Booked part of the restaurant for my husband's 60th birthday celebrations. Excellent customer service from Tony and the team (sorry lady taking the food order I dont know your name but you did a great job) Friendly atmosphere and good food. Would definitely recommend and look forward to our next visit

Went for Sunday lunch and it was very good indeed. I think a different range of vegetables could be offered ie broccoli, cauli cheese and others. The veg offered were fresh not frozen. My partner missed the pork crackling on his lunch but other than that it was delicious. Lovely staff and great service. We are going back.

We have been here a few times now and always had good food and service. The Half Moon serves good hearty fresh food, the menu is quite comprehensive with the usual pub favourites on there. The sweets are a treat too. The portions are very generous and the service is quick and the staff are always polite. The pub itself has a relaxed atmosphere and has a pool table too. I will definitely be going back soon.

Me and a friend called in for lunch, as we know it’s always had a good reputation and has been here for years, although we’d not been for awhile. We weren’t disappointed and the food was still excellent quality. It’s a nice village pub selling typical pub grub which is all home made and we both ordered braised steak sandwiches which came with the best home made chips, salad and lush coleslaw. They had a varied menu and also have a specials board with all mains ranging from around £9-12. The portions are really good and you can also get light bite versions, for those who like smaller meals. For both meals and 2 pints of coke, it was approx £23 and worth every penny.

We have been coming to the half moon for a while now, we come for lunch or dinner. The menu is extensive, the food is brilliant and the staff are so friendly it is a pleasure to go. The portions of food are very generous. The prices are very reasonable as well. It’s just a lovely place to go to to relax and enjoy the atmosphere and really enjoy the food. We have been here with family and friends as well, i would recommend you book especially on a weekend because it is very busy

We all met here for lunch on a Wednesday and the place was packed - fortunately the table was booked previously. The food was very good and we all enjoyed what we chose...the chips were "real" chips, not frozen...absolutely delicious and very rare these days! The meals were very good sized portions - I couldn't eat it all, despite how much I was enjoying it!

Me & my granddaughter went for some lunch (she had been before) it was my first time, I can say my meal was absolutely beautiful. The staff were very friendly we had no sooner sat down & our food arrived. Absolutely amazing food would 100% recommend this place

Went for lunch here with family. Staff very friendly and welcoming. They allowed us to bring our dog. Food was served quickly and portions were HUGE! If you want amazing chips, this is your pub, proper homemade ones. Very good value for money, thank you.

The pub is comfortable, the staff efficient (they work damn hard) and the locals are …….. not interested in anything other than their own folk from the village (little Britain would have a field day) I have come here every week for 3 months for a few pints and to pay for 4 Sunday Dinners with not one local saying hello during this time, communication with strangers is not one of their strengths , it’s got a proper pub feel to it. The customers at the bar talk rubbish about football and glance at strangers coming through the door (I love this). The pub is busy with folk picking up takeaway Sunday lunches and the bar fills and empties every 25 minutes. Everyone seems to know everyone else. Conversation are engaged in from one end of the premises- shouting sometimes compulsory to get one’s point across. It’s an art. The ambiance is pleasant, the bar and dining area is furnished tastefully with decent art prints on the wall. No crappy brasses, peeing dogs or wet bar towels on site. In conclusion. Come, enjoy, observe and relax. Welcome to the Half Moon, Easington Village.

5 minutes off the A19, we stopped for lunch. What a pleasant surprise awaited us. Great choice of hearty, well cooked Pub Grub, at exceptionally good prices. My only disappointment is that we do not live close enough to visit frequently. Pleasant staff, both behind the bar & front of house. The portions are very generous, so go hungry.

Enroute to Northumberland, we arrived at the Half Moon by chance. It was absolutely amazing. We had the most delicious lunch at such a reasonable price. Great quality, well cooked, honest Pub food. Highly recommend.

Staff rude from the minute we walked in to the minute we left.....really bad customer service. Food was awful , chips were cold and burnt. And 90% of everything else was either undercooked or overcooked and bland . We will never be returning and advise anyone else to think twice.

Had lunch recently, always stop in here when I'm in the area. Always busy, always popular. A menu which always has something for me to enjoy, and this time was no exception. Warm Welcome, good beer good food and excellent service. What more could you ask for?

Nice starter and main course served by friendly staff. Drinks prices were pretty reasonable too. We felt that the desserts were over priced for pre bought and prepared products. Nice, but over priced.

Returned for another visit, about a year since our last, the pub/resturant was very busy and we were please we'd booked a table in advance most importantly we were not disappointed with what was to come. Staff very freindly, oblinging and most helpful .

We had a booked a table for my mams birthday meal, the food was nice although I do feel it may have just been kept warm until all the party had arrived as it came out just literally as the last member was taking their seat, the atmosphere friendly, the main bar was very packed.

Hadn't been here for a good 5 years. Hasn't changed, still great traditional pub food. I do agree that a lot of it is microwave heated. But from working in a similar pub I know that is standard. Either way it still tastes good. Mains, chips, salad. Its all so good. Never left anything on my plate. Easy place to go if unsure where to go for tea. It can get pretty busy so is usually best to book a table

On arrival we were greeted a warm and friendly member of the team. We were shown to the table that we reserved and we ordered drinks. As the whole party didn’t arrive at the same time we continued to wait. The staff were happy for us to wait and kept checking in in case we needed anything. When everyone was ready the order was taken swiftly and passed on to the chef. The food came after about 25 minuets and was piping hot. Great portions and fresh chips. The food was absolutely delicious and the full party were happy.

called in Friday 18th at 6pm after my Christine after she finished work for a tea time treat and we weren,t disappointed.i ordered duo of pork chops which were massive with chips and came with tomato,coleslaw, mushrooms, onion rings and salad. Christine had sweet chilli chicken wraps which came with same sides as mine. Meals came within 10 mins of ordering and all piping hot. first time been for a while and won,t be leaving it so long in future. perfect food and service from all staff.

Popped here after a shopping trip to Newcastle. Seated straight away. Wonderful Sundays dinner . Fresh veg, piping hot. Lovely meat and also got half lamb half chicken. Wish I lived in the area as would certainly visit again

The family had a birthday meal here. The food was lovely, fresh and piping hot. We are a selection from chicken burgers for the children to scampi, steak pie, beef and more. The portions were great plenty of food, sadly no room for a pudding. Service was excellent the staff are all very friendly. The pub was really busy good to see that since the last time I was here maybe 20 years ago it is still as busy as every. A lovely evening all round.

Visited this place on numerous occasions and never ever had any cause for complaint. Homemade fresh food with an extensive vegetarian menu. A large seating area and very friendly staff. Caters for everyone, small portions for the not so greedy ha ha. Sunday lunch is amazing, have to book though

Visited on a Saturday evening. Walked through the main pub to reach the restaurant, full and fantastic atmosphere. Had to ask to change tables as next to kitchen door and heavy draft. Shame to be seated there as there were plenty other vacant tables available. Very noticeable that tables were crammed in and when a couple sat at the next table they both had to sit together on the far side as not enough room to sit back to back. Staff took the order for drinks and food. I had the mixed grill and it was gigantic. I have a good appetite but I must have left half of it. Perhaps concentrate on quality over quantity but in fairness it was tasty. My company enjoyed their meals.

Four of us visited recently. We arrived at 7.30 and the bar was very busy but the restaurant was fairly quiet. Initially we were seated at a table directly adjacent to the kitchen door and every time the door opened there was a huge draft. We asked to be moved and the helpful member of staff found us an alternative table in a much better position. The food was very nice and the portions were enormous especially the mixed grill that a member of our party could not finish. The main issue we had was the requirement to go to the bar for our drinks. We ordered our first drinks from the bar when we arrived and carried them to our table. Our main course was served and we asked the waitress if we could order another round of drinks. She said "Sorry I serve the food not the drinks and you will have to go to the bar yourself". As the bar was crowded our main course would have been cold by the time we had ordered and paid for our drinks from the bar. We decided to finish our main course and go elsewhere for drinks.

Looking for somewhere new to go for lunch with family. Read the some of the reviews so decided to give it a go. Rang and made a booking for 4 in the restaurant.On arrival advised to bar staff table reservation would be on the table,could not find such table so ask a waitress who apologised and offered us 1 of 2 tables. Ordered just 2 starters both breaded mushrooms with garlic dip. Larger than average portions served which actually 3 of us enjoyed,and they where beautful, Mains where Hot Roast beef sandwich/chip, Roast of the day (large), Leek dumpling with mince and crab fish cakes.Beef sandwch was spot on for me, Both the roast of the day and leek dumplings were very tasy but the portions where HUGE (there is a small portion of roast of the day avaiable). These portions can put some people off the meal with there size and both sent back uneaten food, Observed this was happening at other tables too, so take note this is something to look at to save on food waste. Crab fishcakes ok. Desserts of merginue and carrot cake where delicious. Would have thought that if you are in a restaurant the Half Moon should also look at waitress service for drinks and food orders, not having to go to the bar to do the ordering, this would give diners a over all better experience of dining there.We would go back again in the future,but be more aware of the portions sizes.(Just to mention that both the newly refurbished toilets the cleanest we have ever visited while out dining, and that includes some 4 star hotels we have been to)

We had been shopping in a near by outlet and stopped here by chance! We were able to park right by the restaurant and made very comfortable with very attentive staff. Although we were supposed to go to the bar and order we were invited to stay in our table where a very nice member of the staff took our orders recommending some of their specials.We all ordered the same and we thoroughly enjoyed the most incredible hot roast beef sandwich you could wish for. Good meat done to perfection, juicy but not bloody, very nicely presented and finger licking good. If you are thereabouts make sure you pay them a visit!

Not been in the Half Moon for a long time and friend had commented how good the food was. We went one Wednesday lunchtime, met by a friendly lady behind the bar who served our drinks. quite an extensive menu but ordered and the food was delivered a short time later by a very pleasent staff member. Food was delicious, piping hot and good portions. Quiet pleasent atmosphere with polite and professional staff.

I booked for fathers day. Staff called prior to our visit and asked us to chose from menu and let them know 2 days before. As we were a larger party, this worked out well. Food was absolutely beautiful. It arrived hot and well presented. All members of the team were happy and very friendly. Our whole experience was great. They have also modernised the decor ad it looks great in the bar area.

We have been meaning to visit here for while as we used to come a lot a long time ago. So when we decided to have an evening out we picked here. We never thought about booking as it was a Thursday evening and we didn't think it would be busy but how wrong we were. Luckily someone just got up off a table as we came in so we managed to grab it. Even though the bar was busy we didn't have to wait long to be served with our drinks and gave us the menu's too. There was a huge selection from snacks to full meals both for the restaurant and the bar. We made our choice gave it to the bar staff and it didn't take long to come either. We both had the Hot Beef Baguette with cheese and it came with a side salad and lovely home cooked chips. We followed it with a piece of Lemon Meringue Pie ... it was all lovely. I have to say they have decorated the bar up lovely, the atmosphere is great and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. We had a lovely time there and will definitely be back again soon.

A friendly get together all there for restaurant opening good choice on menue order efficiently taken and served and then totally forgotten about rest of night not one waitress came back to table nothing cleaned away or asked if we wanted any dessert's we sat for a long period of time asked for the bill and left, they were busy in the bar also for food but no excuse as there was only 3 tables occupied in restaurant.

Visited here today with my wife and an old work colleague! Always reassuring when the place is busy! Great venue, clean and well set out, good selection of specials on the board as well as a comprehensive menu! I ordered the giant Yorkshire pudding with beef! Trade descriptions not required here! It was massive!! Another toad in the hole and my wife had the chicken.Three fantastic meals, my only comment, why don't you serve some jus with the chicken??£30 for three meals and drinks, great value!Thank you

We visited here on a whim as we both had been here years ago and remembered it being a good food pub. Once again we were not disapointed, we ordered steaks, 16 oz and a 12 oz, with one to be cooked "BLUE" I didn't really hold out much hope for that.Normally they come out rare or medium rare. How refreshing when they came out on a sizzling platter and cooked to perfection, I had also asked for no salad or garnish and this also was listened to, an uncommon experience. Restaurants always seem to insist on putting flowers and rabbit food on when not requested. Home made chips that accompanied the meal were lovely and what was even better was Tomato Ketchup came in a pot and not those stupid plastic sachets. We came out feeling full and satisfied at good value for money. decor was excellent /modern and a separate restaurant was available if you didn't wish to sit in the lounge area, we did and it was fine. All in all an excellent experience, one which we will repeat. Well done Half Moon.

Nicely set out with 3 distinct eating areas but poorly served by a small car park. Food is ok but occasionally a bit odd, for instance a hot beef sandwich (covered in gravy) and chips is served with coleslaw , salad and tomato. Food looks like it mainly comes out of the freezer but it is not as good value as Iceland. Very ordinary but pricey for what it is.

Dave and Rob where the perfect hosts we rang last minute whilst travelling and they made up a table instantly and ensured we were near the tv for a football game we wanted to see. The food and the service were excellent and the staff so polite and nothing was too much trouble. The pub was immaculate with separate sections for a pool table and sky tv a drinking area and dining room. Miss this place and you will miss out cant wait to go again. Thanks to all you made it perfect for us.

Out to celebrate Margaret's 50th with the family Service fantastic Food very nice affordable home cooked and plenty full Giant 32oz t bone steaks I had a braided steak melt with chips . Travelling up to Seaham from York with hubby & we decided to try & get in for Sunday lunch, good move! Restaurant was full so we ate in the bar, Food was gorgeous! Homemade Yorkshires loads of beautifully cooked Beef & tasty veg! For £6.95 as a chef myself I was well impressed! Would have loved a dessert but I was just too full! Staff were lovely, helpful & looked after you! Great place, great meal & lovely staff! We will be back!

I used to have lunch every Friday for many years when I worked locally so was nice to visit again for a family get together and meal. Great choice of beers and wines and a menu that has something for everyone. The decor is nice and the staff & service was excellent.I had the braised steak baguette with home made chips and fries and it was fantastic... absolutely loved it...and will be back again real soon

We were visiting the area for a family funeral and had two meals there. The service was swift and friendly and the food well prepared and served piping hot. The chips were absolutely awesome and worthy of the highest praise.

I had chicken fajitas and Mam has braised steak sandwich and chips and both were very tasty. Staff members were friendly. It's been done out which made it feel more open but still homely. We had a nice evening there.

We have often eaten here especially every New Years day it was a set Sundays lunch this year restaurant wasn't really that busy when we arrived ( maybe it had been) so straight to table - we ordered lamb dinners which meat was quite tasteless dried up on edges which was covered up by 2 small dried out hard Yorkshire puddings along with roasties that were that hard we couldn't cut them - we thought of keeping then for next golf open ( again no boiled potatoes) waitress didn't know what vegetables were available she didn't come back to let us know just brought meals so really the worst Sunday lunch we've ever had it's a good job they had a good dessert menue it helped fill the gap - it's obvious that the food had been kept warm from opening , it's a good job Eddie Eats had visited a few weeks ago and not 1st January as he wouldn't have scored it 17 out of 20 - my rating reflects that any decent restaurant regardless time of booking could see and would not serve up dried up food, maybe we were just unlucky that day - we would normally stay for the afternoon and have few drinks but we moved on instead.

We took a group of 14 young adults with a variety of different disabilities from school for Christmas Dinner. Not only did the staff manage to fit us in at short notice despite being fully booked, the food was amazing with a wide choice of menu and the staff were all brilliant. The caring attitude and quick service, some of our young people find waiting difficult, made this the most wonderful experience for both students and staff.

It's that time of the year again. Christmas lunch time. Once again had a delicious meal at the he half moon. Having had three Xmas lunches over the past couple of weeks this was by far the best. Tasty pate starter. All fresh vegetables on the main. Salmon cooked to perfection. And a most amazing toffee crunch dessert. Followed by tea/coffee and a mint chocolate. Friendly staff. The half moon has been beautifully redecorated since I was last there. Overall a great afternoon.

12 Of us met here for a 50th Birthday Meal.The Interior has had a complete refurb,what a delight,decor and seating is top notch.The food was first class,service excellent and cheery staff.A great night out.If you are in this area,call in the food is lovely and well affordable.

We, as a family have been to the half moon on a number of occasions and had previously had nice meals, however on our visit this week I decided to try the mixed grill, but quantity out weighed quality, all of the meat products were placed on a hot sizzling skillet, there was meat on top of other meat which made it difficult to see what to cut into. Not only that, it contains 3 pieces of liver ( which I like normally) and a very thin burger, however these were over cooked and I wouldn't of given it to my dog it was so tough. About half of the skillet I left as it was more fat, bones and inedible liver

My husband & I visited in september for a spot of weekday lunch and cannot fault the standard of the food and service. We opted for the Roast beef dinner (which is served as a small one or a large) & I have to say the small one was more than ample. There is an extensive Lunchtime menu along with "Specials" on the board so you will definitely not be stuck for choice (the minced beef & leek dumpling sounded divine"!). We also recently booked for sunday lunch (party of six) as we so often do and again we were highly satisfied, hence the return visits. The prices are very reasonable for home cooked food with generous servings and the only thing I would say if you are thinking of visiting, is to book in advance if there are few of you as the restaurant fills up very quickly especially for Sunday Lunch. All in all, great food, great service and cosy pub atmosphere.

We booked the sports side of the Half Moon for my 1920's style Bachelorette Party and my friends and daughter dressed up the whole room to a Gatsby Style decor. I walked in to a transformed intimate room with an exciting atmosphere. We didn't have food as my guests weren't particularly bothered and said they'd use regular bar meal menu if they were hungary. The staff were extremely polite and friendly, and looked after our needs. We had such a great time, the only downside was part of the room (beside the bar) was also open to public so we had a few people we didn't know moving around our party. The plus side for this room is the huge fireplace that had a real open fire which was lit as the place grew cooler. Definitely recommended for parties, or even just for a quiet meal at this beautiful original coaching inn, and I've heard they do a great Sunday lunch.

Recently refurbished village pub which can get quite busy at weekends.Eat in the restaurant or in the bar with at least two real ales on tap.Good menu with all the pub classics and all cooked fresh.Me and my missus visited last Saturday and the pub was quite busy but the service was great.We ordered lasagna Verdi and a steak with all the usual trimmings. Both delicious and followed by homemade sticky toffee pudding and custard.I asked for peppercorn sauce for my steak and when it arrived, it was homemade - very impressed.Nice atmosphere, nice decor, pleasant staff, good menu, great value, well made and presented food with good selection of drinks - spot on !

A pleasant surprise from our last visit 3 years ago in that they have decorated.Food was as we remembered, hearty, plentiful and hot.Great value for with a decent menu.One thing I did notice is that the main restaurant has too many tables and we found that some seats were impossible to sit on if there were people on the next table.

Recently refurbished but still the same good quality, good value food,with the same friendly staff. Well worth a visit for a meal out or for a celebration

Lovely pub grub, very popular, nice menu, friendly staff. Just what we needed. Our family enjoyed their meals and asked to go back again the next time they visit

The food was delicious. The service is fast and the prices are good. Best pub food I've tasted. The only fault is that the plates came out piping hot which wasn't ideal for the little ones. Definitely worth a visit.

Went here on the 26/8 for some tea. It has been decorated since I last went which is a major improvement. 1 pint of Trophy, a large coke and a large house red was a few pence short of a tenner so fairly average prices. I had the farmhouse grill which included chips and was very nice, hot and plenty of it. The wife had salmon and prawn dish, also hot and tasty. My son had the fajitas and there was enough to feed 2. It was around 50 quid for the meals and 2 rounds of drinks so not too bad value for money. If you want hot food and decent portions, this is as good as any in the area, maybe a little more expensive than the 5 qtr but less like the Star Wars bar. If you want fine dining like someone else already mentioned, probably not the place for you.

Went to restaurant on Saturday night with husband and friends was made welcome and did not have long to wait for food .The half moon has been revamped and decorated looks really nice and cosy . Definitely be going back

Lovely food had steak sandwich and chips, chips were lovely and homemade, gravy was not the cheap horrible stuff and really gave the food flavour. Lovely staff, really friendly and welcoming. If you're in the are get your self along.
