Bay Horse Inn in County Durham

La comida aquí era increíble. He visto este lugar, pero nunca he estado y me alegro de haberlo hecho! La carne era tan suave y mi hijo todavía estaba comiendo bien después de que terminamos. Nunca ha comido tanto cuando hemos estado fuera. No suelo publicar reseñas, pero esto valió la pena la mirada hacia arriba y sin duda volveré de nuevo!

Vamos cada semana si podemos mi madre y yo y tengo que decir que la cena es encantadora. No sé cómo alguien puede dar una crítica tan negativa como esa persona. inténtalo por ti mismo no tomes nota de los comentarios negativos. la cena es muy agradable el ambiente es muy agradable el personal es encantador bien vale la pena una visita

We were staying in Brandon village and went to the inn for dinner,staff were welcoming and friendly,food was lovely, maincourse portion of steak pie was beautiful but for both of us was just far too big.

Vi a Kyle v Food comer aquí y lo reseñó como “algunos de los mejores alimentos en el noreste”, además cuando miré hay un menú para perros. Ideal para un paseo para un perro viejo y pobre, y mi hija que era perro sentado. Solo se permiten perros en el lado del bar deportivo / pub - solo presta atención a esto - no traigas al perro si quieres la gran experiencia que tuvo Kyle v Food! Muchas groserías, v llamadas telefónicas fuertes y bromas de los lugareños. La lasaña se sirvió con ensalada lateral y las mejores papas fritas que he probado en siglos, envoltura de pollo frito del sur con papas fritas y ensalada también se informó encantador. Hamburguesa de perros con tocino era muy querido por el viejo Brian el laboratorio. Nadie me refirió a ningún especial, esperó 5 minutos en un bar vacío para ordenar. Fue agradable, sabrosa comida, pero no vale la pena el viaje de 50 minutos y el bombo cuando se sentó en el pub sucio.

Llamamos anoche para darle una oportunidad más después de leer tan buenas críticas tristemente me decepcionó mucho que esperamos tal vez 15 minutos en el bar consiguió nuestras mesas consiguió nuestras bebidas y pidió algo de comida. Pedimos los nachos que son agradables, luego había dos cazadores de pollos parmesano de pollo con papas fritas, luego pedí colgar surf y kebab de césped, con papas fritas y un baño mi hermana pidió el kebab de verduras con arroz como vamos a la mitad del arroz y papas fritas cuando llegó, mi kebab era Luke caliente uno de los trozos de carne estaba en realidad frío y las papas fritas probablemente se cocinaron cuatro veces y eran tibias. El otro kebab ni siquiera había sido puesto en una plancha en absoluto cada cosa en él era cruda las cebollas, los pimientos, el halloumi y sus patatas fritas eran exactamente como el mío como se puede ver nadie recibió el arroz que pedí el mío que tengo lo envié de vuelta. Espero 25 minutos por otro entremedio esperando. La porción de arroz de 25 minutos vino el kebab de segunda mano estaba bien, estaba muy decepcionado. Era como si quien estaba haciendo el cocinero y simplemente no estaba realmente preocupado tal vez estresado. No sé si ese es el caso, entonces consiga un personal adicional. ¿Por qué echarlo a perder para el futuro?

Seriamente decepcionado. Sobreprecio. ¡Sabía horrible! El menú decía crujir con el cerdo, pero no consiguió nada. , sin embargo la carne estaba bien / mediocre. Verduras totalmente cocidas, lavadas y sabrosas como líquido de lavado. El puré de raíces estaba sobre purificado y acuoso, no era comestible. Todo estaba en el plato. El relleno parecía haber golpeado el agua añadida a la mezcla y vertida en el plato en un desastre acuoso. El pudín Yorkshire no tenía crujiente y de nuevo era robusto. Toda la comida fue servida totalmente ahogada en una salsa que olía a comida para perros. Ni siquiera podría proporcionar un bote de salsa para que el cliente pueda determinar cuánta salsa agregar. Comí lo que pude porque tenía hambre pero nunca volveré a ir aquí. Mi recomendación... ¡Evita Evita! Ps la mostaza estaba deliciosa.

We ate here on two occasions last week due to staying in the village. Greeted by some friendly and welcoming staff in a clean and modern pub/ restaurant. Great home cooked food at a very reasonable price. 5 stars !

The room was a good size & clean when we got there. The down side it was the room freezing sll the time, the towel rail was never on so you couldn't dry the towel & it was cold. We didn't get the room cleaned for the 4 nights we spent there 😒

Food was average. The burger was so small the bun drowned it. Kids fish finger was ment to come with beans. Had to ask for them. The food was not eaten. She said it was not nice. The salad from the steak was on the floor from the lady carrying the plate. No apology. The staff all had a attitude. It was like we were inconvenience to them by being there. Won't be returning.

The food was gorgeous, big portions, the best chips! Service 2as great, warm and friendly. Will definitely be back

I had a very tasty Sunday roast dinner. Highly recommend. The establishment is divided. The pub entrance is through the front main door and the restaurant through the rear via the cottages/hotel car park.

We were staying at The Hen House holiday cottage in the village and the owner recommended this place for dinner one evening. We weren’t disappointed. The bar is in two section. One for locals who all seemed to have colds and tissues. The other half was very pleasant and the large restaurant at the back was a feast for the eyes. From jungle wallpaper to a zebra leaping out of the wall. Parrot lamps and gold cutlery all added to the uniqueness . Food was outstanding. Well worth a visit, friendly staff and reasonable prices. We both had the mixed grill. Wow!

It’s fine to bed down for the night. The room is spacious, but basic. The advantage is that it’s dog friendly. We were somewhat disturbed when a group of kids were deliberately walking past our window and throwing stones inside. We told them to stay away, but they were hanging around for hours. Their parents maybe inside the pub whilst these kids played outside. It put us off going into the pub for a meal, and instead got a takeaway from the local Chinese. There’s parking outside our room, but it’s shared with the pub patrons.

Had Sunday lunch here and the food is superb. Would definitely recommend booking prior as it is always busy.

Visited last night . Food was gorgeous. Very generous in portion size . I live in the village and will definitely be returning.

Went as a couple,mixed grill and burger were amazing,all meats cooked perfectly and portions are huge,home cooked chips were lovely,also stayed for drinks,reasonably priced with drink deals and bar staff were very chatty and welcoming,deffo be back again.

Visited this evening for food and a catch up. George and Carly made us feel super welcome and really looked after us. The menu offers a lot of the absolute classics, so plenty of choice to be had. We both had the Malaysian curry with king prawns. It was delicious! And portions were good too. We will definitely be going back.

Hidden Gem , from walking in everyone so friendly , ordered food it came fast fresh totally delicious, scampi double fried chips and salad was delicious proper scampi , burger was too ordered onion rings to share they where fabulous, definitely will be visiting again 😋

Visited for a family birthday. We were a party of 30. Meals were delicious, however we waited 19 minutes after other family members for our food, also staff continually stood at open door chatting which made our table very cold. The ambiance if the dinning area is very nice.

We went for a meal Saturday night (6 of us), not great overall, however the food was basic but pretty good. The sports bar was like a creche but good to watch the end of the match. Quite a nice restaurant but lacking any sort of supervision, the waitresses tried and we tipped them. We asked for Chardonnay and was told they had none ? so we asked for Prosecco and was told they had none ? so we asked for house white and was given a glass to try but the girl never returned LOL. Oh come on this is supposed to be a restaurant. We ordered steak and this was done correctly and a nice cut. We ordered surf and turf kebab skewers, this came without skewers ??. This could be so much better with a little care and attention, and a little staff training. Has the management given up or has this just been took over ? Left 3 stars and think this is a fair grading based on the experience. I am always willing to take down reviews if the owners ask. Oh sorry I forgot to say it was all reasonably priced.

Great place to stay staff are so lovely especially the manager she will go out of her way to help you and make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible..her husband is a real friendly guy also willing to help with anything thankyou.

Very nice food and good service

Came here with my partner. The room itself was spacious and warm. The bathroom was basic but also had plenty of room. The bed was big but could feel the springs. The shower was a bit iffy as if you moved it off the number it was set at youd only get very cold water from it.. but I worked with it as best I could. This is a no frills hotel ie they don't serve food on site currently and the room just has tv, kettle/ tea & coffee. The furniture was decent. Though the cushions on the bed had stains. The most amazing thing were the bath towels - which were very comfortable. I didn't notice anywhere v close by serving food except a chinese takeaway maybe a mile down the road from it so id advise taking your own bits there although note there is no fridge in the room.. parking is a bit hit & miss as it is also a pub car park and i noticed some of the locals used it. The check out is at 10am for some reason which seems super early by hotel/motel standard check out times, but they do inform you when you check in of the checkout time. I would stay here again.

It's ok but rooms felt damp and need a makeover

Dreadful. Previously phoned the hotel we were told that breakfast could be ordered on arrival as there was a restaurant available at the hotel. When we arrived we were told that the chef had left so no restaurant service and they were hoping for a replacement next week, no one advised us of the change of circumstances We were then asked to pay in full. However my bank statement shows I had paid in full a month ago. We returned home directly without staying. We are very disappointed with no break and to have wasted time and money on a 270mile round trip.

Okay for overnight stay. Beds listed as accessible have bathtub and not walk in showers. During covid they are not serving any breakfast but restaurant is open at night!!

Booked as a last minute getaway for me and partner, staff were lovely they couldn't help enough, room was basic but clean however well worth what we paid probably worth a bit more tbh, we ordered a bite to eat and it was lovely (try the homemade chips) I will be returning, and please give it a go it's well worth the price.

First time customers. Live in a nearby village. Ordered a Pork Sunday Dinner and a Beef Sunday Dinner. THE MEALS WERE AMAZING!. Been unwell, and fatigued and couldn't cook our own dinner so decided to order this via JustEat. The meals arrived well presented. Polite delivery. Food was well cooked, not undercooked, not over cooked, not greasy. JUST PERFECT. The meals cost £8 each and each dinner filled our home plates twice over. BEAUTIFUL FOOD. 10/10

Stayed here for 2 nights,the rooms are spacious and comfortable.The breakfast is very good value and the evening meals are very filling(mainly italian)Would be nice to see a bit more choice on the evening menu.Last orders is at 10 o'clock which I found a bit strange and wi-fi needs improving.

This is an excellent place.people so very friendly and will help you if they can.the locals are a mixture of trades.bar staff are very welcoming to you,and as the first I wrote they will bend over backwards to help.food is superb and cater for all.over all a 5 star for my visit.. fantastic old and local village pub..be back again for sure.try it out.you will not be disappointed at all.

It was very nice, would've been 4 stars but my room was a little chilly. The food in the restaurant was great and the portion sizes huge- which was very much appreciated. Bed was very comfy.

Good pub food, friendly staff. Public and lounge bars. Also a restaurant which wasn't open when I was there. But no draught bitter, only keg: which has cost them half a star. Room large and comfortable, but ensuite needs redecorating to get rid of the mold around the shower. Also WiFi in rooms poor. Lost half a star for that.

Great local business with very good food and not expensive at all

What a fantastic stay! The Inn has a homely and warm atmosphere! The rates are very affordable. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and warm. The breakfast was tasty and so was the evening meal. We didn'twwait long for our. We were sorry to leave BUT will definitely be back. We can recommend this accommodation.

Lovely traditional pub with an open fire

Very friendly welcome the chalet type room is immaculate and cozy and warm. Only thing is the rooms are a bit too far from the router so no internet access in the rooms have to use the main pub for that. But all.in all that is a minor inconvenience

Me and my friend called in on a monday night. Food isnt served on a monday. The lounge is beautiful and welcoming and we were the only 2 in here all night but the bar was full of contractors. Nice pleasant staff. Hotel room was lovely clean and spacious everything we needed for our stay.

Recently visited for Sunday dinner. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious, especially the gravy! Desserts were also fantastic, best jam roll poly I’ve had, will definitely be back!

Arrived for 1 night with 3 friends. Great value for price compared to Durham town centre. Had some issues with the room bed was a broken. Was offered a separate double room free of charge much appreciated. Friendly and polite hosts. Food is god at reasonable price. Would recommend.

Great Staff and very friendly and very helpful during our stay. The breakfast was excellent and sets you up for the day. The evening meals were OK from a limited menu. That being said, we would visit again.

Having stayed at the Bay Horse for the last 15 years, after the last management we decided we would not return (nothing against staff as they were always friendly). However hearing that the previous manager had been evicted, we thought we'd give it another try, and hooray, The Bay Horse is back giving friendly service, good food and the new management going out of their way to make your visit memorable. My wife and I stayed here for two nights on a trip to Durham. We were very impressed with the room, which was large with all the expected amenities. The main downside was that the free WiFi wasn't working throughout our stay, which was rather inconvenient. The breakfast (included) was a full English (bar hash browns), with cereals and toast. As cooked breakfasts go, I found it middling in terms of amount and how well cooked it was, but this is rather subjective. The continental side made up for shortcomings. Overall, for the price, it was well worth the money. Being only half an hour from the city centre by bus, it nicely combined the city and country.

Food was excellent, and staff very friendly and helpful.

Myself, my mother and 3 teenagers spent the night here on the 25th. We arrived later than expected (a phone call okayed this), and were welcomed by a really helpful, friendly young woman. She went out of her way to make sure all was ok, and advised us on morning traffic situations, etc. All slept well in warm, comfortable and clean rooms. We didn't use the bar unfortunately but full English breakfasts (4 veggie, 1meat) were 1st class! Only took us 20 minutes to get to Durham University next morning, avoiding most of morning traffic thanks to (sorry, I can't remember name!) staff warning night before. We'll definitely stay here again. Excellent value for money in a lovely, village pub setting and so friendly and helpful.

We visited the Bay Horse for Sunday Lunch and at about £8 a head for a choice of roasts, with excellent accompaniments, this is hard to beat. In particular, the beef and the way it was cooked was better than in many restaurants serving Sunday Lunch at twice this price. It was beautifully soft, still with a roast flavour and thick cut - delicious. And the pork was just as good. We’ll be back - the team we’re very welcoming and hats off to the Chef. We gave it 4 overall because some would find the restaurant a bit plain in character - but don't let this put you off.

Wasn't sure what to expect but I'm really pleased to say it welcoming, clean and a great family-like atmosphere.

I stayed here while on business nearby. Met very friendly and helpful staff at this small pub with accommodation. Meals are freshly cooked and generous. Rooms are basic and a little tired but very clean. Bed was very comfortable and the room had everything you needed. The landlord has only been in charge for the last 6 weeks but I'm sure this will be a place that you will need to book well in advance. Great value for money. I will definitely stay here again when I'm next up this way.

I stayed with my daughters the night before my wedding. All the staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay a great experience. We booked the family suite and the bigger double room for the wedding night. Both rooms were fantastic and very comfortable. We are already booking to go again in January. Thank you to all who helped make our stay a pleasant one.

This is the second time we have stayed here last year we were well looked after and first impressions are the same this year 15th to the 16th of September

Nice rooms, very clean, only problem is that half the lamps are missing their bulbs! The pub has great food, large portions but excellent quality. The continental breakfast was good too.

We had a really good time there

Stayed for work. But very much enjoyed myself. Helpful, friendly staff when I checked in, offering help and advice beyond what would be expected. Only down was the lack of Wi-Fi signal in the room. But with a strong 4G signal this wasn't so bad. Would be more than happy to go back.
