We went for a meal, booked for 5pm. Had a lovely meal, not many eating at that time, which was good for us

Fabulous atmosphere Very varied menu, delicious food, big portions & great customer service

We stayed the weekend 23rd May leaving bank holiday Monday. We were in room 3. A beautiful room which had everything you needed. Including a powerful hairdryer. Bed was super comfy. Shower was powerful and hot. Staff were amazing. Breakfast faultless and delicious. Met some lovely locals (man in bat man suit and his mate) had a laugh joined in quiz. Will be back.

Ive just been in for lunch for my mam's birthday and the service was very poor and the food was dry.. ive ner had a complaint in the past but i wont be back in a hurry, i had ssked for the dessert menu and nobody came back to take our order so i just got up and paid the bill and went!!!

Lovely meal in a warm atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Even for my Father in law, who was in a wheelchair. Enjoyed our evening.

Really busy enjoyable food. Asked for a medium wine, a large one was brought and charged for. Asked for pouring cream with dessert it came with ice cream. I just smiled and ate it.

The staff are fantastic, so friendly and thoughtful. Great place for food and a pint. We didn't stay here sadly but went for every meal. Will be back soon.

We used the restaurant at lunchtime as our granddaughter wanted to eat in. Good service by pleasant and friendly staff who were very helpful. The lunch menu was good with enough choices for younger people. The serving of fish and chips was enormous. Would thoroughly recommend

Went for a Sunday lunch at 2pm for 8 people. Brilliant and polite staff who were quick and professional. Food was of excellent quality and quantiy. Will definitely go back.

Chips looked good but sat outside

The food is alright but the service is a huge let down. They're nice enough but absolutely clueless with allergens. Menu doesn't state what is or can be made gluten free. We asked what is GF and they said "tell us what you want and we'll work around it". Ordered the Cumberland ring, did the obligatory paperwork etc. then 20 mins later they come out to announce it's impossible to make that GF (sausage with wheat in is the sign of a poor quality sausage btw). Anyway place another order (again obligatory paperwork). Service was slow enough as it was without all this. Same happened with the desert for someone who was dairy free. The food itself is ok but nothing to write home about. Absolutely wouldn't be going here if you had a really serious allergy or coeliac. How you can be making people sign paperwork when you can't even tell folk what is or isn't gluten free is beyond me.

I had the roast of the day today and it was amazing ! This is the difference between having a chef on site and cooking from scratch to other places where anyone is the cook because its all frozen .I give it 110 %

Fui a almorzar como no lo había sido en mucho tiempo y puedo decir que no volveré pronto. Cada vez que he estado (al menos 10 veces) me han servido la sopa equivocada. Estaba ocupado, pero tomó alrededor de 15 minutos para obtener 2 pintas de Pepsi y tomó alrededor de 45 minutos para obtener comida servida. Tampoco me impresionó la comida, el pudín Yorkshire sabía como si hubiera sido hecho hace 2 días y la salsa era extremadamente salada. El gammon que era de £ 14 estaba muy sobrecocinado, pero las fichas eran agradables. La única razón por la que consigue 2 estrellas es el hecho de que una de las camareras era muy servicial, pero el otro servicio no era genial. A menos que tengas unas horas de sobra y no te importe conseguir lo que no pediste, no me apresuraría a venir aquí.

We were there for a 60th birthday celebration. The head waitress looked haughty and a bit grumpy. We were ignored a bit really and had to ask eventually to have the desert menu.... it was a shame as it was an important celebration for our group. The food was good, it was packed and the restaurant is beautiful.

Popped in for a drink with a view to returning to eat soon. Nice busy pub with decent front bar and large dining areas out the back. Excellent choice of well kept ales. Pleasant staff. We plan to return for a meal soon

Had the Sunday roast. The brisket was really good as were the Yorkshire and roasties. Veg was much harder than 'al dente' (except the nice carrots which appeared to be confit) and whilst I am a mushy pea fan, don't quite think they fit on a Sunday roast. Each to their own though I suppose. Extra gravy without even asking much appreciated. Strange to order the drinks before the food, yet the food arrive first. Clearly an efficient kitchen but it created a feeling of being a bit rushed. Good value though and will likely return.

Called in for refreshments and a bar meal very nice not large but good value and tasty.

Always friendly, well staffed and a pleasant atmosphere. Busy, but wait times are never a problem. Will cater to special requests. Nice menu range that don’t cost an arm and a leg. New favourite!

A menudo visito este pub y la comida siempre ha sido encantadora. Visité hoy para un té caliente de la tarde. El té de la tarde no se veía igual que el anunciado, el anuncio se veía delicioso. Nada como el que tenemos. El pescado y las patatas fritas eran grasientas. Los bollos eran muy pequeños y los dulces de pastel se veían terribles. ¡No comí nada como sentí náuseas después del pescado grasiento! Era el regalo de cumpleaños de mis nietas. Les dije esto un par de veces, pero no alboroto o reconocimiento si esto. Definitivamente no recomendaría este pobre té de la tarde más caro. Qué pena. No volveré por otro.

Fui a celebrar el cumpleaños de mi tía con la familia en un almuerzo. El restaurante estaba ocupado. Personal del bar en restaurante muy servicial y alegre. Los 4 elegimos diferentes platos del menú. Solo puedo comentar sobre mi propia comida, elegí bistec & ale pastel, etc. El pastel estaba caliente y sabroso, las patatas fritas son patatas fritas, y tanto los guisantes como la salsa estaban calientes en el mejor de los casos. Mi tía atrapó a uno de los camareros y dijo que mis guisantes y salsa no estaban muy calientes, se disculpó y reemplazó a ambos. Todos nuestros platos fueron limpiados, nos dieron un postre gratis para la mesa como una forma de rectificar las cuestiones anteriores. El restaurante es muy popular, y esperábamos no tener nada de qué quejarnos. A mi tía le regalaron una botella de Prosecco como regalo de cumpleaños. Buen toque. Todo el personal era genial.

Found this place last week 3rd January 2025 staff lovely food was very nice, try if looking for somewhere new bit out the way in leamside near rainton.

Sunday lunch was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpfull.

Breakfast was good but not great. Pancakes were cold. Poached eggs mass product. Bacon a too much fat. Cleaners wondering about... doing their job - but was getting my Breakfast

After waiting for over twenty minutes at the Farmhouse Kitchen without an order being taken we walked out and across the road to the three horseshoes pub. Within less than three minutes we had a delicious hot coffee in front of of us, guess who will get my custom in future!

Found this nugget while travelling back to Yorkshire. What an amazing find ,fabulous food and the picky kids ate the lot.Lamb was too die for.Friendly staff and nothing to much.We will be back

First time here and was having a girlie's Xmas lunch. Wasn't expecting much as at this time of year pubs tend to lower standards. However I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious. Although it was packed the service was still good and we had a nice table and view. Its set in a lovely little village so you will need a car but there is ample street and car parks. The afternoon tea looked lovely so we intend to go back for that in February.

Pre Christmas meal with friends was delicious beef with a large Yorkshire pudding

We stayed one night for bed, breakfast and dinner. The room was a good size with all that is required in both bedroom and bathroom. The evening meal that we had booked was the Festive Fayre, three excellent courses, the main being huge. Delicious food, reasonably priced wine and great service from all the staff. Breakfast was multi choice and freshly cooked to our wishes. Only ten minutes drive from Durham park and ride, so very convenient. We would definitely book here again when next in the area. Highly recommended.

Went with friends for christmas fair. Started with prawn cocktaiI ( 5 prawns in a tiny glass with a bit lettuce and a blob of Marie sauce, had to ask for bread and a bun for one soup. Never got a bun and waitress bought 1 slice of bread cut into 4. I had beef and others had turkey (both very dry) cold yorkshire pud 1 parsnip, 2 small roasties, 1 tablespoon of mash on plate with a bit gravy. veg was bought in a small dish. It consisted of 3 small bits of cauli, 2 pieces of broccoli, 4 new pots, and a few carrots between four people. xmas pud was a joke too (2 bites) and a tbl sp of brandy sauce. I wish i had taken photos For the price we paid It was very poor, and If i was booked in for xmas day i would cancel

We have enjoyed many meals at The Three Horseshoes but it’s time to try somewhere new. A very basic Christmas meal……Turkey without the trimmings! No cranberry sauce no stuffing no roast parsnips ……minimal veg plate to share between 6 adults Many requests for more gravy ……..did not arrive Many requests for wine that eventually arrived however we were charged for all of the requests when the wine was not received!

I took my mum here for her birthday. The staff, first Emma, then Emily, were incredible and made my mum feel awesome. We all came away so happy and will return! ❤️

Pleasant staff, lovely food. Restaurant very busy for Sunday lunch, but the staff were pleasant and food excellent.

Eight of us ate here on a Saturday evening. We usual struggle to find somewhere which we all enjoy but succeeded with the Three Hotseshoes! The menu was extensive with plenty of choice for everyone in our party. We all very much enjoyed our meals including the kids. The food was decent value for money and the portion size was just right - enough for a bigger appetite like mine but not so much as to leave you feeling unpleasantly full. The food and drink were served efficiently by the friendly and attentive staff. There was a choice of 3 or 4 real ales. We tried a couple and they were both very drinkable! We would certainly return here again. Highly recommended!

Had lunch today for my wife's 80th birthday. We enjoyed 4 mains, 4 sweets, bottle of wine, 4 beers and excellent service for a little over £25 each. Its the second time we've been, but it won't be the last.

Booked last minute as a stopover on a long journey and would definitely stay again. Immaculate throughout, big room with extra touch of takeaway cups to make a drink to take with you. Ate in restaurant, service was fast and food fantastic. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Opened curtains to a lovely view onto a field of horses. 100% recommend

First visit today. Called in without booking and were seated quickly. The decor is lovely and the large dinning area we sat in was bright and airy and although it was busy, we didn't feel crowded. The staff were pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. There was a lot to choose from, the regular menu, a lunch time menu and light bites as well as specials. Our food arrived quickly and was very good. The portions were generous but not so big that we couldn't manage pudding, which is a good thing as the crumble was delicious. The price was reasonable for two courses and drinks. We'll definitely go again.

Wonderful food and great service. 'Black Spot's porter like drinking chocolate. Skate wing very delicate and very well balanced with the spicy sauce. Can't comment on rooms as haven't stayed. Lovely evening.

Had lunch here, menu to cater for all tastes and specials available. Staff very friendly and attentive and modern decor. We had light bites option, starter, main and desert which were still good portions.

Our meal was poor , service was not the best and the beer was awful , of the four of us found the food average , and that was been polite , it was definitely better before the extension .

Food is very poor to average and well over priced. Choice of real ales is good but the wine is poor. The decor is very nice but the food just let's it down - I guess it is down to what you are use to and what standard you are willing to accept!

The place is spotless, the meals are excellent, the staff are very, very, very friendly and always smiling. I get the mixed kabab meal with Raj's hot sauce 😋. Can't fault the place.

Lovely food here, service was slow though, waiting staff not very attentive, waited ages for the bill, asked if we wanted the sweet menu, said yes then they didn't bring it out. But food we ate was superb, gave up on the dessert, and left.

We often eat here, but on the last three occasions have been disappointed due to mix up with our order. Today we were just deciding to try somewhere new next time (after a 35 min wait for food + incorrect order again) when Holly saved the day by noticing our disappointment and doing something about it. Holly's pro-activity means we will visit again. We wish all the staff were as good as her!

Great selection of food and drinks with a great atmosphere and helpful friendly staff

I love the Three Horse Shoes as it’s a true village pub and Daryl with he’s fantastic team run a great operation. However, yesterday I was so fed up of the Banks Home development site build, I took off walking with my dog. Popped into the pub and had a great couple of hours. Fabulous Thai Linguine, great selection of non-alcoholic drinks but most of all great conversation with a fabulous bunch of people.

Stayed here for 3 nights , rooms a good size and well appointed. Very friendly and welcoming staff . Food was excellent extensive menu and plenty of choices for breakfast .

Great local pub meal, offer good value for money with extensive menu to choose from. The chicken Parmesan was great, served with chunky chips and salad. Would have this again. The roast beef was also great and generous with three slices of thick tender pull apart beef. The vegetables sides rather grey and bland. The carrot was honey roasted, but the rest was plainly cooked. Overall great meal and we would come back 👍🏼

Celebrated my 30th birthday with some afternoon tea with my husband, sister, her partner and our 6 month old. The atmosphere was amazing, they had decorated the table with banners and balloons. The afternoon tea was lovely and filling for the price it was well worth it. Unlimited tea and coffee. Service was great, staff were polite and helpful. Would definitely go back

Once on arrival was handed food menu we had to ask for the dri ks menu felt rushed as we were still wait for another two guests to arrive. No gluton free option. My family had arranged this for my husband and i 40th wedding anniversary. The whole party of people at our table was very disappointed and annoyed at the service. Plus we odered another round of drinks we are still awaiting of a bottle of beer to be brought to table . This is not acceptable and will not be coming back so i can safely say this was the worst anniversary get together i have ever had . I have been during the day for food and drinks and had no problems staff member very nice new what they were doing service excellent that is why we choae to come her to celebrate out special anniversary.
