Nice fish & chips. The pea fritter was also very good. Would recommend it to everyone. It was busy too queuing out of the door.

Not long lived in Ivybridge so first time trying the food from here and was very happy I did . Really friendly staff dished up extremely good quality food and very tasty food it was . Definitely recommend

Went in yesterday evening. all members of staff stood on their phones when I walked in. Ordered food, and the lad put it in to cook and went straight back on his phone.. didn’t wash his hands either. fish was average… maybe not worth the price Chips an curry sauce were tasty though

Just gave me a 10/10 fish and cheese chips with jumbo battered sausage and curry sauce. Batter was on point! Good job 😋. Get ya self down there!!

It is very frustrating that the only way to place an order now is on Facebook, it is penalizing those of us that choose not to join this social media platform - for personal reasons. You can ring but get a pre recorded message, can’t leave a message. Only way to get your meal is to join a long queue with a long wait. As good as the food is we would go elsewhere if there was a choice. There are many elderly people that do not use social media, why are you penalizing us??

It seems a shame that such lovely food can only be ordered by Facebook. There are many of us who will not sign up to Facebook. They don’t take phone orders so even disabled people have to stand and queue instead of being able to order ahead.

Great fish and chip shop. Travel from Plymouth and always hot when we get it home. Phil is always friendly as are the rest of the team.

Chips are always nice and chunky Very crispy I always get a chicken royale with chips and honestly couldn’t be a better meal ask for extras or things to be cooked how u like they will always do it for you couldn’t ask for better customer service and just overall food quality is amazing

Eaten here a few times now and always rated the fish and chips and hadnt had it for a few months so thought we would get it again! The fish was terribly greasy and the chips were frozen chips which they never were before! All for the same price! Sorry to say wont be having it again gone downhill

What a gem the best Breakfast we’ve had in ages the coffee was spot on the children ate all of it normally they are so fussy original Heinz ketchup all the. Product was top quality

We go there regularly and this has to be one of the best fish and chip shops around, with a good choice of menu, consistently good quality, generous portions and fast service. You can now order and pay in advance using Facebook.

Since the pandemic, this restaurant gave stepped up and shown great organisation and have been great on social distancing. The staff all wear PPE and are very welcoming and friendly, unlike La Pizza Loca. Much recommended.

Delicious hake and chips. Dead good value at £5.50 and a big portion. Cheerful and efficient service. A really lovely treat.

Food is pretty good here, portions are generous. There is a choice of small or large fish which is useful. Fried chicken is really tasty. Will return again.

A few years ago I found overpriced, by for the last 18 months they have really improved.the fish and chips ,they are cooked to perfection.great price freshly cooked.i will even now drive from Plymouth to pick up fish and chips since moving.,great keep it up

The best fish and chips we've ever eaten. Friendly staff, freshly cooked to order so not sat around for ages. Great crispy batter, the chips are amazing! Chicken bites are real chunks of chicken. Worth a short wait for amazing food. Highly recommend!! Clean and fresh inside. New signage and great electronic menu's. Great price and great choice. The grilled fish fish is amazing too!! Cannot wait for their new upstairs restaurant to open!!

We popped in for a quick lunchtime takeaway of pie and chips today and I was served by a terse young man who demanded £9 for the meal.I was told to wait outside while the meal was cooked and I took the time to check the prices of the pies which £3.20 each and the chips £2.60.When we got home we found the pies had a lot of pastry encasing fresh air.For the price I paid I expected a tasty meal and except for the chips it was a total waste of money.

We booked and paid for our fish and chip meal online, which was quick and easy, and saved us a lot of time and trouble.On arriving at the fish bar, there was quite a crowd outside waiting for their meals to be ready, but having pre-booked, my waiting time was a mere 5 minutes, and the food was handed to me speedily and efficiently.Everything we had ordered was present, the quality was very good, and there were far more chips than six diners could eat in one meal.All in all, a very good choice.

We have 5 meals cooked freshly every week And have never had a bad meal. The way the system has been adapted for Covid must be difficult with a busy road outside the door but I have never had to wait. I call at 4 and order. Collect and pay at 6.30 It’s been better than just waiting.The lady behind the counter has to be strict because of the situation but she’s perfectly polite.

Many times we have spent money as a treat each week here with the cod and chips. Not anymore, the last three times the cod was rubbery/leathery and most of the chips are scraps of pieces from the bottom of the fryer. Don’t know if we were unlucky three times and had the old stuff left from a lunch serving but definitely won’t be back as not worth the money anymore, will find a new establishment as customer service sadly lacking on one occasion in particular when the woman behind the counter was rather rude to my partner for kindly mentioning to them that their phone line was not working and was met with hostility! Please try harder as this has now become a disappointment where it once was something delicious to look forward to.

Ordered the fish and chips, sausage and chips and a chicken burger. The chips were bit soggy by the time we got home but overall it was good. Would definitely go back soon!.

Just had the larger cod and chips and at least half the 'chips' are completely inedible, hard overcooked scraps off the ends of potatoes. Very poor quality.A complete waste of money. It's not the 1st time we have had this happen to us but it will be the last. I have included a photo of the inedible 'chips'.

Visited on a fairly quiet Friday evening - both fish and chips were freshly cooked, crispy and delicious. Generous portions too and a very friendly service.

Generally good with decent size portions. Cod, chicken and sausage, both plain and battered, are good but on occasions the chips can be let down by being undercooked or overly greasy

If what we had this evening from this chippy is the norm then it will be off the menu!! Large Fish and chips, two small sausages and a large chips= £13.20.Smallest LARGE fish I’ve ever seen, and the chips were mainly small and over cooked no use to make a chip butty, the sausages were ok as they were for the kids but even they complained about the chips.The boxes they are served in are impressive lol

Really good fish and chips from this chippy. Freshly made to order. Great batter, tasty succulent fish with great chips. What’s not to like. You can take your fish and chips upstairs to sit inside and eat which was great for us on our second visit as we were ready to set off back home and just needed to eat first. Just to note this is cash only

This local chippy has been here for many years having changed hands a few times. Situated in the centre of Fore Street. It's modern and well presented. Although they do not have a table service upstairs anymore you can take your food and drink up there to enjoy freshly cooked and hot on the premises at no extra cost. They also do a lunchtime special offer of smaller fish and chips discounted. It's very popular and can be busy at peak times. They have a varied menu on offer. I am unsure if they cater for gluten free batter. They cook using rapeseed oil. Give it a try I am sure you will not be disappointed.

We tried this for the first time last saturday as our village only has a mobile F&C; van once a week. My order was taken promptly and arrived about as fast as you could hope for. Nicely packaged. Piping hot . Not the cheapest but reasonable value for huge portions. Next time we will have 2 cod and share the chips!

The go to place for fish and chips. My wife says it is the best and I'm not going to argue. Prices have crept up which is a shame and an occasional smile wouldnt hurt but I would recommend it.

I think this must be the best fish and chip shop almost anywhere. The fish is always superbly cooked with the most excellent batter and never greasy. The portions are massive and compared with my local chip shop in Kingsbridge incredible value. One large portion of chips is enough for three people! I’ve not tried any of the other items on the menu as there seem little point as the fish and chips are so good. They only take cash so don’t get caught out

Every week have a takeaway from here .The fish is always the best quality and the batter is crispy never oily the chips likewise.This standard is always the same no matter when taken.

Food is nice had fish and chips, chips and burger, sausage and chips. All well cooked pipping hot as cooked while you wait. But got very expensive.

Popped in for fish/chicken supper. Chicken breast was in batter and our curry sauce was missing. Fish was nice but chips were very crunchy.

It's not the best fish and chips but it's not the worse either,this place is not and miss some days it's fresh and tasty other days the chips are dry the fish is over greasy and on this occasion the chicken was so dry you couldn't even swallow it. Unfortunately it's the only chippy in Ivybridge so wouldn't use it out of choice as had alot better.

I am a regular here and happily make the 45 minute round trip to enjoy quite simply the best fish and chips I have ever had. Its almost always busy but the staff are friendly and acknowledge you straight away, my order is taken quickly and accurately and its usually only a short wait until I get my hands on a huge, delicious portion of their chips. They don't use bleaching chemicals to keep their potatoes white, which seems to give them a really fresh taste or maybe they just change their oil more often than other shops! I even like their boxes, its bio packaging, so no nasty polystyrene either. Staff always seem really polite and friendly, so I will definitely be coming back again and again.

Love coming here for fish and chips even though I live in Plymouth (roborough) when I get them home they are hot and tasty. Great customer service and excellent food.

We had a 20 minute journey home, popped the fish n chips in the oven for 5 minutes to heat up and they came out superb.. Guys, to get this right please great your customers, smile and treat like them like you want them to come back! Your greeting and reception isn’t the most welcoming!!

I had chicken pie and chips my son just had chips. Very polite, good service and the chips were bloody lovely well cooked and crispy. Apparently my son told me this was due to rape seed oil being used. Thank for a cracking lunch.

Can't confess to having anything but fish and chips but the Ivy Fish Bar serves a good fish and chip supper in a nice clean atmosphere. The staff are always friendly, happy and it's a pleasure to wait - speedy service too.

Went there this evening. Hubby just asked if the veggie burgers were vegan and was met with real hostility! We were only enquiring and the way the man spoke to my husband was unbelievable! We are only up the road but will never buy from here again! Disgusting way to talk to customers.

Hard over cooked chips with what seems like a stale steak pie. Very very poor. Save you money and go to South Brent chip shop.

Every time I visit Ivy Fish Bar, I’m met with a warm welcome from the brilliant staff and have never been disappointed with my order. Best fish and chips around, perfectly crisp batter and the chips are never soggy. Worth every penny.

Sooooo good me and my girlfriend got told about this chip shop by a friend and as we live in Plymouth it was a bit far but we was passing through so we tried it and so so glad we did as it was brilliant we took it home witch is a about 8 miles and it was all still hot there was a wait as It was busy but it looked like they cook it when your waiting the staff were friendly and the shop looked very clean 100% going back more often

Bought 2 fish and chip takeaways on Saturday, only to find when I got home and unwrapped them I must have got the dregs of the chip bin as they were completely inedible, unfortunately, it would have meant a six mile round trip to return and complain so IF I visit again I will check them before I leave Ivybridge, which a customer should not have to do!!

I travel from Plymouth because I find this establishment the best in the area. The locals all love it which is always a good sign and therefore it can be busy at peak times. I have always found the staff to be friendly and polite.

I must have had decent take away fish and chips from here twenty times over the last couple of years. However, something has gone wrong recently with The Ivy Fishbar. The batter isn't so crispy, the chips are fewer and more scrappy and the staff give you the evils if you turn up later than half an hour before closing time.

Excellent fish and chips, they do go a bit overboard with the salt on occasions. We use them alot and 95% of the time they're perfection. The Ridgeway branch for some reason taste slightly better again though hence the 4/5.

So, I left myself, I thought, plenty of time time after a few beers to get a fish and chip supper from the Ivy Fish Bar. I arrived at 9.14 to order and the place was closed! It says 9.30 on the door, but apparently it closes at 9ish. What was bad was that I tapped the window and the main man, who was cashing up, completely ignored me! It was raining hard and all I wanted was a supper. Don't get me wrong, the meal they serve up is excellent. However, If you want a late meal at this place, visit half an hour before the advertised closing time. Shameful. PS I went to Vino's and had a lovely meal. Fish Bar's loss.

I absolutely love this shop. All of the products on offer are delicious and fairly priced. Really enjoy the fact that local and in season products are used. Will always be the first place I visit if I want fish and chips or a burger.

Wouldn't normally write a review on a fish and chip shop but I will make an exception in this case. We absolutely love fish and chips and will always try new places on our travels, have tried every place in Plymouth including all the ones with awards and rave reviews but since discovering this place every other chippy falls disappointingly short of the mark. The quality of the chips is brilliant, the cod perfectly flakey and the batter crunchy and delicious as it should be, we will continue to visit this place on a regular basis.

This is the best chippy ever! Always quick and polite service. Food is always great standard. Was a little disappointed when phone service stopped, but was always difficult to get through as busy anyway. Could be improved by being able to pay by card.

Good fish & chips, but last two visits have got home and found items missing from the order,, even though I've seen the fryer box them and had to the young idiots they employ to bag and serve.

Nice fish and chips, portion size is good. Onion rings are really yummy. Unfortunately they are expensive compared to other chip shops in the area. The staff s always friendly and j would phone your order in as it can get busy.

Amazing fresh chips, slightly pricy maybe but worth every penny!! Cod is lovely, battered sausages are heaven in a crispy coating!! Chicken in bbq sauce lovely too.

Placed order on being given it could to be wrong.When pointed out error was told my fault for sitting waiting for 10 minutes and not reading receipt!Ordered 2x2 cod bites and chips received1x4 cod bites and chips.No apology. What happened to customer service.Very disappointed

this is a local fish & chip shop in Ivybridge and is open 7 days a week. the fish is always cooked fresh to order and the batter is crispy. the chips are also cooked fresh to order and are also crispy. portion sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable. what more can you ask of a chippy?!

Massive portion sizes, food always fresh and cooked to order. The fish burger is amazing as are the chips, not too greasy. Ask for a side of chips for a slightly smaller (and cheaper) portion.

These are honestly the best fish n chips I've ever eaten. What Friday nights are all about! ~£11 for 2 large cod 1 large chips. Great portion sizes.

Had scampi about a week ago and was quite ill after. It's the only thing I've eaten for the past few weeks from a take away that hadn't been prepared at home so, not very impressed. This place uses to be very good but the quality of the food is going downhill rapidly. I used to enjoy the fish and chips but now I must say I have to go to the Riverbank Café for fish and chips because it's hands down the best around! I just can't spend anymore money at this place. By the past few visits I've had, they have been very poor. So sorry to say my business won't be here anymore in the future. A few people I know have said the same. I think the staff need to put more effort into the quality of the food rather than having a miserable look on their faces the whole time. It's not good for customer service.

Needed an easy fix for dinner whilst holidaying locally. We enjoyed a fish supper the night we arrived, so called back later in the week for scampi and chips. Great food both times, good service, clean premises and fair price.Would use again if in the area.

We use this fish bar on a regular basis i / e most Friday evenings, we enjoy the haddock chips & mushy peas they are cooked to order & are always great, The staff are so friendly & helpful & a credit to the owner Frankie I would highly recommend this fish bar, well done to all concerned, keep up the good work

Nice sausages and chippies. Banged my knee on table which hurt. Climbing wall looked dangerous and not something you would find in a chip bar. Bubblegum drink for toddles was useful.

The Haddock is amazing all the time, also their burgers are nice except the venison burger because the goats cheese with it just clashes with the venison and chilli jam. The chips are pretty good but not all the time. Other than that, it's great for local fish and chips. But they can't beat Riverbank Café for fish and chips. Definitely better taste there

I have had 9 different dishes from The Ivy Fish Bar. No complaints at all. Each dish was thoroughly enjoyable. Fish cooked to order and cooked very well. Chips taste like homemade and i cannot praise the service enough. Am looking forward to my next visit :) With the choice of eating in, at no extra cost, this is by far the best Fish and Chip shop :)

Wonderful freshly cooked fillet of cod; pure white and very 'meaty' with a light crispy batter. Huge portions. Tasty 'proper' hand-cut chips. Best takeaway in Ivybridge and never disappoints.

I took my son here and we wanted to eat in so you can order your chips etc and take your order upstairs, I expected a basic cafe, but it was really lovely, nice lighting, clean, modern with a little bar where you can get ice and water , you could go there with family and friends in a group and take your order upstairs and take your own drinks. The fish and chips there are excellent! I would return with all my family and eat upstairs for an affordable family treat..

Friday night - very busy. But staff is working very hard and they bring lovely food to our table. We took our 'fish and chips' upstairs to sit in.

The chippy is always busy and serves good fish and ships with good size portions. The shop is clean and well presented and offers a variety of fried food and locally sourced meat from the butcher opposite

Love this place. So much variety of food and it is of a great standard. Never go anywhere else.Only downsides are u can't always park on the high street plus can't pay by card - not major biggies really.

Never had any poor food from here, always good sized servings, great fish and chips! They also do several different types of burgers which are very good too.

We visited today and found the fish excellent. Previous reviews have mentioned the price being high but being visitors from near London we thought very reasonable. No extra charge for eating in (upstairs). Clean tables, help yourself to water and ice and as there were lots of wine glasses I assume you could take in your own drinks. The only down was the plastic forks that were very brittle (maybe take your own? )

We use this busy take-away with eat-in facilities regularly. It's consistently good with generous portions and a good choice of freshly cooked food, with friendly and efficient service.

Really nice fish and chips, I used quite regularly whilst working in Ivybridge. A little bit pricey but doesn't reach expensive.
