The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

Booked for 2 nights. When we got to the room, the rooms itself was nice but…. Bin had not been emptied, toilet had not been cleaned, dirty jug in fridge and an empty cocaine baggie in the beside drawer. Went out the following day and the room was not serviced. No clean towels and the bed was not made. Such a shame as last time it was lovely.

Ordered large cod lightly battered fish medium chips - worst fish & chips ever had! Fish was paper thin, all batter, must of got 2 mouthfuls from the whole fish! Must be buying cheapest cuts of fish from wholesalers then making huge profit £8 for fish Chips not much better full of eyes and also large container sat outside toilet full of peeled potatoes No hygiene whatsoever! Cramped tables back of shop lacking in hygiene

When booking I specified that I was intolerant to dairy and wheat and that my wife was on the banting diet so no carbs. I was very surprised that no effort had been made to put on starters that I could eat. All I could choose from was Soup or the day, Chicken Liver Pate or Sticky Chicken Wings. I chose the latter. There was little to no meat on the wings and they were heavily spiced with chilli and not to my liking at all. Personally, I would have preferred, scallops, prawn cocktail or garlic prawns. My wife loved her Grilled Halloumi. For mains I chose Sirloin Steak with no tomatoes and some asparagus and my wife the Braised Lamb Henry. I asked for my steak extremely well done/cremated. It was medium to well done and not really to my liking as it was very watery as if it had been defrosted from frozen. The chips and mushrooms were good but alas the Asparagus was tinned, had that been mentioned I would have had frozen peas instead. My wife's lamb was smothered in way too much gravy and was not as good as on previous occasions. In the past we have been very happy with the food and the service at this restaurant but alas the quality of the food and the menu selection has gotten worse on each visit. We have enjoyed the times we have had here but this will become our last choice in restaurants to visit in future.

I order a no 2 on the burger list witch state chick salad ,burger,chip and salad with when it come it was not a chick salad it was a tiny burger and abit of salad when it should be a chick salad witch is fault advised

Fantastic afternoon tea enjoyed by myself and six friends. Delicious fresh food, generous size pots of tea and individual bottles of Prosecco made for a delightful afternoon. Staff were helpful, attentive and friendly

So ... we were looking for somewhere different in Yarm today for lunch .and as we walked past "The House" I was seduced by a picture outside of a full english breakfast . The picture depicted a plate with two eggs , two sausages and all the trimmings , it looked delicious . I didn't need to look at the menu , I knew what I wanted to eat . We duly went inside and were greeted warmly by a member of staff . How disappointing to find that the picture outside in no way resembled the actual food ! Only one egg , one sausage ....etc I felt we were lured inside by false advertising ... . Granted the Menu on inspection did state " Egg , Sausage , etc etc " .... but not what was depicted on the picture outside . So .... be warned !!!!

Called for fish and chips X2, wasn't asked if we wanted small, medium or large, charged for regular fish and chips X2 very greasy fish and chips very bitty, ie scraps wouldn't call it a portion of chips, quite a few people waiting for their order makes me wonder how we got ours so quickly definitely not worth what we paid for it

Desde llamar por teléfono a mi reserva el sábado hasta tener nuestro asado del domingo de hoy todo el equipo era muy servicial y nuestro asado sabía excelente , no podía manejar un postre pero lo que vi en la mesa de al lado se veían sabrosos. Recomendaría el huerto y el equipo a todos los que vienen a Edimburgo.

Awful game playing hosts on Four in a Bed. A guy with two teeth in his head and a crimson poodle. Underpaying everything because they “didn’t sleep”. Glad they didn’t win.

3 of us for a Spa treatment and lunch Arrived early to use the Spa. Called for our treatments which were all very good and enjoyable. Lunch in Orangery. Soup and sandwiches were very nice. Temperature in here was very cold and didnt heat up very quickly. Tea or coffee was extra to our Spa/ Lunch voucher.

We had dinner here while we were in the Derry area. The service was good, and our meal was promptly served after ordering.

Such a great place to stay with great food and great location - we were blessed with 7 days of sunshine which really made the stay special The superior room us worth the extra €£$

i’m not one to pick a bone but £14 for a burger of poorer quality than fast food :( & “loaded fries” that had a sprinkle of cheese & a couple bits of meat.. not impressed. everywhere else was packed so we went here in hopes of a nice meal.. but way over priced and not very tasty. the staff were unfriendly and barely looked at us when taking our order and seemed to be whispering while we ate. ordered milkshakes for dessert and they were delicious though. the food however was overpriced & i would not go back.

We've been many times before and always loved the food, was always busy with a queue outside, which tells you all you need to know . Today we ordered takeout fish and chips for two, and it was really disappointing - dry and overcooked. The shop interior which always used to be clean was grubby , and the floor needed a sweep and mop( bits of paper and general muck all over it). Such a shame its gone downhill like this. Wont be returning.

This was our first visit to The Half Moon and we already can’t wait to return! The place has a really warm and welcoming feel to it, with super friendly staff and regulars too. The service was excellent and the food was soooo good! I went with a personal favourite, mince and dumplings and it was delicious. The portion was huge (mine was a small and I still struggled to finish), the dumpling was cooked to perfection and the mince full of flavour. The dessert menu had a real old school feel to it, so we of course had to make some room. I opted for the ginger sponge and custard and just wow, total comfort in a bowl! Well worth giving these guys a visit.
