shillibeers is a large and spacious pub with plenty of table seating which is good as there is a food kitchen with mainly burgers & grill options. The bar space is quite open and on several levels and even when busy was not overcrowded to the extent it is uncomfortable. Also the music levels were not too high and you can talk without having to shout over unnecessarily loud music. The only downside was that we ordered food but this didn't arrive even after chasing it up several times. They didn't give us a ticket when the food was order nor give us a marker to that they could identify our table - so not sure what happened there. This is a bit of an oasis in the area and certainly worth a visit either after visiting the Pleasance or are in the area.

As I sit here, right now, I have just been dumped a plate of Thai fish cakes. Let's think about that, have you ever seen a deep fried log called a Thai fish cake? I'm pretty sure what has been delivered is a deep fried fish finger with coriander. No lemon, no line, no chilli. As the look of disgust grew on my face my fellow patrons ( other idiots at my table) wanted to see what was wrong, everyone tried a half of the three £5.50 fish cakes. Alas all was gone so nobody will know I hated them, except if someone, somewhere caught on camera the moment 5 of my idiot friends all simultaneously chewed into the depths of a deep fried over breaded fish finger. That picture would be worth a thousand words, unfortunately the new chefs at shillibeers are only worth three, Iceland Michelin star.

The new menu said there has been a change in management and all staff appear to be new and not a patch on the previous staff. Ordered the octopus starter then the vegetarian main - both were awful - sent them back virtually uneaten. Such a pity as the last management really improved the place, the previous menu was fantastic . Such a pity - I won't go back- I had made Shillibeers my regular since February this year.

A contemporary pub with a classic menu, Shillibeer’s was a solid hit in terms of both great food and a great time. With a spacious interior with plenty of seating room spread out over multiple levels, Shillibeer’s also has a small outside section for people to enjoy, so lots of choice there. There was a decent selection of beers and ciders on tap – certainly enough to keep a wide variety of tastes happy. Ordered the onion rings for starters and, although they were a little oily, they were quite enjoyable, and had the fish and chips with a side of red cabbage slaw for dinner. Fish and chips were faultless, but the side of mushy peas it came with was very scant – perhaps a tablespoon’s serving at best. Slaw made up for it though, tenfold, but that was a separate purchase. Finished off with an order of sticky toffee pudding and we licked the plate clean on that.Price for drinks and food was extremely reasonable (easily the best I had in London in fact, given the quality of everything). Service was polite, prompt and professional, and they did a great job of making us feel welcomed and appreciated – we wanted for naught and they were always friendly. Place was very clean and the crowd seemed happy and enjoying themselves. If you’re looking for a fun night out with great food and no fussing about, I defiantly recommend Shillibeer’s!

Shillibeers is my local bar/pub. The only downside to this place is that the management seems to change an awful lot. Atmosphere in here is good always seems to be rather busy (possibly because of the theatre above?). I've eaten in here on a number of occasions and never had a complaint about the food - even the food they supply at private parties is pretty good. I went on Sunday for a roast - the food was excellent and quite big portions too (I couldn't finish mine)! Defiantly would recommend to friends. Lovely cosy bar with 2 main seating areas. armchairs in one of the upstairs areas so that you can avoid any noise and play some board games (these are supplied in this area). There is another upstairs area that hosts a pool table - again away from everyone in the bar/restaurant area. Nice beer garden aswell - but this closes at 10pm as its in a residential area.Overall a lovely little bar & grill.

Shillibeers is in the original home of the first London Omnibus service launched in 1829 by George Shillibeer. It shares the premises with a sandwich bar and the Pleasance Theatre which puts on some interesting shows. Fries could be better if double fried, as a tad on the pale side, but could just be down to preference. Liked the layout, indoor feels American, outdoor has some seating too in the mews. Like it.Great place after and before going to Pleasance Theatre upstairs. Very good.

Hosted a charity quiz here. Think it's absolutely great. Good food, good drinks, great staff. Venue is big but got character and a nice atmosphere.

Happened to have a meeting nearby and went to meet friends at shillibeers. What a nice surprise. Big range of ales and lovely grub. But what made it was the buzz. A really mixed crowd with great music and lovely people. A few tiny niggles but highly recommended.

This is a great pub if you don't mind waiting an hour and a quarter for your food . . if you've booked a theatre /meal combination and you like eating as much of your meal as you can in 5 minutes then this place is wonderful and if you like not eating before you go into the theatre (good for the diet eh?) then I urge you to try this pub. If you like the management telling you that it's not their fault because they had been nearly full and that you shouldn't be upset you should see it from their point of view then definitely go to this pub. If on the other had , like me these things upset you then I would avoid Shillibeers and eat somewhere where they know about service.

I have been here a few times after work and to watch sport. There are lots of screens and there is a good selection of beer. I have once been where it has been so busy that the bar staff were swamped, but they still managed to serve efficiently. The Australian manager is a really nice chap and always makes us feel welcome. There is a pool table on they do basic pub grub which is good.

We arrived at 4.30 and advised the staff that we'd be eating. We knew that food wasn't served until 5.30. However, when we went to place our order, we were told that there was a delay as nothing had been defrosted! The chef said the only food available was the fish and chips. The fish had been defrosting for two days!I have to admit that our started, celeriac soup, wasn't too bad. It looked like bread sauce, but it was quite tasty. However, the fish and chips was very disappointing. The chips were 'McDonald's style' and way too salty. Thick chips would have been much better. The batter was good apparently (I don't like batter so I removed mine), but the fish obviously wasn't fresh. It was dry and tasteless. Coffee tasted burnt. Wine was okay. Although the staff were friendly, I won't be returning - mainly because the food actually made me feel ill afterwards. Sorry.

Quite a sizeable place - great for a party.Food was much better than expected and very good sized portions at reasonable prices. Loved the Tempura prawns!Staff were really friendly and helpful and I hear the Sunday Roast is a must.Based on a very enjoyable first dining experience at Shillibeers, I will certainly be back to give the roast beef & all the trimmings a try.Would highly recommend.

I went on Saturday 9th November, whilst it is in a very quiet area of town, it is next to the Pleasance theatre, so it's great for pre/post theatre meals/drinks. It's very spacious and split between 3 levels.Everytime I've been there, they seem to have private events on. Last time I went it was an exhibition, last night it was a birthday party I believe. They definitely have the space for it!Despite having a large birthday party private event to contend with, the service was prompt and efficient. I ordered the salmon pate for starters and bacon wrapped chicken for the main course. The portions are quite large and not too expensive at all, so if you want 2 or 3 courses there make sure you go hungry! The food is really fresh and tasty.I wasn't drinking on the night and it was nice to see they had some Fentiman's lemonade rather than selling the horrible J2O stuff you get at most pubs/bars.I will definitely be back again soon if I am in the area.

I haven't been to Shillibeers for over years when I worked locally. The refit looks great and I'm sure it makes a great party venue. We arrived at around 2.30pm for Sunday lunch and it was VERY quiet. Two other groups of diners were finishing up and left as our food arrived. However, the roasts were yummy! I had beef, which was cooked medium rare and the portion was massive! Three thick (half inch) slices, lots of veg, spuds and gravy. I'd asked for extra veg instead of the Yorkshire pudding, I got the veg but they also popped the yorkie onto my husband's roast chicken. The chicken served was a breast/wing joint, sliced into chunks and was really soft and tasty. There was a good selection of guest ales and we had a nice bottle of Malbec for £19.So, approximately £5o for two beers, two massive roasts and a decent bottle of wine. The Staff were friendly too. All that was missing was the Sunday papers!

I visited Shillibeers on a Wednesday night after work. I found the venue quite easy to find from Caledonian Road tube. It was fairly quiet night, a few other hipsters and it got busy a little later around 8pm. The bar is quite big with several different seating levels and room for functions I believe. The place is quite rustic looking lots of wood and open painted steal beams from the old industrial past of the building. We didn’t have trouble getting a table. Food was ordered at the bar. My friend and I shared the salmon pate and tempura prawn, which were both lovely. The main was chicken wrapped in bacon (all crispy!) with dauphinoise potatoes and broccoli. The food was really good, and actually surpassed the order at the bar style “pub grub” was expecting. Prices were reasonable and the staff friendly. One lady took the time to explain the history of the building when we asked. It felt like she was genuinely interested. I would recommend a visit, i think it would be a great way to spend a lazy Sunday with friends, beer and a roast dinner.

價錢上是會覺得很高的,事實是入門版的Beverage brunch是唔平; 進階版的就合理, 吃過後便會知道那是很化算的,下次會再來架。

Stumbled across The Angelic today and what a great find. We really fancied a roast but hadn’t booked anywhere and it was delicious. Great value for money, especially for Angel, big portions and super tasty - didn’t take pics of the dessert as we devoured so rapid but the brownie was 10/10. The only tiny downside was not being told things that weren’t available when we sat down, but that’s just because we got our hopes up about the crab tacos, as it’s a fab menu. We had the haddock croquettes instead and our daughter wants to go back to have them again! Very family friendly, shows footy and peng food. Will be going back for sure.

Can't rate The Angel enough! We visited last Sunday for Sunday lunch and were greeted with such warmth. The staff were so hospitable and the service was amazing. I had the nutroast which I can highly recommend, my hubby the pork belly and my daughter fish and chips. We also had the baked camembert as a sharing starter and it was incredible. The atmosphere is just what you want from a traditional London pub. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you!
